When I first tried Mollys a few years ago I wasn't too impressed with the food but lately I've been trying a few different things and they're great! The balsamic steak flatbread is so good and so is the cod sandwich. As far as beer goes they have a good selection, pretty close price-wise with the surrounding bars. The staff is also very friendly. Weekends get pretty crowed but still only takes a few minutes to get a drink. Overall a fun place to go sit outside and have a drink or dace to the live bands on the weekends.
Review Source:This is a great spot to drink and it has that Old Irish Bar feel. Â To be honest, I eat before I go there because the food just isn't good (and I eat anything!). Â I've gone there a ton of times with friends and they'll usually order appys and really, they aren't good. Â So go there to drink and have a great time, but grab a pizza before or after.
Review Source:Great pub food!
GREAT burger, great fries, just great!
For a burger and a beer, or two, or six... this is your place.
If you fancy dining al fresco, there is a covered patio on the second floor. It's just lovely! I suggest this over the patio on the street. Exhaust and noise will accompany your dinner out there.
Quizzo on Wednesday nights at 9. Fun times with a group of friends!
Very little vegan food (and it can be done, see the Honey Underground which hosts a vegan Irish buffet for St. Patrick's Day), but great atmosphere and friendly staff. I always seem to notice the gorgeous fabrics and design details in this 3-location mini-chain. Â Loud Irish music plays, which has to get to the staff after a while, but I found it charming. Â Many cute spots to hide out. Check out the 5-6 person table in what looks like a small room past the bar. I want to sit there! They have some impressive Irish whiskys, Midleton! Â This building used to be a pharmacy.
Review Source:I've been here a couple times, and while it's a great place to get drinks, I've not found that the food measures up to the atmosphere. Â This time I was there for Sunday brunch. Â Again, mediocre food, but we sat outside on the upstairs deck, and had a great time. Â That's worth the whole 3 stars right there. Â Part of the problem with the food may have been that we arrived there at the tail end of the brunch. Â So, much of the food on the buffet had been sitting around for a while. Â Had we arrived towards the beginning of brunch, the food may have tasted much better. Â Brunch is also not cheap, $17.95 a person, but it does include prime rib which most likely drives up the price. Â There is a good assortment of food on there, and they have an omelet station where they make fresh omelets for you, so they have that part of the buffet covered well. Â They also have specials on mimosas and bloody marys if you're into either of those drinks. Â The service was ok, but not outstanding. Â We were seated away from most everyone else though, so that was a factor. Â If I were to go back here again for brunch, I would make sure I got here earlier in the day to have better quality of food.
Review Source:I've been here multiple times both during the day to dine and at night for the more bar experience. All times have been good experiences. The servers/bartenders are nice and the food is good. They have a typical bar selection. The pub is Irish-themed, obviously, and has multiple floors with a rather wide, eye-pleasing layout. There are live bands on the weekend which is quite fun. Every time I've eaten here the food has been good and they have a surprisingly large menu for a "bar menu".
Review Source:In Phoenixville for the night, so we decided to walk around and try some other local haunts. Â Two different people at our restaurant recommended Molly's, so we stopped in.
Traditional Cookie-cutter "Irish" bar, it looks familiar when you walk in, although it's a little brighter than these types of bars usually are.
The Pretzel was all garlic, no salt. It needed sometypemof spicey mustard, but it comes with a bland melted cheese and a ranch dressing. Â Neither went well with the flavors of the overseasoned pretzel.
We happened to be there for Bingo night and most of the bar was participating. Â Other patrons around us all made it a point to say something to us and we soon we feeling like a local.
If you're in town, it's a friendly place to grab a drink and be apart of smalltown USA...just make sure you grab dinner up the street first.
They still get an A+ from me on the theme and set up of the establishment. Â It is very unique and has proved to be an excellent venue for live entertainment in Phoenixville.
I recently had their brunch buffet and it was OK. Â For the price, I've had other bottomless buffets that were of a better. Â In terms of content, they have one of the largest brunch selections I've seen. In terms of quality items are hit or miss. Â The selection is reflected in the price of $18, much higher than many other bottomless brunches I've visited. Â I've been to comparable brunches for $12 a person with comparable and on some items, higher quality.
If you've read my reviews on breakfasts, eggs benedict is among my favorite breakfast foods. They offer this item with their brunch, but the eggs are not runny like you'd expect with a normal eggs benedict. Â The bacon was not crisp when I visited, so is better if you like soft bacon.
If you do stop in, I recommend the mac and cheese. Â You can also make your own omelet, get a selection of 2 meats at the meat station, and they offer a warm dessert item (it was apple crisp when we visited). Â Other items in their selection include scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, garlic mashed potatoes, among other things.
You can also purchase a mimosa or Bloody Mary with brunch. Â They are on special. Â The Bloody Mary also comes with the option to add your own contents, which is especially good if you like to load them with spice.
From the brunches I've been to this is an average quality bottomless brunch at a high price point.
I had a great dinner with a friend here the other night. It was my first time there and I plan to come back. The food was great quality for the price. Portions were very generous and everything seemed fresh. The service was friendly and it was a nice authentic Irish atmosphere.
My favorite thing was the Irish Nachos - waffle fries loaded with cheese, ham and tomatoes. The position was very generous for the appetizer. Perfect for a large group to share.
Next time I got back I will try their beer selections! They have many beers on tap.
The beer is a little on the pricey side, but I love the atmosphere. I was always a fan of Kildaire's, so it's cool that even though they continue to fold up, Molly's flourishes. It has become a valued member of the Phoenixville community.
The food, if you're a fan of Irish cuisine, is also pretty good. I'd recommend the Irish stew. Very tender and full of flavor.
The service, also pretty good. I hardly wait too too long for a beer. EVEN on a weekend.
Also, lovers of live music, this is your spot. They usually have some pretty talented bands for no cover. Great party scene.
If you are looking for a great outdoor seating option, this is the place. Â It is isolated enough to keep the fumes of traffic and the noses of dogs passing by out of your food, yet you still feel part of the on street action. Â I've been here for quiet dates and loud nights out and it is equally suitable for both.
Review Source:Went there for lunch one day and was pretty disappointed. Â I tried the Scotch Eggs as an appetizer and they were really good. Â I wasn't too sure what to expect as I never heard of such a thing before but in the end I was impressed. Â As my main dish I decided to order the Braised Steak and Guinness Pie. Â It was out of this world and it was a huge portion. Â I could barely finish it. Â The also had a few good beers on tap. Â The food/drink side of things was good. Â
The bad review comes because of the service. Â If I remember correctly my visit was during the middle of the week at around 1:30 or so. Â The place was empty but the service was the worst. Â It took forever to get our drinks and place our order and the food took forever to arrive. Â After it did arrive the waitress disappeared as well and then it took forever to get the check when we were finished. Â I will definitely not be going back to this place because of the service alone. Â There was only one other table occupied and only one or two people at the bar so they definitely weren't too busy to provide good service.
Stopped in Friday after my daughters dance recital. Â Started with the Irish nachos, waffle fries with cheese, ham, tomatoes with buffalo sour cream. Â Really crispy and hot fries, tomatoes were really good. Â Cheese got the fries a little soggy after sitting for a few minutes but really good. Â I had the fish and chips. Â Awesome, crisp but not greasy, great tartar sauce. Â Not a big fan of the chips, no flavor and a little too done. Â My wife had the cod sandwich. Â Fish was good but the bun was enormous, too big for the fish. Â My daughter had the Molly burger. Â Pretty good but she filled up on the Irish nachos. Â Overall was good, would like to come back for more fun.
Review Source:I was here the other week for dinner with a friend upon his recommendation and I was glad I listened. Â We sat outside which was great and had a fun time people watching although at times the large trucks and motorcycles were a bit too loud. Â I ordered the Fish and Chips and loved it! Â The fish was moist and stuck to the breading well full of flavor and their house made tartar sauce was superb. Â The chips were also wonderful and had a great flavor to them but there were too many! Â Never thought I would say that but I think I got about .5-.75lbs of potatoes and I couldn't finish it! Â They were delicious but again too many and no person needs that much fried potato. Â My friend got the Molly Burger which he raved about and it sure looked good. Â The menu was small and featured a lot of great pub food and Irish food as well I definitely want to go back here again and try some more of their food!
Overall great job M.M. just maybe cut back on the portion size and the cost in that way!
This place is the anti-thesis  of pj ryan's, and I love it. Live music with no cover, like it should be. Slightly older crowd and way less knuckleheads just people trying to have a good time. Good food, great selection of beer, round bar with multiple bartenders. From what i know, authentic style irish pub decorations and very friendly attentive staff. No negatives in my book and really helped save my saturday St. patty's day pub crawl from being just average.
Review Source:Bf and I only stopped in for a couple drinks after dinner down the street. But we really liked the atmosphere. The guy at the door carded me, which I loved! I started with the Same Adams Alpine Spice. It was tasty at first, but I couldn't finish it. It was a little too heavy for me, so I switched over to a lighter beer.
The DJ started playing and was playing a lot of 80's dance music. It was awesome. The crowd was a little on the older side, which I didn't mind, but it wasn't going to be the place where we spend the remainder of our night out.
I would go back there again and would like to try the food next time.
Great for what it is- a college bar in a post college neighborhood.
I felt old at first glance, probably because I felt like I was in Kildares in West Chester back in 2003. It wasn't until the band started playing the Doobie Brothers that I realized everyone dancing was considerably older than I was.
I'm not gonna buck the trend with this review.
I've been to Molly's a few times and it's an ok place. Â I've eaten their food and basically it's just ok. Â There is nothing standout or stellar on the menu here. Â Their beer selection is also halfway decent but once again, not mind-blowing.
It seems to get pretty packed at night which can be a good thing. Â I know I've heard live music here a few times which is nice and I didn't pay a cover.
When I'm out in Phoenixville, I'm sure to stop in, but I'll never go to Phoenixville just to come here.
Molly Maguire's is an Irish pub in the quaint town of Phoenixville. To get to the general area, get in your car, start driving into the suburbs, and, when you think you've gone too far, keep going. (There, now  you don't have to set up your GPS for the trip.)
The atmosphere is pretty much like any of your fav Irish bars (New Deck, Brittingham's, Kildaire's, etc.), with an almost grandma's attic sort of feel to the furniture (which I love). We had a table with an upholstered bench on one side and some country-ish wooden chairs on the other. Also, the space looked pretty capacious. We got there at like 7pm on a Friday, and we were seated nearly immediately.
Their beer selection is actually really good. I was excited to see Boddington's on a draft list of probably 15 beers or so, and I followed that with a Guiness (when in Rome...er Dublin). They also had a creative mixed drink list with a drink called the "Pineapple Upside Down Cake." Everyone who tried the latter loved it.
The food was generally unremarkable except for a couple of highlights. I did encounter one of the most amazing culinary creations I've ever seen here: buffalo sour cream. No, it was not sour cream made from buffalo milk; rather it was buffalo wing flavored sour cream. Wow. It came with the nachos, and I later ordered more as a dipping sauce for my fries. Ridiculous. I would skip the mac and cheese. It was a little bland and a little pricey at $12. Another interesting note is that they seem to have at least three different cuts of fries for different contexts (the fish and chips came with different cuts than did the burger, etc.). All in all, the food was fine, but nothing remarkable (except that buffalo sour cream).
The service was a mite torpid, but the waitress was generally pleasant.
Summary: it might be worth the trek to Phoenixville, just once, for that buffalo sour cream, and maybe a Boddington's or two.
Finally made it out to Phoenixville, PA.  After years and years of living in Philly I  always thought of Phoenixville as a mythical land.....you heard about it occasionally yet had no idea to where it was located.  Turns out it is about an hour away from Philly, which, on a Friday night when you have nothing to do it is  the perfect outing.
Anyway, moving on...once we made it out there we decided to give this place a try....from the outside it looked very cushy and inviting. Â That warm feeling that drew us in was permeating throughout the dining room.....upholstered benches, fireplaces, and low lighting make this place very cozy and very pub-like. Â
I agree with most of the other reviewers in that this place is a great watering hole (plenty of microbrews on tap, nice cocktail menu).  We did eat dinner and the appetizers (potato pancakes, Irish nachos, and fried pickles) were much more substantial than my entree.  Unfortunately, the food fell sort of  flat....not much taste and under seasoned. Â
Be prepared to pay city type of prices for food and drinks,  wait staff was super efficient  (and super nice!) and the place is clean,  definitely has a great vibe to it.
This is a good restaurant, yes the portions are small but the portions are getting smaller everywhere now. Â Price is always too much everywhere, not just this place.
And it goes to show that people will post opinions usually only when they have a bad experience. Â Rarely do people jump on their computer and post a good review after a good dinner. Just keep on bitching....
I went here for the first time about 2 months ago and I've been here a second time since.
The interior has a classic pub look and feel to it. You can tell that the building has some history to it - many years back before it became a restaurant it was a drug store. The bar is two sided in that it wraps around to both sides of the dining area. They have outdoor seating on the sidewalk and a rooftop deck when weather permits which is really cool.
The menu is a 50/50 mix of Irish options like the Shepherd's Pie, Scotch Egg, Bangers and Mash, etc. and typical bar/tavern food. The food is fairly basic, i.e. nothing fancy or out of the ordinary going on here, but it's tasty enough and in good portions.
Service on my visits has been friendly and consistent.
Nothing exceptional to rave about here in my opinion but overall it's a nice Irish style pub to wet your whistle and get some eats.
I'm surprised a lot of people only gave Molly Maguire's one or two stars. Maybe it's because I like the atmosphere or maybe I've been here on good nights, but I like the place. When I get food, I usually stick to the shepherd's pie or fish and chips. They have most of the typical Irish beer on draft--Guinness, Harp, Murphy's, Smithwick's etc. No complaints about the service. All the servers I've had have been friendly. One of my friends also claim they have good wings, but I haven't tried them out yet. Next time!
Review Source:I'm with Lydia on this one. Â If you want a good meal then you'll be rolling the dice - Molly's is the definition of Hit or Miss. Â The beer selection is good, but I've noticed that the tap lines need to be cleaned (beer is tasting a bit cidery). Â Service can be spotty. Â Quizzo is popular w/ the locals. Â I usually just go to hang w/ friends and get schnockered.
Review Source:Been to Molly's multiple times since it's opening. Now that their are other options in Phoenixville it's a little less crowded which for customers is nicer since the place was a mob early on. Molly's is a nice middle of the road option as you get regular beers as opposed to micro brews from Iron Hill but also has a little older crowd than PJ Ryans gets. All in all it's got a great look to it as they did a great job with the decorations and the rooftop deck is sweet.
I haven't tried any of the food with the exceptions of the appetizers which were pretty good.
I've been to Molly's several times since it's opened. Â We go mostly for Quizo night which is held Wednesday evenings. Â It's a fun time testing your trivial knowledge and the host of Quizo is great fun as well. Â The bar itself is ok. Â The service is usually just fair, sometime you have to chase after them to get a drink order or your check. Â The food though is somewhat disappointing. Â We usually order chips and the sweet potato fries. Â For pub food it's fine. Â I've tried one of the Boxty's and was happy to give it away. Â Very, very dry and lacking flavor. Â I've had the Tilapia and that was decent but certainly not impressive. Â Bottom line is this place has a good atmosphere, they dropped a ton on the decor, but there are much better places to eat in Phoenixville.
Review Source:I definitely love that you can sit outside and enjoy the outdoors. Â Although it is on a busy corner traffic wise. Â I didn't really get a good look at the outside, but I love the wrought iron railings on the patio and deck upstairs. Â It made it feel a little more quaint. Â The food wasn't bad, but definitely typical pub food. Â Beer was OK. Â
I give this place four stars mainly for the atmosphere. Â While the food wasn't bad, it's very typical. Â I appreciate the ability to sit outside and people watch.
I've only been to Molly Maguire's once, but it was a good experience and I would certainly go back. Â I had their leek soup (very good stuff) and an above average hamburger and fries. Â We were seated quite quickly.
One drawback of this place was that it was LOUD. Â I mean, louder than most "bar and grill" type places. Â The Eagles game was on at the time, so there was no shortage of lugnuts screaming and yelling obscenities, real nice for my 2 year old to hear. Â The TV was turned up loud enough to create a base level of sound that is on par with "jet engine in a hurricane".
Hopefully that was an isolated instance and not the norm, I'll go back, just not during sporting events.
I agree with most of the reviews already posted for Molly Maguire's. Â I think some of the food is excellent - the Kilkenny Kracklin Chicken, the Irish Nachoes, and the buffalo wings, and some of the food is avearge and below, like the boxty selection which sounds amazing on the menu, but are made with really low quality ingredients (the cheeseburger boxty is loaded with cheap yellow mustard, and the buffalo boxty had poor quality chicken and buffalo sauce, which is disappointing considering how delicious their buffalo wings are) Â
The decor is really beautiful, but really disfunctional.  The benches don't fit the tables, and you usually have to move the table to fit in, then find you are too far from the table when seated.  Most tables on the first floor are cramped and feel as though they are misplaced. Â
But the real disappointment here is the service.  The servers have all been very nice, however they disappear for very long periods of time.  We have waited over 20 minutes for our orders to be taken, sat without drinks for extended periods, and even even finished an order of wings, before finally finding someone to request napkins from.   If they work on attentiveness, and fix a couple of the qaulity issues with some of the menu items, they will definitely earn 4 stars from me.
I have been here twice one for dinner upstairs, which was just horrible. It was too loud and the appetizers and food was aweful....oily and tasteless.
The next time I went with a large group for drinks and appetizers. This time the appetizers where much better. Love the black and tan and as David mentioned, their Guinness seems to be a bit special as well.
Parking can be tricky, even though there is a public lot right across the street.
I give Molly Macguire's Pub 4 stars because I love the atmosphere here and the great quality of their beer. Â This is a real Guinness served in a proper glass with the right nitro mix and necessary storing and serving temperatures to be certified by Guinness (that's right, there is a certified Guinness by Guinness and there are only a few locally). Â The food is good but it's the great atmosphere that makes this a 4 star. Â Best part is when you stumble out of the bar you can stumble up the road and stop in and say hello. Â Maybe we'll go grab some drinks!
Review Source:I've been here twice since it opened and neither time has really impressed me that much.
I've taken my girlfriend both times just to get some nice irish pub-style atmosphere, food and drink. They've got the atmosphere down. It's really a gorgeous place with nooks and crannies to really get comfortable in. And fireplaces too!
On the other hand, both times I've been there, I've been little more than disappointed in the food. I always aim for the good traditional stuff I've had over in the isles, but it always seems to fall short. Somehow I ended up with a boxty both times, and the potato wrap was great, but both times, the chicken was way overcooked and too dry. Also the lady got a shepherd pie that was really not as tasty as the ones across the pond that I've had. It was made out of hamburger instead of beef tips and just came across and mediocre quality for what you pay.
I would go here more if I had come for drinking and music, but I don't know what kind of music they play here. So if you're just going to eat there, skip it. If you're going to drink there, its probably pretty enjoyable.
