This restaurant offers a versatile menu to suit a broad flavor palate. The small plate format was perfect to explore the menu. The food was perfectly seasoned and rich in flavor that made it satisfying and filling. Our server is very congenial and very knowledgeable. Despite the beautiful decor, I would have rated the ambiance higher had it not been for the very loud music playing in the background. It made it very difficult to hear our server and even carry a conversation throughout the evening. The loud music & bad acoustics of the building made diners talk louder which exponentially made it noisier and difficult to stay longer. It caters to a very trendy and younger group. If you are a foodie, it is worth exploring to get your money's worth. Cocktails are horrendously pricey worth the splurge. The bartender customized a cocktail for me that was not in the menu. My first time here was for an Oscar party for Chicago bloggers -- so definitely not your typical first experience. However, I did have a good one. The service was excellent, one server in particular was very attentive. I only tried a couple passed appetizers, but the drink I had (an Oscar special -- the Silver Lining) was DELICIOUS!! Based on the service, decor, and what I've heard about Nellcote, I'm definitely making it a point to return for the full experience.
