If I'm going to to pay over $40 to get into a show with my husband I want to get something out of it. Maybe my expectations were high because I was in Kirkland but I was totally let down. First sticker price -_- really $42 plus tax ok...yikes.. Next the place it self is a dump I felt like I was transported to well a sh*t hole in bum f*** egypt. Then there is the requirement that you HAVE to purchase something. So not only do I pay more then I wanted to for tickets, get transported to a dump but now you're telling me I have to buy some over priced cafeteria food and over priced watered down drinks? THEN listen to some host who I have to throw out pity laughs for because no one is laughing and it's really quite awkward?? Yeah... I think the only thing that gets people to come is it's the only place right in that area, my advice save your money and drive 10 more minutes to Bellevue and go to the Parlor Comedy show. WAY BETTER and totally worth it.
Review Source:If you are looking for a fun night out - you have GOT to try Laugh's! I stumbled across them after moving to the area and decided to give them a try one night. I've now been back countless times and have taken groups of friends there as well.
The owners are super nice, the wait staff are friendly, the acts are excellent and the atmosphere is tough to beat. I won't drive to Seattle any more to see a good show - I don't have to when it's all right here in Kirkland!
Give Laugh's a try! You won't be disappointed!!
I have been attending Laughs since it opened and attended over 40 shows easily. Â I have yet to be disappointed by more than a few of the comedians. Â Numerous times it will be someone I had never heard of and I will be impressed by them. Â They do a great job finding and booking talent and up and coming talent here. Â The only negative I will give laughs is the getting your drinks can be a touch slow depending with big crowds. Â Overall great place to enjoy some good comics have a few drinks for a reasonable priced night! Â The location of a strip mall throws people off (although leads to many comics doing some great jokes about the location) but the seating is better than the Parlor although the interior/stage is less glamorous.
Review Source:I had purchased a LivingSocial deal (for two seats and $30 to spend on food/drinks) for $30 many months ago, which had already been expired for a while, so I called two hours ahead of time to make sure that there will still seats for the 10pm show and that they would still grant the paid value of $30 (which almost covered the full price of two tickets for that night's show). To our delight, the lady on the phone said she would just go ahead and just grant the voucher for two tickets. Ready for a cheap thrill on a Saturday night, we get to the club, and it gets even better: not only do we get great seats, but we're handed a $15 voucher for our tab (which wasn't even due to us at that point).
Then things got bumpy. After a being seated, ten minutes go by and our server hasn't come to our table. I wave down a different server, who comes over and tells us that she'll let "our" server know we're ready. Another fifteen minutes go by, and the show has started. I wave down that other server again, and she apologizes and takes our order. Not even having gone to the show with the intention of ordering any drinks, we go ahead and get an appetizer and cocktail. As the server takes our menus away, she quickly slips in that there's a two item minimum per person (something that was never made apparent when I bought the LivingSocial deal), and then heads off. Great. Once she returns, we order two more cheap items to fulfill the minimum. Later on, we get the check, and the $15 voucher hasn't even been applied, prompting me to correct her. All of this while the show is going on.
While both the atmosphere and comedians themselves were awesome, it was a night of good comedy ruined by the distraction of absent/shoddy/unhelpful service.
Here are my issues with this place.....
1- $38+tax/fees for 2 tickets which to me is ridiculous for a "no-name" comedy show.
2- My friend printed her tickets from home but they charged her a $2 delivery fee! Hmmm, using your own ink and they charge you to print?! Funny thing about it, I had mine held in "willcall" and they didn't charge me anything.... so why would you pay to print? How is that a "convenience" charge?!
3- Not only are you paying a ridiculous amount for tickets, they also REQUIRE you to purchase an appetizer or beverage.
Talk about nickeling and diming!! The ONLY way I will go back is if there is a Groupon, because this place was a huge rip off. It was a fun night, but way too pricey for a comedy show without a major headliner.
the head liner was funny and the venue was accomadating with our group so that we could i sit together. but that is about it. it was an okay comedy club the owner i can see is a nice guy but starting off the show with him and then the not funny MC for the night is a good pace setter, pity laughs for both on my account. i will be back based on the fact that is the only comedy club close to were i live. if there were more options i would explore them.
they charged a an outrages gratutity on the bill, for 2 items minimum. i order a 9 dollar drink and a shot of absolute. after the bill came with there tip included and it came to $22 seems a little over the top.
Been twice, using a $29 Groupon each time. Â That got two of us in, plus some credit for food. Â The first time, the warm-ups were all pretty lame, and the headline comic a little better. Â The second time we went - a couple of weeks later - Â the headliner (Kermit-something) was decent, but one of the warm-up comics was even better. Â On average, I give the comedy portion 3.5 stars. Â And I say this as a longtime follower of stand-up.
Now for the food: That gets a 0 from me. Â It's like Armageddon hit, and the kitchen has access to only the most trailer parky of ingredients that were so pumped full of preservatives and/or sealed in cans that they managed to survive. Â Regular pub food is just fine -- but this stuff is simply HORRIBLE.
I've now had a hamburger and some nachos there. Â We're not talking about complex French cuisine. Â It's a BURGER and a bun, fergodssakes. Â How do you screw that up?! Â Thought maybe this was just a fluke, but noooo. Â The nachos were just bizarre and not at all tasty. Â They were made with round corn chips, some black beans and pieces of ground beef in a chili-ish sauce, plus some miniscule diced tomatoes and also tiny diced chicken pieces. Â I didn't want the Velveeta that comes with them, so I paid an extra $2 for real cheese -- of which there was very little. Â The best part of the whole thing was probably the sour cream that came in the little plastic cup. Â Pretty sad.
My friend's sundae was just so-so. Â As with the other items we had, the ingredients tasted low grade -- and I couldn't quite identify some tiny crunchy things that were on the side of the ice cream.
The only reason I even ate there the second time was that I made the mistake of arriving very hungry. Â So the Groupon -- which included some food -- wasn't such a great bargain. Â Should add, though, that the margarita was not terrible. Â And the self-confessed ADD server from the second visit was very pleasant and entertaining.
Next time, I will be sure to eat before, or even bring a bag of trail mix and only order something to drink. Â Don't want to gamble on a third strike.
Have been to comedy at the Parlor in Bellevue more than a dozen times. Â The place is crazy-crowded on weekends, and you're jammed into a small space and (unless you pay for VIP seats) are forced to sit on uncomfortable stools shoved together at long, narrow tables. Â However, their food is good. Â I have enjoyed everything I've ever ordered there (nachos are a world apart from the ones at Laughs), and will gladly pay a couple bucks more for something that's actually edible.
I like the low-key vibe of Laughs, and the seating is very comfortable. Â But they have GOT to hire some halfway decent cooks and use better ingredients in their kitchen. Â There is no excuse for chow that makes Denny's seem gourmet.
We went on a Saturday night and it was aweseome. We had a Groupon, essentially giving us $30 free food. I was surprised at how good the food was, and it wasn't a rip off either. The portions were decent compared to the price. The main act was amazing. My husband said that when he went the last time, the comedian was also great so I have to believe that they usually have some good acts.
Our server wasn't very good.
Go early for a good seat.
Important to note that my 2-star rating is an average of 4 for the place, the service, and the staff, along with a zero-to-1 for the quality of last night's act.
The good, the 4: Easy parking, very clean, spiffy interior (immaculate bathroom, not usually the case in comedy clubs), nice layout, super nice greeter/hostess and server, and the owner made a nice initial welcome statement on stage. Â There is an obvious pride in ownership here. Â We didn't eat, but a lot of people were having burger baskets; beer and wine selection and prices were pretty good, not a rip-off as entertainment clubs often are.
The bad, the zero-ish: $21 a head to get in (two of us), ouch, better be darn good laughs for $42. Â I think that's close to what we've paid to see proven, known talent at Caroline's in NY. Â And that's where it hit the failure point...the MC guy was funny enough in a Ron White kind of way during a brief intro, then the warm-up kid was OK and at least a pleasantly self-deprecating kind of comic - was a bit like listening to our own sons talking in the kitchen after a couple of beers, but that's not easy on stage when you're 27, so give him 3 stars. Â Enter the headliner - who frankly sucked. Â Hey, just BEING from NY doesn't automatically make you funny, dude. Â Lousy energy, dull delivery (but not in a Mitch Hedberg/Steven Wright stylish way), scrambled to string jokes together and had no flow, yet still acted pretty full of himself. Â Three quarters of his act was the same stuff that he has online, so you could just watch about four minutes there and see pretty much all that this guy offers. Â And then the age-old problem: it's usually expected that we'll hear about lewd sex, farting, gays, and all that - but there at least needs to be something funny built in there. Â And one other thing - if you think that a suburban neighborhood location and an early show don't make for a situation where people will still laugh and enjoy you, then don't take a guy's money to do the show - just book yourself into big city neighborhoods that only have 10 pm shows filled with hammered hipsters - good luck with that.
Not saying that we would not go back if we picked a better headliner with a little more advanced research, the place is comfortable and the owner makes it a nice business that you want to support. Â And maybe on a Groupon or some deal that cuts back a little on that $42 just to walk in; because I sure can think of a lot of better ways to spend it compared to paying anything for that bozo last night.
Great show and atmosphere. Too bad the service was horrible. Server, Flo, screwed up my wife's order and apologized. They gave her a completely different sand which. When we told her she apologized and left her the incorrect food at the table. 30 minutes later I stop her and see if she is going to replace it with what she ordered. Finally, after I finished my food and we finished the appetizer, which came with my meal instead of before it, she finally got her sandwich. What a shame a great show was spoiled with poor service.
Review Source:I saw Adam Carolla here, enough said.
I've been here a few times now and always have a good time. They have pretty good booking and were able to land the great Adam Carolla before he blew up and decided he was too good for smaller venues. Side note: I saw Adam Carolla again at The Moore theater and I was not impressed with that venue at all. We were way too far from the stage and you couldn't bring your drink to your seat, WTF?! But enough about that place. What I love about Laughs is that it is a small intimate setting and you get to be up close and personal to the talent. It really is the best way to see a comedian.
The food is always good here, though I would like a few more options like nachos or burgers maybe?! They also have a good selection of beers with a couple of my favorites like Mac & Jacks African Amber Ale and Manny's Pale Ale. The servers here are pretty nice and fairly attentive, I do remember having to wait for a little while for our food and drinks but not long and nothing to get upset about.
I've been here a handful of times and I've always had a good time so I'll be sure to return. A big plus is that it's just down the road from where I live, which makes the commute easy and short!
Just come home after a disappointing evening at Laughs Comedy Club. My husband and I took our daughter and her fiance to celebrate his 21st birthday. We paid $75 for four tickets online and then another $90 worth of food and drinks on top of that, so it wasn't a cheap evening. The owner Dave started off  and he was funny, the two performers after that were hilarious too, but the main act, Brian Scolaro was great up until the last 20 minutes where he blasted the crowd for being annoying and wanted us all to get infected with aids. He said there were a few people heckling him in the crowd, we didn't hear anything. But it all ended on a sour note. What was supposed to be a fun evening out, ended up being awful and awkward.
Wouldn't recommend going here unless you have a Groupon and can go for cheap. Disappointed and won't be going back.
1/13/13 Update: I just received a phone call from Angela, one of the owners apologizing for last nights awkward performance and offering to give us free tickets to try them again. Like she said, there's nothing we can do to redo a 21st birthday evening, but I really do appreciate the personal phone call. I think we will give Laughs Comedy another shot as I am pretty impressed they are taking the time to call everyone to personally apologize, now that is great customer service! Thanks Angela for calling :)
1/20/13 Yet another update :) I called Angela and arranged to go back last night to Laughs Comedy Club. All four of us had a fabulous time, and our waitress Anie, was fabulous! I can now highly recommend going to this comedy club, they treat us like royalty and all of the comedians were hysterical! We will definitely be going back on a regular basis now. Thanks Angela for a fabulous evening!
This is a great spot for a night out! Â The comedians are top-notch, from local talent to the national touring acts. Â The owner even gets onstage to start off the night and he's funny too! Â
Service is outstanding from the wait staff. Â The menu is varied and the food is good. Â Plenty of drink options available, whether alcohol and non. Â The prices are reasonable as well.
Plus, what I really like is a sense of class that the place has. Â There aren't any dirt-bags ruining the evening for the other guests.
I enjoy visiting with the comedians between shows. Â It's a nice bonus and they're great people.
You can't beat this for the dollar. Â If you go to their website you can purchase tickets and get $5 off. Â Plus, if you "like" them on Facebook, you will see cool freebies from time to time.
Can't say enough good things.....
I LOVE that there's a proper comedy club in the area, even though I've had increasingly bad customer experiences here. It seems to attract some terrific comedians who might find a better crowd in a Seattle proper venue, so I hope that means they get treated and compensated very well. I appreciate that servers can be relied upon to try to quiet down some of the drunk asshats who loudly blabber through the show and disrupt the comedy experience for nearby patrons. I feel like that happens more here than at other comedy joints in the area, but I think that's common for a true comedy club setup.
The reason the star rating is only three is because it is incredibly difficult and stressful to coordinate with the club about any kind of reservation/coupon/etc. I had my worst experience yet when they failed to get in touch about our reservation and wound up selling our seats that we had already paid for AND refusing a refund on the spot. They went into great detail about craziness like two cooks not showing up on their end, and we were admittedly late to the show because the start time changed when the show date changed and we failed to note that. HOWEVER, that could have been resolved if they'd actually called me back about the rez. In fact, I got a private message from the owner about an earlier version of this review, but NO CALL BACK about my much more time-senstitive reservation for that same night. You know, the one I had been calling and voicemailing and emailing about all dang week, including minutes before posting said review. SUPER frustrating that he responded to the customer-facing thing but not to the actual customer service issue. Plus, once we got there and were refused either seats or a refund, he was standoffish and defensive and blame-y about it. The whole thing was very poorly handled, so I confess that I may be biased against the joint now after that terrible and unprofessional experience.
That said, if you're a small party and you don't care about a reservation and you don't have a Groupon or a birthday freebie and you're compulsively early as a rule, you may still have a good time here, so I'll do my best to remain objective in the rest of this review.
OK, YES, the food and drinks are boring and lame and standard, but what do you expect? No stars off for this. It's called a COMEDY SPOT. That should warn you just fine. Get something tame like a burger or a Caesar salad with chicken and a few beers and tip your server well and know that you're helping support a cool venue that books cool artists.
The other bummer is the audience. I don't mean to knock the Kirkland crowd, but most shows we've been to here, it feels like 80% of the folks just showed up for generic "comedy" and we in the "WOO we love this specific comedian and drove all the way here to support them!" crowd are the minority. I get the feeling that by laughing (often uncontrollably) at obscure/dry punchlines that totally fall dead with the bulk of the crowd, we're somehow bothering everyone else and getting in the way of their generic Friday-drunk-night experience. That part's a bummer. SO that just means we really need more cool true comedy fans from wherever to get their asses over to Laughs and help make up a more appreciative, amused, less sloppy/jaded audience. Then we can all have a great experience together! You know, assuming our seats don't get sold to another party.
Oh, and PSA: The owner Dave only sounds drunk. He has a type of cerebral palsy that affects his speech, and he seems to enjoy making this oh-I-drank-too-much gag. Don't let that factor into your impression of the place.
I've been torn on how many stars to give Laughs. I've decided on 4 stars because I dislike the competition so much I want more people to give Laughs a try.
If I was rating this place on the food, they'd get a 1. We tried three items and were completely turned off. No way would we eat here again, we'd just buy tickets for the late show and eat on our way in. Â
My 4 stars go to the fact that this club is exactly what you want in a comedy club. Â Kind of divey, yet clean. Â No big names yet really great comedians worth checking out. Â A great view from all seats! Â Nice staff! Â Parking! Â
I'm just going to come out and say it... DO NOT GO TO THE PARLOR. Â Just read the reviews and you'll get a taste of why. Â Please support a club like Laughs - they get it right!
I have driven past this place for years and never knew it was here. Finally the Wednesday before Thanksgiving I decided to check it out with some friends.
The place was packed, and our server told us Thanksgiving is one of the busiest days for them. Â Our friends got there early enough so we got really good seats. The place is low-key casual, dressing up is not necessary. They have chairs set up with little cocktail tables. They serve food and have a full bar, there is a 2 item minimum per person. Our server was on top of things, always around.
The comedy is dirty and very funny. The night we went, all the comedians were hilarious.
Now that I know this place exists, I will be back.
My (24/30 for November)
For our anniversary, my wife wanted to go to a Comedy Club, something neither of us had done in a very long time. Â We found Laugh's Comedy Spot in Kirkland and decided to give it a go. Â
They have a frequently changing line up of comics, which I guess helps keep the jokes fresh. Â The night we went, they had two comedians from NYC.
The club has a two  /item/ minimum (not drinks) and a nice menu of drinks and food from which to choose.  I had the butternut squash ravioli, and my wife had the Crisp Apple salad, both of which were pretty good. It wasn't out of this world, but it allowed us to blend comedy club and get dinner too.  Unlike places in Bellevue, they don't rape you on cocktail prices, but don't expect artisan cocktails, but your old standbys.
Given that the club is in a strip mall, with only a few other late night eateries, its quite easy to find parking.
Buy your tickets online, they're a few bucks cheaper than at the door.
If you're looking for a laugh and a night out that won't break the bank, Laughs is a pretty good way to go.
After my review, which was completely based on my personal experience and my opinion of that experience, I received an email from the owner David.
I sent him back a cordial response and he in turn sent me another response.
I then received a nasty email from someone in his business called Mitchell. It was a disgusting message saying I should change my post and then he projected his hatred of handicapped people on to me.
I've been ignoring the nasty emails but then David the owner posts a reply to my original comment calling me a name.
I have asked that Yelp remove his comment, but I can't guarantee they will. So here's the full conversation - so you can judge for yourself who the MEAN person is...
peace and peas
********Message 1 from David D. in response to my yelp post********
Just wanted you to know, I was not drunk. I have cerebral palsy ataxia.
We were short a cook & a 2 servers. I apologize for your wait. If you like to try us again, I would be happy to invite you and a guest to come see a show on us.
Dave
***********My Response to Message 1 from David D:********
My bad David. Maybe when you are on stage - Â you shouldn't tell people that you drank too much... which you said.
I appreciate your offer to have us come in as a guest, but I'll pass. Our first experience there should have made us want to come back - not an offer to get it right next time... but i do appreciate it.
take care :)
*********Message 2 from David D. ********
I just use it as a character when I get on stage. I haven't really done any comedy since we opened, I am self concious of my condition. When a liquor agent comes to check on us, they know. But if it is a new agent to the area, they ask me if I had been drinking.
Which really sucks.
Could you at least describe your server. If it is who I think it is...that is a bad hire, we are interviewing people right now to remedy the situation
*******Message 1 from Mitchell B.********
Dave has Cerebral Palsy. His slight slur on stage is not due to alcohol consumption but a debilitating condition to his nervous system.
I perform there quite often, and last night he told me he wasn't going to perform anymore because of your review. That might not be a bad thing, but you should at least go back into your review and say
"Then the club owner gets on stage...His Cerebral Palsy is so bad you can barely understand a word...handicapped people shouldn't be allowed to partake in public speaking".
Service: 4 stars - the gal we had as really nice and she helped us pick out a bottle of wine when the one we originally selected was out. However she did forget a couple times to bring back our friends beers...
Food: 1 star and that is being generous. Ordered the baked brie which was a tiny slice of cheese, half of an apple and some grapes with some cold toasted bread. Then we tried the spinach dip because the brie wasnt enough even for a snack so how bad can some spinach dip be? Well again it was like it was microwaved and then they through on some stale tortilla chips....My friend who ordered the chicken caesar said the chicken was like the pre-packaged kind you get from costco...
Drinks: forget the mixed drinks, there is hardly any booze in them, stick to the beer and wine.
show: 5 stars for sure! great act good seats.
Advice: If you are like my group who bought their livingsocial/groupon deal, it was a good deal, just dont waste it on food and use it to get drinks.
Laughs is NOT in a ghetto area... some of the reviews and even one of my co-workers were saying that Laughs was in the ghetto part of Kirkland! lol... not even close! Kirkland does not have a ghetto part... just a "not as nice" part. I'm not from kirkland, I'm from White Center so when I heard it was in a ghetto part of town I was prepared for the worse! Â PSH... ghetto my ass!!
Anyways... Laughs is a small but spacious little spot. I liked the set-up (tiny tables, all of which  faced the stage). Mitch B. invited me as a guest to see a show. There weren't any big names there but with real comedy you don't need big names. The show was hilarious!  Even the not funny stuff made me chuckle. In a smaller setting it just feels more intimate and this are just funnier! I don't have any real complaints or anything. The food was ok, the drinks were fine and the service was friendly. All in all, a good time... I'd definitely come back for another show!
Yes, it is in a strip mall in Kirkland. But don't let that deter you from going.
The most wonderful thing about laughs is how accessible it is and how easy it is to find and the abundance of parking.
Laughs is what a comedy club should be. Â Casual, cool and friendly. The drinks are strong, the comedians are funny and the staff is friendly, fast and efficient! Lots of funny local talent is featured before the main act. And I LOVE that they have Jello Shots.. which for me just adds to the fun.
Wonderful setup, every single seat gives you a wonderful and comfortable view of the stage. The tables are very small, so don't order too much to eat and don't bring a "ginormous" purse with you. (The food is "just okay".. but hey, it's a comedy club.. you go for the laughs.. not the cuisine.. if the food were tastier I'd definitely give 5 stars!)
This is definitely my go-to comedy club for a casual night out with friends or my sweetie.
Just a fun awesome place with wonderful staff and great talent that they showcase.
10/10 would definitely go again!!!
Second time is the charm. After a not-so-fun experience a regular performer/host at Laughs reached out and was apologetic and kind. He offered to bring me back with my friends for another performance. This time, it was fun and we all enjoyed ourselves. My only complaints are that it gets a little warm inside with all the people packed in so tightly and that it was hard to get someone to bring us water (we asked 3 times). I really didn't want to interrupt the comedian.
BUT, I did laugh until my tummy hurt... so I can most definitely give Laughs a solid 4-star rating.
Thank you Mitch.
came here with a friend who bought a groupon for comedy night for 2 and $35 worth of food.
first of all, i didn't even know this existed in kirkland. its very small inside but surprisingly got packed for the 8pm show. we didn't even really know the performers but we were pretty entertained and it was a fun time.
as for the food - the hummus was OK and the nachos were pretty good. if you check in on yelp u get a free cheesecake but we were too full to try the cheesecake.
overall - good place, good laughs. a fun date night option or even a girls night out kind of place! parking is easy and staff is very friendly. oh also.. since this was my first comedy show.. i thought you had to dress up like on TV stand-up shows but.. you don't! hahaha.
Cozy venue for laughs! The place is in a little strip mall off the highway. There isn't a bad seat in the house. The way they place their seats and tables give you a perfect view of the stage.
We arrived there an hour early to order food and drinks. The nachos and sweet potato fries were absolutely amazing!
During the show, our waitress kept checking up on us to see if we wanted more drinks. I would definitely come back here for another show and the great service and food they provide.
I've had fun here several times. The food is so so, and I don't think the drinks are terribly strong, but I've always enjoyed the comedians and gotten a good laugh. Turn around time can be slow on drinks, and getting a glass of water isn't always easy.
Like others have said, show up a little early, as the line does get long.
Quaint and small place, perfect for a date night, the comedians were funny, the food was super fattening and greasy like you were at a stadium for a game greasy, but it was worth it!
Plenty of parking, small tables so dont bring big purses and you can be casual here, so dont worry ladies heels wont be necessary here :-)
My boyfriend and I got a GROUPON several months ago and finally used it in May, a few weeks ago!
Honestly, we went in to it thinking it would be lame, especially my boyfriend. I haven't ever had a friend tell me about Laughs, so who knew.
It was hilarious and a VERY fun night! Funny comedians, great seats, yummy food and drinks AND, I think my favorite part was the seating and the fact that it is a much smaller comedy club, than one might think it would be. From my experience of watching comedy live (which isn't often) at a comedy club, is that they are so busy, so it is hard to hear and just not near as enjoyable.
I highly recommend Laughs and it is a great place for a date anytime :)
Since Giggles closed we've been searching for a decent comedy joint and I think we've found it here!
Their located in north Kirkland (a plus) to not have to cross the 520 bridge with the new toll etc. It's in an strip mall and offers great drink & food options too.
I went last month to celebrate my b-day which ended up being FREE for the four of us. If you sign up (the little white sheets on the tables) then you get 5 free tickets for your birthday. At $20 a person I'd say that's a great deal!
We've been twice and each time has been great! It's clean, the staff is super friendly and I hope they stick around. Each time we've been it's been packed so that's a good indication they know what their doing.
Show up about an hour before show time since the line gets very long very quick.
Funny. Â It was in a strip center, but well disguised as a comedy club. Â They did a great job on the redo. Â Two item minimum; drink or food or what-not. Â The food was not bad. Â
We sat almost on the stage and it was really fun, not too much pimping for our table. Â I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. Â Â
The servers are very attentive and the restrooms were clean.
Oh and the acts you say? Â The warmup/MC was pretty good. Â The next guy just ok, and the headliner, from NYC, was really outstanding. Â He's a pro. Â What I did like in the acts; they didn't throw out alot of f*bombs just to get a laugh.
Reasonable pricing and ok food completed a great evening. Â We'll make the drive in from Wallingford again!
Laughs is a great place to hang out on a Tuesday night. Their open mic's are free, you just need a 2 item minimum which isn't that bad with their "starving artist menu" prices. Make sure you get there before 8:30 so that you don't miss anything!
..open mic's can take some time so get comfy because you can possible be there until 11 but it's a good time regardless.
Laughs is awesome. I love to go to shows there, perform there, and hang out there after shows. The owners are extremely hands on and the staff is awesome.
A visit to Laughs will provide a guaranteed laugh - especially when I am there October 19th-22nd :)
Audience advice: sit up front, don't heckle, turn your phones off, pee and poop before the show, eat and drink a lot, and take care of the waitstaff!
To this day I'm curious to know if I can come back. A little advice, don't pre-funk at 3 different places before going to a comedy show. Every comedian will either suck or be the most hilarious shit you've ever heard since you last got drunk.
Yes, we heckled all three comedians.
Yes, we were threaten to get kicked out on 3 different occasions.
Yes, one was funny and 2 actually sucked.
No, and hell no the drinks were not cheap.
Yes, the service was super slow, but that might have to do more with our group of 15 not being so approachable.
And lastly:
Yes, I blew up in the bathroom.
I would definitely give this fine establishment another chance sober or less inebriated.
I am rating the food and service, Â they had great food. Â I never expected to get a salad at a comedy club. Â I expected bar food and was pleasantly surprised. Â There was the typical chicken sandwich, spicy burger not a fan of spicy but then there were things like hummus plates. Â I think that having healthy choices is a bonus because I tend to be a salad snob. Â
I saw a free show so how could I complain, they were amateurs competing and I felt sorry for a few of them but the rest had me laughing a few times. Â
The service was great, really friendly, and right there when you needed them. Â
I didn't have to wait in the freezing cold either so I was happy.
This is the best comedy club in the greater Seattle area. The stage is large and well-lit, and you can see and hear the comics from any part of the room, which is extra important when there are very physical comics on-stage. Imagine that--actually being able to see the show you paid to see!
The menu is a bit more upscale than you tend to see at comedy clubs--opting for restaurant quality as opposed to bar food, so expect to pay accordingly. The staff is friendly, attentive, and courteous, and most nights the owners are on site to meet and greet anyone who is interested in comedy. They also have a partnership with the Liquid Lime next door, so after the show is over, you can mingle with the comics and the regulars if you so desire.
The weekends generally showcase hot national acts, and weeknights focus on the best comics the region has to offer. Tuesday nights are open mic nights, which are especially fun as newbies fight stage jitters alongside veterans testing new material; anything goes! Tuesdays also have the lowest cover charge, and a 'starving artist' menu where everything is two bucks or less. Also good--free parking, and access to bus lines in case you overindulge.
I've been to/performed at most all of the comedy clubs in the greater Seattle area, and this is, hands-down, my absolute favorite.
