Mikado is located at 895 South College Mall Road, Bloomington, IN 47404. The UPS store is next to this restaurant. The location is very convenient because both Kroger supermarket and the international grocery store, Saraga, are behind Mikado restaurant. Therefore, you can have a dinner with your friend at the weekend after shopping in the College Mall and buy some groceries. However one thing I want to mention is that Mikado usually opens at 4:30 pm, and closes at 9:30pm on Sunday to Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, it opens from 4:30 pm to 10:30pm. At a result, we cannot eat some delicious food in this restaurant during lunchtime.

Just like other Japanese restaurants, generally Mikado has many different kinds Japanese food such as Sushi, Sashimi, Udon, and Japanese Hotpot, etc. The price is around $10 ~$30 for a lunch or dinner entrée. This price is not very expensive comparing to other Japanese restaurant in Bloomington. However this price is higher than the American food such as pizza. But their servers and waiter is very kind and patient to customer. Their food is very impressive and very traditional Japanese food. Thus, higher price can also be accepted. The atmosphere is very quiet and elegant for people who want to have a great and romantic night with their friends. However this is not adaptable for people who don't like quiet atmosphere.

For me I like the Shrimp Udon and Japanese hotpot., especially Japanese Hotpot. I eat this entree in a good Japanese restaurant in Indy. I also ordered Hotpot in that restaurant however its ingredients just vegetables not include some shrimps. It doesnt taste as good as I ate in Mikado before.

Mikado has average sushi, but their service is terrible. I waited 3 hours for my delivery. I was lied to on the phone about the status of my order. Everyone who I spoke with seemed flustered and didn't know how to run take out. I will never be ordering from or eating at Mikado again.

Well where do we begin? I know! Ordered an octopus salad with cuke and seaweed. It had dried seaweed that normally is reserved for miso soup, wads of it most of which hadn't even had proper time to soak in water and expand.  The sauce was a nasty mix of dashi and oil. The whole thing was around $5. Well I didn't think it could get worse but it did, the sushi was like something you would buy in a grocery store, but a little bit worse. Oh and the last thing I had ordered was the gyudon. It for some odd reason had noodles and rice, and some very flavorless tough meat. Overall a very big $27 disappointment. I think I'll go to Steak N'Shake!

I don't know what these one-star reviews are talking about, perhaps they had a sole bad experience. No need to disregard Mikado, though! I love this place. Always great/fresh sushi, knowledgeable and kind itamaes and kind wait staff.

Sit at the bar and ask the itamae for suggestions!

By far the best sushi in town. Their otoro, sweet shrimp, Kumamoto oysters are so fresh. And Joey's recommendations on what is freshest on a given night are always very helpful.  For instance, the scallops he recommended on Wednesday were so sweet, so fresh!  Friendly servers and good service.

poor service and the manager is a jerk. the sushi is way overpriced for an old strip mall joint. there are plenty of other places like sushibar and domo.

Unfortunately my wife and I both yelp so you kind of get two thumbs down as it were.

Same with here i thought frat kids were annoying and over catered.   Didn't want to sit on top of the only other people in the whole dang place.  I am sure you felt like you could count your ducks in a row when you do that, but as the customer we're your boss not vice versa, and while I don't care about chopsticks as much as Erin, for a 120 dollar bill you can give me 2 dollar chopsticks.

Having tried another sushi restaurant in Bloomington, near 3rd and Jordan, I was beginning to think that it was just not possible to get decent sushi in this town. Mikado, however, removed my doubts. I am very glad I found this place!

The sushi was pretty fresh, and the soba was delicious. The atmosphere left something to be desired, and the wait-service was a bit ho-hum. Otherwise, a good local sushi spot. There's plenty of parking as it is part of the mall, though away from the main buildings.

Go to Mikado for decent sushi, but don't expect a high dining experience.

The sushi was NOT good and the service was even worse.  How's that for a combo!  Too bad Yelp doesn't allow 0 stars because this joint isn't even worth 1 star.

Not only was our waitress completely rude, the other employees acted as if they were annoyed we were there.  I should have known better when I saw Mikado is located in a strip mall.  If you're looking for sushi in Bloomington, go to Domo's.

Hands down, the best sushi in Bloomington. My aunt and uncle who have been here 30 years agree, and I won't even go anywhere else now.

Favorite appetizer: veggie tempura - lightly battered, crisp, yet not heavy. Delicious.

The specialty sushi rolls are amazing. The unagi roll is my favorite, unless a chef's special has eel in it, then that is my favorite! It's a little bit more expensive then some other places in town, but in my opinion, well worth the few extra dollars for top quality sushi. Also, try their location in downtown Indianapolis.
