This place was ok....nothing special.  I only went there to try the fried chicken that I'd heard about.  The atmosphere was that of a bar.  The customers were into the Bear's game and were cool.  As for the chicken, it was better than KFC, but that's about it.  I hear it sucks since the new owners took over.

Been wanting to be in the area again to have the biggest and tastiest basket of large shrimp....Loncar Liquors has been in the neighborhood for many years now.....they are known for their fried chicken but yours truly loves the shrimp here !!!! Chon the bartender hooked it up...I felt as if I was dining in a five star restaurant with his attention to detail...Butch and Teresa the owner's should be proud that his people are doing a great job when they are not there.....soooo remember when your  in the neighborhood stop by and enjoy one of Chicago's best  !!!

My dad been taking me to there with my family since when I was little kid. Owner know my dad since 1980's. Loncar's french fries, chicken, colesaw and hot sauce is so fucking good! When we going to Calumet Park beach, my dad always stop at Loncar's to take out for picnic. its part of my childhood memories, I will visit it again someday! :)

Have been going here for about 25 years to drink and eat.  Not sure about the chicken with the feather in it claim cause they bread their chicken daily and it rocks.

They also have fish, shrimp, burgers, dogs, polish, appetizers, and pork chop sandwiches too (pretty tasty!).

On Mondays they have hot wings (25 ct. each eat in, 35 ct. each take out).  And on Wed. they make crispy tacos for $1.50 ea. which are not as good as mommas but worth a try.

I usually come in 2 - 4 times a month for some beers and food.

I don't like given reviews less then 3 stars, but I have to keep it real and true to my fan base.  I do have fans, don't I ;p

Anyways, after exposing my good friend Dean to the other local fried chicken joint, I decided it was time we gave Loncar's a try.

I haven't eaten Loncar's chicken in a long while, and they are under new management now, but I now know why we mostly ate from the other place.

First of all, my chicken wing had a feather on it.  No big deal.  I don't freak out about that kind of stuff, but still.  It's the principle of the matter.

Secondly, the flavoring of the chicken was just lacking.  It seemed like the chicken was just breaded, no seasoning added or anything.

Thirdly, the cuts of chicken had too many fatty pockets and other excess fat that could have/should have been removed.

Finally, the bread rolls didn't seem fresh.  They were dry and hard.

I guess growing up on chicken from the other place has set my standards high.  I will say that the fries were tasty.

As always, I will try anything twice.... So I will go back and update this review.  My sister married the nephew of the owners.  So I'm sure they'll hear about my review.  I hope they don't take it the wrong way.

I will also like to comment, that the bar area did look 'shady' as someone else mentioned, but it's a cool looking 'dive' like atmosphere. The craziest thing is that you can buy liquor from the refrigerator section or from the bar tender.  Kinda neat if you ask me.  Plus I'm told this is one of the only places you can find a drink koozie for a 40. ;p

Why is this named Loncar Liquors?  Yes it does have a small package store at the front, but otherwise it is a classic Chicago tavern.  Inexpensive drinks and selection of deep fried food.  The proximity to the end of a Metra line as well as being a popular spot with local residents means a diverse customer base.

Anyone can walk in to Loncars sit down and blend right in.

This is one of those scary bars that doesn't have windows. It took a while for me to get the up the courage to actually go in. It's not that bad.

Cheap beer and drinks. Interesting locals. Jukebox.

I recently "confessed" to a co-worker that I hadn't had fried chicken since high school. She was appalled and the next week we were eating fried chicken and fries at Loncar's. Not great, not bad but it got the job done.

Fact: I was hit on here by a guy with 3 fingers. He also serenaded me with "Beth" by Kiss. Jealous?
