Came here with my wife about a year ago and the beer list was good but the food was so-so and the service was horrible. The waitress we had seemed like she didn't want to be there waiting on us at all, but that was a year ago so hopefully things have changed for the better.

Met some friends for dinner here on Thursday evening.   I have never seen such lousy service in a place. The bartender was good but the waitress needs to find another job, we were ignored and even had to go to the bar to get a drink.   I normally over tip. I have never been in a position before where I didn't want to tip anything at all, until Thursday night at the Lucky Dog.

I've been here a number of times. the food is good, the help is good, and the place is clean. Its good for a date-night or a quick meal. Its got a pub feel because of the bar, but the food is the main attraction.

I don't think there is a bad thing on the menu, The customer always gets a solid meal. So why only three stars? Well......its way to expensive! i paid $15.00 for a chicken wrap and fries! 15 dollars. With tip -came out to $17.00. I think the actual price of the wrap was $14.16, but customers have to spend at least $15.00 when using a card. I'm not a complainer, so i Just paid it.

The important thing is that the place is clean, good service, and good food.

However, the price may be a problem for some. A salad runs about $11.00, with $4.00 extras, meaning... chicken, cheese, any of the "basic" stuff that should be included with a salad, will be extra sir! Crazy!  Lafayette hill isnt that "affluent". Heck....its cheaper to have lunch in Chestnut hill.

Was pleasantly surprised by The Lucky Dog. I was expecting typical bar food but was very impressed by the menu. I had the salmon which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Wasabi mashed potatoes are a must. Appetizers were very good as well.

    Good beer selection.

A little bit more expensive for what we were expecting but for the quality of the food I couldn't complain.

Took my wife out for dinner. They should change the name to the Yucky dog. I will save you the time to read the rest of the reviews- if you are going to have a few drinks- yes. For food- NO.

I visited the Lucky Dog on a rainy Sunday evening, while visiting a friend who lives nearby. She had been trying to think of a fun place for us to go for dinner, and since she hadn't been here in a while we decided to check it out. I wanted to go to this place (vs some of her other suggestions) just because of the name.

Cute place, lots of fun stuff on the walls and around the bar to look at, and a nice atmosphere with lots of character. There was a drink menu with specialty cocktails (on the pricy side, be warned) and it was Mojito night, so there was a separate menu for the various Mojitos being offered. I passed on the mojito and instead had a caramel apple martini, which was... well, it was a caramel apple martini. :-)

The food menu was diverse, and making a choice wasn't easy. The prices are fairly high, which was somewhat surprising. I ordered a burger, which you can customize with a variety of cheeses and toppings. I got the provolone on a burger cooked to medium perfection. It was the second best burger I have ever had. (the first place still goes to Remedy in Pittsburgh. No contest.) The fries were amazing. Light and crispy with a delicious seasoning. For dessert we had the apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream. I should have chosen something different, so we could share and try a couple different things, but that cobbler sounded SO good. Truthfully, I thought it was just ok. My friend *loved* it, and it wasn't bad, but she also got a to-go order of the chocolate cake with melty-gooey stuff on it to take home to her husband, and it looked pretty decadent; I found myself wishing I had chosen that instead. Still, a very good meal in a nice, warm, cozy place.

The minor things I didn't love so much: tiny, one-person restroom (surprising in a busy place this size). Not a huge big deal but... eh. Surprising. And the one nagging little annoying bit- they refused to charge us separately for our meals. They would split the check on two cards, but refused to split it accurately. I found this very annoying, and said so to the server. (who replied that it wasn't her policy- she said they don't do "separate checks" and was just following directions. Fair enough.) Still, you will either take split payments or not... what difference does it make if you charge both cards equally or split it 60/40, or whatever? I thought it was just laziness; they didn't want to have to bother figuring out how much to charge each card. We would happily have figured it out for them but we were told they wouldn't do it. An annoying end to an otherwise pleasant experience. (and thus the 3 stars instead of 4 or 5.)

Small, crowded, and expensive are three pretty good adjectives. The food is hit or miss, but portions are usually generous and try hard to appear gourmet.  The beer selection is solid, but not enough of a draw to deal with the tight quarters. All in all, not a bad spot if you like a full, noisy restaurant experience with TVs at every possible viewing angle.

SLIDER SAMPLER. Get it. You mix n match different sliders from an assortment of various sandwiches.

Service was VERY friendly.. Impressive Beer list, love the craft beer selection.  This place is perfect for a Happy Hour.. or to watch a Phils, Flyers, Eagles game. Go here, eat. It's no dive... but welcoming, and a place you can bring your S.O. without fear.

I used to think this place was better. But, nope- just sub par. The higher prices do not reflect the mediocre quality. Just think they could do better, and should try a little harder. That said, I think it is a good place to hang at the bar and drink beer.

this place is terrible for groups.   Had 5 couples, and the venue wouldn't split the check.   Fine, but then they will only take 2 credit cards per bill.  Whatever,  3 couples will just hit the ATM.  Oh wait, they don't have one!   Way to inconvenience your customers.   Won't be going back.

Some of my friends took me to one of their local bars in walking distance from their house. First off parking for this place is horrible. This place is in the suburbs and not the city and I still had to drive around looking for a spot. Navigating around the small bar requires saying "excuse me" multiple times with chairs getting moved out of the way. Once I made it to my friends, I notified this place was a cool local bar. TVs had baseball, soccer, and tennis playing so everyone was happy not watching the same thing. Previous bar taps were decorated above the bar along with a very cool 1980s Spuds MacKenzie light up dog. Young people and older people were here on dates, there were the old guys with gray hair section, and even the solo loner drinker section. Large groups were here as well.

The beer selection was good. There was a blackboard above the kitchen (that was almost impossible to see from the bar) with the draft list. The food menu was even worse. I don't want to sound cheap, but I was shocked with the prices. I wasn't in Center City and most of the prices were very high. I was at a local neighborhood place and not a fine dining establishment in the city with over 100 Yelp reviews! I got the sliders (too many to choose from). The burgers had a good charbroiled taste to them.

What was not cool was my glass. After drinking out of my pint glass, I noticed a giant crack in the glass. After getting the bartenders attention, the situation was fixed. Then to get another drink my friend had to literally wave her hands in the air to get the bartenders attention. Also the bathroom is a one at a time affair. So if anyone goes numero dos, be prepared to wait.

Be sure to check the online menu and read the more recent reviews because the menu has changed.  The food is very good.  But I think the price range for entrees is above the $$ level.  It's small and noisy and there are lots of screens showing sporting events.  This is no place for an intimate/romantic dinner even with the great food.

Good beer selection, a happy hour in this area that extends past 6PM (4:30-6:30) a wonderful burger, good fries, creative selection of salads for the light eater (or closet eater), above average entrées, makes this one of my favorite local hangouts.

Starting with an IPA, yesterday it was Yards, served from a smiling bartender who was very friendly, attentive, and not overly chatty. The background  music is not over bearing where you can sit and talk with friends without feeling hoarse the next morning.  I've had the wings in the past, they are above average.  The burger was to die for with topping choices from an appetizing selection and served on a fresh fresh fresh Brioche Bun.  You had a choice of fries or a side salad, I felt healthy yesterday I had the salad which was served with a tomato basil light-ish dressing.  My friend had one of their fresh salads with chicken which I was assured was perfect.

I've been coming here for at least 10 years, about 10 times a year, I always forget to write about it because I take the consistency and quality for granted.

Small quaint bar/restaurant.  Nice atmosphere.  The best part is the whole place is non-smoking.  Appetizer of italian toast with balsamic, roasted peppers and mozzarella cheese.  Very good.  Great burger with Swiss cheese and BBQ sauce.  Prime rib for my husband.  Another plus was that the timing between drinks, appetizer and meal was perfect.  They weren't shoving your dinner plates at you when you were still eating your appetizer.

I have been to this place about 2-3 times per year for the past few years. I want to love it, it's 2 miles from my house. But I cant.

Yes, the bucket of balls are a delicious appetizer. Half price bevs and the $1 sliders at happy hour deliver. But the staff needs to read the book on customer service. Especially the young, blonde bartender, worst ever. Get over yourself and try to earn a tip with stellar service.

Nice beer selection on tap though!

I've been to Lucky Dog twice now.  It's pretty close to my house, has a pretty varied menu, as far as bar food goes, and has a decent beer selection.  The first time I was here, we tried the Bucket of Balls (fried cheese balls with marinara sauce) and the sliders.  I like the way they do sliders here - about 10 different kinds, including burgers, chicken parm, meatball, roast beef, chorizo, etc., and the sampling I had was solid.  Second time here I had a roast beef BLT, which wasn't awesome, but I also ordered a special dessert they had - a butter shortcake with a cinnamon cream cheese frosting that was super tasty.  I'm told one of the owners makes all of the desserts in house, I will definitely keep going back to try them.  Overall a sold place, great service, nice crowd.

Stopped in for a beer to give them  a 2nd chance.. not sure why. Beers tasted especially bad on draft but fine out the bottle. Coincidence? More likely that they havent' cleaned their lines since my review last year.

Cool place, but I would probably come here for the beer selection more than the food. I ate dinner here once a while back, and I recall thinking that the it was a bit overpriced for what the food/environment was. In this area, there are some great choices for food in a bar environment -- General Lafayette, Brittingham's, Ale House -- so you could probably do better.

That said, they have a fantastic beer selection, especially on tap -- everything ranging from Leffe Blonde through Victory. I highly recommend stopping in for a couple of beers after dinner.

My fiance and I had driven past this place several times and finally decided to try it on Valentine's Day (I just created my Yelp account so am reviewing it now). We'd done our "fancy" dinner on Saturday night and just wanted something cute and casual for that Sunday.

We're so happy we decided to try Lucky Dog! The atmosphere was great. Filled with people, great bartender, great sense of warmth, multiple TVs (definitely planning on returning during baseball season!) and interesting (dog-specific ... obviously) memorabilia.

    We had:
    -Buffalo Calamari
    -Cheeseburger
    -Various Sliders
-Brownie sundae (which was free because it was Valentine's Day!)

The calamari was HUGE and could easily be a meal for someone. Had we known that we might not have ordered such large entrees! Huge pieces of squid, sprinkled with giant chunks of bleu cheese and extra buffalo sauce for dipping, these calamari were something else. Needless to say, the plate was clean.

My fiance got the sliders ... you have your pick of about 10-15 options. He said they were all great. I believe he got meatball, cheeseburger, pulled pork ... there were others but I'm forgetting them. My cheeseburger was fantastic, cooked just the way I like it, served with a pile of fries. I took half of everything home and had it for lunch the next day!

Dessert was also incredible (and free!). Definitely a step up from the pre-packaged desserts found elsewhere. A warm brownie with melting ice cream ... gak. A perfect end to our very sweet and casual Valentine's Day dinner. We will be going back.

Lucky dog is a cute little bar and one of our favorites in the suburbs.  The atmosphere is great with nice decor, clear bar and restaurant area, and quiet enough that we could talk.  The selection of beer at the bar is great and they seem to vary it occasionally so I've been able to try a few new beers.  The food has all been good, the Bucket of Balls is definitely a favorite!

We went to the quizzo night which was fun and very challenging.  I'd definitely recommend this bar to anyone who lives in the area.

It took less time for the sliders to come out of the kitchen than it did to order them. Never a good sign.  And although we were hoping to be the lucky dog, being bathed in kitchen love, instead we felt like the feral stray, being served table scraps.  My guess is that our tray of kibbles was warm around at 1:00, when they were put together. But now at 6:30, they tasted like leftovers from a catering job that was cancelled. Have you ever seen a chicken parmesan sandwich where the chicken looked like deep fried crusted death and the cheese was a semi-transparent slab of deconstructing dairy oils, with a squirt of red sauce meant to glue the cheese to the roll?  No?  We did.

Love this quaint little place!  The interior is nostalgically attractive while not "trying too hard".

Lucky Dog has a great selection of beer along with a wonderful staff.  Their menu provides a little bit of everything.  My favorites among the menu are the Bucket o' Balls and their delicious salads.

I would say this is mostly a "locals" destination.  It is a great place for a small group of friends to relax and have a good time.

Living in the 'burbs, drinking and dining options pale in comparison to the cornucopia of food and booze harbored within the big city.  We know every option available to us and new joints don't pop up every other week; thus quality locations such as Lucky Dog maintain a solid local customer base.

The interior has the wood/brick feeling that every bar & grill chain strives for but falls well short of (genuine vs. cookie cutter); two healthy-sized televisions give you just enough sports coverage without inducing sensory overload or antisocial behavior.  Great beer on tap, maybe ten total, like Ommegang, Bell's, and Sierra Nevada Anniversary.  Excellent bar food and a few surprises; the lunch menu includes sandwiches (mentioned in previous reviews) and wraps that aren't offered at dinner.  Dinner options increase in prices that I usually reserve for swanky restaurants but you won't be disappointed with the fare here.  Mean burgers and great beers hit the spot at any time of the day.

Hey, wow, it's another random suburban review from city-girl me. I work in Conshy and Lucky Dog is one of our de facto lunch places when we can't bear to eat another peanut butter sandwich or Lean Cuisine. It's small but comfortable, the service is reasonably fast, and they have a patio that's nice in warm weather. I can't speak to most of the menu since I almost always order the French dip sandwich, but I can say that that is totally tasty, with hunks of steak and melty provolone. Also, their fries are excellent - tender and crispy. They do take-out too, so we can bring the goods back and make our office mates jealous.

I've been to this friendly neighborhood bar & grille a ton of times, and I always leave happy. The service is great and the menu selection is really extensive (my favorites are the BBQ sandwich and french onion soup, but they also have yummy salads, burgers, sandwiches and wraps). And because they have Magic Hat #9 on tap they have captured my heart forever. Hanging out in the 'burbs is usually not my idea of a fun night out (even though I live out this way; I know it doesn't add up but neither do I most of the time) but I'd go here for a leisurely lunch any day of the week. Parking's a bit wonky (there are a few spaces out front but otherwise you have to keep your fingers crossed for a spot on the side - don't park in the ones marked for the eye doctor or you'll have your peepers poked out) but other than that, this spot is all good in the 'hood.
