Mt. Fuji

The bubble tea was really awesome! Our food was pretty good & service was great! Will absolutely come back!

Tried the new Mt. Fuji restaurant in Cardinal Towne by UofL. It is Japanese hibachi in a fast food model. Overall, not bad, but not great. You place your order at the counter when you come in the door, then you sit and someone brings out your order. I found this to be inconvenient since I like my courses spaced out, but in keeping with the fast food atmosphere all of your order is prepared and brought out at the same time. The dining room is claustrophobic, the tables are lined up in what feels like a long hallway, but it is clean and simple with concrete floors and exposed duct work. On the night we went, it was very busy with only one open table, so with the above mentioned design it was extremely loud.
Started with the veggie sushi roll, which is not on the menu, but they do offer. Then had miso soup, ginger salads, with a fried rice and hibachi chicken entree. The portions were very generous, and everything tasted good, but nothing stood out as great. The rice was the biggest disappointment, it was dry and virtually flavorless. The miso soup was on par with most Japanese restaurants in the area, the ginger salad dressing was not the best I have had. The chicken was dry and under seasoned. Everything was edible and a reasonable facsimile of Japanese food but for a few dollars more I would go to Sapporo,Shogun, or Sake Blue. All of their food is a step above in flavor.
I also want to add that we live in the area and we received a mailer that had a grand opening special that you would receive 15% off your order until Feb 28th. When I presented this to the cashier she said that she could not give out the discount because it was a misprint. When I raised an eyebrow she proceeded to give me the discount anyway.
