The Manhattan Inn

Went for late drinks a couple of weeks ago on a Friday funk dance night. Music was good, but had an issue with the bartender.

I ordered two Jamesons and he severely shorted the 2nd one because the bottle ran dry and he was too lazy to get another. Me and my friend were both watching and both noticed it instantly - it was like 1/2 of the 1st one.

I commented to the bartender that one was short and he said that it wasn't, and that it was just an illusion because that tumbler had more ice. Gimme a break. After going back and forth for a minute he got another bottle and topped it off because I think he realized I wasn't taking either if he didn't make it right.

The customer's always right buddy.

It is a piano bar, and it can be a great experience if the player picks the right music.  One wrong tune, and the mood is dead, eyes are rolling.  Please, don't play "Feelings".  

The talent is legit and so are the cocktails and food.  The sliders are tasty.  The empanadas, crisp, flakey and full of shredded chicken goodness.  The crustini, buttery and flavorful, mushroom topped and great for sharing.  It is a carb friendly menu and I wish they had a few more veggie options, perhaps seafood, raw bar.  The service is very friendly and it is a local hangout.  I'm hoping folks appreciate the musicians.  It can be awkward to walk into the dining room, if it is empty, and the piano player is the only human within arms reach.  Worth a trip to Greenpoint.....

After Googa Mooga was cancelled, my friends brought me here for dinner on that Sunday night.

We were set in the backroom, with the raised theatre seats (that still fold-i nearly face-planted in to the table because I didn't realize this). The piano player began as we walked in - and it was pleasant. I don't know how many servers we had, but it felt like they all were checking in on our table of three- but the food was fast and good, and they kept drinks in our hands.

I figure it is a place I will keep in mind for my next trip to Brooklyn.
