On a recent rainy evening spent at the Allegro, we were limited to either walking in the rain/taking a cab or eating at one of the 2 restaurants the Allegro provides. We thought 312 seemed a bit high-brow for our evening so we chose Encore for a more casual bite to eat. All of the tables were small cocktail sized, not really conducive to a full meal. There was one larger booth but was marked Reserved (although no one sat there for the hour and a half we were there). First round of drinks, 2 had to be sent back because the concentration of sour mix was set to Warheads Sour Balls and a salt rim was applied to a Lemon Drop Martini. Started with calamari, very blah breading and the calamari was too chewy for me. I had a BBQ chicken/onion pizza. Despite the description of "caramalized" onions, mine were still white and crunchy. The dough had to be the most blah I have ever tasted (maybe my taste buds suffered lasting damage from my liquid Warhead drink??). The Buffalo sliders were pronounced to taste like melted plastic which we discovered was limited to the buns so at least the meat could be consumed. The table was just so tiny, it was a constant maneuver to keep everything on it. Why do they serve whole dinners if they don't have the table space for them? Totally should've braved the rain and dipped out to the local gyro place across the street.
Review Source:Very Eclectic Drink & Food Menu
So its Christmas time, and you try to fit in lunches, or after work cocktails with those colleagues you value during the holiday season to wish them well. An attorney who works for me picked Encore. I had never been there before, and am not a fan of the adjoining hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. The drinks were reasonably priced for a downtown establishment, and the menu of cocktails & beverages was substantial. The food was generously proportioned and unique in some respects. For example, Shrimp Corn Dogs! You MUST try them. Outstanding.
If your downtown for a show at the Cadiliac Theater a great drink place pre-show
Super fast service, the bartender gave a warning to patrons about the showtime next door. Good craft cocktails, a lil $$ but it is downtown........ lots of tourists and over-served secretaries out with the boss after 9pm - but a great location and interior can be descibed as "club cool"
Stayed at the Allegro Hotel next door and enjoyed grabbing a night cap down here every night! Really cool vibe and great/friendly wait staff. Never tried the food but the bartenders def know what they're doing and prices aren't bad at all for area! Would def come back and recommend when in town again!
Review Source:A pure late night gem. I stumbled on this place on a recent business excursion that put me out in the middle of the business district of Chicago - where just about everything closes at 6. I walked a good ways until finding Encore and I caught the cut off by about 4 minutes to order food. The burger was good and so were the fries. As a little FYI, for like 3 or 4 bucks they have a homemade potato chip basket that is HUGE and pretty good. I went back a week later for the crab cake... not bad. Obviously frozen, but not bad.
Review Source:This bar has a cross between Alice in Wonderland and a subversive Clockwork Orange thing going on. In other words, fantastic interior.
Was here for a corporate Xmas party, so drinks were freeeee . . . but I understand they're a bit pricey. I'd come back, it looks like a good after work hangout.
Fab place for after work drinks with coworkers or friends. Â You definitely get your money's worth when it comes to the drinks- they are not for the feint of liver.
I've been here for happy hour with friends and coworkers alike, Â Staff is always friendly without being pushy, and the appetizers are quite nice also! Â The artichoke dip is delicious.
Will definitely be back here for drinks.
What an unexpectedly pleasant lunch! Â A friend and I decided to treat ourselves to a long-ish lunch, and boy am I glad we did. Â Encore may not be, since we were belly laughing ourselves to tears over a ridiculously funny spam e-mail, but this isn't about them. Â Oh wait, actually it is. Â
Encore has a pretty extensive lunch menu and you can also do a combo with a half sandwich and a side salad or cup of soup which is what I opted to do.  For $13.25, I got half a tenderloin sandwich which was great, a cup of chili ($1upcharge from the $12.25 combo price), housemade chips, and a side of  fruit.  I ate every bite, I think.  Clean plate club! Â
The place was a little packed but they were good at managing the flow. Â Always good to have another place in the Loop.
This was our local bar on a recent trip to Chicago, and it was solid. Â The creative cocktail menu was enjoyable and I particularly appreciated that the staff was on target with their recommendations for "big girl drinks" since I don't enjoy super sweet cocktails.
Nice appetizer menu - risotto croquettes and artichoke dip were particular hits, though we found the burger to be underwhelming.
Friendly staff, convenient location, solid menu, good mix of people and a room that's quiet enough to converse in without shouting brought us back almost every night.
Good thing I had my brand new shiny, replacement ID on me because as soon as I ordered my 1st drink, I was asked for my ID. Oooooooo nice, I don't look like I'm 30 or 29 (at the time) eh? Those cheese fries with fake cheese must be working their magic on my face! :-p
One of my most favorite things to do is to meet up after work for drinks and unwind! Sobbing in a pool of hard liquor for mommy and daddy. My drinking buddy, he picked this- being close to both of us as well as the clark and lake stop which would be important later. We don't work, drink and drive you see. Located in the loop attached to Hotel Allegro, there's some tourists here (but not too much where it's annoying) and you can tell because they stand out like the underage looking girls dressed like hookers with their parents (looking lost, scared and confused). Â It's after work and I KNOW most office drones aren't allowed to come to work dressed as underage hookers. It's good people watching, these tourists. There is also a good mix of locals meeting up here for drinks and a bite to eat in the evening.
What I really like about it here: their drinks are mighty stiff! That's why I'm not too bothered by the pricey drinks. I had one of the fruity cocktails on their cocktail menu and it was more strong than fruity. Me likey! I also ordered a martini with gin and it also was very well made. We ordered the calamari and I could do without that next time. It just wasn't very good because it was pretty tasteless but atleast it wasn't dry! If fried calamari is on the menu, then I've always gotta try it and now that I know about this one, it's a No. So I'm glad I satisfied my curiosity. Anyway, the bar feels a little like it's in the 80s but the service was fantastic and very attentive but never intrusive. I love the wait staff here. I really like it here and will have to check out some more of their food next time.
Not even a whole block away from the job so it should be a no-brainer that this be my go to spot for afterwork drinks. Actually I have been here only 3 times in the 3.5 years I have worked so close to it.
Usually a suit & tie crowd or at least slacks and shirts. Drinks can be a little expensive here so maybe thats the reason I don't frequent. All 3 times I have been I have stumbled out in a drunken state, so I definitely recommend this joint if you work nearby.
By the way, this place is connected to the Allegro Hotel
Ran in here an hour before a show at the Cadillac Palace starving. Service was quick, and the kitchen had a hold on how to get a huge rush of food orders out to tables quickly.
Encore looks like a modern art-deco circus ring surrounded by tables and filled with booze. Fleur de le black and white prints, ugly wall paper, silvers and reds... it was all a bit over-trendy.
Neither the food nor wine is memorable, but the beer list is local and diverse. The appetizer dips served with tortilla chips are worth trying just for the fresh fried tortilla. I tried the goat cheese dip, but was disappointed by the sauce/cheese ratio. The "tenderloin torpedos" dish had over-cooked meat, but the overall concept was tasty. If I had more time, there were a couple things I would have liked to try on the menu, but I wouldn't come back here unless I was headed to Cadillac.
This whole experience just sucked. Â There's no other way to say it.
I went with a co-worker for a Friday lunch and it sucked from the moment we walked in until the moment we left.
First, we stood waiting at the entrance for what felt like forever while servers and bartenders passed us without an acknowledgment. Â Apparently the idea of host or hostess never occurred to Encore. Â There were two other couples and a group of 4 also waiting and looking a little disgruntled. Â Not even a host stand - the bartender came over and seated us and spent the rest of the time acting as host, bartender and our crappy server.
After finally seated it took about 10 minutes for him to come back with our drinks and take our order. Â This is loop lunch people - I have to be back in my office and your laid back time frame doesn't work for me. Â
It really pisses me off when servers act all cool about taking your order and refusing to write anything down. Â I have been a server and admire this talent because I can't do it - but if you can't do it - WRITE IT DOWN. Â My salad (which was clearly premade and waiting in the refrigerator to be ordered for who knows how long - the veggies were wilty and the nuts were soft and cold) didn't come with dressing on the side as I twice requested.
We waited for the bill for another 10 minutes after finishing up - finally having to flag him down to come back over. Â The bill then came with no cookies. Â My co-worker talked me into the place because they give small, delicious freshly baked cookies with your bill. Â I inquired with the server (and had to walk over to the bar because he was playing bartender at that time and didn't come back over to take our credit cards) and he said they were out.
Ok, not a big deal, but an appropriate ending to this disappointing experience.
p.s., I agree about the hot pink euro-trash decor. Â Lame.
Encore Liquid Lounge is slowly becoming my go-to place for lunch near my office where you can sit down and be waited on... and not wait a grillion years for a table. Â I think this is mainly because ELL is generally viewed as a venue for pre-theatre cocktailing or after-work drinks. Â Who knew they also have a pretty sweet lunch menu?
I'm a huge advocate of the Encore Combo, which is a half sandwich or wrap with a cup of our soup of the day or house salad. Â With that combo, you also get TWO sides including house made chips and your choice of wasabi slaw, fresh fruit or cottage cheese. Â I'd recommend going for the cottage cheese. Â I'm a total weirdo and really enjoy dipping my house made chips in my cottage cheese for the perfect combination of salty/creamy deliciousness. Â Sort of like a healthier French onion dip... but not. Â I know I'm totally digressing here, so I'll move on.
My favorite sandwich option is the chicken fajita wrap filled with grilled chicken, sweet peppers, onions, tomatoes with monterey jack cheese and guacamole dressing. Â Tell me that doesn't sound awesome. Â It is. Â Delectable and awesome.
Service is always on point and the check is always delivered swiftly. Â While I'm discussing the check, I should forewarn that this is not the cheapest lunch option in the area. Â The Encore Combo will run you just over $12, but keep in mind it's a lot of food and yummy food at that. Â Sometimes it's okay to splurge a bit on a weekday lunch.
I must have walked by this place a million times and never even knew that it was also a restaurant; I always assumed it was just a bar/lounge, but once again, thanks to Yelp, I learned that they serve lunch too.
I am always on the lookout for new spots to have lunch in the Loop, besides the dreaded fast-food options that pollute every block, so when the ex-fiance asked me to lunch after he recently got married, this seemed like the place to go. New lunch place for me, new marital status for him. Newness all around.
I walked in and two things struck me: we were able to be seated immediately at noon, which if you work downtown, you know is no small feat, and bonus: they were playing great 70s oldies. I mean, when was the last time you heard "Still the One" by Orleans? Years, right? I thought so.
In fact, this place kinda reminds me of the 70s in its decor, not that that's a bad thing, just odd, considering it's in the Loop, in a hotel.
The lighting seemed rather dim, but I guess since this is primarily an after-work establishment that just happens to serve lunch, it's not altogether surprising.
The menu has a lot to choose from: salads, sandwiches, and a few entrees round out the menu.
I ordered some non-alcoholic drink called the "Bella", which sounded refreshing, but at $5.50, that's a hefty sum to pay for a drink that's not going to get me even the slightest bit buzzed. The drink was a concoction of raspberry puree, cranberry and pineapple juices, and soda. Was it tasty? Yes, but not enough to warrant the price. I'd definitely come back after work and enjoy it with vodka though.
I was in the mood for a salad and trying to be somewhat healthy, so I ordered a grilled vegetable salad and he ordered a cobb salad. They arrived lightning fast, which always tells me that they are just pulled out of the refrigerator and dressed just prior to arriving to the table. Not necessarily a bad thing; after all, it's lunchtime; people are in a hurry and restaurants are anxious to turn their tables. Totally understandable.
His cobb salad looked fine. It had green olives in it, in addition to the standard cobb salad ingredients, and it was a generous portion.
After tasting my salad, my suspicion about it being refrigerated were indeed confirmed; it was ice cold. Yes, it's a salad, but I prefer not biting into vegetables that practically have ice crystals forming on them. Still, it was good salad, with tons of asparagus, zucchini, red peppers, whole mushrooms, yellow squash and eggplant. I was kind of surprised that there were no tomatoes added, but no big deal. The dressing could have used more pizazz, but I suspect that since it's a "light" salad, that the dressing is thoughfully chosen.
Lunch concluded and the check arrived - with chocolate chip cookies, gratis. I thought that was a nice touch, and the cookie was very good; I just shared it with my coworker and we devoured it.
Encore has definitely earned a spot on my Loop lunch rotation and I will most certainly be back for after-work cocktails.
Great place for lunch and happy hour!
This place made me fall in love with buffalo chicken again. Â I got their buffalo chicken wrap which was large enough for me to save the other half for later. Â The burgers are good as well.
Service is fast. Â
Great atmosphere to hang out and have drinks after work.
"Overpriced and unremarkable."
That's the category I place most restaurants/lounges connected to hotels.
Encore, connected to Hotel Allegro and just steps away from the Cadillac Theatre, is no exception.
I've only ever been here for lunch, as it is close to my workplace, but I've always been underwhelmed. It's the kind of joint where you're going to pay $12 for a salad, $3.50 for pop and still get back to your office hungry again and wondering, "Now, what did I just eat?"
The food is not "bad". It's just unremarkable and unmemorable -- but overpriced. When you can barely remember what you ate or were decidedly "meh" about it, but you damn sure remember every cent you spent on it, there's a problem. One of the best things this place does is offer free cookies at the end of the meal, which are pretty good.
Encore has everything going for it with the location and the hotel connection. Their next course of action should be elevating the quality of the food so that it justifies the prices.
This place is solid for a weekday lunch. Â Service is fast and you get your food within 5-10 minutes since most of the menu is sandwiches. Â Homemade chips are great, but you do get that mid-day grease hangover if you overindulge. Â I'm a huge fan of the Grilled Salmon Sandwich with half salad and horseradish coleslaw. Â I've also had the mortadella which I'd also recommend.
Make sure to get here before 1 though as this is the cut off when they start running out of free fresh cookies. Â The fresh cookies are free and they are the bomb dig.
$2 fat tire pints are redeeming, but the rest is so-so. Â kudos to whomever figured out how to fill such a small space with things that matched so little. Â I didn't find it cohesive at all, but maybe I didn't drink enough.
We ordered a round and everyone's beers tasted like bleach. Â When we sent them back, it turned out they had just cleared the lines on the beer taps and hadn't rinsed them enough!
This is another place that I tend to go prior to a show in the Theater District...be forewarned...this place can get CROWDED so go at least an hour before the show!
The martinis...are great...and good variety, usually named after songs and themes from musicals (considering it's right next to the Cadillac Palace).
The appetizers...YUM. Â Steak torpedoes are awesome...and I am addicted to their humus...made with garlic...Simply WOW!
Thursday night means one thing - Happy Hour!
The coworker ladies and I slide into a large booth by the window. Despite repeat offers of a larger table, we remain (booths trump tables, yo!). Besides, we are wee gentle-ladies, we can all fit!
Quite the fancy-drink (read: cocktail) list! Many variants of mojito - me likey! Our party of five orders 2 blood orange mojitos, one normal mojito, wine, and... well, I can't remember what the other girl ordered... whatever. Palates intrigued, we wait.
And wait... something's not right. Finally our waitress comes back to inform us that they are out of mint, so no mojitos tonight. Poo.
[Sidenote: This seems to always happen to me. Which one of you is wandering through the city 15 minutes ahead of me eating all the mint? Stop, please. Thanks.]
I'm largely unfazed (as I mentioned, this mint-lessness is a common feature in my life. I prepared a back-up drink). I order a Blow Pop Martini. Wow - it tastes just like a blow pop. I suppose that isn't a mind-bender given the name, but I'm still impressed that the bartender was able to capture essence o'blow pop so perfectly.
While we sip our martinis, we gaze through the impressive menu of appetizers. Our picky group manages to find several items we can all agree on. Trust me, I dine with these ladies a lot - this is rare. We settle on the crab cakes and the baked goat cheese. To be honest, I didn't get a lot of the crab cake because it was at the other end of the table (travesty!) but the goat cheese was fabulous. I snarfed it down like a 5-year old who doesn't know how to share.
My boyfriend and I needed a backup plan when Mary Poppins was canceled 20 minutes into the show. We stepped out of the Cadillac Palace and found it was pouring outside, so we ducked into Encore because it was right next door. Fate!
Housed in The Allegro, Encore is a stylish bar with a very cool atmosphere. Service was great and the servers and bartenders were all friendly.
Drinks are a little pricey (cocktails are all $10) but with good reason. Â The cocktails are all made with fresh, delicious ingredients and glasses are filled quite plentifully. They have around 20 cocktails to choose from and one list is comprised of drinks with silly, satirical names like, "Hawaiian Obama" and "Dirty Governor", and they also have an evening cocktail cuisine menu.
One more fun fact: the cast of Mary Poppins happened to come into Encore for some post-canceled-show fun, and they kindly sang "Happy Birthday" to me at the request of my boyfriend. Cocktails good enough for Mary Poppins are good enough for me!
I feel like I am endlessly on the quest for cheap and delicious lunch places...the loop is seemingly a wasteland for all that is tasty and cheap. Â Encore has the tasty down pat...very much so. Â Cheap? Â Ehhh, not so much.
We came here for lunch on a Friday, were able to get a table right away, which is always a plus (Anyone else been on the starvation train at noon on a Friday and cannot find a place to sit? Â Yeah, me too. Â It sucks.)
Us ladies were very refined and had salads. Â Nice portions, a little pricier than I'd like to spend on a daily lunch, but Fridays seem like days to splurge, yes? Â I had the BBQ shrimp salad which was mixed greens, big ol' fatty grilled shrimp, a pile of pickled grilled veggies, some tortilla strips, all tossed with BBQ ranch. Â Hell to the yes, this was just what this chicklet needed.
Also consumed: the mozzarella asparagus salad, a chicken caesar, and a buffalo chicken wrap. Â All went down with abandon (that's what he said) and we were stuffed.
The kicker? Â We were sitting for a moment, and they brought us four beautiful little wrapped chocolate chip cookies. Â Free cookies? Â Hell yes. Â Momma likes. Â Momma likes a whoooole lot.
The decor is nice, more sophisticated that usual lunch-time fare of plastic tables and paper napkins. Â More loungey, they still have a couple of TVs around, but I like the fact they are placed more inconspicuously.
Service was friendly, not overly so, but she did the trick without irritating me (which is a huge thing some days!)
We'll be back. Â They have a lovely cocktail menu (a little pricey, but the drinks seem tasty enough to warrant the money). Â We just hope that one day our boss decides to buy us lunch again. Â We're making him take us here!
I'm not one to stereotype a place before eating there but when I see "liquid lounge" my first thought is to run like hell.
I work nearby so I've eaten here for lunch a few times and met for drinks after. Â I'm not a fan, and won't ever be a fan of this place. Â It's too wannabe trendy for me to enjoy it. Â The food wasn't special and I felt like it was the type of place rich business men might take their girlfriends they are looking to have an affair with. Â It's just wrong in all the right ways.
I work a few steps away from Encore, so it's been a place for lunchin' several times. The elaborate, decor of the Allegro Hotel (which I'm a fan of) carries over to Encore. Think scaled down version of the Cheescake factory done in red/maroon.
I always seem to get the same thing: the salmon sandwich. I actually don't know where else in the loop area that I'd be able to partake of such a delight. It's a little pricey, but it's good. Love the potato chip fries too, and they give out giant chocolate chip cookies--for free!
Most recently, I went there for a first-time-grab-a-snack-after-work date, and it was cool. It wasn't crowded at all and I think I like the happy hour menu better than the lunch menu. The torpedos (mini steak sandwiches)? Let's just say, if I wasn't there for a first date, I would've inhaled the plate.
Service is always pleasant and pretty quick. For lunch, though, it can get rushed. I recommend that you get there before noon or as close to it as possible  or you'll be stuck waiting for a table. I can only imagine how it gets before/after theater shows since the Cadillac is next door.
I tend to forget about this place when my co-workers and I are trying to figure out where to go after work for drinks, but it beats going to  crowded, loud Sidebar. Based on the raving reviews, I'm anxious to go and experience the "Liquid Lounge". I'm a sucker for sweet, non-alcoholic, mixed drinks.
I've been here several times. Â A couple times I went for a quick drink either before or after a show at the Palace. Â Another time for a company holiday party. Â Another time when a friend of mine was having her wedding reception at the Hotel Allegro. Â I always enjoyed myself, but I was always focused on the time - making sure I wasn't late for the show or whatever. Â But last night I stopped in for a cocktail and conversation with a friend after work, and I was able to relax and really appreciate the place.
The service has always been awesome there, but additionally they've got some REALLY good martinis. Â Last night, I had the Basil Limoncello Martini and I gotta say - LOVED IT. Â Just to be clear - I've had really bad limoncello martinis that are made with actual limoncello. (YUCK!) Â But this was just Belvedere vodka infused with lemon and basil with a lemon and basil garnish and it was delicious. Â Friends have tried the Blow-pop martini, the pomegranate cosmo and the rosemary la poire martini and they've all said good things.
The food that I've had there has been excellent too. Â The artichoke dip was great, as was the calamari and the coconut shrimp and thai chicken sticks. Â Yum.
The bar and tables are arranged so that even when it's full, you still feel like you can have a private conversation with the person you're talking to as well.
It's a block from where I live, so I'll be stopping by more frequently when I'm in the mood for a cocktail.
Went here post shopping, when Midtown Kitchen down the street closed their kitchen.
Not sure if the waitress just didn't give me hte beer selection or what, but it consisted of a total of 5 beers....meh...
duck quesadillas were delicious and the fries were crispy and flavorful.
Petite burgers were very blah...and excessively buttery
I mean, it's just not my thing. Â I'm used to dive bars and jukeboxes. Â The place was nice and small and very chic. Â ALOT of business people too. Â They have a martini menu and I ordered the pomegranate one. Â It was very good. Â Tried the chicken pizza too, that was good. Â I came here for a mixer, the atmosphere was nice and I liked the lighting. Â The martini was $10. Â
It seems like a good place to meet after work if you work downtown but it was kind of trek for me so I may not be coming too far into downtown to have another martini.
After a night of total debauchery at the Blue Stem and feeling drunk for the entire following day, I was incredibly grateful that Encore offers a variety of non-alcoholic mixed drinks in a section of their menu called "Detoxification."
INDEED.
Only bad thing about these detox drinks is they're sweeter than sweet, which doesn't always help someone who's trying to recover that delicate balance of stomach stability and non-fuzzy teeth. Â Don't scoff. Â You know exactly what I'm talking about.
This place is so solid for lunch. Â Sandwiches are big, fresh, fast, and delish.
With one exception -- in about 50 times going -- service has been great as well (exception being slow that one time).
I don't frequent it as a "liquid lounge" but have never been disappointed wit the food.
This is the newest place on my boss's radar for going out for relatively inexpensive cocktails after work. He doesn't drink beer, he's notoriously cheap and he wants to stay close to the office, so this fit the bill.
The drinks are mixed well - I didn't even really start to feel it until after 2 lemon drops and 1-2 margaritas... I can't speak for the food, as I have in the past blown all of my leftover calories on liquid refreshment. It is a nice place to get well-mixed drinks after work for a palatable price.
I had an hour to kill while waiting for the Boyfriend last night, so I decided to take my chances at Encore. Â If Jeannie had a bar in her bottle, this would be it. Â Imagine, if you will, crimsons, blushes, and purples, touching every corner of this place. Â Throw in a court jester's collar as the wall decoration and that's Encore.
They do have some inventive cocktails. Â I enjoyed the Black Jack - Finlandia Vodka, black current jam and cranberry juice, topped off with sparkling wine. Â A delish sipper minus the seeds. Â The Boyfriend had a dirty martini and it passed the test with flying colors.
For dinner, I had their grilled chicken salad and the Boyfriend had their chicken foccia sandwich. Â We both polished off our meals without batting an eye. Â
The bartenders are uber-friendly. Â Always making sure the patrons were ok, etc, etc. Â A shout out to Craig from Springfield, MO. Â Thanks for the drink and I hope you win your case.
Cheers!
I went here for a martinis after work thing with a friend of mine - we have plans to slurp down every specialty martini in the downtown area. Â Their online martini menu sounded appropriately frou frou, definitely right up our alley!
But then, :-( Â , turns out that was the old menu and they don't do that anymore. Â The new drinks menu was okay, but a little too involved or something, I don't know. Â The saving grace was our kick-ass waitress, Lucy, who was really into making sure our drinks were things we liked. Â She even offered to have the bartender recreate stuff from the old menu, but I couldn't remember more than one.
We had the artichoke dip and that was tasty, but I don't know that I'd come back just for that.
The lighting was good and the place itself could have a really good ambience, but as it was...I don't know. Â It left me a little cold. There wasn't really any music playing and the curtains were left open to the street even though it was night already. Â I think closing those at night would really help with the feel of the place. Â And bring back that old menu!! Â Either that, or update your website already.
Really, the stars are mostly for potential and Lucy.
This is a great loop lunch spot if you're in the area. Â Their menu is such that everything they serve comes out pretty quickly... Â You can be in and out in no time, assuming you don't have to wait for a table. Â
I really really like their muffaletta sandwich. Â I also like their beef brisket. Â Their homemade fries are great. Â And every day they make fresh hot chocolate chip cookies. Â Ask for one and you shall receive--free. Â But they run out of them so don't go too late or they'll be out.
I've gone a few times for martinis after work, they were always good and strong. Â They occasionally have happy hour type specials (1/2 price appetizers, etc.).
The food here is awesome. The drinks are awesome. The staff is awesome.
Lunch is not too pricey considering it is the Loop and the portions are HUGE. They give you the option to split with some one at the table too whereas some places down there scoff at the idea.
After work drinks or dinner is fun and fantastic. I love the staff. If you love a good martini ask Lucy for her Dirty - you will not be disappointed!
You've got to love a place that caters to the theater crowd and pours one of the best martinis in the city! Â
Look for the signature neon martini sign on the outside of the building next to the Cadillac Palace theater. Â After you enter the revolving door- you are immediately aware that this is no ordinary bar. Â The orange decor and drapery swathed booths make for an intimate gathering spot. Â If you want to watch all the people come and go- then grab a seat at the bar and forego the booths in the back.
If you sit at the circular bar you might be lucky enough to be waited on by Lucy who pours a great martini and can suggest cocktails to satisfy even the pickiest in your group. Â She also knows all the "regulars" and takes a minute to talk to everyone (the sign of a good bartender in my book) Â Their "menu" of drinks has so many options that it's best to just to ask your server for a recommendation if you don't already have a favorite. Â
Have never eaten here but it's great for an after the theater drink or two or three ( ! ) which is what I'd recommend it for.
