Big hit with the guys after golf!
We play once a week after work at Grapevine, and I've been looking for good places to get dinner and beer afterwards.  I found this place and we all LOVED our food.
We all got beers, and although I didn't see cornbread on the menu, I had seen the photos here.  I ordered some for the table.  I said "it's in the shape of texas" and one of my guys said "of course it is..." because Texas is so proud of being Texas - almost TOO much.  Don't know if you'd understand this but we're all from Boston.  There's pride, then there's too much pride which amounts to bragging which equals arrogance which is something New Englanders don't like!
The cornbread wasn't all that great BUT - the rest of the food was!
Well almost.  I had steak and some enchiladas or something.  My steak was pretty fatty and I didn't care for that.  I usually don't order steak unless it's top of the line because I hate that gristle and fat you can't see and have to cut around?  Drives me nuts.  BUT the other guys - one got chicken fried steak which was ENORMOUS and loved it.  The other had their chili and really liked that.  Another had shrimp something - some kind of shrimp cocktail kind of thing and they loved that too.
The menu is arranged according to areas of Texas.  So the Border section is mexican food, the "Great Plains" is their steaks.  Gulf is seafood.  One section has weird stuff like venison and boar!?  Weird.  But very Texas.
We'll probably be back again - it's close to golf and has an interesting menu.

Went to a friends Birthday Party last weekend  had a good time listening to the live Music. Service was the worst...we decide to go inside and get our own drinks and food after waiting for 25 minutes outside for someone to wait on us.  They have a big patio with maybe 25 tables and only two --yes  waitress just 2 (two)  for the whole area...really. They had some guy show up acting like he was a Manager or something, but basically pawned us off on someone else.  For what they charge for dinner, I think we will go some where else next time. Maybe just do here for drinks.
Oh on top of everything else, our friends Paid Cash $$ for their Tab, but some how the waitress forgot and missed that ,  so they  charged their credit card for the tab also. I have never been to a restaurant before that ask for your card before you even order, much less per-authorize/ scan your card just in case you forget to pay.....really ????

At first I avoided this place because it seemed like a tourist trap for unsuspecting snowbirds from the north who come in for Grapevine Mills.  I was pleasantly surprised by the Porterhouse.  My husband and I like to get a big Porterhouse and share it because it is like two steaks in one.  i recognized the seasoning as Montreal.  The beers are gi-normous and if you don't want to sit in the dining room or wait for a table, you can eat in the bar.  They allow smoking at the bar, so steer clear if you don't want to be around it.
