Update: So I got a weird, incoherent message from someone I am assuming to be the owner of this place. He says he kicked me or something and I got arrested. I have no idea what he's talking about, he must have me mistaken for someone else who disliked his bad shisha, tea and music. I've never met this guy, nor have I ever been arrested in my life.
Now this place drops a star for creepy, libelous ownership. Don't go here.
I just moved upon the neighborhood and was delighted to find a hookah place nearby. Thankfully I wasn't disappointed. The hookahs are cheap but full flavored and lasting. The atmosphere is also very relaxed. It's a small venue but incredibly comfortable.
They should be getting the liquor licence shortly and that will give them the last star. Until then, though, it's a great place if you actually enjoy hookah and are looking for a quality location.
I was looking forward to this place from the second I heard about it. My girlfriend and I checked it out about a month ago and had mixed feelings. Â The inside IS beautiful and you can't beat $7 hookah. Especially when it seems bottomless! Â The owner replaced our coal quite a few times over the hour (or 2?) that we were there and it was still going strong when we decided to leave.
However, "fairly small" is an understatement. Â It's downright tiny. Â We were the only ones there, and that actually made it feel smaller, I think. I was extra aware of the owners staring us down from across the tiny room while we tried to act natural and keep our conversation to a murmur. Â There was background music, but I still would have felt more comfortable with more people around. I think this place would be really fun with a large group of friends, or 2 smaller groups. Â Anything to fill the awkward lack of background noise.
It's also disappointing that they don't have a liquor license or even a BYOB policy, yet. There's no food or cafe either. Â Pretty much just tea. We were told they're "working on it".
I hope they get it together, b/c I would love to have a cozy hookah joint close by!
UPDATE: As of May 20th, it looks like Nare has applied for a liquor license: <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.timesnewsweekly.com%2Fnews%2F2010-05-20%2FLocal_News%2F5_Gets_Applications_For___Bar_Liquor_Permits.html&s=58776cd85e0ed065a7b82dde12ea51903eae6ef5c3660b2621d540743e1aa487" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.timesnewsweek…</a>
