Ok, Fri and Sat nights has latin music - a little salsa but mostly cumbias and a live band. It's a cozy little place. The drag show is really cool - covers of latin artisits and the guy that does Enrique Iglesias does a really good job. Plus there is one drag artist that can come close to passing for a voluptuous latina......if one didn't know any better. Then there is the one man male stripper show - he looks like Brendan Fraser.....my wife really likes him.....The only downer is the drinks are really expensive and light on alcohol (watered down).
Review Source:It was definitely a night to remember. My first clue should have been that they describe their own show as a travesty here on Yelp.
I came with a group of friends on a Friday night, and because our pre-func drinking took a little too long, by the time we arrived it was too late to use the passes we had printed from their [hilarious] website for free admission before 10:00. But the woman at the door kindly gave us a discount, allowing two of the seven in our group in for free. The rest of us paid the $15 cover charge, which seemed a little steep.
The host seated us at a table near the dance floor and stage, which was filled with people dancing. We soon learned that the $6 cans of Tecate and bottled water could only be paid for in cash. Fortunately, there was an ATM at the store around the corner. And while they will gladly bring you a bucket of beers, it costs exactly the same amount as if you purchase them individually. But people don't come to Los Candiles for the drink deals, they come to dance and for the show, which started promptly at 10:45.
The show included several acts and lasted about an hour. There were drag queens and back up dancers, some better than others. There was an exceptional Ricky Martin. But the part none of us will ever forget, and that had our jaws on the floor, was the male stripper. Well, he didn't actually take off much, save for dropping his pants enough to reveal his underwear, which fully exposed his cheeks. His routine started out innocently enough, giving a little lap dance action to women in the audience, but soon got raunchier and raunchier. By the end of the routine, he had a woman in a chair center stage, was bumping and grinding on her from all directions, and even placed her hand in his pants.
After the show was over, we all had a great time dancing. We didn't stay for the 12:45 show, which I can imagine was probably spicier than the earlier one.
What else? My friend left her wallet in the bathroom and the same woman from the door kindly found and returned it.
Los Candiles is a fun place to go dancing and get some serious entertainment, but if you go, bring cash!
