Just moved to this area and tried this place out. Nice ambience from what I saw; we carried out.  The food was VERY mild and a bit bland. This place is not for those who like flavorful foods that have a little spice. Not worth it for the money

Great food, choices are many. Try spinach in your fried brown rice...mmmm! Also try the pomegranate ginger ale, awesome!!!!
The layout is a bit crowded, cannot imagine a big person getting through on a busy day without bumping into chairs, tables, people! Please expand n make it more roomy.

I love this place.  But went there today for dinner.  All locked up and chairs put away.  And black covering all over the windows.  Looks like going out of bussiness.

I went here for the first time for lunch on a Monday, and got the potstickers for an appetizer (chicken are outstanding, but not a fan of the veggie), and then the coconut curry dish with chicken served over brown rice.  This dish was amazingly delicious.  The sauce was to die for, I wish I had the recipe.... it also had a little spice but not too much.  Will definitely be visiting again!

What a disppointment. Service was unorganized. They delivered two of our four meals without the beef or chicken that was part of the order. Inconsistent service and meal. Not for me.

Based on the generally positive Yelp reviews, I figured we'd give this place a shot.  The online menu seemed fairly predictable and the online ordering system is that imenu360 thing that a bunch of restaurants use.  I placed my order and assumed that when I arrived @ Moon Wok 20 minutes later, my food would be ready.

The guy who greeted me, a server, found a printout on the counter and he showed it to some guy in the kitchen area - they nervously looked over to me and I saw them key my order into the terminal.  The server guy came back and said "it'll just be a few more minutes".  My order obviusly hadn't been started but they wanted to make it seem like they were working on it to save face... no biggie, I'll wait.  Then, a lady came over and asked me if I was being helped - "I'm just waiting for my order - it looks like someone just forgot to prepare it".  She explained that it actually just came over a few moments ago and that's why my food wasn't ready... OK, whatever.  5 minutes later, they packaged my food and dumped some fortune cookies in my bag and I drove home.

It looked like someone tried to prepare all these dishes in a hurry because they obviously had.  The execution was lacking.  The flavors weren't offensive, but it looked pretty bad - seriously guys, I would've waited another 10 minutes.  I usually don't like to give these establishments a second chance, but I really want to like this place - next time, I'll phone in my order.

Well we gave this place two chances.  This will have been our last visit.  Service was slow and inattentive; the food was hit or miss.  One of the most annoying features of this restaurant is the spinning LED blinky sign in the center of the restaurant.  Maybe it will eventually drive someone into seizure and they'll have to remove it.  Highlights: We ordered the appetizer platter: the satay was room temperature and the coconut shrimp appeared overcooked on the outside, while the shrimp inside were chewy and translucent.  Undercooked because they threw them in straight from the freezer perhaps?  Unfortunately, I had already eaten a whole one thinking it was overcooked before realizing it was likely the opposite.  I hope to not have to update this review with the outcome.  When we mentioned the shrimp to the waiter, we didn't get an apology, but he was nice enough to offer to replace the shrimp or alternately a dessert.  Needless to say, we chose the dessert.

Great food for anyone - family, friends, sports watchers (watched the bears game) veggie, meat, etc.  They have great vegetarian options in fact I had the best veggie tempeh I've ever had.  I also had fresh ginger ale, made from scratch.  Kind of expensive but very good.  I did the stir fry bar and I had a ton great fresh vegetable options.  My sister had the Szechwan shrimp, she said it was spicy but very good.   I highly suggest, as I will be returning.

The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it was kind of expensive but that's expected in Glenview.

We have been here twice. Both times on a Sunday at 5:00 with Hubby and my mom. The first time it was empty, which was nice because we could hear my mom. The last time, it was almost full with young families. That was ok, but they seemed to need another wait person. Ours, who we had on the previous visit as well, is a great waiter. This time, he was just over loaded with tables.

We all love the food. Hubby had orange chicken. Mom and I went to the stir fry bar. We got to pick what we wanted and then used the green curry sauce. We actually came back this second time because my mom loves that sauce (me too).

After dinner, we walked next door to Red Mango for dessert. All in all, it was an enjoyable Sunday evening... Mom likes it too. It's a nice change from always going to Johnny's Kithen & Tap.

This place is my Mecca. The create your own stir fry is the jam. The abundance of fresh veggies, variety of tasty sauces and healthy lean meats make this one of my favorite meals in the area. Flat top who??? See ya FTG - Moon Wok is where its at.

we like this place and enjoy eating there.  obviously fresh ingredients, and you get what you want

we seem to almost always have some sort of extra item on our bill, i'm not sure what's going on with that.....

but we will keep going back, and just making sure to check our bill before  we leave.

I love this place! Their food is delicious and much cheaper than Flat Top or Stir Crazy. I love the environment - it's a nice place. It never gets too busy so I always get served on time. I've been there multiple times and will keep going back for more!

OK, so maybe it was my fault that I didn't come here for their stir-fry lunch special, but we were around the area after work and needed to eat something quick and delicious... YES, there is such a thing! :) When we stepped in to Moon Wok, the host guy deliberately waited around to say hello to us, until this group of women who were leaving, passed by him. After they walked out, THEN we were greeted. Something minor, but I noticed it and I didn't like that gesture at all.

So, we sat down, got our water, and had to wait for 10 minutes for our waitress to come and take our order. Then, another 30 minutes of waiting to get our food! THIRTY MINUTES! Now, I'd understand if this place was running busy like a farmer's market but yeeeeeah, that wasn't the case with this place. We ordered the Crispy Lemon Chicken and Chicken Claypot - my husband and I were *really* hungry and thus, a little bit irritated. What is taking them so long?!?!

When the food arrived, we took a bite and looked at each other with that "MEH" expression on our faces. NOT impressed at all. Nothing special about both dishes, nothing stood out. We asked for more chili because apparently, they couldn't really make their dishes as spicy as we requested (although the menu says "Just ask if you want it spicy!"). Now, this IS an Asian restaurant, no? ........ guess not, if you can't make my dishes spicy.

Another clue was that we were the only Asians there. I always believe that when I walk in to an Asian restaurant and Asian customers are nowhere to be seen, I should just TURN AROUND and walk away. This rings very true for Moon Wok. We'll never go back. I felt like my money could have gone to some other more deserving place.

I went there with a firiend tonight for the first time.  The serene atmosphere which  drives a lot of its patrons  was NO exception for   those who  like to indulge in my friends and our  delicious ethnic cravings  for Thai/Chinese cuisine.

I was in the mood for a Goulash or noodle based  peanut/thai DISH, and since this was my  first visit to this establishment I was surprised it had suited my needs.

Not the most stellar Asian food ever, but solid. Lots of organic and vegan choices, plus who can't find something that they like at a make your own stir fry? That being said, there were lots of menu choices if you are the indecisive type, and would rather just go with something that you know "works."  They also do homemade Ginger ale in several varieties, which although pricey, actually tastes like real ginger. Service was friendly and quick, plus prices were reasonable. No complaints, just not "OMG ITS SO GREAT YOU CANT MISS IT" good. If you are in the area, great.  Try it out. Drive across town? Meh, Stir Crazy or Big Bowl would do. Bonus is that Red Mango/Bini Bakery is right next door for yummy dessert.

Well... I had to try it.  I'm always at the Red Mango next door, but I never bothered to try eating at Moon Wok.

I went in with low expectations and after seeing the ceiling fan, it dropped down a little lower.  The ambiance isn't too bad, but it almost had a cheesy feeling to it for some reason, and I blame it mostly on the ceiling fan that writes out Moon Wok with flashing LEDs.

Despite the distractions, I'm always willing to be open to good food.  I chose something on the menu that seemed 'safe': the Thai Basil. Quote: "A Moon Wok specialty and staff favorite."  It seemed like a good choice at the time, and the when it came out, the presentation of the color peppers and vegetations seemed very appealing.  However, after a few bites, I'm sorry to say that I was right about my expectations.  There was absolutely nothing special about it.  I felt like I was simply bated by the description of the item, only to find out that possibly it might be the worst thing to order on the menu.  Who knows.. I could be wrong about the place had i tried something else.  But overall, I'm thoroughly unimpressed and I don't think I'd find myself going back any time soon.

I loved this place! I had dinner there with my husband and two children ages 7 and 3.  Both my boys loved their meals.  My oldest can be fussy, but he made his own stir fry and thought it was delicious.  I ordered the  clay pot Panang and thought it was so tasty.  I love all the options they have for vegans and vegetarians.  The veggies were really fresh.  The price was amazing - $41 for a family of four including the tip.  Our server was very good and attentive. Overall a great restaurant that we will be back to often.

My very first experience with this restaurant and I know for sure I will never go back. The food was greasy and tasteless. 30.00 of take out thrown in the garbage. I felt bad about wasting food but I simply could not bring myself to eat it. The pad thai was full of vegetables when I opened the container I was excited to dig in however once the first fork enteterd my mouth I was disgusted it was greasy and didn't have any taste and I bit into a big mound of chicken fat. Moved on to the fried rice which was terribly greasy and again flavorless. The chicken eggroll filling had flavor but the eggrolls  were not crisp at all just soggy and falling apart. I took the containers with the food still in them and dumped them in the trash. YUCK! Don't waste time or money on this place because its NOT worth it.

I recently held a ChicagoVeg meetup at Moon Wok and it was a hit!  Everyone loved the veg options and the managers/owners were very accommodating to our group.  I always feel I am warmly welcomed here.  As a vegan I am so happy at how many vegan options there are on the menu!  I prefer to make my own stir-fry dish with lots of veggies and tempeh.  If you are vegetarian and vegan, however, don't forget to ask them to cook your food using vegetable oil.  The portions are generous and the price is just right!  This is my favorite stir-fry restaurant!

Yes, I have experienced much better for this type of stir fry place. The pot stickers were tough and bland.  The chicken satay looked like pre-cooked chicken.  The stir fry entrees, while large, just do not make it as far as freshness and flavor.  Service,  is however, pretty good.

Would rate this 3 1/2 stars- can't call it a 4 star place but we all really like it.  The stir fry bar is what we always order- the veggies are always fresh with a great variety of sauces (my personal favorite is the korean bbq).  The food is always cooked quickly.  I agree with the past reviewer that it's way better and cheaper than Stir Crazy (have always thought that place was a rip off and not that good), although I really like the bread you can get at Flat Top.

They also have the most amazing donuts for dessert!  They are so crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.  They come with chocolate and caramel dipping sauces but you don't need them at all!  Yum.  My son has a dairy allergy so they make him cinnamon sugar won-tons since he cant have the donuts.  Very nice of them and very tasty (not to mention crazy bad for you!)

They have a really tacky fan in the center of the restaurant that i could do with out but other than than the decor is fine.

I grabbed a takeaway after coming home from a business trip and being too tired to cook. Pad Thai, pho, dumpling combo and crab rangoon were my menu choices.

The pad Thai was super tasty, light and not reminiscent of peanut butter (which is the tendency with this dish). The pho broth was wonderfully fragrant and the noodles cooked to perfection. Tasty dumplings and crab rangoon that were more than just cream cheese rounded out a perfect meal. Everything really hit the spot and was well done.

A week after my takeaway I dined in at Moon Wok. The green tea ginger ale was snappy and fresh. My husband enjoyed the Mongolian with beef. The sauce was good and not overpowered with salt. I ate the Thai basil. I didn't enjoy the dish and found the balance overwhelming and slightly bitter. The whimsical wontons were amazing ... if I didn't have as much self-respect as I do, I would have licked the plate clean of hazelnut chocolate sauce!

While not a fan of the stir fry craze, I like the idea of Moon Wok using fresh, local and sustainable restaurant methods. This fact alone would keep me coming back for more of their menu items. Luckily the food is tasty. My only gripe is the spinning red light thing in the middle of the restaurant ... it's really distracting and actually made me a little queasy during the meal.

This place doesn't have their act together.  Picked up a menu in the afternoon and asked whether they deliver:  "Sure!"  Called for delivery, and oops, "well, not tonight, we're really busy."  So I ordered to pick up and "well, that will take 40 minutes to be ready."  So I showed up an hour later to find, not only was the food not even started cooking yet, but at least one menu item didn't exist.  Why do you give your phone number to a place with your order if they're not going to use it to call you back on something like this?  The woman at the door was clearly in over her head, had no idea what to tell me, the manager came over and said that maybe it would be 10 more minutes till my food was ready -- it was obviously going to be much more than that.  No offer from them for me to sit down, no offer to take some $$ off the food for my trouble, no customer service whatsoever.  I felt really, really un-valued as a customer.

Cheaper and tastier than Flat Top and Stir Crazy!

I went here with a friend for lunch.  We had the $8.95 lunch "create your own" stir fry (drink included).  The ingredients were super fresh, there was a large variety of sauces, and your chosen protein came grilled on skewers.  I chose chicken with my stir fry, and it was very tender and flavorful.  My stir fry came out a lot better than it usually does at Flat Top.

The restaurant itself was decently decorated, and the service was attentive.  When my friend drank down to the bottom of her soda, the waiter immediately gave her a refill.  This place definitely deserves more customers- I know I will be back!

I've been to the Red Mango next door countless times, and have been curious of this restaurant. So I researched it on its website to check out the menu, and it looked good. Unfortunately, they only had the "To Go" and "Catering" Menus available on the website.
The restaurant looked clean and nice and there was a really cool ceiling fan, that would display sentences about promoting their website.
So I decided to give the stir fry a try, and this place reminded me a lot like "Flat Top Grill" or "Mongolian Bowl." These restaurants are similar, cause all you do is fill up a bowl with noodles/rice, vegetables, and sauces. But what's different, is that you pick your meat when you drop off your bowl, unlike "Flat Top," where you can mix your meats (or not) and put in whatever amount you want in a separate small bowl.
I guess it's not a good thing to compare too much, but I feel like you can get more out of "Flat Top," since they have more choices with sauces, vegetables, meats/seafood, and choice/style of how your stir fry would be cooked.
What I also personally didn't like was the "rawness" of some of the vegetables. I suppose it was my fault for choosing green beans in my bowl, but it was still crispy and raw when I received the "cooked" bowl.
Also, since you do pick your own vegetables/noodles/rice, you are given your own tong for everything (but peanuts and garlic, they have their own wooden spoon), which is nice, so you know that you're the only one holding that tong. However, what if someone was allergic to a certain vegetable, and someone else mixed or touched different vegetables with their tongs? I can see a problem with that...
Overall, I'd rate this place as OK. I would only come back for the stir fry for the lunch deals (only offered on weekdays =/ ) since it's cheaper. I do like how they have the chow fun noodles, since (most?) "Flat Top" location have stopped offering that.
However I still have yet to try the other foods on the menu, but if you're craving stir fry-- go somewhere else for a better variety.

I was really excited to try out this new restaurant that just opened up around the corner from my work.  My coworker and I were in search for someplace cheap for lunch.  For $8.95, you get a big bowl entrée and a refillable soda.  The place is very nice, modern and clean.  When you get seated, you get your choice of ordering from the menu or you can get their lunch special for $8.95 which comes with a refillable soda.  If you choose to go for their Lunch special, you will be given a giant bowl and a wooden stick with your table number.  You have to write your choice of meat (chicken, pork or steak) on this wooden stick. You then go to the Bar  (with bowl and stick in hand) and fill your bowl with a wide variety of fresh vegetable and meats (chicken, pork, or steak).  You then have your selection of different sauces (such as Chilli sauce, Koran BBQ, Mongolian Sauce etc) you put in your food selection and then you give it to the cook who will stir fry everything for you and when it is cooked, the waiter will bring the food to your table.

When we received our food, we were surprised to get 3 skewers of our choice meat (see my pic above)  The whole presentation was very nice, and not at all greasy.  I filled my bowl to the rim with Brown rice, Vegetables and Chicken, along with 2 ladles of Chili and 2 ladles of Korean BBW sauce and it was so YUUUMMMMY !!!!  For $3 more, you can have unlimited visits to the food bar, but my one single visit was enough to satisfy my big appetite.  I ended up taking about half of my food home.  I suggest you fill your bowl to the rim as the food will shrink once it is cooked.  I definitely love this place if you are into this type of Stir Fry cooking and you enjoy fresh vegetables.  Other places that is comparable to this restaurant is Stir Crazy, Big Bowl, and FlatTop Grill, which has the same concept, but this place was the cheapest and just around the corner from my work in Northbook

By the way, if you work for Allstate at their huge Home Office in Northbrook, you get a 15% discount off of their regular lunch menu  (not including the $8.95 lunch Bowl).  I definitely will be back here again next week, cant wait to take my other co-workers along.

I took my cousins here one night for dinner. We weren't all that hungry, so we had a couple appetizers and desserts.

I ordered the calamari, which was a decent portion for the four of us. The server was very nice. I could tell it was her first time serving, but she didn't screw up or anything, so I'm sure she'll do fine. We had the creme brule, the donuts, and the brownie. The desserts were all very standard, nothing too special.

Overall this place, is all right. I haven't tried their stir fry yet, so maybe my opinion will chance soon.

Moon Wok is good, you make you own stir fry, the veggies were fresh and crunchy, there was plenty of meat. The sauces were hard to pick from and you can taste them but obviously its gonna tast differently when cooked w/the food. I chooose general tsaos sauce and orange sauce. I think I put too much because there was a pool of sauce and the bottom of my plate. I also had the fried doughnut which was good, but the chocolate sauce that came with it sucked, it wasn't sweet and thick at all. Overall, the atmosphere was nice, our waitress was very helpful, and I wouldn't mind going back again.

Moon-Wok is what I did when I left this place along with a high pitched hee hee!!! In all seriousness, this place was PHENOMENAL!!! We went on a monday night so it was pretty slow but to me it felt like we have had place to ourselves. The people there were nice, the Create your own stir-fry was flavorful, fresh, and amazing, the doughnuts for dessert  tasted like funnel cake which to me is now declared, BOMB!!! (I Mean that in a great way) and overall, we walked out more satisfied then we ever have from any other restaurant. We definitly recommend the doughnuts and this place.

I think this place has potential. I remember seeing this place under construction during my multiple visits to Red Mango, just next door. At first I thought it would have been more of a Sarku type of place. However, I was surprised to notice it was more like Flat Top Grill or Sir Crazy. Score!

I came here with a few coworkers during lunch time and we ordered the lunch special for $8.99, including drink. Bear in mind that it doesn't include their Ginger Ale drinks. Wish they would have mentioned that in the menu.

I think I gave it one less star because of the particular waitress she had. I think she was off in space while serving us. It wasn't exactly hoppin' while we were there. The floor manager was more attentive to us, than she was. The stir fry bar was well stocked/restocked. However, the veggie tempeh which I requested was out. No big deal.. tofu was fine. At one point, the music was blasting, but was remedied mid-meal.

Even though there was a decent amount of people in line before us, we didn't wait as long as I would have thought. I'll give this place another chance. Just hope they crack down on the service.
