This place is a hidden gem. Food is very good. You can't beat the early bird dinner special. Steak was cooked perfect. I have been here multiple times and felt I should write a review. Surprising that they don't have more people in the restaurant. Give it a try.

Definitely the best food option in the neighborhood... good clean ingredients and recipes, a wide range of options including some very healthy ones, salmon, salad, simple pastas, etc... plus they deliver and take-out is generally pretty quick!

I used to live in Maspeth, so the Ale House feels like old times. Feels like home. Loud regulars at times...

The food was quite good, as was the service. I was in town to visit some old friends and I stopped in for lunch (and a few drinks), dinner (and a few drinks), and brunch (and a few drinks). Plus went for a few drinks one night...

Stopped here for lunch on the way to work, not bad at all. The waitress gave us a beer on the house for starters and took our order promptly. I had the hot turkey sandwich with a side of irish baked potato and my co worker had the deluxe ale house burger with fries. Both entries were delicious and freshly made. The waitress must have liked us cause we were even given a hot brownie Sunday on the house. The prices were very reasonable and the service was second to none.

surprisingly good food.  went here after work one day (7pm sunday) and must have gone in through the wrong door so we ate on the bar side.... now if LOUD drunk people are your thing then by all means, enjoy it but the only thing that ruined my night was the drunk girl yelling about how everyone should try her apple martini to guys twice her age looking at her in shame. next time ill eat on the quiet side.

Food wise, really really good~ i got the steak sandwich and fries and let me tell you from a bar it was delicious. the meat was cooked perfectly, it was served on a nice crusty bread with some meat dripping goodness soaking in. now the fries, are my biggest thing i hate ordering fries and getting limp fries, but these were crunchy, and soft fluffy potato heaven.

Hubs had the shepherd pie and it was huge he couldn't even finish it. he didnt even look up to see how my food was he was so into devouring his food :)

AND they deliver!!   im sold :)

I've been here once for lunch and once because we chose this place to have my sister's baby shower.  First the positives: beautiful decor, clean bathrooms, and very friendly and accomodating manager/owner who helped us plan every detail of the food.  We had a lovely shower, but the main disappointment was the food...The baked ziti we thought would be a safe bet, but no one wanted to take home the leftovers. The only thing everyone really liked was the lemon chicken.  When I went there for a lunch I had a DELICIOUS burger. I also ordered a cup of potato leek soup. I had never had it before, but should have ordered a bowl. It was wonderful. My mom has been there a few more times and hasn't cared for anything she's ordered. She and my aunt, a vegetarian, ordered a portobello and cheese dish and were surprised it to find a cold slab of cheese instead of the cheese being melted on.  I would definitely give it another try for lunch or dinner, but we won't be having any more parties there, which is a shame for such a quaint place. When you first walk in, there is a bar to the left and some high tables to the right. Around the corner to the left are two area. First, a small room with some large, comfy booths, and beind that a space for a party. We had about 50 people there, and it was beautiful because on of the wall is all doors and windows so we had a lot of light. If you do book a party, just make sure you try exactly what you are going to order first for dinner to be on the safe side. I would like to do another party here for the ambiance but I would be embarassed to tell the guests it's the same place because no one really cared for the food.

Maspeth Ale House recently house took over for R-Bar.

The layout is the same but they have renovated the restaurant portion of the building considerably. Beautiful stone and light fixtures.

The food is Irish fare mixed with American. Pretty tasty and great service.

There is enough room for parties.

Maspeth Ale House just opened recently on Flushing Avenue in Maspeth. I was curious about it since we don't have too many restaurants in Maspeth. It's half bar / half restaurant. The restaurant side was being used for a private party when I went, so I sat in the bar. College Football was on the numerous flat-screen TVs in the bar area and there was music in the background. It was pretty empty (maybe 5 other people), but I went early on a Saturday evening. Beer selection was good for a neighborhood place - I ordered a pint of Stella which tasted fresh and was served in a proper Stella glass. I opted for a burger rather than a full dinner, and I got a very large, tasty bacon burger with crispy fries. The bartender / waitress was responsive and friendly. I'd plan to go again and try it for a full dinner as I'm sure it wouldn't be disappointing.

I was also pleasantly surprised with the restrooms, which were beautifully finished and sparking clean. I very rarely have a good experience at bar / restaurant bathrooms and this was a noteable exception.

I encourage fellow Maspeth residents as well as those from neighboring areas to give Maspeth Ale House a try and share your experiences with the rest of us on Yelp.
