Who was voted best Singer in Las Vegas in 2007 when Celine Dion was performing there, can sing Britney, Celine, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, plus Operatic arias, and hit the high notes on Minnie Ripperton's classic "Loving You"?
Lani Misalucha is a beautiful and talented singer who can. She performed in Las Vegas at Bally's and the Flamingo with the SOS, the Society of Seven, and in 2011, opened the "Return to Paradise" show at the Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber.
Prior to that, she won numerous singing awards in her native Phillipines, and has several recordings available for sale, both studio and live performances. Search her on youtube to get a sense of her talent.
The show was fabulous, she was the star, but had a talented group of singers, dancers and musicians backing her up. She not only has incredible vocal range and a great repertoire of genre, she is also an entertaining and funny stage performer.
Unfortunately, when I went in late July about 6 months after she opened, the room was only half full, and filled mostly with Kama'aina and locals. I guess the retired couples from Kansas on their once in a lifetime vacation to Waikiki couldn't justify the $50 dollar cost to see a Las Vegas type show with an incredible talent.
Sadly, the Return to Paradise show concluded its run at the Waikiki Beachcomber on September 9, 2012.
But if you ever catch the name of Lani Misalucha coming into to town, go see here, as she is a truly talented singer.
Went to see Lani's show Aug. 17th to celebrate our anniversary and SHE IS AMAZING! Â Lani's range of voice, style and comedic timing is just perfect. Â The band was great as well, especially when Lani sang on opera. then, she did a tributeto the divas. Â THESE DIVAS DON'T HOLD A CANDLE COMPARED TO LANI. Â She's also very engaging with all the audience. Â Lani's talent is a joy to watch. Â There's so much variety that tourists & local folks NEED to see the show. Mabuhay & Aloha!
Review Source:Loved it! Â Was shocked. Â Wasn't expecting much, but a friend gave me a free ticket. Â It was a really quality show. Â Lani was funny, theatrical and she can sing. Â I might not be up for paying $55, but definitely work $30 or less. Â Every seat is good, don't pay extra for VIP seats. Â Do bring a sweater, it got a little cold (maybe to keep Lani cool in all those giant costumes).
There was several guest appearances, one being Jordan Sagundo. Â I was wondering what happened to him after American Idol. Â He is pretty handsome, the singing was OK. Â
Go with a group, you will have a good time.
If you still haven't seen this show you're totally missing out on hearing Lani sing live. I've heard her sing on YouTube, but actually seeing her up close and personal is well worth it. I brought my entire family to the show and they all were blown away by the  power and control in her voice. She commands your attention the entire show. She has a way of connecting to her audiences and engaging them at the same time. Lani is absolutely one of the best singers I've ever heard live...
Review Source:Before seeing this show, I had never heard of Lani however I would see her advertisement in Waikiki. Â All I can say is WOW. Â Her voice is amazing and her ability to switch genre's is a God given talent. Â Her impersonations were on key and she delivered a superb performance. Â Her cast and band members were upbeat, personable and fun loving. Â Together this performance deserved 5 stars. Â I am sooo glad that I did not past up this opportunity to watch her show!!!!
Review Source:She was VERY good and her backup singers did an equally good job in complementing her singing talents. Â Her vocal skills and talent betrayed her petite size, because they are definitely powerful and strong. Â As for sexiness and overall performance, she's a must-see again and again, so go support and check her out! Â Unfortunately I was just visiting Hawaii; otherwise, I would see her show again without question. Â I will certainly tell my friends and family of her performance when they visit the island soon.
Review Source:The voice of an angel!! Â OMG!!! Â A simply breathtaking performance! Â I'm soooo glad I learned about Lani. Â How did I not know about her sooner?!
My words simply cannot do justice the experience of being in the presence of Lani when she performs. Â
If Lani's rendition of Minnie Riperton's Classic, "Loving You" does not touch a tender place deep within your soul, you may want to see a doctor. Â ;-)
As funny as she is a talented singer and a beautiful performer, Lani ranks among the top in terms the wondrous beauty I've experienced since my move to Waikiki a few months ago.
Just a warning: Â It will be difficult, if not impossible to remain in your seat. Â You'll be inspired--compelled, even--to pop up and sing....dance...greet your neighbors and maybe even go out for Pu Pu's after the show. Â
Lani is a must-see while in Waikiki.
Another beautiful, talented and breathtaking performer I recommend seeing is Kanoe Miller and she performs at Halekulani.
What a fabulous show! Â Took my mom last night for an early mother's day treat, and we were pleasantly surprised! Didn't know what to expect, having never heard of the talented singer and performer. Â Lani, her back up singers and dancers, and band put on a rockin show! She captivates the audience with her amazing voice (her 5 octave voice parallels Mariah Carey's- you won't be disappointed) humor and funny impersonations ( Celine dion, dianna Ross, Britney spears, tina turner), and engaging persona. She really got the audience in on the fun!
What a fun night, and one that I certainly won't forget. Â Such talent!!
As an amateur opera singer, I was curious about her advertised 5 octave range. So I went to the show. Result: thoroughly  impressed and went ethastic. ! Even my teenage daughter loved it and was very pleased  that I dragged her  from Waikiki shopping to this amazing experience. Still haunted by her amazing  voice and incredible presentation 1 week later. No wonder there were people in audience came to the show 2 days in a row. She received the standing ovation from the entire audience. In addition, the humor, acting, lively interaction with audience, the band and 2 amazing back singers, all the elements are perfect. A total package!
Will go back to the show for sure during next visit to Oahu.
You won't find a better singer in Waikiki! And now just Waikiki, Â know for her time in las Vegas she is truly a great talent that Hawaii is lucky to have snatched up.
Not only is her voice amazing, but she has a sense of humor that gives her show that much more than any other performance in Waikiki.
Shes worth the time to go see, so if you have a free night, no even if you don't you should really take some time and come see her. You wont regret your time spent here.
Lani, her back up girls, her band and her guest artist Jordan Segundo rocked the house. Â Shook the walls, and nearly brought down the roof. Â They were hot!
Her five octave range showed superstar talent. Her vocal interpretations entertained the audience like fireworks and acrobatics. Â A real gymnast of talent in singing, Lani would score the Gold in Entertainment Olympics!
What stood out for me was her impressions of the divas... Brittany was comical, Celine was super, Tina was fabulous, Diana really hit it, Whitney soared!
On and on, from the Nessum Dorma to Abba, Lani showed her class, her sass, and her flash. Â (no raunch here, it's a family show)
Absolutely brilliant staging and great moments of sheer joy.
Thank you Lani for taking us on your wonderful ride of music.
Yelp 365 Challenge:129/365
This was the best show that I've ever seen in Waikiki, and I've seen some good ones. Â It's definitely as good as many more expensive Vegas shows out there. Â I took my wife for her birthday as well as my daughter and they both loved it. Â I'd like to thank Robert's and all the people who made bringing Lani here possible as lately there haven't been too many entertainment options around. Â L&L is carrying discounted coupons this month to see her and I would highly recommend it. Â Just her Tina Turner improv alone would be worth it.
Review Source:What an enjoyable night! I was skeptical about attending the "Lani In Waikiki" simply because of my lack of knowledge about the show let alone the entertainer. I attended the performance under great circumstances and I am glad Ms. Misalucha knocked me off (or to my) feet during her performance. She had me tapping my foot to actually dancing! With that said, Lani and her backup singers enjoy going into the audience and interacting with people. I absolutely love whenever Lani looked at me or my fellow audience members and acknowledged them be it a wink, wave, smile, or a hug. Such wonderful presence! Showcasing all the glitz and glamor of her Las Vegas show was all splendid but it did not compare to the pipes she stacks! This woman's vocals are crazy-amazing and I highly recommend those who have not seen her show to get on it!
Review Source:Watched Lani's show on 1/3/12 and thoroughly enjoyed it! Â Lani Misalucha is truly a first class talent --- a diva onstage but offstage, she is a genuinely warm and lovely lady, very un diva-like. Â Her band and back-up singers are also A+! Â Go and see Lani in Waikiki! Â It's definitely not only for tourists! Â I'm a proud new Lani Misalucha fan!
Went to Lani's show again last night (1/21/12 -- this time with family from the mainland) and wow, it was even better the second time around! Â Lani is a class act! Â So worth it! Â Thank you, Lani! Â You're the best and hope your show extends beyond March!
I've seen the show twice now and loved it both times. Lani Misalucha has the most amazing voice. I love seeing and listening to such incredible talent. Lots of energy, beautiful singing, comedy and audience interaction. Many of the songs are older, like from the 70s, 80s and 90s, but even the teenagers in our group had so much fun they asked to see the show again. Â Definitely worth going.
Review Source:Waikiki (and Hawaii in general) is lacking in the entertainment choices. Let's be honest, there are only so many times you can watch a fight break out on Kuhio or watch the metal men standing at attention on Kalakaua. Lani Misalucha and her show in the Waikiki Beachcomber fills that void with a show that will amuse and entertain you.
Lani and her live band, create a show that entertains the locals and tourists alike with the customary "Who is from Japan!? Anyone from China?" and making the audience apart of the show. The music ranges from the oldies to the present with songs from ABBA to Celine. The range of the show is certainly sure to please the multi-generations that may be in attendance.
The theater is starting to show its age, but don't let that deter you. You are there for the show after all and the lights and sound are the strong bones of the theater which don't disappoint.
Pricing is a bit on the higher side in my opinion and would be sure to attract a greater following if it were about 10-15% cheaper. Keep in mind, you are bound to buy a drink inside as well which will also add to your total cost. Valet parking is available, make sure you validate your ticket when you pick up your show tickets and arrive early since it can have some bottlenecks.
All in all, is it your true Vegas show experience? No, but it shouldn't be. Our local scene is no-where near to that caliber and you definitely have to keep that in mind when you go into the show. Do that and you will enjoy it so much more!
Btw...the performances by Troy N. and Esteban W. were quite priceless on opening night! :-)
I was one of the fortunate Elite yelpers that get to be in her very first show! this is exactly why I love yelp. Not only do we get to express our experiences, we also get to attend cool things like Lani Misalucha's concert.
Just a little bit of background about her, She's one of the most famous singer in the Philippines, Â and just like how they described her at wikipedia
"A certified diva, (Lani) can easily shift from ballad to pop rock and even jazz. She may even flabbergast you with a sudden burst of operatic aria in a seasoned dramatic coloratura soprano voice, with a ringing and bravura expressive coloratura dexterity in the highest register. Recording multiplex tapes of the songs of great singers, she can, with alacrity, imitate the voice and style of, among others, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, and even Barbra Streisand."
because of her amazing vocals she earned her name as the Asia's Nightingale and now earned the name New Siren of the Strip from her show at the flamingo hotel las vegas.
Anyway! I went to her show and OH MY GOSHHH!!! IT was a blast! she exceeded my expectations, definitely one of the best shows I've been to. I definitely recommend Lani in waikiki to everyone!
Take your friends, family, co-workers! and guarantee they'll have a blast!
Lani Misalucha is definitely a not to be missed attraction. Â This songstress voice is so amazing. Â This show has it all! Â Beautiful costume changes, great impersonations of well known singers, humor, audience participation and a voice that knows no boundaries. Â
Fellow Yelper Esteban did fantastic showing his mad dance skills. Â Hand picked because of his sophisticated style (t-shirt and converse shoes). Â Here is a few pictures of him. Â

I was just captivated from the start, from her opening act just show casing her musical vocals. A pic of her gorgeous opening costume:

Lani sang different  musical styles, pop, soul,  and jazz.  Lani also had a wonderful local live band backing up her mesmerizing voice. Â
I saw all sorts of mixtures of ages in the audience from young children, young adults, and young people full of wisdom : ) Â She kept it family friendly and the energy level going. Â I would suggest going with a group. Â Living up an experience again through conversation with someone you know is a great way to relive such a memorable performance.
great  show at the Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Showroom.  I was there with my hubby  for the opening night with other Yelp Elites and it was wonderful !  Lani has super  talent and  is definitely worth seeing live.  She can do a variety of styles from rock, classical, modern, pop, etc.  great  entertainer.  The show is also very interactive so be prepared to join in on the fun! what a wonderful voice !
Review Source:Typically, I wouldn't be at these types of shows. A Las Vegas type performance, from a Filipina singing all of the greatest hits from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Sounds like your typical house party in Waipahu or Kalihi... except with less pancit,
Call it bad luck, or simply just bachi, but this is what I get for making fun of others who got called out from the audience to demonstrate their "less" than spectacular entertaining skills. On opening night - if you were there, it was me that had to dance it out in front of the packed opening night audience with my "classy" Converse shirt. I must say, I had to drop it, and yes, as if it were hot.
The performance overall was nice. Again, a Las Vegas type performance with your favorite hits (mine was the good rendition of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody) and including impressions of your favorite artists (Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Brittney Spears). Not my typical type of show, but entertaining nonetheless.
Lani is funny, entertaining and (honestly) I enjoyed the show. The only bad: the price tag (if you have to pay for it). Of course, if you're on vacation or in Waiks to have a good time, then money should be your least concern. However, imagine paying so much when Filipino families are doing nightly shows all over Kalihi, nightly - for free. Lani is like having a REALLY talented aunty with extravagant costume changes and a lighting crew. Overall, would I sit through it again? Probably and most likely - No. BUT would I encourage others to check it out - Yes.
Five stars though? Well, in terms of Las Vegas type shows (since the show is FROM Las Vegas) in Waikiki - I think it's about as good as it's going to get.
Star-studded performance - Britney Spears! Â Tina Turner! Â

Celine Dion! Â ...wrapped up in one beautiful little package called Lani Misalucha. Â

Chatting with my table-mates before the show started (performing in the Magic of Polynesia auditorium in Waikiki) no one even knew how to say her last name. Â None of us had any idea what to expect other than knowing Lani was a singer. By the end of the night it was a standing ovation from all!
The show was awesome. Â Not only is Lani's voice powerful and her range could challenge that of Mariah, she's also a comedienne! Â She had us laughing out loud with her impressions and puns and the interactive nature of the show was really fun (not in the cheesy way you'd expect a Waikiki show to be). Â
From what I know she's only here for a limited engagement for now but if you get the chance CHECK IT OUT! Â It's definitely worth the time and a really fun night out!
This lady sure has a set of pipes. Â She's talented and beautiful. Â The costumes are many and gorgeous. Â That said, this is a Las Vegas style performance. Â You have to like this sort of thing. Â I think probably someone my parents' age would have appreciated it more than my age set.
Review Source:Girl can sing!!  Did  I say Girl??  lol  well she is  a  girl to some extent... I do have to say  the woman so Gorgeous.....  sooo personable. She put on a  great show...  her voice OMG!!   A new show in  Waikiki  a must see.  Parking at  the new Ross in Waikiki the old theater parking.  (Validation at the box office) and walk over to the Magic of Polynesia Show room.  Enjoy!!!
