I tried not to write this review, but this place is creepy like other people have stated.  I honestly don't know how they are still in business.  On a Saturday night I went there and there was NO ONE in the place except employees.  The music was wack and there was no entertainment.  So why did the super creepy guy at the door feel the need to charge of cover of $10 each to each of us????  I turned around and got in my car and ot the heck out of creepy Keystone at the Crossing area.  Seriously, it's just not good around here after 8pm and I have yet to figure out why a decent bar or restaurant struggles here.  Maybe it's the employees???

Okay, I'm rescinding my previous reivew.  How can this place have gone completely 180 in 9 months?  Woah.

Now Lulu's is a sushi/Asian fusion restaurant.  I'm not sure I get it.

We ordered the edamame, dumplings, squid salad, mackarel, King roll and a chicken teriyaki bento box.

Dumplings tasted oddly fishy.  Aren't they supposed to be ground pork?

They were out of the squid salad.

The mackarel was limp and kinda gross.

My friend found her roll inedible.

Oh, and we waited 45 minutes after ordering to receive this debacle - and WE WERE THE ONLY ONES THERE.

    I'm never, EVER going back.

Shady ownership, staff on a revolving door and creepy crowd... Lulu's has changed and it's not for the better.

Lulu's is upscale for Indy and the food is pretty decent.  They also generally have bartenders that a) know how to cater to people with money (or who pretend they have money) and b) can actually mix drinks beyond the scope of "rum and coke."

Musically...my God, will someone tell the management that, not only is Hank Schwartz...err, Henry Lee Summer...a shadow of his former self, but his band sucks?   Please, please, please quit booking him as your entertainment.  I don't care how many people he brings in...they're not the audience you want.  Put a jazz band in, or start booking singer/songwriters.

While Lulu's is a 40s+ meat market, it's also a decent restaurant.  The sushi chefs they've had have always known great presentation, and someone's buying some damn fresh sashimi grade fish.  Happy hour has half price sushi on most days.  And the decor is pretty funky & eclectic, especially for Indianapolis.

Lulu's could be one of the city's gems if it would see itself as the place to be if you're 40-ish, have some money & taste, and aren't afraid to show it off.  Those aren't my kind of people, but that can be a restaurant that raises the bar for others around it.
