The the salt and pepper fried fish was good. I liked the eggplant in garlic sauce, but the bell pepper was not needed in it. I think they need to change their Chili oil because it did not look right.

Good prices, friendly servers. The food is pretty darn good! I've gotten the black pepper beef, szechwan style dishes, scallops and they've all been wonderful. the green tea accompanying the meal is standard but does add to the experience. i don't tend to order too many variety of items, but everything i've tried has been great!

I don't understand the low scores. I loved the steamed white fish with ginger and it was great. Came back the next night (tonight) and we had the barbequed pork (chashu) appetizer, Szechwan Shrimp (they used jalapeno peppers), sweet and sour pork, and wide noodle dish. The food is not fresh, it is pre-cooked and then reheated. You can tell, because everything has that wilted, last serving at a wedding buffet consistency. Now I understand the low scores. The food is just not fresh.

They say they have pan-fried noodles, but they are not the doughy pan-fried noodles I'm used to at Cantonese restaurants. It was more like Thai Pad Tai noodles.

Avoid. Bad food. Soup from a can. Dirty & old booths.  I have been done eating for 15 min, I am watching my server eat and socialize while I wait for my bill so I can go back to work. Horrible, horrible service, food, management.

Don't try the chicken!   But the black pepper beef, egg plant, and curry squid is not bad.  Definitely not a foodie delight, far from it, but it's an ok place for the price.

Good prices. Pretty good food. Ok service. The lobster special is similar to King Harbor Seafood but without the $200 price tag. 3lbs is only $36! I come just for the lobster!

After reviewing the closed Monterrey Bay Canners and being surprised that it closed, I just had to look this place up because I figured that it would've been closed by now.  Strangely enough, it's still in business.  How odd, because it seemed like part of a ghost town.  I walked around the plaza where this is located about 2 years ago and peeked into the windows and it was deader than a doornail.  It was open that day, but nobody was there at all except for the staff.  It looked so depressing and even run-down.  That whole section of the plaza was rather deserted anyway, but especially this restaurant.  I know that they could probably really use more customers, but I hate eating in empty restaurants.  Not only is it depressing, but if it's so dead, it must be for good reason and makes me wonder if the food is probably bad or makes people sick or something.  The Chinese restaurant that time forgot.  Tsk.  I guess they don't care because they don't advertise - not that I know of, anyway.

Came he for a post thankgsgiving lunc with the extended family.  I tried Yelping Chinese restaurants in the area before heading down from LA but nothing really came up.  Our relatives recommened this place.  Overall flavors were similar to what'd you find in monterey park for Chinese food but the portions would be smaller than what'd you get there(but that's simply cause there's too much competition in Monterey Park).  However, considering there isn't much Chinese food in the area this place is pretty decent.

True to Chinese restaurant style, it doesn't seem like they turn on the lights during the day :P.  Anyway, here's what we had(Pictures of most items uploaded):

Eggplant with Garlic Sauce - Very oily, pretty authentic
String Bean with Szchewan Sauce - Done well,  alittle on the wet side, this dish should be stir fried dry
Moo Shu Chicken - OK, I know this is a lunch special but this was a bad deal.  You only get two wrappers for with this dish.  We asked for extra wrappers and it only came out to 4 wraps and there was nothing left.  I guess that's ok if you have a family of 4 but the staff didn't tell us so there wasn't enough for everyone.
Orange Flavored Chicken - most everyone thought this was too sweet, but you really can't expect much... i wouldn't really say this is an authentic chinese dish anyway
Fish Fillet with Black Bean Sauce - pretty standard since black beans are on the salty side
Seafood Claypot(not sure if this the right name, I took home the special lunch menu and this is not a special lunch dish)  Was about $11.95, i think.  Was probably the most popular dish on the table.  Would recommend for large groups but kind of pricey.
Shrimp Lo Mein - (Pan Firend Noodles $.50 Extra).  Ok, I don't know if I've ever seen charging extra for pan friend noodles but this dish went pretty quickly.  It was recommended by the locals
Beaf with Satay Sauce - I didn't eat this dish but it seemed to be pretty popular
Pork Chop with Spicy Salt - This dish is hard to get wrong.  This was the most popular meat dish.

This is definately acceptable Chinese food.  Just have to know what to order and this is probably as good as it gets around the area.

Food: 2 (3 for the surrounding area)
    Service: 2.5

My boyfriend and I thought we would give this place a try because it is near our house, we will not be going back anytime soon. The service was good, but the food was not. We had two of the lunch specials, which come with a very bland egg drop soup, and a pretty good egg roll. The wontons were stale, but the sauce was tasty. We ordered kung pao chicken and the beef/shrimp/chicken lo mein. I have never to this day had a kung pao that was not spicy, let alone had absolutely no flavor. The noodle tasted burnt, and had the taste of the pan they cooked it on.  Even the soy sauce was watered down. It makes since when you realize it is near laguna woods, and therefore made for old people with no taste buds.

a 3-Star Yelp rating is officially defined by Yelp as "A-Ok" and this Chinese Restaurant on Moulton near the Irvine border in Laguna Hills is just that: It's A-Ok to me!

Perhaps there may be better, more authentic tasting Chinese Food restaurants around, Long River is not at all that bad, and the quality is good.

I order the MooShoo Pork and Crispy Fried Noodles most of the time.

Their lunch menu is varied and very reasonably priced.

BEEN THERE: Many times, eat in and take out.

    WAIT: Rarely ever

    SERVICE: Good, staff generally friendly

AMBIANCE: nothing special and just fine.

FOOD QUALITY: not extremely authentic but good enough. Crispy Fried Noodles are great though.

    FOOD PORTIONS: Average

Our party of 12 came in on a Sunday afternoon and probably caught the staff offguard. After a short wait they were able to put a table together for us - just like that. I will go to the food after I make a first initial review of the service. The service was crap. Unfriendly, unresponsive, and just plain cold. One person in our party had to leave for a important meeting early and they immediately frowned on that. After we ordered and waited for twenty-five minutes for our food to come, the one person in our party tried half a dozen times to get them to either bring her order quicker or bag it to go, with little or no results. Maybe they were under a little bit of stress because they didn't expect to be so busy but still I would give the service a complete failing grade. Now as far as the food is concern. As a Chinese man who can easily tell the authentic compared with Chinese cooked for Gringos, I would give this a C. It is just good enough for a Chinese person to enjoy, better than steam table cuisine, and inexpensive.

We've been coming here for quite awhile and we always find it considerably better than any other local Chinese places.  We always order Egg Foo Young which isnt actually on the menu but they will make it for you.  It is fantastic and the serving size is quite substantial.  You have your choice of chicken, shrimp or beef.  The moo shu chicken is another staple we order and frankly sometimes its better than others.  All of their fried rice dishes are also excellent.  It's a great little place for some great chinese with plenty left over.

We were hoping this place would be a hidden gem like Formosa in Lake Forest was. Just to be safe we ordered some staples which are hard to mess up: BBQ pork fried rice (lil guy's choice), Singapore noodles (hubby's choice) and ma po tofu (my choice.

During lunch time they bring you complimentary egg drop soup. It was okay. I'm not a fan for Chinese soups which have been thickened with corn starch. The only one I'm okay with is hot and sour soup.

Ma po tofu was very bleh. It really had no ma po flavors and it wasn't spicy at all even though there was a chili pepper next to it on the menu. The server also didn't ask how spicy we wanted it. I added chili sauce to it and it sufficed. Lil guy seemed to like the tofu, but then again, he likes tofu any style.

The BBQ pork fried rice was excellent. It was just as good as any you'd find in Monterey Park. Flavorful and fried on high heat.

Unfortunately, the Singapore noodles were less than stellar. When hubby ordered it, the server said to him "it's noodles in a curry sauce, it's spicy". I found that incredibly humorous. Maybe he looked like he didn't know what Singapore noodles were. When the noodles arrived it just looked wrong. The noodles were very overcooked and they were anemic in color. They didn't use enough curry powder so it tasted bland.

I saw someone at another table eat deep fried flounder and that looked really good. Wish I had ordered that instead.

Service is good. If you're not too adventurous and like Chinese food, this place will suffice. If you're a stickler for authenticity then I might suggest going somewhere else.

Food was 2.5 and I'm bumping them up to 3 due to good service.
