Wondering around Mt Clemens and looking for an outdoor patio to dine on is a challenge in early April. So once I decided to grab something and just eat at one of the many outdoor tables, there conveniently located, was Maya's Deli. This place was small, but busy. They have a good selection of sandwiches from corned beef to turkey to tuna to vegetarian. I ate the tuna melt and it was fantastic. Absolutely delicious and she put some of her delicious potato salad with it in my to-go box. I have no complaints on this place and would definitely stop in again.
Review Source:I've been here a couple times now since I started working in downtown Mt. Clemens. Â Maya's has been in Mt. Clemens for 15 years - family owned and operated. Â There is always a decent crowd for lunch. Â Known for their sandwiches, Maya's also has daily lunch specials that vary from hani style chicken tender wraps to macaroni and cheeese to beefy nachos. Â
I have not tried their sandwiches yet because their daily specials always seem so appealing. Â My first special was a salsa roll up. Â Turkey, ham, provolone, swiss, & cream cheese rolled in a flour tortilla slightly warmed and covered in salsa shredded cheese, lettuce, black olives and tomato. Â It may sound odd, but it works quite well especially when you ask for a side of jalapenos to cut the creaminess of the cheese.
On my next visit, I tried the beefy nachos. For $5. 75 you get what feels like 2 Lbs of food. Â Chips, ground beef, lettuce, tomato, black olives, green onions, jalapenos, and cheese sauce comprise this massive dish with sour cream and salsa on the side. Â The nachos are quite good, but would be better with shredded cheese instead of cheese sauce. Â
The best part about Maya's is the people working there. Â Since it is a family owned establishment, they bring a sense of belonging to everyone who walks in the door. Â Many of the customers are greeted by their first names. Â Some have "usuals" and others get razzed by the folks behind the counter. Â All of that translates into a love that can't be given at your local chain sandwich shop.
