I've eaten there twice now, and the food has been amazing! Â Most recently for Restaurant Week, I had the Duck and Andouille Eggrolls, Cochon de Lait Platter, and Beignets and Ice Cream, and I cannot say a single negative thing about all three courses. Â They successfully take Southern food and bring it to the next level. Â Huge fan!
Review Source:Last night's experience was horrible. Â I am very busy right now and can not elaborate like I want BUT I will say based on last night's experience with my young professional organization's social, this place will not last long. Â
They just got a new manager.....I don't know where he came from but he needs training. Â I was schooling him on menu, prices, advertisement which he ignored. Â
I'll tell ya more laters......
First, I should preface my review with a note stating that I did not have a typical dining experience with LBT. The nonprofit I work for wanted to throw an end-of-the-semester banquet for our high school youth, and we were having difficulty finding a restaurant to accommodate our group and our budget. A friend of mine put me in contact with the Executive Chef, and he worked with us to plan an absolutely fantastic meal that stayed within our rather limited budget.
They set up tables for us with a rather nice dining area in the lounge. We work with underserved youth in the Baton Rouge community, and many of them said that they had never experienced a meal as nice as the meal Chef Blake prepared for us. He prepared a truly unique experience that wasn't even on the menu.
Honestly, I have spent the last day trying to find one thing wrong with the meal -- I can't. Our main course was a vegetable primavera with grilled chicken on rotini pasta. I have rarely tasted a dish with such simplicity and flavor. The chicken was tender, and the presentation was exquisite.
As much as I enjoyed the main course, I have to say that the crowning moment of the whole affair was the bread pudding. While this is not on the menu at present, I feel certain that its addition would do nothing but strengthen the already tremendous choices from LBT. It was divine, perfectly sweet and just the right texture. And the sauce. My words fail me, and those who know me that I rarely have little to say. So many of our youth wanted us to have the dessert at every event.
After the kids left, we were able to try some of the beverages from the bar. They were all expertly done and very strong. I also decided to try the Abita Battered Shrimp Corn Dogs. It is an Abita beer batter on a giant shrimp that is then deep fried. It comes with a blackened aoili dipping sauce. It was amazing. The dipping sauce had a great blend of spices that complimented the tempura breading well.
Overall, you may not be able to experience exactly what I did, but I would suggest going and having your own top-notch dining adventure.
