Loser's is a Country-Western bar in a commercial mixed-use development in the heart of Cool Springs. It's not hard to see why it does well; it has a prime location, there are plenty of hotels and office drones around, plus service-industry types, and LOTS of traffic. I've been in a couple of times, and I've never really been impressed.
The beer selection isn't bad, but the CO2 system is functioning poorly, if at all; all of their drafts were flat the last time I was in, and it was "acting up" the previous visits. I end up just ordering a bottle; at least they have real glasses here, unlike a few other Country-Western bars in the area...*cough* Tin Roof 2 *cough*
I finally decided to write this review because I finally tried their food on my last visit. I've always heard they had an excellent burger selection. About the burgers, I'll just say that you must remember it's a bar first, then a music venue, then a burger joint. Any place whose burgers are their third priority isn't particularly high on my list of great burger restaurants. My bacon cheeseburger was just okay, not excellent, but then again, I'd been drinking. It also was the first thing I'd had to eat in around 9 hours. My wife's chili dog was certainly a lesser rendition than I could've done myself, but I didn't expect much, so even that was a pleasant surprise, considering where their chili dog priority potentially lies.
The one real saving grace was the friendly and attentive service at the bar. They were always genuinely sorry about the draft system's malfunctions and never made me wait to order a drink; every time I've been there, no matter the level of business, I always am served in a reasonable amount of time.
In short, I'll never suggest Loser's as a place that I want to go hang out. The malfunctions with the beer system in a place that is supposed to be a BAR are enough to make me skip going. However, this is a very good friend of mine's favorite bar, so I'll likely be back. I wouldn't feel bad suggesting it to someone who is from out of town, staying in Cool Springs, and is looking for a downtown Nashville honky-tonk-esque experience. It certainly beats getting a DD or paying cab fare back and forth from Cool Springs.
As if I didn't know it by looking at the sign, I was cotton-picking aware of the fact this was a country bar when I walked through the door. The country music was loud but diverse and the place was pretty empty but I was there early for a Saturday. I sauntered to the bar to bend an elbow with the people having a good time there. Of course I ordered some chow too.
Being a Texan I've been through the mill of good and bad Mexican food and I will say that they did a bang-up job with the guacamole. It is made from scratch with fresh ingredients and finger-lickin good. Next I had a cheeseburger with some jalepenos. I asked for it medium well and it was cooked perfectly and seasoned well too.
This isn't a place that I would frequent but if someone asked me to or I was going to take someone to a country themed place away from downtown, this is it. It has the stereotypical touristy country feel but a surprisingly good menu with fresh ingredients.
Loser's 2 is what it is.
It's a honkey tonk surrounded by suburbia.
If you aren't into that sort of thing, this is not your spot. However, if you are, it's a taste of downtown in Franklin.
Staff is great. Friendly, sarcastic and quick to refill your beer.
Food is ok. Not great, but perfect if you are having a few adult soda's and need some grub.
Definitely worth checking out!
Button down meets backwater
A hidden honky tonk in the land of dress shirts. Poster of Hank, check. Cold beer, check. Music that bemoans lost love and rural life, check. Yep, we got us a honky tonk.
A full selection of "hooch" and a pretty good assortment of brews will loosen that Windsor knot and ready you to enjoy live music or sports on flat or large projection screens.
The menu is limited to the basics, wings, burgers and a few salads ( ifen youz a little light in yer loafers... Not that there is anything wrong with that) I sampled a burger, it had a nice home cooked taste that goes well with cold beer.
Y'all come
They have very good burgers and grilled chicken. Very new and clean inside as just opened this summer. I took a buddy visiting and he said 3 times it was the best hamburger he has ever had. Â Heard that from others too. Â I've had their grilled chicken cobb salad and grilled chicken sandwich and chicken is very tender and good. Â It make Chick-fil-A taste like cardboard and I'll never go back there after eating the chicken here. Â There is a good size patio on the one side and on nice nights people sit out there too. Â Live music bands on Thurs., Fri., Sat. or singers with guitars on most other nights and usually Karaoke on Sundays currently. Â Bartenders are friendly and nice too. Â Not a big menu as the pictures show but real good on everything I've had.
