I have never had an issue here for the most part. Â Here some highlights & low lights of this place:
*Decent Happy Hour
*Close to the office
*Awesome Juke Box
*Better than average bar food (includes burgers, mexcian and vietnamese...)
*Poker Tournaments
*Several Pool Tables
*Enclosed Patio/Smoking area but the windows open
*Tons of regulars
*2 Bars
*Well laid out
*Super small bathrooms that aren't always that clean depending on what time of day/night you are there
*Parking lot is a train wreck
*Service is hit or miss
It's a great place to grab a couple of beers with friends randomly especially during HH. Â They also appear to have some great deals on beer during football season.
Cheers!
I've been here a handful of times over a year now - pretty evenly spaced. Â So I think I've gotten a decent feel for the place. Â I keep going back because it's conveniently located...but then only maybe once every couple of months. Â It's because of the food. Â Sometimes I'm craving bar food and they do it pretty well. Â The wings are almost awesome. Â The oriental food is pretty killer too.
But the 3 stars is for the staff. Â They get one - food gets 5...I'm meeting in between. Â I've never seen the same crew behind the bar. Â And while the bartenders are usually at least somewhat easy on the eyes, they're just unreasonably clueless on a remarkably consistent basis. Â Frustratingly so, really. Â
The bathroom is extra super cozy, which is sorta buddy. Â I never look forward to that. Â Never caught anything special in the drink prices. Â One guy in a white plumber's van keeps running into cars...twice in my visits and I hardly ever darken the door. Â Â
I never bonded with the regulars much either. Â It always feels like I'm among those drowning sorrows instead of toasting good times or sharing ideas. Â There are usually a couple of drunk & happy local tables bouncing around, but still, I'm usually ready to go after one beer. Â
I guess for a bottom line - it'll do in a pinch. Â But nothing to write yelp about.
I am a Pho fan and this place has the best broth I have ever had. Â It smells good, it tastes good, it IS GOOD. Â I can't let a week go by before I start craving their Pho again. Â I will continue to back time and time again. Â From the outside, it does not look like much. Â Don't let that fool you. Â Oh! Â And it is super cheap for what you get.
Review Source:Ok guys and girls, this is a hidden jewel! Â Been there a couple of times and both times the service was super fast and friendly. The food was extremely fresh and tasty. Last time went with group. Everyone had something different and the servings were large. Try the fried pickles - yum! The Vietnamese food, especially with tofu, is great. Two thumbs up - I'll be back!
Review Source:So we were hungry and stopped at Long Shots. One of us had been wanting to try it because they had Vietnamese food. Another felt like taking a chance. We go on and find a bar with pool tables and some regulars. So what is a neighborhood joint doing with Vietnamese food? What I do know is the decent ratings for this place are well deserved. The bowls with rice noodles and meat are great, the egg rolls are not standard at all...instead they are very tasty and served looking great. They have wings too! Not bad and sitting out in their patio room we watched the traffic but loved the food! Not five stars yet because we did not try more of the menu but definitely worth stopping by when you're hungry and in the area.
Review Source:You would never know this is a Vietnamese food restaurant if the sign didn't say it was. Â Their menu is interesting, typical bar food (burgers, wings, etc) on one side and then Vietnamese food on the other side. Â
I went on a Saturday afternoon. Â The place wasn't very crowded. Â The service was ok, the waitress was very friendly, but if you are looking for speedy this isn't the place. Â We sat on the patio which was nice, but it also serves as the smoking patio. Â You have to expect that with the "no smoking" in restaurants law in CO, but it still sucks if you want patio seating. Â
We tried some wings (just as an appetizer to see how they were), they were tasty and they gave us lots of ranch which is a big bonus in my book as most places give you a small cup. Â For a meal I had a Vietnamese noodle bowl. Â I opted for the choose any 2 meats plus an egg roll bowl. Â I LOVE Vietnamese egg rolls, the ones at this place were ok, didn't match my favorite, but they were tasty. Â Then I got pork and beef as my meats. Â They were good, a little dry, but still tasty. Â I had to ask for the Hoisin sauce, but they had it and brought it right out. Â
Overall, this was definitely tasty and I would definitely eat here again. Â The ambiance is very "bar-y" and you can smell the years of smoke from when smoking was allowed in the restaurant. Â If you are going for a meal I would avoid the high bar traffic times as you can tell it's a pool/drinking bar at night.
For Wheatridge though I haven't found a lot of Vietnamese restaurant options and this is a great one (even if just for order ahead takeout).
Long Shots Bar and Grill has everything you can ask for ...
PROS: Cute waitresses, drink specials, live music, shuffleboard, pool and a LOT of TV's.
CONS: Line for the restrooms all night, small parking lot, and a few extra drinks showed up on my tab and I was billed at a slightly higher rate for my drink then advertised. (1.75 versus 2.50).
I didn't eat here but the Bowls looked delicious ....
I certainly come back again but would watch my bar bill a bit closer next time.
aka "Long Shot Bar & Grill"
Another "New Saigon" restaurant in Denver? It gets confusing but you're a long way from South Federal baby, in more ways than one.
I think I ordered the wrong thing (stir fry), it was okay; Better than say a TV dinner, but not the awesome Vietnamese mouth trip I anticipated. Nevertheless, above par for bar food. I'm just guessing by reading the other reviews that menu items here will be a hit and miss, depending on the day.
The husband was already talking about bringing the kiddo here for chicken wings (WTF?) This was not the man I married. lol.
I never thought I'd say this but... this is the best. I mean the best Vietnamese food I've had. Amazingggg flavors on all the foods!!! Easily my favorite. Like other people are saying, the noodle bowls are absolutely amazing. Bursts of different flavors all working perfectly well together. I have been going back to this place from time and time again.
The Lamb chops were awesome! Sadly, the "stir fried" type of dishes were a bit sad. I think they just overpower the food with too much lemon grass here and you can really never finish eating them without drinking tons of water. But for now, I still love this place for all the noodles and chops they have! =)
2 reviews: first for the Vietnemese food, second for the bar.
THE FOOD: I have heard rumors that this place is owned by (or shares chefs with) New Saigon on S. Federal, although this has never been confirmed nor denied. Maybe one day I will just ask. Anyway, I have looked at New Saigon's menu online, and have to say that they are nothing alike. But I digress.
The food in general is very hit or miss. I can guarantee that if you get the lemongrass duck or curried duck, your taste buds will rejoice. And at only $9 a piece, you can't go wrong. Those two entrees are main staples for me and the bf. Their spring rolls are also bomb. I have never tried any of the American bar food, so I can't comment there.
THE BAR: Jesus christ. This place is definitely for locals- classic rock on the speakers, texas hold-em games every week night, and the vibe that everyone knows each other by name.
$1.75 domestic drafts every night, free pool Sunday and Monday, buy 1 get 1 pints on Thursday, and all you can drink domestic beer on Friday for only $5. Our bartender told us that for $5 not only can you drink all the beer you want, but you're guaranteed to see at least one bar fight. That kind of entertainment is worth $5 right there.
With that in mind, this isn't a place I would go to just to drink. Unless you are in your 40s and would describe yourself as "country," just come for the Vietnamese food and leave.
If you like Vietnamese food you will LOVE it after you visit Long Snots (the restaurant portion is called New Saigon). The first time I went I had a burger and onion rings, thinking, "this is just bar food". The burger was seasoned perfectly, the bun was toasted and the onion rings were fresh cut and batter dipped.
The next time I went I had an appetizer, that eats like a meal (and I ain't a small fella), called Shrimp stuffed beef. It is incredible! Jumbo shrimp wrapped with seasoned beef. You wrap them in lettuce and cucumber and dip them in a sweet/sour sauce (not the red kind), then in Sirachi sauce. AWESOME!
My wife always orders the Spring rolls and says they are to die for. We don't drink so I can't speak to that part of it...looks like all the normal fair you would expect. The cook is Vietnamese and cooks with all the love needed to truly make this a great dive! The prices are very reasonable too. Don't miss this place!!!
Very tasty noodle bowls! I was quite confused by the menu here, with its quasi-Mexican, quasi-American, quasi-Vietnamese fare. This would be a great place to take my husband, who's good for Asian food about once a month, whereas I could eat it every day.
We went here for a work happy hour around 4 on a Friday. It was not too busy, and I found the prices extremely reasonable. I would love to come back in the summer, when they have the big door/windows open to the outside.
If you're coming for a nice, romantic date, save it. The interior of this place is Hooters-esque. Stools, booths, and a lingering cigarette smoke smell from years of seeped-in smoke. If you can deal with that, it's definitely worth sticking around for some of their VIetnamese food!
Service? Â Pretty bad. Â Drinks? Â Slightly pricey. Â Pool? Â Free on Sundays and Mondays. Â

The three stars are for the food. Â The actual bar at Long Shot's gets about one and a half.
