I ate here for the first time last night and really enjoyed my experience. The room is beautiful, the belly dancer added a fun element, and, most importantly, my food was delish! I had the spanakopita platter and didn't regret my choice for an instant. The perfect meal for this non-meat-loving girl. Very generous portions. I was determined to try the baklava but I ended up taking it home with me because my meal didn't leave room for dessert.
I'm a Burnsville gal so the location can't be beat, but the prices will probably keep this place as a fun night out and not a weekly stop.
P.S. Try the flaming cheese! The dramatic presentation alone is worth the money. So fun!
The place looks great - airy, clean, beautiful. But the food was medioker to say the least. I ordered a cous-cous salad, and it tasted, like it was whipped from the ingredients on sale at the nearest supermarket. Blobs of cold cous cous stuck together, dried cranberries and tangerines from a can, with some dressing poured on top. No resemblance to "mediterranean" food whatsoever, and I can proudly say, I know Greek and Turkish cuisines very well.
My suggestion to the owners - shorten your menu to make sure everything on it is fresh and delicious. It's not the size, that counts!
I've come here a few times for the lunch buffet, and once with some friends for dinner. Â Both times, I was satisfied.
Greek/Middle-Eastern food is one of my favorites, so I can be a bit picky. Â Med Cruise Cafe does a decent job. Â I would say that it is very Minnesotan, as the flavors are pretty straight forward/bland. Â They give you a lot of food for the price, so for some people that is a great thing. Â This is especially true with the all-you-can-eat buffet.
The service is OK, sometimes good and sometimes poor. Â Sometimes they have a belly dancer, which is different. Â She comes around and asks for tips. At dinner, they had the music up really loud for her, which made it difficult to have conversations.
Overall, this is a great place to eat if you're hungry and like Greek food. Â You're not going to find any unique dishes you wouldn't find at other Middle-Eastern restaurants, but they do a great job for the suburbs.
