I've been coordinating weekly happy hours this summer and Layover is my favorite to date. Their happy hour specials are fantastic ($1 off beers, wine, and well drinks) and the bartenders are nice and friendly. They didn't even set a min for credit cards, which is appreciated. And the drinks are STRONG, which is a pleasant change from the last Greyhound I bought at Cafe Van Kleef that didn't appear to contain any alcohol.
It's a little divey, but there are plenty of seats, which helps when you come in a group. They had a DJ there on Thursday, though we left before things got too busy. Two thumbs up for this place for post-work happy hours.
Great spot to come and get your groove on. Â This is the first dance floor that I've been to in Oakland and it did not disappoint. Â I came here on a Saturday night and the DJ had the floor rocking the whole time I was there (I arrived around midnight with a great buzz going). Â I would definitely come back here.
Review Source:This is, hands down, my favorite bar in Oakland. I love this place so much! There is just something about the vibe here. They always play great music. The kind you can dance to; a little hip hop mixed with a little funk. The people that frequent at this bar are always chill relaxed regulars that keep the vibe going. The bartenders are super friendly, and greet you with a smile even when they're swamped. I always leave here in a good mood because I have so much fun.
The only complaint is that it's not ventilated at all so you will sweat your buns off. Don't bring a jacket, you won't need it, haha. I wish they would blast the AC more! But it's mainly because everyone is dancing to the awesome music.
Check this place out as soon as you can!
