I love everything about this bar. Â From the ambiance, bartenders, drinks, music, everything is right. Â Beer selection is awesome and they constantly change up their taps and bottles. Â Place is always busy yet I find that I am never waiting to grab a drink. Â The bartenders are fast, attentive and really informative about the beers here. Â I've come here dressed up in heels looking fancy, I've come straight from work, and I've come in sweatpants and sneakers. Â
Though the inside of this place is great, my favorite part might have to be the stuff they write on their blackboard outside....
The bf and I stopped by here for a drink to pass time while waiting for a table at nearby Besito. The bartender was really friendly, there was a decent variety of beers to choose from, and the place looked clean and airy. There are some places where I just cringe if I have to sit at the bar because it's sticky and dirty, but this place was well-maintained. They seem to have good specials every day. If I lived around here I'd definitely be stopping by all the time for after-work drinks and to shoot the breeze with my coworkers. Will have to try their food next time!
Review Source:Really sweet joint along the drunken path in Huntington.
I went on a weekday place was quite. Then business picked upped and then I realized everyone was getting ready to play a drinking trivia game. Very cool! I chimed right in and got along with my fellow patrons.
Live music usually local folk jamming. Â Not bad. Â I think when its a bigger group with a large following they have a entrance fee.
Atmosphere was fine with plenty of seating and breathing room.
Turns out this place used to be an ally way. The walls are the bricks to the neighboring buildings.
I really enjoyed myself here. I'm not sure if this was because I was surrounded by impeccable company or because I was charmed by the decor, beer selection, ambiance, etc etc. I feel as though this review may be a bit biased because I was here on a Monday night for a friends birthday so it was fairly quiet. It's a great little pub that has a warm welcoming decor, a great little back patio for the smokers and (once again) a great beer selection. I will most certainly be coming back
Review Source:Great place to watch the Olympics. Lot's of TV's and plenty of beer choices to play with. They actually have a chalkboard up with all the latest micro-brews they have, as well as the alcohol percentage. The atmosphere was a classy wood motif, and the music wasn't loud enough to disturb my conversations. Great place that is thankfully missing the teenage brawlers that other bars in Huntington deal with, and also minus the bald, grey, and cougarish folk down the street!!! lol
Review Source:On a recent trip to Huntington for date night, I was excited to introduce my fiance to Nag's Head, a bar that I discovered a few months ago before a Marilyn Manson concert at the Paramount. (My first experience was terrific-- great selection of GREAT beer, and AWESOME bartender.)
Our experience was just as awesome as my first time. The bar wasn't crowded, we got seats at the center of the bar in front of the taps. We each had a Captain Lawrence ale, 10.5% alcohol if I remember correctly, 10oz glass, $8. Our bartender was friendly and attentive. After having had 2 glasses each, we both stumbled our way out to dinner at Samurai Hibachi around the corner.
(BTW, clean bathrooms!)
This was the only bar that was pretty pack. Seems like an overall fun place to go with a group of friends especially on Thursday when they have the trivia going on.
We ordered our first drink of the night there. We had the jagerbomb and the bartender came out with a cool cup/shot just for that drink.
If you are looking for a place to get a spot at the bar or a seat at a table with your friends Nag's Head will deliver. Â While still sort of dive-y it is a step up from some of the other local watering holes. Â One of the few places in Hton you can go to with 10 friends and fit comfortably. Â They have a small area outside that is fun in the summer. Â It's usually free to get in here unless there is a band playing and then it's usually $5. Â The bands aren't great but it's still fun to see a live show. Â The bartenders are friendly and good with some buybacks. Â Def go to watch a local sports game and not be bothered by annoying servers or other patrons. Â
To compare it to the bars around it it's a step up from Huntington Village tavern and a step down from Riley's.
One of the best places to hang on a Friday or Saturday Night. Great selection of craft beers. Brooklyn, Dogfish Head and Sierra Nevada to name a few. Very cool staff and casual setting. I love watching my Islander games at Nags Head with a fresh Pint of Guinness. Great place for pre or post game before a show at the Paramount also.
Review Source:On the way home from her grandmother's Christmas night dinner, I dropped my completely sober 22 year old daughter off at Nag's Head so that she meet a friend for a drink. Â She was treated very rudely by the bartender who refused to serve her, claiming she was drunk, "slurring words and tripping over the barstools." Â . He threw her and her friends out of the bar using VERY foul language. Not exactly CHEERS, wouldn't you say?
- A respectable long-time Huntington citizen
I have been coming here for years, and each time I thourpughly enjoy myself. The staff is approachable and very friendly, and the crowd the bar attracts shares the same characteristics as the staff; amiable and welcoming. A variety of beers both on tap and draft. Stop by for a good time indeed.
4 stars for the service, variety of beers, and friendly crowd.
Nag's Head has classed it up big time since the days when I would come here on a relatively occasional basis. Â The bathrooms are no longer basically holes in the ground with saloon doors, there's no more dirty couches up on the old NY Ave stage, and the patio out back is cleaned up. Â They've also gotten a much improved list of beers on tap (Six Point, Captain Lawrence, Palm, etc). Â Was not feeling the bartenders and their very faint hint of a bad attitude but whatever...They brought me good beer ($6 a pint). Â It probably would get 4 stars in comparison to other places in this "hood" except for the horrendous-ness that I encountered once the clock struck 10 here. Â There was a decent crowd in the bar and we ducked out back for literally maybe 15 minutes tops. Â When we walked back inside you COULD NOT MOVE. Â Honestly, it was INSANITY. Â Definite fire code situation going on. Â Not only could I not make it to the bar to close out my tab, I couldn't make it to the door! Â These guys need to get it together and do some crowd/door control.
Review Source:I take back some of the bitterness of my initial review. Â When not filled to the brim with kids I knew from high school, Nag's Head is actually worth a visit. Â Grab a bar stool, sit down, watch some sports, and shoot the shit with the bartends. Â Good stuff. Â It was so good actually, my roommate and I visited two nights in a row on a three night trip. Â
Decently priced, good service, attentive service, and willingness to change the channel to the sporting event of your choice. Â I'll be back.
Local watering hole.
My and my bud needed to get out and have a few cocktails and some attitude adjustment - so we ventured over to Huntington Village and strolled around.
We wound up in Nags Head - which I hadn't been to in years and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was still a decent place.
The crowd was definitely on the young side but not the usual frat boy rabble.
Bartenders were very good- and prices were surprisingly sane.
The place is spacious enough that it is comfortable and there are some couches located in the rear.
Bathrooms were decent.
Parking all over the village.
