On a recent rainy evening spent at the Allegro, we were limited to either walking in the rain/taking a cab or eating at one of the 2 restaurants the Allegro provides. We thought 312 seemed a bit high-brow for our evening so we chose Encore for a more casual bite to eat. All of the tables were small cocktail sized, not really conducive to a full meal. There was one larger booth but was marked Reserved (although no one sat there for the hour and a half we were there). First round of drinks, 2 had to be sent back because the concentration of sour mix was set to Warheads Sour Balls and a salt rim was applied to a Lemon Drop Martini. Started with calamari, very blah breading and the calamari was too chewy for me. I had a BBQ chicken/onion pizza. Despite the description of "caramalized" onions, mine were still white and crunchy. The dough had to be the most blah I have ever tasted (maybe my taste buds suffered lasting damage from my liquid Warhead drink??). The Buffalo sliders were pronounced to taste like melted plastic which we discovered was limited to the buns so at least the meat could be consumed. The table was just so tiny, it was a constant maneuver to keep everything on it. Why do they serve whole dinners if they don't have the table space for them? Totally should've braved the rain and dipped out to the local gyro place across the street.
Review Source:Very Eclectic Drink & Food Menu
So its Christmas time, and you try to fit in lunches, or after work cocktails with those colleagues you value during the holiday season to wish them well. An attorney who works for me picked Encore. I had never been there before, and am not a fan of the adjoining hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. The drinks were reasonably priced for a downtown establishment, and the menu of cocktails & beverages was substantial. The food was generously proportioned and unique in some respects. For example, Shrimp Corn Dogs! You MUST try them. Outstanding.
If your downtown for a show at the Cadiliac Theater a great drink place pre-show
Super fast service, the bartender gave a warning to patrons about the showtime next door. Good craft cocktails, a lil $$ but it is downtown........ lots of tourists and over-served secretaries out with the boss after 9pm - but a great location and interior can be descibed as "club cool"
