I'm from Chi and so happy to discover this place with amazing brats and beer. We went here before the Paul McCartney concert on Tuesday and loved what we ordered. We sat outside which was hot, but pleasant enough. All the staff was friendly. Could tell this place has a great ambiance!! Honestly, a brat served on a pretzel roll, I cant complain!

I came here with the family for an afternoon lunch on the 4th of July and overall, we had a great time. We wanted to sit outside because the weather was perfect, but all the tables were taken so we had to settle for the inside. It was kinda dark, the longer booth table that we had was a little hard to sit on but it had that cool, pub feel to it making us feel like we could be in Germany or something. They had these mini hanging lights that gave us light over the table but it was kind of hard reading the menu. Anyways, the service was just okay, it took a while for the girl to come take our drink order and then our pretzel order until finally our actual meal so definitely come here for a relaxed atmosphere because no one is going to rush you out the door, that's for sure.

Now onto the important part. We had to get the giant pretzel, it was huge, the menu said $10 but we were charged $12 but either way, it's worth it. We shared it with 6 people and everyone got themselves a huge chunk. The cheese served with it is way better than the mustard. The mustard is on the tangy side, but it could use a little more honey in my opinion, the cheese was excellent and fatty, make sure to get extra of it. The beers they had on tap were good and cheap, so the family was happy with them. From the yelp pics and I mean the place is called a Brat House so we all got the brats. I got mine was just sour kraut and it was delicious, everyone else was a little more adventurous and did the roasted red peppers and the sauteed onions and even the spicy jalapeno spread. I have to say the brat itself was a little bland, but the sour kraut added the necessary tanginess to it, plus ketchup and mustard went a long way. It was also served on a pretzel roll but it wasn't as fresh as the actual giant pretzel.

Overall, the service was just alright, the pretzel rocked our world and the brats hit the spot but could have been a little more flavorful. Definitely a place worth checking out, but if the weather is great, sit outside.

Stopped in here one gloomy afternoon for lunch. The place has a dive bar feel, but in a good sense. I had the Italian Brat and beer cheese soup. Both were excellent! Very reasonably priced and friendly wait staff. I would definitely go back again.

The star rating is solely due to the cleanliness of this establishment.  I ordered a boring Coor Light bottle and headed back to the restroom.  In my short tour of this bar, I witness the grossest kitchen.  Deep friers were caked in black grime.  Floor = disgusting.  Onto the restroom, there was a huge hole in the ladies room.  Ointment cream sitting on the sink.  Floors so dirty that I was thankful to be wearing closed toed shoes. Upon my return from the restroom, I promptly left leaving my 3/4 full bar sitting on the table.

I hate rating this bar so low, scroll over my reviews, I have very few low scores.  The bar staff was very friendly and quick to service.  Brat House would make a great candidate for Bar Rescue.

My friends and I went there in June and had a FANTASTIC late lunch!  Waitress and bartender was great, food was perfect, and the beer was flowing.  When you order a draft, you get two mugs.  Approximately 16 ounces between the two beers, but who is counting?  Everyone's food was perfect, and prices were VERY reasonable.  Ill go back to the Brat House next time Im in Milwaukee!

What a blast!  My buddies have been coming up to this bar for the past few years.  This year they brought me along for the ride, and it was well worth it.  The Brat House is a blast!  The food is fantastic (You HAVE to get the giant pretzel, its amazing), the drinks are cheap, and the bartenders are the best I've found in a long time.  Sam and Pete both go out of their way to make sure you're having a great time.  Ask either of them to play dice, and be ready to take shots.  Speaking of shots - Try the lunch box!  Its half manmosa half Dr. Pepper shot - well worth it!  Oh yeah - if you're heading to Miller Park, they even have a free shuttle to and from the ballpark, and with Dick driving, the party will begin before you ever get to the park.

This place was awesome. My friend and I had a late lunch here during happy hour on a Monday afternoon before we went over to Miller Park to see the A's/Brewers game.

Tons of beers on tap and a huge selection of sausages of course. I had a bratwurst that was super tasty and the best part had to have been the bun it came in, which was basically a soft pretzel hot dog bun. Truly amazing.

And this place was super cheap, too. I think they forgot to charge us for our drinks or something because our bill was only $14. Maybe had something to do with happy hour? I don't know, but we just left a $20 and didn't ask any questions.

We also ran into some other A's fans there that were also in town for the series.

Next time I'm in Milwaukee I will be back and I want to try the gigantic pretzel they make.

This place has an interesting feel to it. Even at 3:00 in the afternoon with bright sun shining, there was a dive bar vibe going on here. I was tempted to sit at one of the outside tables, but we wandered inside instead and found a booth towards the back.

Not many people in there and only a waitress plus the cook. Still, we stuck around, ordered a beer (you get two because they are in such small mugs) and a brat. I went with the Miltown, which has cheese (it's Wisconsin, yo!) and grilled onions. On the side, potato salad. I was hoping the salad would be something like German potato salad, which is made with more vinegar than mayonnaise, but it was not to be. The brats were cooked to order (we could see into the kitchen) and brought out piping hot. Cheesy, greasy, meaty goodness. Decent size (maybe a little short) with a nice grilling on it.

I was concerned that one wouldn't be enough, but it was.

On a warm sunny day (good luck!), sit outside and watch the traffic go past.

Before I start my review, I have to mention that I did not get a brat at Milwaukee Brat House.  I know, I know.  Reason being, I had one the night before and another the same day at the Brewers game.  I was kind of maxed out.

BUT, I did have the cheese curds as I was told that was a must-have in Milwaukee.  We had some cheese curds the day before from a cheese shop and it was not good.  However, at Milwaukee Brat House, the cheese curds (breaded and fried with a ranch dipping sauce) were really tasty.  It reminded me of mozarella cheese sticks.

The crowd was diverse--young college kids, older 30-somethings, and a few 60 year old people.  This cute old man was having a brat at the bar while watching the Dodgers/SF Giants game.

Service was super friendly (this was my experience all over Milwaukee).  There are also tons of TVs playing every single sports game you can imagine.

Happy hour 2 for 1 beers and the best Brat I've had~!!  Although I'm not from Milwaukee so who knows what my standards are...  But a totally awesome dive bar with solid brats and apparently a bus that takes people there.  Worth the trip if you're not a clean freak or hate dive bars.

We first came to Milwaukee 3 years ago for a baseball game. The Brat House was close to the hotel and had the free shuttles to the games. Once inside we loved the bar, the food, and especially the staff. We have been back 3 years in a row now. The food is great and there is a great special or activity to do almost nightly. The many TVs that have sports on. The best are the brats and the cheese curds. Many thanks to Scott, Sam and the rest of the staff. We will be back next year.

Back in Milwaukee for business. Frequently come to Milwaukee on business and stay at the Hyatt and visit the bars around the area. Stopped in for happy hour and had a great brat. Bartender told me that they had a free shuttle to the Brewers game. Had nothing going on and was in town only for the night. Had a blast. Bar had a great feel to it. Took shuttle to and from game and worked out perfectly. What a great concept. Also serve food late which is nice to know next time in town and finish up late and need to grab a bite to eat. Great service! Will be back!

Place is a lot more than just Pull Tabs.

I have since branched out to more than just the "Milltown" (it's still a classic though).  The Cajun or Buffalo chicken are both excellently prepared.  The baked beans and potato salad I almost always have to get an extra side of, they're amazing.

Like the famous old Irish bar in New York, McSorely's Old Ale House, they serve you two mugs of beer when you order one (or really punish your liver and get the very large glass mug).

Service is down-home friendly (got a free hug from Liz before a Bucks game on Sunday).  Even being younger folks, you can tell they care about your experience there, be it before noon (don't judge!) or at 11pm.

    As dark as a catacomb.

    My favorite bar/restaurant in Milwaukee.

Fun pub...very good bar food; love their brats and the big pretzel is great.  Asked the bar tender to kick up the mustard a notch for the pretzel and he did. Think they added some jalapeño juice to their spicy brown mustard, not bad. I liked it better than the cheese sauce which came with the pretzel.  Enjoyed the atmosphere, slightly younger crowd than this old geezer but still had a great time.

Maybe it's just me, but when you included the words "brat house" in your restaurant name I would expect all kinds of sausage to be available on the menu and not just 5 of the same brats with different toppings. This pace is located next to Usingers for godsakes!

The $9 price tag is a little steep for a Brat with a few toppings and one side.  The taste was fine, but nothing spectacular.

The only saving grace about this place was that when my husband ordered a beer they handed him two.

Stopped here on a recent night on the town in Milwaukee.  They had a special 2 for 1 on Spotted Cows which was all I needed to know.  Don't know how the food was, but the drinks would be worth coming back for - especially if you are a poor college student.

Dunno what people think is so special about this place. The beer selection isn't extensive or exclusive; just some Spaten, Lake Front and a few others.

I got the German Style and shared a combination platter (cheese curds, onion rings, French fries, chicken strips). Everything was pretty run of the mill. Not great and not bad. Probably wouldn't go back if I was in town

Ordered: sausage sampler and cheese curds

Ambiance: pretty small narrow bar but plenty of TVs lining the walls and friendly staff. Parking was a pain but hey it's downtown.

Food: A great place when you're in the mood for sausage ;) the sampler is a great deal because you get a bratwurst topped with perfectly sauted onions, an italian sausage covered with marinara sauce with red peppers and a polish served with sautéed mushrooms. This is all topped with a small pretzel bun for less than 10 bucks but a single sausage on a bun with a side is $7. The brat was my favorite being very flavorful, juicy, and spicy. The Italian was good but I could have gone for a little more spice and more prominent herb/seasoning. The polish was my least favorite being a little chewy and tasting more like a hot-dog but with a very good meaty flavor. The pretzel was just a touch cardboard-y in texture but had a decent flavor, i would like a soft breadier interior. The cheese curds are delicious like everyone says - warm, slightly chewy (weird when you think cheese but expected because its you g unpressed cheese and is supposed to be springy), fried, salty and served with ranch, how can you go wrong.

Overall I enjoyed my meal very much and would definitely come back for another brat with onions and a order of fried cheese curds. The Italian and polish are decent but I've had better elsewhere. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

2 for 1 beers, yummy fried cheese curds, free entertainment from watching 3 girls slip and fall (don't worry they're fine - that's why it's funny) on the slippery spot in front of our table, 2 rounds of drinks for the price of 1 since the waitress didn't take out ticket out of the system and the bartender poured twice as many.

    A win overall.

Went here for lunch while in town for an Admirals/Wolves game.  The pics looked great and we were looking forward to some good Wisconsin brats.  We were not disappointed in the brats.  We ordered the big pretzel and each ordered a brat with tater tots.  I got the Miltown brat with a side of sauerkraut, which was great, they were generous with the toppings and it was hard to keep everything on the bun.  They boyfriend ordered a brat with cheese and bacon and he enjoyed it as well.  The service was fine but our only gripe was that the big pretzel came out only a couple of minutes before our food.  It took about 15-20 mins to get the pretzel and the food came right after, it would've been so much better to get the pretzel (which was really good) a few mins earlier, or have gotten the food a few minutes later.

This is a pet peeve of mine with restaurants but it shouldn't stop you from going here to eat, the brats are great.

    SCHLITZ ON TAP!!

Cool bar with cool bartenders.  Cheap beer.  Brats are good.  I discovered during my first trip to Wisconsin that I do not like cheese curds, I think they're weird...but people seem to like them a lot here.

My wife and I were in town for a night to see a show at Summerfest in late June.  We know how to start our trips off right and in doing so we drove straight to the "Lake Front Brewery" and did a tour and enjoyed a few brews.  The brewery gives you a coupon card for a free pint at a slough of different participating watering holes and this place was one of them.  Before even checking into our hotel we went to the Milwaukee Brat House and redeemed our free pint (actually pints - it was 3 for 1 time!...yes, I said 3 for 1!).  We ended up getting an appetizer pretzel (which was the size of a small child) and unfortunately didn't have room for one of their brats.

Best part of the Milwaukee Brat House discovery was realizing it was across the street from our hotel and they had a free shuttle going to Summerfest!  Everyone working here was great and extremely friendly.  I can't wait to go back.

We came up from Chicago to visit, going to a brewers game.  We stayed at the Aloft and was told Milwaukee brat house had a trolley to the game.  We went there to have. Beer prior to the game and catch the trolley.

We started off w a pitcher of spotted Cow which  was good then ordered the pretzel. It was 20 minutes later and still no pretzel. A guy came up and asked what's up... He said there was a group of 50 they were serving and ended up giving us free beers bc are order was behind.  Btw best pretzel hands down! Totally worth the wait.

Seems like a great bar to hang at and have some drinks really enjoyed our time!

I ordered the "loaded" sausage sandwich, which was just averageish in taste. However, the people I ate with ordered a sausage platter which was exceptional.

Beers are well priced with a large variety of domestic and import (they have Smithwyck's on tap, which is very rare!) and prices are excellent across the board.

Throw in a great ambience, good service and free shuttle rides to Brewer Park, and you have a place that is definitely worth visiting!

It might've taken a few years off of my life, but it was worth it!!  The most delicious pretzel ever!  Dipped in warm cheese.  Heaven!  And that Brat with the cheese, mushroom and onions on pretzel bread!
Sexy, sweet waitress... cool setting. I have to hit the treadmill for a month, but I was so glad I chose this spot for my only night in Milwaukee.

    Sunday's are fun days
Live music and brats plus 2 beers for the price of 1 and seating on the sidewalk

so we live in Chicago and since it's only a short ride north it was time to come to the Brat House my Barber has been telling be about the Tater Tots with Cheese and Bacon and believe me you they alone were worth the ride north but next time I will skip the diced tomatoes on mine thank you

so we got there right about 6pm found parking on the street right in front and don't have to feed the meter after 6pm on Sundays so free parking score started out good
I look across the street and see Usinger's Sausage so have to take a picture of that and Tag a buddy in Seattle that is from Milwaukee just to be a tease

damn we got here too late all the outside tables are taken and one couple waiting already so we say oh well we'll sit inside, just as we start to check out the menu the guy up front starts to sing not too loud and has a good voice

the girl comes over and we order a beer each and she brings us 2 each Sundays 2 for 1 good deal, I got the Brat Fully Loaded it comes with the works Kraut, Mushrooms, Onions, Gardenia, and bell Peppers  and if you order this one ask for extra napkins before it comes and plan on a trip to wash your hands afterwords as it is loaded with yummy goodness almost a little too much but that didn't stop me from finishing it off

we then headed across the street to the River walk to work some of the food off and let the beer settle before getting back on the Motorcycle

this is a must stop if you are gonna be in Milwaukee we will be back sooner than we think

We didn't expect to eat/drink in Milwaukee as my friend and I flew in from opposites side of the US (West Cost/East Coast), landed in Chicago, then hopped a rental to go see the Cirque Show @ the Bradley Center (makes sense, I know).

Well, a funny thing happened on the way to the forum. As we tried to leave BC, we couldn't because the wait to get out was too long. Luckily a nice stranger (they actually talk to you in the Midwest! And friendly! Who wudda thunk it?!) mentioned there were some nice pubs around the corner.

We made our way to the Brat house and immediately liked it. Cool staff, and the drinks were affordable and nice. Hungry as well we got some cheese curds which were the ishhhhhhh.

    Then we ordered a pretzel.

Oh pretzel. The bartender warned it was huge, and I'm like pfft. It wasn't huge it was MASSIVE. We were like WTF?! Couldn't finish it but did end up as breakfast the next day.

I was looking for a non-trendy local joint while on a business trip to Milwaukee. While the food (brat and tots) was quite forgettable, the beer was cold and the banter and service was friendly. On Sunday night I was there they serve you two regular size beer mugs when every you order a tap beer. I also had a shot of good Irish whiskey with the bartender and some other patrons.
Bottom line - it's a good place to bend an elbow.

This is a bar.  Nothing wrong with that, nothing at all.  but this is a full on bar.  We stopped in here for a quick bite before the St. Patrick's Day parade and I thought it would be more of a restaurant/bar but no this is a bar.  We had our 6 year old daughter with us and at first I thought we should leave but soon we noticed a lot of other kids with their parents.  We stayed.  I'm glad we did.  The brat was great.  It came on a really tasty pretzel roll.  The staff was very busy but friendly enough.  The beers were good and not too expensive.  They serve their draft beer in two smaller mugs, odd.  I was thrown off thinking I had accidentally ordered two beers (possible for me).
Overall this was a decent place.  Not somewhere I would take my daughter again but somewhere I would go the next time I'm in Milwaukee.

Solid.    I mean, simple, obvious, and reasonably well executed.

No one is going to call this place their favorite or drag out of towners here to hang out at this bar that "you must see."   But, the food is good, the bar is fun and well operated and the prices are super reasonable.

The beer selection is large and every time I have been here they have had some crazy good special on some tap beer.

I have enjoyed both the burgers and the brats here.

Service was great, they were quick to accommodate the large group I was with.

Huge Movie projector type TV...great for watching games!

My wife and I visited the Milwaukee Brat House for a lunch while visiting Milwaukee for the weekend.  From the moment we walked in, I had high expectations.  It has a great atmosphere and is everything that a brat house should be.

I started with a Lakefront IPA, which was refreshing.  For my meal, I ordered the Milton brat w/kraut & tater tots.  The brat was good, and I loved the pretzel bun.  What I did not like is that the cheese on the brat was nacho cheese.  When you are in Wisconsin and the menu says "cheddar cheese" on the brat, you do not expect fake nacho cheese.  The tater tots, which were said to be excellent, were your run of the mill frozen tots.

Our server was friendly, and we had a good time overall.  The best part about the Milwaukee Brat House is the atmosphere and the pretzel buns.

It's not outside the realm of possibility that sometimes, you'll want to rent a boat from Riverwalk Boat Rental and Tours. While cruising around on said boat, you'll probably be drinking a bit of beer. After returning said boat to Pere Marquette Park (and drinking said beer!), you and your friends may be a bit hungry. You may want to walk to a place to get a food.

THE MILWAUKEE BRAT HOUSE is across the street.

Buck Bradley's may have the largest bar this side of the Mississippi, and the Old German Beer Hall may look all clean and inviting (or maybe not, according to my friends), but the good ol' Brat House is right there. And guess what? I'm glad.

I've been to here a total of two times, and each time I've enjoyed myself. Why?

    +
*Well done bar food. Spicy brats and brats with bacon but also turkey club sandwiches and wraps and chicken fingers. (Chickens don't have fingers!)
    *Pretty solid beer selection.
*Big, fat Christmas lights hanging behind the bar. (Seriously, if you hang those big ol' lights anywhere, on anything, I would probably love it.)
*When the owner screams "Does anyone want to hear anything in specific?" and I yell "Hall and Oates!" it gets played.
*Could be an awesome place to watch the Packers (or Brewers, if you're into baseball. I'm not.)

    -
*Service was really, really spotty to the point of hilarity. I should probably take more points off for this, but for some reason, I still really like this place and won't give them less than four stars.

Most people that know me may be surprised that I would like a place like this. I don't know. It just feels right. Beer + those Christmas lights + Hall and Oates = four stars, easy.

We sat at the bar one Saturday night, and had a real good time. We were there around 8pm, and while the place wasn't full of patrons there was a definite buzz.
My wife and I split the sausage sampler and a salad. The sampler consisted of bratwurst, kielbasa, and Italian sausage served on a bed of grilled onions, mushrooms, and sauerkraut. The sausages had a good flavor, but the marinara served on the Italian was bland, and the mushrooms were a bit too oily. The salad was nice and fresh.
Good selection of beers. I imagine the taps rotate so there's no point to go over list.
Each of the three bartenders checked on us to make sure we liked our food. We appreciated the attention.

Parking is a nuisance. Just pay to park in a lot.

After a big breakfast followed by an extra innings Brewers game, we just wanted to sit somewhere and relax. The Milwaukee Brat House fit the bill. The Brat House is downtown and we had some trouble finding parking, thanks to the UFC fight that was going on.

Once we got in and seated, I enjoyed some Lakefront Dark beer, served in two 8-10 oz glasses. I asked the waitress why I got two and she said they serve all their draft beers in twos. We split some fried cheese curds (the only time we had curds in milwaukee and they were great) and each had a brat. They are served on pretzel rolls (basically a giant pretzel split in two). While they tasted good, they didn't hold up very well, splitting into two pieces at the first bite.

Overall, we had a good time at the Brat House. It is a nice little bar to grab a beer and brat.

Cheese, beer and brats! Who doesn't love that? The Milwaukee Brat House hits on all points.

After hitting the Harley museum, we were hungry. Thanks to Yelp and typing in "beer," the Brat House was first on the list. We came in on a Saturday afternoon. I was expecting the place to be packed but it was kinda quiet. Within minutes of sitting down, the waitress had already taken our drink order. Btw, two PBR for $3 was a steal!!!

We tried the cheese curds as an appetizer. Now I never had curds so I didn't know what to expect. I'm thinking gooey mess but these things were yummy. Not greasy or burned, just delicious cheesy-ness. Plus you get a ton of them in a basket. So that helped prevent a potential fist fight between me, mom and my friend.

I ordered the German style brat with kraut, onion on a pretzel roll and served with a side of baked beans. Delicious on all accounts! Add some spicy brown mustard and I was in heaven. I also sneaked a taste of mom's potato salad and that also was outstanding.

The service was good and the waitress was very attentive. The food was out quickly and gobbled up by us in no time. Definitely a stop for me the next time I'm in Milwaukee.

Given the culinary and historical tour that is Old World Third, it would make sense that there would be a place serving up Milwaukee's third-favorite foodstuff - brats - along with Milwaukee's first-favorite, beer. I mean, given the proximity to Usinger's and the Cheese Mart, it would have to be either the Milwaukee Brat House or the Milwaukee Cheese House, and - try as I might - you can't build a meal out of cheese.

It's as much bar as restaurant, but there's still a devotion to the city, with Milwaukee beer, cheese, or brats making a presence in nearly every dish. I started with the cheese in a cheese soup, a kinda thin concoction that had a larger chicken broth component than cheese, but with a nice consistency and bits of tomato, carrots, and I think even a couple of bits of brat floating around in there. The little plastic soup spoon wasn't cutting it - I just put the bowl to my lips and drank.

Clearly I would order the brat, and one that was fully loaded, to boot, with a mound of sauerkraut and giardennia and mushrooms was a mouthul, but I managed to make it work. The pretzel roll on which the brat was served was an awesome choice, and it held up to the bevy of flavor from the toppings, brat, and mustard. The same could not be said for the zesty fries, which were normal freezer fodder, but I liked them with a bit of Stadium Sauce on top.

I got to try the baked beans, which were ordinary but made quite a bit better by the inclusion of plenty of brat. I noticed the sausage popping up in other places, too, like a burger, which is probably something unique for the area. Milwaukee Brat House is, without a doubt, full of sausage lovers, and it makes for some above-average bar food that holds its own in an area of the city that has quite a bit of culinary history.

We decided on having a true Wisconsin dinner on a late Sunday night...meaning local brew, thick brats and fried cheese curds.

    The Lowdown:
Beer: 2 for $4! (don't expect a full pint glass though)
    Brats on pretzel bread:
-Spicy brat: not bad w/ a lot of spicy toppings
      -Polish: on point
    Fried Shiz:
      -Onion rings: yum
      -Fries: yum
-Cheese curds: huge appetizer and nicely crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside

Service was friendly though a bit unattentive. The bartenders kept up with the busy pace. Live music that night was fun and entertaining. The crowd ranged from college kids to 60 yr olds. The free pulled pork sandwiches they had available was bomb (shout out to the dude who made the wicked homemade BBQ sauce.)

Tips: (previous Yelpers steered us wrong with their reviews)
-you canNOT get curds as a side to your brats - just as an app
-There is no Sunday special that's $7 for brat +side + beer
-They've got a back outdoor patio with a separate bar

Need to keep myself from coming back too often b/c if I keep having "Milwaukee dinners" I'll be 400 lbs and rolling down the 94 to get to this joint.
