Depending on when you go, it is either packed or dead. On the weekends, it kind of turns into a club atmosphere, which isn't for me personally, but people dig it. The place is popping on the weekends. I prefer to go during the week. I go there once a week to hang out, have some drinks, and maybe play table tennis and pool. It is pretty laid back. Waitresses are good. Management is cool. I'm a fan of the smoking patio. In the summer it is really sweet to go out there. It IS really expensive, but it IS Rochester. The atmosphere makes up for it, in a way. Plus it is the only place I know of where you can drink and play table tennis...that isn't  my house.

Place was fairly crowded, but not much action on the dance floor.  However the other side with the ping pong tables, pool tables and darts had much more activity.

What a white trash hangout. I went there with my work friends and didn't even drink at all and was kicked out because I was laughing and a friend that was being hit on.  A fat bald bouncer that was a pathetic excuse for security asked me to leave. I will never go here again! If you are 18 and like low class people to hang out with, this is the place. If you like a classy place then go ELSEWHERE!

If you want to drink and play pool or dance, this is probably a good place, but not for food. I went for a party for a friend. We went out late and almost all of us wanted food at some point. The chicken tortilla soup looked and smelled amazing, yet was extremely bland. Two friends got fish and chips and I'm pretty sure the fish came straight out of a Gordon's fisherman's box. They were awful and neither of my friends finished it. I had the other Ruben, which wasn't horrible, but I asked my server for ketchup for the fries that came with it twice and never got it. Definitely will not go again for any type of food. And the service was not so great.

I used to live around here, and probably spent more time here than I should have. They got a dance floor in the back, and full blown pool hall in the front. Decent menu and coupla beers on tap. Need I say more?

This place sucks. The DJ is AWFUL! The music he picks is horrible. The drinks are weak and seriously over priced. The kind of crowd it draws it an older one and it's just gross watching them "grind" all over each other.

    I won't ever be returning.

This place is not so bad.  They have two sides. The pool side and the dance floor side with a bar in the middle.  I have been here a few times and nice because you could go dance if you wanted and then go back and chill out with your friends who were playing pool.

This place is not so bad.  based on some of the other reviews, I dreaded coming here for the first time.  The back entrance smelled of garbage.  I mean seriously, the dumpster is about 20 feet away from the back entrance.  Other than that, the bouncer was super-nice and quite funny, so I immediately liked this place (he must have read the bad reviews on yelp).

The place is divided into 3 sections: Dance Floor/Bar, Bar/lounge, and Billiards/ games.  The dance floor was quite dirty, with a broken glass on the floor that no one seemed to bother cleaning up.  The pool tables were packed, so we didn't play.  We didn't eat either - I dont think they served food when we went (Saturday night, 11:30).

I had a good time over all.  Not really sure why it's rated so bad.  I was with great people, and we had a great time.  I think it all depends on the company you keep how you feel about clubs.  I was with great company, didn't drink, didn't eat, didn't dance, but I still had a great time.  The music wasn't as bad as people said either.  Lots of hip-hop, but then again, we did come pretty late.

My friend and I wanted to go out to a club last Friday night and her guy friends suggested we all go to this place. First of all the parking lot is a police trap, I was the sober driver so they didn't bother me but they asked all the guys if they had warrants? Uh ok, all we did was park and we were treated like gang bangers.

The club looks like it had a nice layout, but beyond that it was nasty. Drinks spilled all over the floor that I never saw mopped up, the girls bathroom was way too bright and dingy, not to mention the door is out in the open right on the edge of the dance floor. Music was just sad, bad pop songs and maybe one hip hop song every half hour. The majority of people there were older women having bachelorette parties, attempting to dance and failing, and old creepy white and middle eastern guys trying to act cool. I can't say anything about the bar because I wasn't drinking but my girl friend said they were overpriced.

One star for the nice outside patio. One star for the fact that we left the place safely and learned to never return.

This place has the best pizza ever!  Who would have that a bar would have great pizza like this.  The waitress did not tell us that the crust was like a deep dish pizza, but man what a great surprise! We also ordered the sliders w/fries which were both great and an amazing blackened chicken ceasar wrap.  It was 6pm on a saturday and it was pretty empty so it was cool that we had our kids with us.  The bar crowd didn't start showing up till we left at like 7:30pm, so dont be afraid to take ur family and kids there for a great meal at a reasonable price.

Good place to hang out and play pool.  Food is nothing special and too expensive, so just come here for a couple of drinks and chill with your buddies.  It could get quite busy and if you come later you might have to wait a bit for a pool table to be available.  Very diverse group of patrons. I think this place needs to find a niche. Right now it's part pool house, part card tables, part restaurant, part dance club....  Overall it's alright.

Ok, I cannot attest to Main Street during normal dining times, so please don't take my review into account for that.  However, I have been drug to this establishment during bar hours.

If you want to people watch, take a seat at the couches and have your own Comedy Central Roast, because that it all this place is good for.  It is the only dance club in DT Rochester and it shows, the music is bad and the dance floor isn't even full.

I don't understand why Michigan struggles with great dance spots, but Main Street is just another example.  This place is definitely a skip, I would rather play DDR in my basement :).

My friends and I usually go here if we don't want to drive anywhere and can stand running into the same people who are always here.

On a weekend night, it's usually not too crowded, but the patrons here are pretty interesting -- girls dressed up for the club, pool players (i.e. hipsters and geeks), middle-aged creepy men scamming on the 21-year-olds, Rochester yuppies and their friends from high school, a few foreigners, and then the suburban kids trying to act ghetto. It's diverse, to say the least.

The music is good, but the drinks are overpriced and sometimes the staff can be rude. There's lots of seating, and a really nice outdoor patio though, and plenty of parking nearby.

Be careful leaving this place at 2 A.M. -- Rochester police tend to circle the block, looking for drunk drivers and watching out for the fights that frequently break out here.

On weeknights, they have specials and lower costs to rent pool tables. I'm sure it'd probably be alright here during the week just to hang out.

Its been a while since I've been here, but the last time I went I was sorely disappointed. I used to go very consistently with my friend to play pool over a few beers, usually for about 3-4 hours. They had beer specials and free pool if your bar tab exceeded your pool tab, which was fantastic if you ask me. Those were the days when we actually still went though. They slowly changed their drink specials and it has morphed into a "Oh, yeah the happy hour just ended an hour ago..." episode all over again. Be cautioned they open at like 3-4pm, so a mid day game is a no-go.

The food here is always just... okay. Its nothing stellar, it doesn't make me go "ugghh oh mah gawd i have to tell someone about this". Considering their interesting menu options, you'd think that wouldn't be the case. Disappointment. Service here is usually okay to great. The servers and bartenders are usually their saving grace, friendly and attentive. As I said before, they don't really have regular drink specials from what I can tell anymore, which is a huge disappointment. Beer and drinks are averaged priced, so its just kind of "meh, why not go somewhere else?"

I really like you, Main Street, but your management seems extremely confused about what to do on non-club nights and well, I'm growing tired of it.

Main Street billiards is an all-in-one kind of venue. It's a pool/billiards hall, sports bar/grille, and club packaged into one. I think it's a good, chill hang-out place for grabbing a few fair priced drinks and shooting pool in the evening. The bar food is very mediocre here - nothing out of the ordinary. The crowd is all 20-somethings and very suburbanite, laid back, and typically good-looking. The demographics are pretty representative of the surrounding areas of Oakland University, Rochester, Troy, Shelby Twp., etc. Just remember to expect a much more clubby, DJ-music, hip-hop and top 40 experience with a $5 cover after 9pm on Friday/Saturday. So it's a viable and laid back suburban party spot on the weekend nights, a sports bar and grille with tons of pool tables and TV screens for watching "the game" on weeknights and during the daytime, and it can just be a casual bar for meeting with a friend for some wings and beer. Really, this place doesn't excel at any one thing it does - but it is still above average and offers a lot of different things to do with friendly staff and a positive and laid-back crowd.

Main Street is a little confused about what it is, I think.  From the name, you would think it was a pool house, a place to grab a drink and maybe a bite to eat.  A place to kick back with your friends, listen to some music from the jukebox, and beat your brother at a round of pool.

Yes, it is that, but after 9pm, Main street Billiards thinks it's a dance club.  They even charge cover.  It's ridiculous.

So if you're coming here, come for dinner, a couple rounds of pool, and then get out of there before you go deaf from the music.

I've been here quite a bit, and I'm not at all impressed after 9pm.

I grabbed lunch here sometimes with friends; it was a great place to spend an hour having lunch AND shooting pool. Service was fast, and the food was always excellent. They do the sort of food you'd expect in a pool hall, but kicked up a notch to where it's passable as actual food made by people: spicy chicken sandwiches, big burgers, and fried stuff covered in cheese.

And I can say the tables here are the nicest tables I've played in a pool hall. Slapsticks, Snookers, and all those other places with equally witty names can't hold a candle to the tables here. The felt is actually kept well - some of those other places have tables that look like they were brushed with cheese graters!

But like I said... I have a problem with this place after 9pm. It becomes a "dance club", which means that they have a bouncer to scrutinize your dress, charge you way more than it's worth for "atmosphere," all the while being surrounded by a mostly young and rowdy crowd dancing to... real bad club music. If you're looking for a place to play pool after 9pm, you might want to try one of those other places that has drink specials. Definitely two stars off for pretending to be a club.

Beyond that, if you can get into MSB when it's slow (so basically, before 6pm dinner) it really is a wonderful hall to unwind in. It's just what happens after 9pm that, for me, is the exact opposite of "unwinding."

Great food and drinks.   I love the Blue Burger, but all is good.

Wait staff is freindly and prompt.  After 9pm there is a $5 cover charge and the place turns in to a great night club.  Good music, room for dancing and mingling.

During Dinner time it is a very Kid friendly.  If there is a sport on they will have it on one of the many TV's.
