This place used to be great!!!!! until they decided to remodel and hike the prices on the food, so customers basically are paying for their remodeling cost!!! A large orange juice $5!!!! seriously?!?! I can get a litter at a super market at $3.99. The flavor of the carne asada is good but the sopes and huaraches are reduced a lot with some kind of ingredient that taste horrible and makes the masa look yellow! and taste weird, not good. I know how a Mexican sope should taste like, they used to get very close to the flavor and luv to stop by and kill a craving but not anymore.
Review Source:This place is located in a pretty heavily populated Mexican neighborhood, with lots of other Mexican food places around. But this place is by far my favorite. The carne asada is what got me hooked. No nasty fat, not too greasy, and tasty! It's a modern looking place, with cool Mexican wall decor, and El Gordo y La Flaca on the flatscreen TVs. The jugos (juices/drinks) are all natural too!
Review Source:I'm very disappointed of this place, I red the other reviews and I was expecting a lot more in the service and food.
It took more than 30 minutes to get our orders, I got mine 8 minutes after we ordered and the rest of them in 25 minutes later, I even asked to heat my mini Tacos de canasta in the microwave because they were cold.
The food has an excellent flavor, but the service is really bad.
Hey, Arlene G. beat me too it! This was a really great find -a hidden gem. She and I were trying to meet somewhere between my work and her house and there is really nothing along Cicero Ave -especially considering parking. This is just slightly west of Cicero Ave. I found the menu to be interesting -I think they offer some items that are specific to a certain part of Mexico (I'm thinking D.F. or "Mexico City" due to the "Chilango" in the name. Chilango is slang for someone from Mexico City). Also, I saw things like bambasos and different kinds of tamales I had not seen in other restaurants. I like that they have nopales (cactus) which you can't always find in every Mexican place. Overall, the food was cooked to order, fresh and had a "homemade" vibe to it. I was really impressed that this little tiny "hole in the wall" had such great food. Well, now we found our place in between both of us. Can't wait to go back and try other items!
Review Source:Went here last nite with 1 of my friends and we LOVED it! It's not ur typical Mexican dishes but we were feelin adventurous so we went for it. I had a tripe taco, chicken taco and asada taco. All 3 were really yummy! You could taste the flavor in each one and it was delicious! The lady that served us was sooo nice. Since my friend speaks Spanish they conversed about the foods and she answered all our questions. The food tastes very authentic and fresh. We will DEFINITELY come back to this place for the great food and wonderful service!
