Colorado Wine Company

We first stopped here when the place was opened. Standing room only in a wine bar where there is not a lot of places to stand. Loved that their pours were good, wine was quality, cheese was awesome, and you could walk out with your favorite bottle for under 20. On our last visit what did we find? Craft beer on tap. Talk about making a good thing great. Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful. Parking can be tricky. On a busy night, you may have to walk the streets to get there. Definitely one of our favorite wine/beer shops around.

I love Colorado Wine! Great selections and the people really know their stuff.  I am not a baller and thus my purchases are on the lower end of the economic spectrum. I usually go in, tell them the kind of wine I want along with my budget, and voila. The bottles they recommend are always a hit at parties. I find it's better to come here than to go pick up a bottle blindly at a grocery store since the staff really knows their wine.

Buying fermented grape juice at most large grocery stores is always a gamble. If you try to judge quality on price of the bottle you may be disappointed, as inferior European wines incur heftier price tags than a local CA wine due to their 'fame', cost of transportation, exchange rate etc. Places like the Colorado Wine Company are a safer bet because you can actually inquire with the staff and they are happy to impart information on their wines. Of course, descriptions are odd (flowery, earthy, bold, bodied, etc. Who came up with such terms anyway? Try eating rose petals (they are edible) and then tell me about the relation to a flowery wine), so the best test is actual samples. I have been to this location several times and have not always been able to get samples before making a purchase. I wish that I could do so every time since spending money on a thirty dollar bottle you do not enjoy is hard to swallow. Perhaps if you ask nicely you can get samples? I am unsure what the policy is. Overall, the place is great.
