Hello, I was just at this restaurant over the weekend. If you want to know how many starts I would give this place based on taste, it would be 5!!!!
However, it was far from busy when I got there (party of 3). We ordered tortas, not any crazy and intricate meal. All I have to say is that it took FOREVER! This would be expected if it was busy, but it was not, in fact kind of dead. The ambiance isn't the best, though it's very nice looking, they did not even have music playing in that second dining area (the newer one).
Don't get me wrong, the food was on point, so I guess if I was not hungry or if I had forever to wait, then I would go here. Otherwise, not so much.
Everyone there was perfectly nice, nothing above and beyond, but nice.
If you don't mind waiting maybe 45 minutes for tortas, then you should go, the taste is great!
this place is solid.
chile relleno was very unique and unlike anything i had seen before: it was one of those red-colored dried peppers you see in mexican grocery stores stuffed with beef. kind of hot with a bit of a sweetness. very tasty.
wife had carne asada very good too.
this is your grammas mexican cooking
scene is mixed of gringo and paisano.
we'll be back
Without inviting the question "How many Mexican Grandmother's homes HAVE you been in?" I would like to say that yes I totally felt just like I was hangin' in a Mexican Grandmother's dining room while she worked on some pretty amazing dishes in the kitchen. You know you're in for a quality meal when the salsa trio comes out and does not disappoint. All three tasted amazingly fresh, homemade, and each packed a lot of individual flavor. I went with the Carne Asada Torta, and mi amiga had the Chicken Enchilada. Both spectacular.
Tortas can vary, so sometimes I don't know quite what to expect... In the more common torta found in take out places and casual eateries you'll get shredded chihuahua cheese, a pile of shredded lettuce, finely chopped carne asada swimming in guacamole and sour cream on a super soft bolillo. Not here. This was a substantial SANDWICH. Perfect cuts of sliced carne asada just slightly charred, thinly sliced cheese, a cut of tomato, a cut of avocado, and a bit of red onion on lightly grilled bread with just the right amount of crunch. Delicious!
I don't anticipate you'll ever have a wait here. They have 2 dining rooms and it is very quiet, service was prompt too, but we were the only people there at the time!
I will definitely be back.
