Hmm. Â I've had better, but I end up back here every now and then. Â It's not the best BBQ you'll have, nor is it the worst. Â What's good here? Â The apple butter they serve with the biscuits is enough to give you a food orgasm (forget the biscuit; just spoon it into your mouth or smear it all over your significant other). Â The drinks are generous. Â The BBQ sauteed shrimp... so good (their sauce is ridiculous). Â The gumbo is hit or miss. The roux can be a tad burnt at times, but if it's "on"... it's delish. Â Baby back ribs are decent. Â The tri-tip is tasty. Â The BBQ chicken... mmm (best thing on the menu).
I think these places are all the same. Â Is the food good? Â Yeah... pretty much.
Keep in mind this is a review of their online order/carryout not in dining. Whenever I dine inside it is really good and I would give 5 stars.
Well upon arrival at the carryout station there was a woman in front of me arguing with the worker about how they got her order wrong. The first thought in my mind was what a "bitch" they lady was. Well turned out that lady was completely sane. When I came home with my carryout order my chicken and burger was completely undercooked. To put it frankly it was disgusting.
This place has good food when dining in, if you ever order online for carryout, please check your food before leaving.
I'm from the Bay Area and I come down to Socal once in a while because my brother lives down there... And for some reason he took me to dinner here -___-
It was pretty packed since it was a Saturday. The wait wasn't that bad at all.. We waited about 20 mins for a party of 8.
The only think I enjoyed about the meal were the biscuits! They were soo good i cant describe it. I also had a strawberry lemonade which was freakin $5. It was too sweet for me. I took my brothers water and watered it down. But I did come in a cool jar glass which I wanted to take but my brother said that's "ghetto" HAHAHHA! but jeeeeez for that price they want you to take the jar. Anyways, Â for my entree I got the bbq chicken w/ mac&cheese and mashed potatoes for my sides. OMG! for $20 it was not worth it! Everything was soooo bland. I didn't even eat half of it.
This place isn't worth it. Everyone on our table didn't even finish their food. Plus I think we got charged for having an big party... Excuse you! Why do I have to give you a tip if you didn't even serve me?! You took my order, brought you my food and then the bill. I did not see our waiter other than that! No water refills, didn't ask if everything was okay or if we needed anything.
Came for 4th of July 'cause we were craving ribs. Luckily we were able to call in to put our name down for a table so there was no wait when we arrived. Location of it is easy to find inside the District across from Whole Foods, you can't miss it. The interior is a nicely decorated western/old school theme, kinda reminded me of knott's. Our service that night was prompt in the beginning, but after our orders were taken, it took FOREVER to get our food which pissed us off 'cause we missed the Fireworks. We got there around 6:30, waited for another friend to arrive, ordered at 7, food didn't get to us til like 9. It wasn't even that packed that night.
Apple Butter & Biscuits - I swear since the food took forever, we went through 2 baskets of the biscuits. I love the apple butter to spread on the warm biscuits here. Biscuits were nice fresh and fluffy and not crumbly. This stuff is addicting to eat
BBQ 2 meat combo platter - I got St. Louis Ribs & Chicken Breast instead of half a chicken (glad they allowed this substitution). I liked that they gave me 2 breasts instead of 1 like most places would. The St. Louis ribs however, were poorly executed. I got them dry rubbed, but the ribs were horrible that night compared to my other visits. It was not fall off the bone tender meat, just a bunch of skin/fat. Was highly disappointed 'cause I was craving ribs bad. Sadly even the chicken breast tasted better. Surprisingly the breasts were big & moist. For sides I got the cornbread & steamed veggies. Cornbread was NOT good at all. Even souplantation or boston market's cornbread was better. It came out cold, the butter was not even melting on it. Had no flavor at all til I asked for honey to put on the cornbread.
Half BBQ Chicken & Pulled Pork Combo - My friend ordered this, his half chicken was like drenched in bbq sauce, didn't look appetizing & I'm glad I got the chicken breasts instead 'cause it looked like there wasn't much meat on his half chicken. The pulled pork was not good either. I tried a couple scoops, it was cold and not the tender pulled pork I'm used to eating. Even the sauce on it couldn't save it. The side dishes he got were garlic mashed potatoes and cole slaw. The coleslaw was awesome! not too drenched in mayo
Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ Burger - Ordered it medium rare, it came out well done -__- The "melted" cheese was solid when it came out. Looked like it had been sitting out for a while. The burger wasn't that great it was pretty dry, my bf didn't even finish it 'cause it was so bad. Have had better at Cheesecake Factory. He got sweet potato fries as a side and the fries were soggy.
I guess it's a hit or miss here. Would not recommend coming here during holidays since the food and service are a lot worse than on regular days. BTW on your way out don't forget your free tootsie pops!
We've been here twice, both times the service wasn't there at all.... It kinda pissed me off after a while. Â Thank god we weren't in a rush going somewhere afterwards the second time. Â Must I say it again, I hate hunting down our server and it wasn't even busy both times we went. Â Bad service...make the food taste bad too... Â It was super hot inside the place and we literally left there smelling like BBQ. Â We haven't been back here in a while... Not looking forward to anytime soon or ever again. I'm happy that Famous Daves BBQ opened up by South Coast. Â I remembered them being so good in Las Vegas. Â Just hoping the service is better than this place.
Review Source:J.J. was our server. Â He was really helpful and tried his best to accommodate. Â I really like it when servers are easy going and helpful and prompt. Â It makes the whole restaurant experience a plus plus! Â And he went out of his way to get us some apple butter to go because we had biscuits leftover! Â We had already left the building and proceeded to get into our cars when J.J. started to run out looking for us with those apple butter containers! Â Talk about an awesome server.
I tried the tri-tip sandwhich with the baked beans. Â Yuuuuuummmmmmyyyyyy. Â Let me repeat that. Â Yuuuuummmmmy. Â Ok, get the picture?
I wish I got the baby back ribs but I was just too full to try it, but the sandwich was pretty satisfying.
Now, it's not 5 stars only because I only tried 1 dish....but so far, it's looking pretty good. Â And if their service stays the same, then, well....5 stars is well deserved.
This was a plus plus experience and I'm glad I came here for din din on 4th of July.
I came here last night with a party of 10 for a birthday dinner.
We had a reservation at 7:30 and were seated right away even though there were only 4 of us there at the time.
Our waitress took our drink orders and brought us out biscuits and apple butter.
The apple butter = HEAVEN.
I tried not to stuff myself from bread but omgerd.. apple butter is SO DAMN GOOD.
The rest of our party didn't get there until 8PM but our waitress didn't give us too much trouble for it.
We ended up ordering the party platter appetizer, which came with different things like fried pickles, sweet potato fries, fried green tomatoes, fried okra, and spicy hot links.
This kept our stomachs happy for a bit while we waited for the rest of our party.
Once everyone was there, I ordered the full rack of baby back ribs.
The price difference between a half rack and a full is only $3 so might as well get the full and have the leftovers for lunch or dinner the next day!
It comes with 2 sides and I chose the garlic mashed potatoes and coleslaw.
Oh, can't forget to get the strawberry lemonade! It's super sweet but I love it!
Overall, it was great food and a good experience.
Our waitress was extremely attentive and made sure we always had everything we needed. She even brought out a small ice cream sundae for the birthday boy!
Great restaurant for large parties, just make sure to make a reservation, I'm sure the wait can get nasty!
2 stars for service. My friend and I went for dinner during happy hour. Â We knew it was open seating in the bar area, but we wanted a specific table. Â The current customers eating were just about to leave. So we asked our waitress (blondie with bright red lipstick) if we can have that table when they're done. Â She said yes, and we waited at a different table for it to be cleaned. Â A couple codtomers start walking in and sat down at the table we requested. Â And instead of our waitress telling them it is reserved for us, she sat them and gave them menus. Seriously? It was my first time at Lucille's and my last. Food was nice at least, but not enough to redeem them from horrible service.
Review Source:Seriously, f**k this place.
Came here to celebrate my friend's graduation with her family. We had a reservation at 12:30... Not only they weren't ready when we came in, they gave us a freaking buzzer! The hostess said that the table will be ready in a few minutes. Well, she freaking lied to our faces, because at 12:55 everyone was still waiting to be seated, including my friend's 95 year old grandma. So I went inside to ask what happened, and turns out they forgot about us and said that they'd seat us outside. The hostess made a f***ing face at me. She called the manager, who acted like a total as*. Seeing how he didn't even apologize for totally forgetting about us (how can you forget about 8 people crowding your lobby?!), I told him that it would be a good idea to at LEAST apologize to my friends and her parents for making them wait... He didn't even say "I'm sorry"...
Best part? As soon as I started raising my voice, they gave us a table within 10 minutes. Inside. Now, was that SO f***ing hard to do the first time?
Then the waitress messed up our orders, we got the dishes that other people ordered. TWICE. Didn't get any biscuits and butter until we asked. She was just rude in general and didn't stop to see if we needed anything or if everything was ok. She didn't let me make a substitution on my salad either.
Oh, the food was disgusting, by the way. I picked all the chicken off my salad and pretty much ate just the plain salad leaves, leaving the dressing untouched... How do you manage to mess up balsamic vinaigrette? French fries were cold and soggy, tri tip and the brisket were unsalted and over cooked and also on the cold side. Artichoke was drenched in oil. Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, and ew.
The waitress also couldn't open the champagne bottle that we had... Seeing how she placed it on the side of the table, I took off the foil part myself. She then proceeded to pretty much take it out of my hands, saying something like "It's because you have nails..." instead of thank you. As she was taking the bottle away from me, I already had a bad feeling about this, so I asked if I can just open it myself. She wouldn't let me do it, instead, she proceeded rocket-launching the cork onto the CEILING FAN! Thank God, no one got hurt... She didn't refill the glasses either.
The whole experience is just a general "WTF". Please, don't come here, this place blows, I hope it goes out of business due to their horrible service and some other NICE place that actually cares about training their staff opens there instead.
I wish I could go back in time and tell my friend not to go there. LITERALLY go elsewhere, go to Red Robin, s**t, go to McDonald's if you have to. Make noodles in a plastic cup, all those options are better than Lucille's
I used to love coming here for the biscuits! Â But they changed the recipe for some reason. Â it's not as flaky as it used to be and they coat the top with a ton of sugar now. Â Ick. Â Carl's Jr has way better biscuits now in my opinion. Â And as for BBQ I like Famous Dave's better now. Â I only come here for happy hour sometimes and that's about it.
Review Source:I'm a fan of southern style sweet tea and this place probably has the best sweet tea in Orange County. Â Besides their sweet tea, all their BBQ is delicious and the biscuits alone, makes it worth a visit! Â If you haven't eaten true southern BBQ and wanted an authentic taste then Lucille's is where it's at. Â Having lived in the South for a few years, whenever I need my fix on southern food this is the place.
Review Source:Mmmmm..... so yummy and can I say happy hour... AWESOME...
The main food dishes are pretty good... I tend to get my Beef Ribs dry since I'm not a major lover of bbq ... and the plates themselves have so much food. It's definitely easy to share.
Now on to happy hour is the best!!
You get to choose from a list of preselected appetizers which for me would be the beef tips, bbq sliders, onion straw, spinach cheese dip, gumbo and more others.  The best thing of this place is the basket of  free, fresh  & soft  biscuits with apple butter!! oh man with just 2 of those biscuits your full or half way full. They also have great prices on drinks for a good portion! Good place to go and catch up with a friend or go and just chill. The place is very warm and friendly astrosphere!
I've been to Luciille's twice and both times it was just alright to me.  I don't feel it's worth  bragging about. The second time was definitely better then the first but I think it just had to do with the location. If you're in the Anaheim area, go to the one in Tustin which is like 15 mins south of Anaheim. I just felt this one was better then the other location off of Chapman. It's a bbq chain restaurant not like a mom and pop style which is where the best bbq comes from. It's a little pricey too in my opinion but they do give a good amount. On a positive note, the rolls and strawberry lemonade are the absolute best. The service both times at both locations was also very good. No complaints there. Although I think the bbq is just okay, the rolls, strawberry lemonade, and the service is def worth coming back for.
Review Source:Orange County may be a powerhouse when it comes to happy hour as a result of all the surrounding workaholics abound that flock to the bars come 5 o'clock, but throw in the word "reverse" and all of a sudden everyone's as clueless as Lindsay Lohan in a courtroom.
Thankfully Lucille's steps up to the plate at 9p EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT for reverse happy hour (during the day it's 3p-7p Monday-Friday). They have smaller portions of their appetizers that range from $3-$7 and a slew of cocktails under $7 and wells for $3.50. I was only in the bar during this time, so this review is not for traditional service in the main dining room.
I'll admit our server was not very "there" - she didn't know one drink could be tweaked into a Moscow Mule by substituting vodka for rum when that's how it was listed on the menu, and she never came back with an answer after telling us she'd double check on more biscuits for us, but the pricing left me happy in that hour so as far as I'm concerned, we can let slide this one hiccup in service. Hey, could've been her off day - Lord knows that's why I had to grab a cocktail that night!
The ONE thing you need (yes, NEED) to come to Lucille's for: Biscuits with apple butter. This apple butter is legit, not the overly sugary syrup like version at Trader Joe's (which is pretty much the only one I have been able to find anywhere since tasting my great-grandmother's homemade apple butter oh so many moons ago in my childhood). Slightly sugar crusted, fluffy on the inside biscuits.
To me, everything else on the menu is an afterthought.
Well, except for maybe the following two things:
1. Fried Green Tomatoes
2. Big Chocolate Cake
The fried green tomatoes were an unexpected treat discovered on the appetizer sampler platters brought to the table. I had no idea what it was until I cut into it and was elated with what I tasted. Fed a bite to mister man to try (his first fried green tomato experience) and his taste buds were similarly pleased. The Big Chocolate Cake was dubbed "the best" chocolate cake by our waiter so we had to check this one out. It was giant sized, possibly pre-frozen, but oh so rich and chocolatey. Shared with my love and paired with a hot cupa joe, it was the perfect end to our gluttonous feast.
BBQ meat-wise I tried the chicken, tri tip and sausage. Tri tip was the winner by a landslide! So flavorful with or without the various delectable tableside BBQ sauce options (my fave being the Memphis).
Huge portions, great food, good service and prices are about what I would expect for huge portions of BBQ. This place is always crowded! There are certain times that I will avoid, avoid the lunch rush (11:30-1p.m.) and dinner rush (5-6:30p.m.) any time before or after this shouldn't be too bad.
I've had the Mardi Gras Chicken, Fried Chicken Sandwich, Fried Chicken dinner, Gumbo and Tri-tip. All are very good but I have a few hits and misses with the Gumbo. The first time I had the Gumbo it was great! Very tasty and on occasion I would crave it. The next 2 times that I had the Gumbo the roux was obviously burnt making the whole dish taste burnt. Both times they replaced the Gumbo and apologized for the funky tasting dish.
Our family of 3 spent about $65 after tip. When I've had family come from out of town and I bring them here I make it a point to go to Costco and buy a pack of two $50 gift cards for $80... just a little tip to save a little money.
I'm really unhappy with this location but even though I like the food (esp the st louis ribs), the service was not so pleasant. Why?
1. Kept having to ask for biscuits while other tables got theirs within minutes.
2. The napkin smelled bad before it was even used.
3. We were celebrating 2 birthdays so I ordered a slice of snickers pie from our waitress and asked her to put a candle on it. She acknowledged. Minutes later, some guy brought out the pie, set it on the table with some forks, NO CANDLES, and walked away. Rude!! Where my candles at! And no song? Our waitress came by after my friends started digging into the dessert and was like oh sorry you guys but it was a really insincere apology. Also, I'm pretty sure Lucilles gives you some birthday dessert too but we didn't get that either. While I don't mind paying for the pie, at least present it correctly. Very disappointed.
Thanks for making the birthday celebration memorable.
"Really, did nothing cancel?"
"A coodle doodle do! A coodle doodle do!"
"I love all my children equally. Except for Gob."
"We're having Lindsay Chops for dinner."
"Lupe!"
Loose Seal's Smokehouse BBQ is one of the more dramatic theme restaurants I've been to. I mean, you practically get slapped in the face by Dixieland Americana when walking through the door. That's not a bad thing, though! It actually looks pretty cool inside. (In fact, kind of reminds me of Fat Ammy's.)
I ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy and the shrimp themselves were cooked very nicely, but the execution of the sandwich was lacking. Was the bread really freshly baked like the menu claims? I'm dubious. But, the mac and cheese on the side was pretty delicious!
Don't order the Skip's Scramble.
The memphis BBQ sauce was pleasantly tangy and flavorful, though I think I would've liked a spicy club sauce better.
Ordered the ribs & chicken lunch combo ($13.99 / 11am-4pm) and it didn't disappoint! The meat on the baby back ribs were cooked well enough that they could fall off the bones cleanly. Surprisingly though, what I was most impressed with was their chicken. I can say that this was the best chicken I've had in my life so far! Unbelievably tender and moist. Complimentary biscuits are also delicious with the cinnamon butter they give you.
In general, portions are very big. My tummy is satisfied :)
They really need to open a location in the Bay Area...
We came as a large party celebrating my friend's birthday. Â She and I love BBQ so this was a real treat for us. The food was excellent, but the service (even for a large party) was extremely poor. They were kind enough to separate out checks, but as you can imagine it was a real ordeal. Â It took forever and wasn't correct.
Morale of the story: go for great BBQ, but keep your party to 4 or less.
My boyfriend and I went in for a really late dinner on Friday night. It was my first time and I must say that I live the atmosphere. We went to the bar because a live blues band was playing, and I resist a good blues band. There was only one table available but it was dirty. The bus boy had it cleaned within minutes and we were greeted promptly. We only ordered the Happy Hour appetizers and some infused iced tea. I don't even like iced tea but I gulped down my watermelon iced tea and ate the watermelon on the side of my glass. So yummy! Our server was so pleasant and kept the refills coming. She even gave us biscuits with apple butter and I could have made a meal from those alone.
I enjoyed the live music and found myself having a great little date that was completely on a whim. Great service, great good, great time.
I'll be back!
Sex on a plate!!
Want to know why? Read on and get hungry!!!
You know that feeling you get when you simply look at you food after its presented  and you can just tell this is going to be an epic meal? The feeling you get after finally taking that gargantuan first bite into a monstrous, well presented burger? That feeling of warmth and comfort like your mother just appeared and wrapped a toasty blanked around you!? Well I got all that "and some" when I took my first bite of the smokehouse BBQ burger from Lucille's. That burger was so perfectly cooked, garnished, sauced and loaded with onion strings I could not have asked for anything more, literally as my mouth continuously had burger and fries stuffed in it. My bun never fell apart yet was soft and warm throughout. Beer was ice cold, and a perfect compliment to this circular, beefy, pleasure.
My compliments to the chef on that night (o4-05-13) as on top of a great burger I got a great basket of Lucille's thin cut fries which weren't so overcooked that you're left feeling like you are chewing on chopsticks. Great crispy shell on the outside with a warm puffy center, now that's a good thin cut fry. I sat there having "when Harry met Sally moments" after each bite of my burger and even though I was stuffed half way trough, I could not help forcing everything down as meals like this come few and far apart these days for me.
Thank you and your team and our server for making our night, you guys really rocked!
BISCUITS WITH APPLE CINNAMON BUTTER! (Its free!! And you can ask for more!!) Love love love. I can happily live off their soft toasty biscuits and sweet creamy apple cinnamon butter for the rest of my life.
I'm pretty sure all their entree portions (and prices) were made for sharing (at least for girls hehe). We ordered baby back ribs for two to share and it was definitely enough. So tender and delicious! The edges were a little overcooked but the majority of the rack was absolutely perfect. The meat fell right off the bones! Pretty much all their meat entrees come with two sides, and we got the sweet potato fries and corn on the cob. Sweet potato fries were meh; I wouldn't get them again/recommend them, but the corn on the cob was awesome! (Only comes with one corn though so if you want to share you can break it in half.) We also got their fried onion strips as an appetizer - crispy and flavorful with the best dipping sauce ever. Yum~
Service is A+. Our waiter was so nice and was always asking us if there was anything else we needed and brought us second baskets of their amazing bread without us even asking! :')
He said: Biscuits and butter excellent. Beef tips good smoke and tasty. Cheese grits and peanut slaw unexpected but tasty. Cheese grits light and fluffy but with peppers. Fried okra yum. Sweet potato fries good. Pork rib tips tasty, but cartilage. Hot links HOT. Fried green tomato tasted under seasoned while still being spicy. I thought Dixie egg roll had too much going on inside and I really didn't get it.
The St. Louis ribs were excellent. Flavorful, good smoke. Not dry. Trimmed properly. The half chicken was equally delicious - smoky and juicy. Â I had this chicken two days later out of the hotel room fridge and it was still delicious.
There was supposedly "team service" which I sometimes think just means that nobody is really responsible for me, but everybody from the guy who seated us to the 2 wait-staff we talked to seemed to care. The hostess wasn't quite as personable, but was ok. Wait for table and food were both acceptable. I like the big mason jars for the fountain drinks but, alas, no Coke Zero. Wrapping up with a warm moist REAL towel was nice. (On the way out, the hostess gave us a fairly sincere "good night" so maybe she was just a bit off when we got there).
She said: Oddly enough, I've never been a big fan of ribs...until tonight. Â The St. Louis ribs here have made me a believer! They were absolutely yummy! We ordered an appetizer sampler and there was a spicy sausage on it that was really, really good..and yes, spicy. Â The biscuits were good. Â The sweet potato fries were good. Â The cheesy grits were good, too (be prepared, though...there are red bell peppers in it...threw me for a loop).
I COME HERE FOR THE BISCUITS AND APPLE BUTTER... jk... kind of. I'm not kidding, the apple butter is delicious. I probably put on more than I should. And its all complimentary w/ refills.
I really enjoy the baby back ribs here. It's tender and juicy. The marinade that it already has is just right and not too overpowering. What I like about Lucille's is that every table has 3 bottles of sauces to go along with your meat. Take your pick. I promise you will find one you like.
Believe it or not, they have HAPPY HOUR here too! From 3-7pm M-F and 9 to closing EVERYDAY.
-Spinach and Cheese Dip... delicious. The tortilla chips are tasty and not too salty. You can tell they don't use just any regular bag of tortilla chips. And the dip is yummy! At first I was a little turned off by the grated cheese on top, but then we started to mix it in and it was good. You can get this for less than $5 too!
-Fried Pickles... after watching reruns of Jersey Shore, I was excited to see this on the menu. Fried pickles?! never had one. I guess it's time to try. Surprisingly really good! It was lightly breaded and you get a big slice of a pickle. It comes with 2 sauces, but I suggest just dipping it in the ranch. The other one has a funky after taste. HH serves this for about $3.
Now that I know Lucille's has happy hour, I will probably be more inclined to come here. Appetizers are super cheap, no more than $5 or $7. *Available at BAR ONLY though.
I've been to Lucille's at this location several times and I keep coming back when I crave biscuits. I haven't had authentic Southern food from the South, but I'm guessing these biscuits come pretty close.
Warm, fluffy, soft, golden biscuits that they sprinkle sugar on top of. Goes really well with their apple cinnamon butter. And the best part is that they're complimentary. So my favorite food at this place is free.
Their baby back ribs are also really good. They have full and half. We shared two full between 7 people.
Comes with sides: their mashed potatoes are awesome. Corn bread was all right.
First time having corn chowder. It was sweet. Not sure what it's supposed to taste like.. tastes like corn and chowder.. so must be right.
The tortilla chips with spinach/cheese dip was GOOD. Devoured that quickly. The dip was tasty.
SWEET POTATO FRIES. That was wonderful. Especially with the dip they served it with that tasted like butter/ranch. Must order. Probably the best sweet potato fries I've had at any place so far.
I really like the restaurant cultural feel. It's very warm, welcoming, and homey with good music, food, decor. Great for big family dinners. There's a bar area where they had a band playing Saturday night. Kids were dancing around. It was adorable.
Dinner time is usually crowded. 45 minute waits. Casual dress. There are free lollipops when you leave. Food comes out pretty quickly.
Great place to eat when you're craving Southern Barbeque food, biscuits, and mashed potatoes.
REVIEW FOR Happy Hour ONLY!!!
Happy hour is ONLY in the bar area. Self seating. Service was decent, it was still really busy around 9!
Prices are pretty decent, but food isn't that great. my friend and I got the hot links ($1.99), irish nachos ($1.99), blackened chicken quesadilla (3.99) & BBQ rib tips (6.99).
Hot link (yes only 1 link cut into 4 pieces, comes with side of cole slaw) and quesadilla were quite spicy. But both were enjoyable. My friend did not enjoy the irish nachos but luckily they came on a small plate (small portion). The BBQ rib tips were the thing that I looked forward to the most and it also wasn't that great. My portion was dry and lacked flavor, not worth the $6.99.
The best thing about Lucille's is their biscuits & butter!!!!
I've only been to Lucille's a few times because I wasn't too impressed the first time I dined here. Â I remember ordering the baby back ribs and they weren't spectacular-- not very meaty and a bit overpriced.
I Â have been told that Lucille's has a pretty awesome HAPPY HOUR and I'm glad I finally tried it! Â
Happy hour is from 3-7pm Monday - Friday and 9pm to close (10pm) everyday!! One of the few places that have happy hour later than 7pm :D. Â
The happy hour menu has appetizers from $1.99 - $6.99, and all other 22oz Draft beers are $1 off. (They also have a hh menu for well drinks, wines, and cocktails). Â
+ Lucille's Hefeweizen:  Yummm, I'm a big fan of Hef so I always order it when it's available on the menu-- crisp, light (but not too light), and refreshing!  ($4.50)  (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lucilles-smokehouse-bar-b-que-tustin?select=BM3JQ-aYGpHz2rQyJ0rPPw#R79w1LHKCVvr_BcuVGlWBg">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>)
+ Irish Nachos:  The description for these nachos sounded way better on the menu than it actually was.  I was expecting piping hot fries with nacho toppings... this was not the case.  We pretty much got a cold pile of fries, topped with dried/cold cheese, with a small scoop of sour cream on top-- it's $1.99 for a reason i guess, haha.  (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lucilles-smokehouse-bar-b-que-tustin?select=BM3JQ-aYGpHz2rQyJ0rPPw#8vUt4J9ofAdkVRscbfBMAw">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>)
+ Fried Green Tomatoes: Â 2 slices of cornmeal battered green tomatoes, served with roasted red pepper cream. Â The cornmeal batter gave the tomatoes a nice crunch, and they didn't taste too oiily. Â The cream sauce added just enough spice and tang and wasn't too overpowering. Â ($2.99)
+ Southern Fried Dill Pickles: Â Yumm, sliced dill pickles (yes, the spears!) that are fried in a spicy breading, served with creole mustard and ranch dressing. Â If you love pickles, you will love these. Â Most restaurants I've been to that serve fried pickles usually serve the sliced pickles, so it was nice to see these pickle spears on the menu. Â I would recommend eating these first or else they tend to get soggy and the breading falls off the pickle. ($2.99)

+ BBQ Sliders:  You could choose 2 from 4 different slider meats (pulled pork, smoked beef brisket or pulled chicken).  I chose the pulled pork and the smoked beef brisket.  This was probably my favorite items we ordered, and a great deal for $3.99!  The meat was flavorful, good portion, and I loved the burnt end/charred pieces in the meat. + Orleans Gumbo: Â Made with a dark savory broth, shrimp, smoked chicken, and andouille sausage. Â This gumbo was a bit salty for my liking, but it wasn't too bad. Â Â Served with shrimp and a scoop of steamed white rice. Â ($4.99)
+ Carolina Potato Skins: This is my second favorite item from the appetizers we ordered.  I lovee how these skins were topped with bbq pulled pork along with the melted cheese.  Highly recommend this!  (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lucilles-smokehouse-bar-b-que-tustin?select=BM3JQ-aYGpHz2rQyJ0rPPw#HNt42C_vBwkqFnCQDQ4Kmg">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) ($4.99)
Awesome place to grab drinks and appetizers later at night!
5 STARS ALL THE WAY! Â
The future-in-laws brought Le Fiancé and I here for dinner last night and my jaw is still on the floor...
As a born and raised southern gal from the Appalachia's in Virginia, I feel qualified to express a legit opinion when it comes to southern cooking. I've yet to be impressed with restaurants in SoCal claiming to be southern style *Ahem, Baby Blues*. I was feeling a little judgmental and expecting the same here.
I WAS WRONG.
I know this place is a chain but hot dang is the food here good. So good it made me miss home... The sweet tea is perfection with an added fancy schmancy mint leaf. The biscuits are delicious and taste like a genuine southern biscuit, not some Grand crescent roll wannabe. The fried pickles I HIGHLY recommend, and the steak on my salad was cooked a perfect medium. (I see you eye-rolling at my "I came to a southern restaurant and ordered a salad" but my bride diet is in full effect - cut the wedding dress some slack.) Â
Great atmosphere, awesome service, delicious food, and a guaranteed full belly. :)
Came here on a Friday night with 41 people for a birthday dinner.
They were super accommodating throughout the whole process!
They don't have a private/party room (at least for a group that size) though.
I made a reservation a week an advance, called again to make sure we could sit inside(I hate sitting outside), and then updated the reservation from 35 people to 40 people 2 days before.
Basically I was a little bit diva about the whole thing. They were polite and super nice the whole time!
There was a bit of a mix up with the number of people because apparently they didn't update the number of people, but they added it gladly and apologized for making us wait a little longer.
I had the Memphis pulled pork: pulled pork + coleslaw and their Memphis sauce. Yummy! My sister had the Jambalaya which was good too, had a big kick.
Sides: Mac and Cheese and the Garlic Mashed Potatoes are my favorites.
The sweet biscuits with the apple butter are amazing too! Make sure you take that stuff home.
I would say 4 stars for food(it's not as if it's the most amazing BBQ I've had) but 5 stars for great service and for putting up with the annoying birthday girl(me) :)
This is our go-to place in Orange County when we feel like getting down and dirty and having some ribs and tri tips. I think the meats here are better than Stonefire Grill and seriously, you can say no to those absolutely unhealthy onion straws?
We came here after a failed attempt to go to Islands on Valentine's Day. We shared a trip tip and rib platter that also came with bbq chicken and it was mm  mm good! Never really had a problem with the service here-  servers were always kind and attentive and I've been here about 5-6 times. Wait average is about 20-30 minutes during dinner and lunch but if you come on a few off hours you can probably get seated more quickly.
Some of the drinks here are stronger than others- but portions are huge and all their items are pretty good to me.
Don't come here if you're in a healthy mood, but if you ever feel like truly pigging out and getting down with that food- this is one of your top go-to spots.
So this is a tale of two sides of the same rib shack.
Ok lets get the nuts and bolts out of the way.
Quality: If you are looking for great sweet meaty hunking ribs you have found the place. Other reviewers have made comments about 'burnt' ribs but they dont know what they are talking about. This chain of restaurants have a great selection of appetizers and their drink specials are pretty damn good if I don't say so myself.
Service: this is a tricky one yes it is good, as long as you sit INSIDE. I can not understand why the patio service is so horrible. I love Lucille's BBQ joint, however i have been to three different lucille's both inside and outside and I have had consistently slow/bad service in the patio. The worst was at the Irvine location, which now has a black mark in my book for theri terrible service and the manager who refused to acknowledge the fact that we waited over 45 mins for drinks and another 35 mins to get food.
I should note that the service inside and by the bar is AWESOME. I mean they are on top of it when we are at the bar and they have live music on friday's and they have great cool servers in the bar.
So what ever you do DO NOT SIT IN THE PATIO. refuse to sit in tha patio, if you do, expect long waits.
Hooooooooooooooooooooly CINNAMON BUTTER Batman!
Before you do anything - - - ANYTHING at Lucille's be sure to ask for the complementary bread rolls with extra butter spread! I came here twice last week on work outings with coworkers and both times they were giggling at me for finishing off every last mili-ounce of the butter. It tastes like you're eating cake batter! So amazing!
Lucille's is a mixture of "hip" (with flying pigs dressed like aviators), fun music culture art work, and the kind of straw smiling scarecrow "welcome" signs I would see at my boyfriends aunts house (they're so cute though!). The happy hour here seems awesome; but it's not exactly something you can try when you're representing your company (boo! lol JK!). Some of the drinks sound uber delicious though - and I think I've found where I am going to take my boyfriend for his birthday!
The first time I came I had the Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich. The lunch portion is $10 and is a plenty! The difference between the lunch and dinner portion is a few extra dollars, an extra chicken breast, and an extra side. As I said though the lunch portion is massive! I barely finished it. It is super yummy and it is highly recommended. My stomach was in no way expecting all that food!
The second time I tried the smoked tri tip quesidilla (in the appetizer section). A whole is $10 and a half is $5. The half is more than enough! It's a good 2 inch thick quesidilla filled with smoked tri tip beef (or chicken), peppers, and caramelized onions. The half alone (and several of the bread rolls soaked in that amazing butter) had me stuffed!
Also, I love the strawberry lemonade. For $2.50 it will rot your teeth out with sugar, and it
is served in a mason jar which cracks me up!
