Lovely spot on the Columbia River. Â In the good weather, it's awesome. Â
We've been twice and the first time wasn't so good. Â Lousy service and just ok food. Â But the location brought us back.
Our next trip was much better although service could be better. Â Our waitress was helpful, but not very attentive. Â I think you should have a beer in your hand (or other beverage) within 5 minutes of ordering. Â We ordered the Bacchus IPA and the Sweet Heart IPA. Â Both were good. Â We shared a Spinach Inquisition Salad with Salmon. Â It was very good.
Service sucks (tried FOUR times)...wait staff dresses SLOPPY..can you believe they don't have corporate dress code??!! Hostess (who's your first impression) = sloppy hair a mess like she never slept the night before and never ONCE smiled. Â Waiter spilled dressing all over our table and NEVER cleaned it up! When he saw I did it...after waitign 30 minutes he said, (and I REALLY do quote) "Our bartenders are so slammed right now, sorry , if I were you I wouldn't wait, CAn I get your check?" Â WTF?! I have been a culinary manager for corporate chain restaurants my WHOLE life and I NEVER have EVER been so .... so... oh what's the word....disgusted! Â The bar is great the patio is great, but the ambiance doesn't do shit if you can't back it up with good food and good service...(ceviche sucks btw).....wasted $100 bucks every time I go... saving money...no more do I go there. Â View ain't worth the distraught. Â I just look around as a manager myself and I can see EVERYTHING they are missing. Â Sunny day...not enough staff...really? Â We've been forcasted for 2 freakin' weeks now...you can't make phone calls? Your staff hates you that much they won't answer your calls? Â Not my restaurant baby!!! I never ran bad labor and I NEVER had a server that wouldn't answer my text or call....they loved me and bend over backwards for me, that's what happens when you treat your staff right!!! I will NEVER go back to this place EVER again...nor will my friends. Â They all had similar experiences and after explaining to them that it was a corporate management issue they agreed....don't go back...that shit takes too long too fix...even if someone is actively trying to fix it. This place is horrible service and sub-standard food, bottom line...no THANK YOU! NO!
Review Source:I keep trying to love McMenamins. Really, I do. I've been to at least 6 different locations in the greater Portland area and I just cannot get into it. The food selection is a little different at every location but is never good. The beer is okay at best. The service is...inconsistent. The reason I gave this location 3 stars instead of two is because our waitress was very good and you cant beat the view. But every other McMenamins I've been to has never been worth more than 3 stars.
Review Source:The best thing going for this restaurant is the view, if you can get seated outside. On a clear day, it's definitely worth it. Beautiful with the Columbia river right next to you.
There's also a concrete walking/jogging path, and from your vantage point on the restaurant patio, it looks like the joggers are floating. You can't see their feet. It's creepy cool!
Yes, I'm easily amused.
It was quite crowded for lunch on a Thursday afternoon, but we were able to get seated right away. It took a while to get a server to come over, though. Then about another 20 minutes before he came back to take our order. Another 20 or so before he came back to refill drinks. The food arrived about 10 minutes after that.
So definitely plan accordingly as you may be here awhile.
I ordered the Mahi Mahi Tacos, and they were fine. I think the Mahi was a bit overcooked but the taste was decent. They are very light, almost appetizer size. Go with something heavier if you're really hungry.
My lunch partner ordered the Spinach Salad and was quite satisfied.
All in all, not a bad place to kick back with a nice view if you've got some time.
Just left McMenamin's with my husband. The place wasn't super busy, but the service was extremely slow. My husband and I both ordered a cup of clam chowder. I also had a tuna melt and he had some pulled pork sandwich, both with Cajun tater tots. None of the food was supposed to be cold, but everything was cold. The food was good, but it would have been great if it was even semi-warm. The chowder was just plain gross. It had a weird flavor, it was sweet for some reason. Â Won't be in a hurry to come back here.
Review Source:The service was good. Being charged $1.95 for not even 1/4 of an avocado is outrageous! The honey mustard dressing was gross. And why doesn't Mcmenamins sell Coke or Pepsi? My roommate ended up paying $17 for her burger, because she changed it a little. Sheesh. We will probably not be NFL anytime soon.
Review Source:I love this place!! The only reason I'm not giving them a 5-star rating is because their service hasn't always been stellar each time.
My boyfriend and I actually met here for our first date almost 1 year ago. Our server must've sensed it was a first date type of situation b/c they were really cool about just letting us sit there, even after our meal was done, to chit chat and get to know each other.
We've only had bad service from them once and it was just the server that sucked. My boyfriend and I weren't really hungry but wanted to have a few beers. We sat at our table for awhile, maybe even longer than an hour, and didn't really order anything except for brews and maybe an appetizer. I think she was pissed off b/c our small order meant less of a tip for her.
Overall though, the staff is friendly, the environment is fun, the beer is great and it's on the waterfront. If you're lucky enough to catch a nice day in Vancouver, sitting on the patio is the preferred place to be. Their menu is fairly simple, offering mostly burgers and sandwhiches but their cajun tots are excellent and worth the trip alone!
I love this place and look forward to eating/drinking/socializing there again.
I was visiting a friend for a weekend in Portland/Vancouver and went here just after we had finished brunch for a noon beer, because everyone needs those once in a while!
Anyway, we sat down at a booth, gawked at the amazing view of the river, and looked down at  the menu... it made me wish I was hungry. Once I pried my eyes off of that, I looked at the beer list and ordered a decent wheat while taking in the view on a clear winter morning. Overall, an enjoyable experience, but I was a bit thrown off at how many menus were on the table: each person in our three-person party got a beer list, food menu, and flier for the week's events. Then on the table were more fliers and a happy hour menu. Then when our beers came out, he put coasters down 0_0
It's McMenamins and anyone who has lived here more than a year has at least visited one of their several locations. Â This is my favorite spots ESPECIALLY on a nice August evening while the sun is still warm in the sky, it gets an "A" for that.
The menu is what you would expect in a chain style restaurant, they have something that is appealing to everyone and nothing on the menu really stands out. Â I am pretty much a salad person so atmosphere is usually bigger on my list. Â The food next door at Beaches is usually better but McMenamins has them beat on outdoor seating, I give them a "B" on food.
Next to atmosphere drink menu is important to me. Â I am not a fan of the heavy "brew pub" beer, in fact I think it tastes like motor oil. If you are not a fan of the local brew this place is not for you because your only choice is Coors Light for domestic beer for this I give them a "D"
I have been here at least a dozen times and the service has always been great so for that they get an "A"
I've been going to the McMenamins Pubs ever since I moved here 13 years ago, particularly this one on the Columbia River. It used to be so special and was generally one of our first choices. Over the years, something has changed. It's been nagging at the back of my mind for the past couple of years, a general disappointment nearly every time I go there. The burgers are dry, the fries greasy, or the service is poor.
Without really thinking about it, we have slowly stopped going there. Last night, we decided to go again and the experience was probably the final straw. I ordered the chicken sandwich and a cup of chowder. The grilling on the sandwich was so intense that I mostly tasted charcoal and the chowder was fishy, bland and full of big lumps of flour. The worst of it was that there was a funny smell coming from the sandwich that smelled a little like something rotting. I couldn't quite figure out where it was coming from, either the chicken or the cheese, but it was off putting. When I mentioned it to my wife, she reminded me that last time we came she had had to send back her Salmon burger and the time before that we got a waitress who was rude, dismissive, and incompetent.
At two o'clock in the morning, my wife woke up with stomach distress and was up for hours...
I don't know what happened here, whether the management has fallen into a lazy pattern and because of the beautiful view doesn't feel like they have to step up to the plate anymore, but they are using up their good reputation and need to figure things out.
I had been craving clam chowder and my husband was amenable, so we visited McMenamin's on the Columbia tonight.
We were met at the door by a sullen young woman who didn't know how to smile.
The chowder was very so-so. Â It was difficult to find any clams in it, and my second spoonful contained a wad of congealed roux. Â Not what I had in mind.
My husband's tuna melt, however, was excellent, and the side salad was as well.
We'd stayed away from McMenamin's for a couple of years because they went from having halibut fish and chips to cod. Â Tonight's chowder doesn't make me want to rush back.
Were it not for my husband's good choice, I'd give the restaurant only 2 stars.
I've been here a few times; both for late night dining and drinking. Â The late night happy hour menu is not impressive. I found the food overpriced for its quality. Â I tried the aztec bowl with brown rice, black beans, peppers, onions, sour cream, and salsa. It was too acidic and gave me indigestion. However, the spinach salad that my date ordered looked delicious. Â I hope they expand their late night happy hours and their food selection as well as increase the quality for the prices. Â Also, steer clear of the black and tan brownie--no chocolate flavor and bland.
The ambience here is warm and cozy, lots of booths and a great long bar to enjoy. It would be great for getting beers with friends, but avoid the food. Â Their house pinot noir is actually good for those who prefer wine.
Passing down 5 stars to this McMenamin's was a shock! Yet well deserved. Â We must have came here about 4-5 times in 2 days to enjoy beer and food. Â The location and atmosphere of this place is what gives it the extra stars. Â When you are sitting with a tray full of beers, on the patio, warm breeze, beautiful view, it's hard not to love life.
The first night we came here, it was pretty late, but our waiter Kevin was on his game and had us taken care of in minutes. Â Menus and drinks were at our table within minutes of sitting down. Â We didn't jump on any food on this visit, just enjoyed each others company and drank our adult beverages.
Next day we came back with some family to have dinner. Â I decided on the Reuben with Cajun Tots. Â The Reuben wasn't the best, i've obviously been spoiled by Goose Hollow Inn. Â As for the Cajun Tots, i'm not a Tater tot guy. Â HOWEVER, these were the best i've ever encountered. Â Crispy, flavorful, and dusted with a perfect amount of cajun seasoning. Â The portion size on those things are redonkulous as well. A small looks like a large, and a large looks like a XXL!
I also need to point out that service was on point. Â Our primary waitress was going on break after she took our order. Â Before she left, she found the other waitress and her take care of us while she was on break. Â She actually helped too!! Didn't just say, "Hi!" and walk off. Â It was nice to be taken care of so well.
They caught wind that it was our son's B-day and even though my son politely declined, they still brought out a huge slab of cake and ice cream for him. Â Which he gratefuly chowed down on.
We had a great time, and the next time we stay in the Couv, we're probably gonna jam back here and have some beers and tots!
This must be their equivalent of BJ's in the northwest. Nothing really fancy about the drinks or food here.
Their purple haze ale is a replacement for their raspberry ale. Not bad, not bad. Was disappointed in their pale ale as it had a super bitter taste...while the menu kept boasting of a "caramel" flavor. Umm...that should just be in reference to the color of the ale, not the taste.
Their salmon sandwich here is pretty damn good though. Paid it with the tater tots and it was a delicious entree!
Service here was not bad for a Saturday summer evening. Everyone jockies for a seat outside during summertime, so expect a lotta waiting there. Or, be like me and just take the first table available and wait time was less than 10 mins.
Stopped here for lunch the other day, overall average. I had a salmon burger which was overcooked and on the dry side. the tots were pretty darned good though! Tuna melt was decent. My sisters Reuben was not very good, the meat was rubbery and just an odd texture. The outside patio is very nice with a great view of the river, but there were fighter jets constantly going by over the river which were SUPER noisy and kinda ruined the ambience.
Review Source:We had a really wonderful evening and meal at this McMenamin's last night. Â I know, and agree with many, that McMenamin's is still working to improve their reputation for slow service, etc. Â But our experience at this river front location was great.
We wanted to sit outside on a beautiful evening so we elected for a short wait and got our pager and went in the bar and ordered a drink. Â Service fast, drinks great. Â We got our page before 1/2 done with our drink and were taken outside to a great table. Â
Our server was excellent, our food was VERY good! Â Fresh, delicious, wonderful. Â The view over the Columbia made it all the better. Â Here's hoping this type of service and quality is indicative of McMenamin's improvements at all their establishments.
I keep reading how McMenamin's service is spotty at best, especially in this location. I must either be a lucky guy or a great customer, because the service I've experienced here has always been prompt and friendly.
Besides, it's hard to beat some tots and a great beer, with such a great river view! If you enjoy a hoppy brew, be sure to try the Thor's Hammer, which I believe is a specialty of this location.
Mmmm, now I want beer and tots.
Well, it's a McMenamin's. You know what to expect: good happy hour, decent beer, and spotty service. Like some other McMenamin's, there's usually something about the location and/or atmosphere that separate it from their strip-mall pubs. Here, obviously it's their location on the Columbia River waterfront.
On a nice day/evening, sitting outside along the river here matches up with just about any other place in the PDX-Vancouver area. ALL McMenamin's have inconsistent and so-so service; get over it, adapt and enjoy yourself.
Saw this great waterfront location coming across the bridge and knew I had to seek it out. Nothing seemed like a better idea than waterfront patio dingin on the columbia on a nice sunny day. Patio is a bit too shaded for my taste though, but I bet others enjoy it. There appears to be some sort of path out front that was busy with walkers which makes for additional people watching opportunities. I frequent various McMenamins so I know their beer. I'm a fan of the ruby myself, there were a few seasonals I wanted to try but didn't have time on this visit. I was suprised at the variety on the menu, so many things I wanted to try. I love the cajun tots here, but I settled for a tofu brown rice bowl which was pretty good. Bf got a burger with an egg on it, he thinks eggs make everything better.
Review Source:I went back with my mom during the dinner rush, her choice, not mine. Â We the special Thai sweet potato fries. Â I loved them! Â We shared the high pasta, and the brewers salad. Â The high pasta had chickenfish (we couldn't tell which one it was) mixed in, it has never come with meat in it before, we checked the menu as we were leaving, and the high pasta wasn't supposed to have any meat in it. Â The brewers salad was blander than usual and had very few hazelnuts in it. Â Sadly none of this bothered me that much, because I've come to expect very little from them.
Review Source:I have been to other restaurants in this chain and have always had a good experience... Not the case here. Slow service, took 20 mins to be seated (even though there were 4 empty tables), had to constantly flag down our waiter for another pitcher, to take our order an to get the check. I ordered the bacon and blue cheese burger- it came with blue cheese dressing! And no, it was not melted blue cheese...
Pretty view is the only positive thing I can think to say about this venue.
While their food is consistent with other McMenamin's in the area, their service is lackluster. In spite of requests to carry items on other McMenamin's menus like the gyros or pasta dishes, they won't do it.
At this branch on the Columbia, I've had poor service and then been frowned upon for not tipping well. Service is really hit and miss, sometimes we wait for 20 minutes before being approached with a menu and food.
Their happy hour and late night service is what seals the deal and bumped them up to 4 stars. To get 5 stars, they need more consistent service and a more diverse menu.
I have eaten more at this Mcmenamins (and the others) more than any other restaurant. No matter how bad my service is, I always come back, and here's why:
1. Their happy hour is tailor made for me. I love tater tots and veggie burgers, both of which are on the happy hour menu.
2. They're open late on the weekends. Most places that are still open when I get off work are not places where I would want to ingest food. I know that my system will never reject the meal listed in number 1.
3. The atmosphere is perfect for conversation. It's private, but not serious or pretentious, it's comfortable without being too worn in. There is lots of crap on the walls to look at, but not the kind of crap that the company buys from China one big cargo container at a time.
And finally,
4. I loves me a good hummus plate.
McMenamin's is what finally convinced me to get a Yelp! account. Â While driving around town today, my partner suggested that we haven't been to McMenamin's in years. Â It didn't take long to remember why. Â
McMenamin's has one of the most beautiful spots on the Vancouver waterfront with a view of the 5 bridge and boat docks on the other side of the Columbia. Â The layout and decor of the restaurant is likewise very comfortable and pleasing. Â The staff are pleasant for untrained non-professional wait staff. Â The wait staff dress code is definitely of the "whatever is on the floor closest to the bed". Â It is a shame that the atmosphere of this prime restaurant space is degraded by the homeless atmosphere of their staff.
Their wait staff policy is the all too typical "full utilization of the employee is more important than service to the customer". Â Our server was adequate but barely.
To the food. Â And I hope I have some method to upload pictures to this review because it will be hard to believe otherwise. Â I had their version of a buffalo chicken sandwich. Â It arrived with an adequate amount of French fries. Â I opened the bun to add the hot sauce, served on the side, and was presented with 3 small cut up chunks of chicken. Â I would feel comfortable saying there might have been 2.5 oz. of meat - on a $10.50 sandwich. Â Further, the chicken having been cut to these precise portions was dry and tasteless, as would be expected after being grilled. Â The cook must have had some degree of knowledge to have balanced these morsels on a grill without falling through the grate. Â The waitress even laughed when I showed her what she had brought me.
My partner had the Reuben. Â 3 slices of, obviously pre-packaged, 1/32 in thick corned beef with half a can of sauerkraut on toasted bread with some kind of dressing which she could not identify, but certainly not Russian dressing. Â She tried to reorganize the meat in such a way as to at least cover the bread and get a taste with each bite, but it was a fruitless task.
So our $32 meal with tip as on par with a $10 trip to Carl's Jr. Â Except the Carl's Jr. food would have been better and more plentiful. Â It was not a $22 view for 45 minutes. Â Hopefully this review will be enough to remind us, next time, of why we haven't been to this restaurant in years.
If you want this atmosphere, I strongly suggest that you go to a restaurant, get take away and sit on the benches on the public walk by the waterfront, all the view and an actual meal.
Not sure why this place gets so much love from other reviewers. The only thing good I have to say about this place is that it's at a great location with a great view of the Columbia. If you want to go on a mediocre date and make your date think that you're Mr. Romantic but cheap, go here.
The food is bar food, average at best. I have been here a couple times when it was busy. The worse experience is when the cheese in my burger came burnt. I mean, it was black and not edible by human standards. At least they were cool about it and put the burger on the house (not that I would have eaten it anyway).
Then again, you pick your poison down there at the waterfront in Vancouver, WA. It's either this place, Beaches (another bar food type place), Who Song and Larry's, or Joe's Crab Shack. Unfortunately, the clientele in that area can't match the superb view that the Columbia has to offer.
Still got great service during a packed house on a Saturday night. Â Unfortunately they do not take reservations and I had to wait an hour to get in, but they do give you a pager, which gave me and my lady a great opportunity to enjoy a walk along the river.
My food, the blue cheese burger, was great, though it was served warm instead of hot. Â I'm sure it was on the plate a couple minutes waiting for the server, as they were super busy. Â My lady's food, a pulled pork BBQ sandwich, was not special, but not horrible. Â Side salad was good, with dressing served on the side without request. Â Tots were great though the portion was a little small. Â The house beer I consumed known as Ruby Ale is awesome. Â
Decor is top notch. Â Everything was very clean and well taken care of. Â Every McMenamin's I've been too has been very good and this was no exception. Â Aside from the 2nd rate BBQ sandwich, I was very happy with my selection, my drink, my server and the location itself. Â I would absolutely recommend this place.
See previous McMenamin's review.
They're ALL the same!
I must point out two things, though. Â While the waitress seemed better than I'm used to at a McMenamin's (if I didn't point it out at the other one - they don't care about you), I spilled my drink (yes, I know, I'm clumsy - it's left over from years of being a dork in school) and I swear she saw that it happened and did nothing. Â Then we asked for more napkins (I know she saw it then) and didn't offer to help clean it up just brought a stack of napkins.
Second, and I know I mentioned this before - WHO SERVES ROYAL CROWN PRODUCTS???? Â I must remember this about McMenamin's and boycott it for that reason alone. Â After asking for a Diet Coke and not being corrected that I'd be receiving a Diet Rite and (see above) spilling it . . . maybe it was my subconscious hate of the Diet Rite . . . I asked for a 7up because that's the one thing that is palatable of their selections. Â I was even wrong on that, it tasted nothing like 7up. Â Oh well, just another McMenamin fail.
Maybe someone could buy out McMenamin's and rename them all "Pubby McTots" and keep only the tater tots while changing everything else. Â Yes, this is my dream.
Take the usual deal involved with McMenamin's. Great happy hour, good beer, excellent tots, decent food other than cajun tots, and absent-minded but endearing and friendly service. McMenamin's starts by default at three stars, much like Starbucks starts by default at two.
Add a view and not having to slog across the bridge on C-Tran, and you get four stars. Beer, deck, friends, wi-fi, summer, Vancouver...really, what the heck else do you need?
McMenamin's on the Columbia is a definite treat. The views of the water are just great and it's a perfect place to eat on a nice sunny day.
My step-dad and step-brother came to visit the Portland area and I took them here (since I live in Vancouver) and they really enjoyed it.
The food is just kinda regular but the happy hour specials are AWESOME. Hummus and pita, I love you.
We also ordered the calamari and the tzatski sauce didn't taste like anything, so I would suggest asking for a side of tartar sauce to go with it because apparently they don't have Marinara sauce (what?!). Don't ask me, I have no idea. but yea, I would say go for happy hour. The deals are great and the view is even better!
Yes, I think the McMenamin's Empire might be inherently evil. Yes, I've got my gripes with many of the locations and services they have to offer. Yes, they've got a good thing going, and I will continue to patronize them whilst bitching about all of the aforementioned problems.
That being said, this is by far my favorite Mcmen's location. The outdoor seating on the river relaxes me enough to overlook the somewhat neglectful service and just enjoy myself. The menu at this location is much bigger and has a lot more than your average pub fare. The cheddar and crab fondue with rye bread was pretty decent. The chicken coconut curry dish was way better than I expected (however I had just finished a long hike, so maybe anything that provided sustenance would have tasted fantastic!) Other bonuses this location provides is an onsite brewer, and rotating taps of non-Mcmen's IPA's.
This rates 4 stars only because it is the best of the worst of Mcmen's. Anything else and it would get a solid 3.
I have been here quite a few times and always enjoy a pint of their Ruby beer. Very tasty. But the real reason to come here is to enjoy a beer on their deck in the summer. Right on the river, so there is always something to watch, and who doesnt want to sit outside on a beautiful summer day?
The service is average. Not great by any means, but I have never had a rude server. Their food is also average, with pricing to match. The only thing I will reccomment here is their tator-tots. YUM!! Always have them, and they never let me down.
I had the day off, the Wife was calling to be taken out to lunch and because the young one was at daycare we could go somewhere that we didn't have to order by number or make decisions such as apple dippers or fries! Â We decided on McMenamin's On The Columbia. Â Not because of the great service, it's not really. Â Not because it is a great value for the money, it's not really. Â None of those reasons are why you come to a McMenamin's. Â You come for atmosphere and to relax. Â Which we did.
We sat there, inside today for it was nippy outdoors, sipping our drinks and watching the Columbia lazily slip past, a man on a sailboat was tacking back and forth across the river making for a lovely view, but honestly, why? Â It's a freakin' river man! Â The scenery changes more if you go the other way.
Our burgers eventually arrived before we fainted from hunger and as always it was a grade A burger, I had the Wilbur, she had a bacon cheeseburger, and we both remarked how this McMenamin's seems to do fries just a bit better than the others.
One unnerving thing, our server looked like a mug shot of Bruno Hauptmann (he was accused of kidnapping the Lindbergh baby and eventually convicted and executed).
Ahh college football. Â There's nothing quite like the smell of smuggled Jack Daniels on the bated breathes of rowdy university students* to tell you that fall is finally here. Â
But as a card carrying member of the alumni association these days, getting to games takes a little more coordination than a prefunk'd hop, skip & jump across campus to the stadium. Â
For many of us, the closest we get to the action is tuning in via television, bound together as we sacredly don the colors of our alma mater. Â We watch in unison as our guys take on that team from wherever while praying that the jerk referee isn't officiating. Â It's the game day way. Â Â
Yet when the final whistle blows and the reporters go back to the studio we typically find ourselves in need of some fresh air and a post game beverage... and I've learned the perk of being 370 miles away from the action: no abhorrent wait to get onto a nice patio for a drink.
The closest place for us 'Couver Kids with the best riverside view is McMenamin's on the Columbia. Â Â
Yes... another McMenamin's. Â Service is slow, but it allows you plenty of time to revel in the glory of that amazing interception leading to touchdown, or to drown your sorrows in the defeat from too many false starts and five yard penalties.
But also present is the comfort of knowing that you'll get it right next time. Â Like "Maybe next time we'll quit fumbling the ball so much" or "Maybe next time we'll remember that it's not really worth ordering food here." Â
Yet the atmosphere is nice, and a pleasant place to hang with friends for a while over a round of Terminator Stouts, or any of the other standards on tap. Â The experience is moderate, which is to be expected. It's not perfect, and never will be. Â But it's as close as it will get. Â
It's a good place to mellow out, move on, and reconfirm your alliance to your team in a toast. Â And really, isn't that what football season is about? Â
*Go Cougs!
If you are looking for a relaxing place to enjoy a river view and soak up the sun on a summer day, this is a great place for an outdoor dinner date. Although the menu is the typical sub-standard mcmenamin's fare, there is nothing sub-standard about the ambiance or the view.
Outside seats are hot property and given out on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are meeting up with a large group, the host will not seat you on the patio until everyone in your party arrives. Soooo, you will most likely miss out on dining alfresco unless everyone shows up on time.
This is one of my favorite McMenamin's outposts. I love sitting at the tables outside and watching the planes land at the airport, the sailboats and other pleasurecraft that ply the mighty Columbia, and the general buzz of people on the waterfront path. The food and beer are outstanding too, which never hurts.
Be aware that if you arrive after 10 pm, your children will not be admitted (isn't that a bit late for dinner with kids, anyway?) but the rest of the time they are welcome and there's lots of good food for them to choose from.
My favorites include their burgers and tater tots, but their fries are good, their sandwiches are excellent, and when I want to be a bit healthier, their grilled chicken breast is really tasty.
Service here is always good even outside which isn't the case at some other riverfront places.
