Don't do it. Â
There are good dive-y Asian buffets and there are bad dive-y Asian buffets. Â This unfortunately falls into the latter category. Â It's cheap, but you get what you pay for. Â Our lunch buffet was $7 - all you can eat and featured all of the usual suspects - sesame chicken, sweet & sour chicken, egg drop soup, hot & sour soup, egg rolls, chicken wings, sushi rolls (if you're feelin' risky) salad bar section, mussels and soft serve ice cream.
If I'm going to calorie-load on an Asian buffet I want it to be good, hot and fresh. Â The food was warmish and everything fried had that slighly soggy - I've been sitting in this warming bin for a while - taste. Â No wonder the food was cold, it was freezing in this Denney's turned Asian Buffet - the wall thermostat said 62F. Â
Maybe they do it right when the food is made-to-order, but I don't think I'll be going back to find out.
We stopped on the way home from the airport last night. Â When we arrived at about 545 (sorry, but Yelp doesn't allow colons in their reviews. Â Ohfer!), there were not many diners but I saw a couple of them tieing into crab legs. Â Interesting. Â
They have sushi, which I did not taste. Â (shrug) Â They have many offerings, several of which are fish or seafood (mussels, clams, crab legs, coconut shrimps, salt & pepper shrimps, crayfish). Â Of all those, I most enjoyed the crab legs and the coconut shrimp - fried shrimps in a creamy coconut sauce. Â (shrugs). Â There were lots of other selections, too, and two soups. Â The hot and sour soup was hot but not sour; my egg roll was barely warm (could be my fault for not eating it immediately) Â They have desserts, which I did not have. Â My companion had some canned mandarin oranges and another cakey-desserty thing. Â (shrug) Â My companion pigged out on stuff; my take is to take maybe only one or two bites worth of any given dish, then I can decide if I want to go back for more. Â The salt & pepper shrimps were a bit tough.
And for all that, I'll go back again -- the staff was accommodating when I asked for vinegar to sour up my soup; they were friendly and eager to please. Â I wish them success in their venture.
By the time we left at 635, several more cars and customers had arrived; rather a lot of Asian folks, I thought. Â
Give them a go.
