This is really more of a 3.5 star place, but I'm feeling generous today. I've been here several times and I've always left happy.

This place is not authentic. It's a neighborhood restaurant with nice strong margaritas. This is not a place to travel to. I go because I live in the area and enjoy getting tipsy on tequila. I think if you keep that in mind it's a 4 star experience. I stick with basics- The taco norteno being my favorite. It's breaded steak in a flour tortilla topped with fresh avocado slices and sour cream. The flan is some of the best I've had! Be vsure to order that as well.

My only gripe about my last time here was I felt rushed. Our server was really nice until the end I really felt like we were being pushed out. I'm sorry, but when I spend $81 on basic Mexican food I feel I'm entitled to sit for 65 minutes. I don't like rushing!

There aren't many options in the Mt. Greenwood/Beverly area for great Mexican food and I am spoiled as I lived on the North side for the last 14 years! La Fiesta has this area by the balls for lack of a better term because there really aren't any great sit down Mexican restaurants in the south area and I'll pass on Casa Margartia in Orland, that place is nothing to rave about either. Their margaritas are ok, clearly some faux fruit margarita flavoring that is over colored; they don't have horchata as they must be too high class for that; they don't have micheledas which are a traditional mexican beer cocktail.

Their chips are good, their salsa is so mild a 2 year old can eat it which is great if you bring your kids I guess. I have had their carne asada dinner cut up and sauteed with onions, peppers, melted cheese and it was decent along with a combination plate of taco, enchilada, tamale, all were fair.

The place definitely caters to a non Latino population out here and maybe that is why they are still around as the area has no idea what true authentic mexican food should taste like, but again, we don't have options out here so I guess we will take what we can get. Better yet, for real mexican food in a quick sit down place, we will sometimes drive north on Pulaski to places like El Solazo.

This place, is what it is, nothing more. Sorry folks.

had the enchalidas, cheese... were very good.
Service was sloppy.... our server was more intrested in flirting with the bartender than attending our tables needs.
You could tell there was no manager on duty.... all the staff gossiping in the corner of the bar with one another, if there was a manager on duty they should fired for running a muck.
Entree was good, rice and beans were also ok..... chips and salsa were good.

This was my first time here.  I had a strawberry margarita and enchiladas suizas.  We sat on the patio.  I enjoyed it.  It was a nice summer, Chicago night.  We enjoyed the evening, and I like that we could be outside without going downtown or the Northside.  We will be coming back.

I have had better meals at taco bell! They know people in this area have nowhere
to go so they overcharge for this dogfood and these fools keep coming back.
The staff and everyone is nice. but the food is HORRIBLE!
I lived in New Jersey for 3 years and there was NOWHERE TO EAT so people would go to places like this and go gaga over the food and the outdoor patio because there were no other choices!!! People go crazy because it has a patio. SO WHAT???????
IT OVERLOOKS A PARKING LOT AND 111TH STREET. WHOOPDY DOOO!!
People in this area have to be desperate to eat here. The beans tasted like lard out of a can. A big layer of GLOPPY CHEESE over the enchiladas. Tomato sauce like another reviewer here noticed, tastes like they poured it out of a Campbells soup can.
It makes me think the owners are laughing all the way to the bank! But when you live on the Southside and there is no place to eat, you think this dogfood is the best!!!
Oh, and it has a porch by golly!!!!!

Very non Mexican food.... Appears to be Campbell's tomato soup used for all their sauces.  Salsa and chips are charged each time you ask for more. Bad news

This place used to be the greatest Mexican food place around.--Great margaritas, the best queso for their quesadillas, good guac.  I had not been there in awhile and suggested it for our monthly Friday night dinners with the girls.  I am so embarassed that I brought 20 girls back into the city for a cheap, second rate version of what used to be the best.  The margaritas are no longer delicious.  The cheese in my "botana suprema--my usual favorite--was a salty/sour cheap version of what it used to be.  What used to be a generous mound of guacamole on it is now a dab camouflaged with shredded lettuce.  There were 20 of us jammed along 5 tables with 4 little bowls of salsa and chips.l  Little did we know that every time we asked for more salsa, they added a dollar to the bill.  After dropping a big chunk of change, we didn't expect to be nickle and dimed for salsa to put on our food.  Never again!!

Love going here for margaritas!!!  HATE that they dont give you much chips n salsa though, so then I have to pay to get the same small portions.  I like this place for the most part though, but Ive certainly had better.  I'll never stop going for the ritas yummm

I really wanted to give La Fiesta a better rating, but for some reason it has really gone downhill.  When I was a kid, this was my family's go to Mexican restaurant.  Now, though, it seems like they are more interested in profit than being a landmark in Mount Greenwood.

First of all, I have never gone to a Mexican restaurant in which you had to pay for extra chips and salsa.  Sure their chips are deliciously hot and crispy, and the salsa is mild and tasty(yeah... it's probably Pace, but it's GOOD!), but if they are going to be stingy enough to charge me for every extra basket and cup, you can count me out.  Prices for the main dishes are reasonable, but a "large" plate of guacamole is $8.20, and there are no free refills on pop.  It seems like all the extras get you paying much more than expected.

The best part of my meal was the waiter.  He cracked me up by calling everyone baby and my grandma, "mama." He seemed to be having a great time serving, and it was definitely well received.  He even recommended the dish I got (carne an rajas) which was very delicious.  I have gotten a few of their dishes, and this is definitely my favorite. Overall, it is not the food or service that is disappointing, it's the pricing. Then again I may have gotten spoiled by Pilsen's (18th and ashland) pricing and delicosity.

The food is just okay, and the prices (for the area) are a little on the high side. I've never had a problem with the service.  This is the neighborhood's "fancy" Mexican restaurant, and it does a pretty good business. But you can travel a few miles south and get much better Mexican food in Blue Island.

One question: why does the logo picture a man wrapped in his serape, his sombrero pulled over his face, snoozing against a cactus? Wouldn't that be better suited for a place called "La Siesta" and not La Fiesta?

Food is gross and bland, no flavor ! The prices are ok but seriously 4.25 for a freaking beer is ridiculous.  This is Mt. Greenwood, not downtown.  Ate here yesterday and it was around 8.  They closed two hours after that,  the woman was so intent on leaving she was vacuuming the floor the whole time,  SOOOO annoying, especially when she started doing it in and around our table.  Please wait the freaking two hours the restaurant is still open.  I was so annoyed!

Blah, nostalgia has let me down yet again.

When I lived in Oak Lawn as a kid/teenager, La Fiesta was my family's default Mexican place. I loved everything about it.

Well now, life has gone full circle for me and I have a job at St. Xavier University, 2 miles from where I grew up, 1 mile from where I went to high school, and 1 mile from my old favorite Mexican restaurant. So when my new supervisor asked where I'd like to go to celebrate starting my new job, I recommended there.

It wasn't bad by any means, just... disappointing.

First off, the service was slower than hell. Sure, it was 12 on a Tuesday, but still, it took an eternity (note:this is an exaggeration, not to be taken literally) for each stage of the dining process to take place. We sat for 15 minutes before anyone came to greet us. Then several minutes before we could order, then five or ten minutes before and refills were offered, etc. etc.

Then when the food did come. It tasted good, but was kind of a mess. My tacos were lying on top of each other in such a way that they were all really soggy and hard to eat. I will admit the flavor was about as good as I remember, but poor plating can hurt a meal. I'm not a judge on Chopped here, just keep the food in good condition for me.

In other, less hard to mess up meals, some of my co-workers got a torta they were raving about, but were perplexed that it came with fries. Oh and their chips and salsa are absolutely fantastic here.

Overall, though, it was disappointing. It's still good food, but it needs a little more polish to be better than average.

Wow, reading the reviews, y'all are breaking bad on La Fiesta...what the heck!

Seriously, the place has some solid Mexican food, and I am picky as hell! I just had the Camarones Diablo tonight and they were spicy and excellent (the waitress warned  me that they were "really spicy", but they were perfectly spicy), and I usually order the Chili Rellenos and I am VERY picky about those, and they are always excellent here!

This place is close to my shop and there is an absolute dearth of decent places to eat around here, but I would recommend La Fiesta even if that weren't the case! Oh, and the service is always excellent too...I never have to flag someone down to get me another beer at this place!

Keep up the good and consistent work, La Fiesta. I am a fan!

Wonderful margaritas, but the food was really not good. Greasy chips with bland salsa to start. Then I ordered the camarones al diablo, which were really damn spicy but that is all. No other flavors there. I loved that they gave you pretty much a whole avocado with it though. Rice was that red mexican rice that I am not a fan of. Lettuce and tomatoes with it were kind of overwhelming. Worst part? The corn tortillas. They smelled old, kinda moldy actually. I didn't eat them.

Only go here for booze. I should have known better than to eat mexican in an irish neighborhood.

So my girl & I decided on this place a couple nights ago since its close to her house. Upon walking in, the place had a nice vibe. Very lively with lots of people. They have a full bar so it definitely seems like a place to have a party and some fun.

Since I read other peoples reviews on here before hand, I was not expecting to be blown away by their food, & I wasn't. The salsa that came with the chips before the meal tasted like some Pace or Tostito's jar salsa from your local grocery store. (the chips were good, however) I ordered chicken tacos, & my girlfriend ordered steak fajitas. The portions were definitely plentiful, as I only could put down two tacos (the appetizers were filling) I did finish all the rice & beans, which were probably the high point of the meal. Other than that, the food is neither good nor bad. Just "meh". Not a place to go if you're seeking authenticity in Mexican food. But if you're around the area & as hungry as we were that night, you might occasionally find yourself here anyway. Afterall, it's a nice place & the staff seems pretty nice as well.

To quote a hilarious friend of mine, " this is no place to write home about."
The food here is a little below standard Mexican food; nothing that will leave you thinking about your next time but nothing that will have you running for the bathroom.
It's one of the few, if only Mexican resturants in the dirty south, so I guess it will have to do...
Just have a few margaritas and you won't even care what you're eating.

La Fiesta is a favorite happy hour destination among my teammates after a long day in the operating room.  The margaritas are pretty tasty, plus they have an outdoor patio.  The food is average...  I've definitely had better.  Service is friendly and fast.

    Basically, my thoughts are:

    Dinner - no!
    Happy Hour - YES!!!

There are two redeeming qualities of this place: The outdoor patio and the Pollo El Carbon. You really won't catch me coming here when the outdoor patio is open and I won't go out of my way to come here.

The food here is average Mexican food.  The only thing that really stands out is the Pollo El Carbon which is pretty tasty. The service has never really wowed me here but I have never had a horrible experience. I can't comment on the margaritas because I drink beer!
