Had some Lil Cheezers when they were parked out in front of Nachbar one night. I enjoyed it very much despite not being able to finish it all by myself. I had the Fancy pants which I really enjoyed and my friends got the caprese which was awesome and had balsamic vinegar in it to give it something special. I would happily grab a sandwich from them next time I'm in Louisville.
Review Source:We stood outside in a cold drizzle for our sandwiches for a pretty long time. But that may have made them taste better. Comfort food al fresco. I'm not sure I'd run a red light to catch this food truck, but I look forward to eating here again.
I like the juxtaposition between the images conjured by "Gourmet" versus "Lil Cheezers" (or "Cheesemobile" for that matter). But basically it's a grilled cheese that's as dressed up - or plain - as you want it. And of the 9 kinds of cheese available, none has the letter "z" or the word "product" in it, and none starts with "V" and ends in "veeta".
We didn't build our own though, opting for the specialties. The lady went with the Caprese, which is perfect. Nicely spiced with tomato, mozzarella, fresh basil. My Fancy Pants - caramelized onions, brie, apple, walnuts - was a little off. I'd lose the onions (which weren't caramelized enough) and add the apple later to keep it crisper. My fave part may have been the homemade chips, which come with a curried ketchup.
What's most impressive is that they have managed to diversify their menu while still serving pretty much one thing. Lil Cheezers has vegan options, or you can load up your sandwich with various meats.
Look for the little truck that's colored like a school bus, possibly being pursued by overweight men.
