The Tiki bar is awful. Â It's the sort of place that serves you a martini in a small plastic cup. Doubling down, they also provide cheap plastic cutlery for any food that you may be so unwise as to order. Â We asked for additional ketchup to dress up our lame sweet potato fries, and they achieved the plastic trifecta by bringing us a handful of ketchup packets. Â It's a shame because this place has a terrific view. But unless you are willing to smuggle in your own food, drink, and eating utensils, skip it and try anything else.
Review Source:I do have to say I was extremely disappointed by this one.  I think I ate here years ago when it was a Hilton and it was good. It is now a Doubletree and  The food was just bad.  The medium rare burgers we ordered were crunchy and past well.  The coconut shrimp was limp and soggy and could barely taste the coconut and there was none visible.  Also served dry - no sauce or wedge of lemon.  Company said the chicken wings were dry and the mild was actually hot.  The kids liked the cheese sticks - standard frozen variety.  The cuban was not a real cuban.  What can I say?  The food was horrible.  Would absolutely never recommend this unless someone just wants drinks under a tiki bar on the beach.  And let me add that they were not that busy.
Review Source:I like this place for more than just the food. You are literally eating on the beach. There's a beach entrance. Â So it's nice to eat, drink and enjoy the sunset.
Located in the Double Tree Hotel, the restaurant is beachside. Tons of free parking in the garage out front. You have the choice to eat inside, the balcony or the patio off the beach.
A fair amount of locals frequent the place beyond the hotel guests. There's an annual membership to the Mango Club for about $80. This entitles you to a free entree of equal or lesser value. Â We eat there with our kids and believe it or not, the free entree is the 2nd most expensive entree on the tab, not the least (typically the kids at other places). Â You also get other deals with this membership such as 10% off the bar tab if just drinking, discount on rooms, etc. Â We recooped membership fee quickly.
Also fun is the hula dancers at sunset on Friday night. Â Tons of kids enjoy dancing with the dancers as well as limbo. Â Everyone seems to enjoy the show. Â It's nice for the kids. Â It's a sweet show and nice to watch the kids have fun on the beach with the dancers. Â There's also live music on the weekends, typically a guitarist with his karaoke type backup system. Â Some singers are better than other, big deal, it's all part of the ambiance.
They also have a buffet on Friday night with a grill for steaks. Â Not a huge buffet but more for a quick bite to eat.
I haven't had a bad meal there. Â Not super fancy. Â The staff both at the restaurant and inside the hotel are very nice.
The bar off the beach is the Tiki Bar. Â It's always busy. Â There's also a quiet inside bar wtih TVs. Â The drinks are pretty good, they don't skimp on the alcohol when they make them. Â Thankfully, I can walk home after drinking there.
The beach was beautiful at sunset, the water warm, a slight sea breeze stirring. Lots of folks out taking photos of the fiery orb sinking below the water. Perfect end of the day and a little hungry so we walked up to the Tiki bar outside. Ordered our drinks and looked at the menu which is a pared down version of the restaurant's.
I settled on Fried Calamari and my friend had the Mixed Fruit Bowl.
I couldn't complain about the Calamari, they were sauteed up just right without being chewy but the dipping sauce that came with them..ugh!
I like cocktail sauce usually..horseradishy-spicy. This stuff tasted as it had been poured out of a jar of Ragu spaghetti sauce. Cloying in sweetness, no kick to it. It was a shame to dip the Calamari into it.
The fruit bowl had strawberries, melon and pineapple..it was okay.
I will bring a bottle of tabasco with me on future trips abroad..
