I stopped going here because there is a better chinese buffet on golf rd near walmart in niles. Went back recently because I did not feel like going far. Big Mistake! I ate half a plate and left. Food not fresh, and pans empty. It was only 7pm. Waitresses stand around on cellphones when they should be replenishing the food. The supposed to be white noodles looked dirty and the mongolian beef tasted like freezer and was tough like leather.  HORRIBLE, NEVER GOING BACK.

Of course, I was skeptical.  It's a Chinese Buffet.  There's a maximum level of "good" it can achieve.  Thankfully, it was a great experience and I will be happy to come back.  Let me also state that I am squeemish when it comes to Chinese food.  I have my rotation of 3 or 4 favorites and I don't venture out of my comfort zone often due to a lot of bad experiences in the past.  Highlights: HOT, fresh crab rangoon.  That's probably never happened before in the history of Chinese buffets.  Each tray was filled with what looked like fresh food, with the exception of one or two.  You don't get your own drinks-a waitress does.  I was afraid of this as I hate being trapped at a table with an empty cup.  They stopped by every 8 minutes or so.  Also, their soft serve isn't the weird watered down icy tasting kind.  It was creamy and delicious.  This was all on a Sunday at dinner hour.  Don't be afraid.  Oh, and bring cash to tip the waitresses.  Once you pay at the front, you can't add anything to your credit or debit receipt.

I've been here a half dozen times over the years of working in the area. Usually the food is decent quality for an Asian buffet. Once there was a hot buffet out with refrigerator cold food on it, which would have been nice to know before I mixed it with everything else on my plate (pay for wasted food by the pound they say?!?). Twice I've been there and it smells like a nursing home. The last time it smelled like a toilet was backed up in the back... so I've been taking my business to the hong kong buffet a mile away. I had to come back, here anyway, to write a review, since this place still gives me nightmares.

This place rocks. The food is always fresh and the hot and sour soop is great. Not too much starch. The staff are friendly and they are really great with kids in this place. It is certainly Americanized food in many ways, but the quality is always good. The sushi is good and fresh. Also, the 5 spices beef is very similar to what we have had in Taiwan. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants value, and needs a place where they kids can throw a dumpling and no one will kick you out.

This place does a good job, just like all of the China Buffets.  It is hard to get a refill but that's because the waitresses are jaded, which I would be too if I had a lousy job like that.  thanks to other yelpers I made sure to order a glass of water with my soda. Whatever their problem, though, they offered the same stuff I've seen at other places - the Buffet on Addison and Kedzie serves many common dishes.  :

I went up twice and got:

Wings (Jumbo, very meaty, and good.)
egg roll (pork, nothing to write home about but bland enough for a 5 year old)
vermicelli with vegetables, I really love this dish.
    Garlic and onion green beans
    vegetarian egg foo young
fried breaded shrimp, and I made cocktail sauce with wasabi and ketchup in a soup bowl.
    pepper steak
    california roll
    ebi (cooked shrimp sushi)

and for dessert, a little cup of soft-serve vanilla ice cream.

It was really quiet, I went on a Thursday night at 7 or so and there were maybe 7 occupied tables at the most.  I brought a book with me and got a few hours of reading in.  So it was good, and I know I'll be back.  I think I'll go for the lunch though, because I like saving a few bucks and I don't like families.

My stomach immediately regretted today's lunch decision. Very sub-par Chinese.  Most everything at the buffet had obviously been stewing a while and appeared slimy and/or dried out. On the off chance they brought something fresh out, it paled in comparison flavor-wise to other Chinese buffets I've visited along the way. Service was decent, but far from praise-worthy. You get what you pay for here, $7.77 lunch buffet, complete with post-consumption regret and overwhelming stomach and bowel irritability. Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere.

I went to eat here yesterday with my boyfriend and seriously I had better food than this craptastic excuse for a buffet. The food looked gross and even some things tasted nasty like the chicken noodle soup. My boyfriend said when I placed the bowl on the table that there was more chicken and veggies than noodles so it should be chicken vegetable soup. He was right because the soup had more chicken and veggies in it and they used vegetable broth instead of chicken broth to flavor the soup-anyone who has made chicken noodle soup knows how to make it right. The crab rangoon was sweet and soggy and I've had better where the crab rangoon had a normal cream cheese taste and was slightly crisp.

The veggie egg foo young looked dry and overcooked and I did notice that they will hit you with a $50 fine if you waste food. I mean seriously why fine someone for wasting food that is in poor quality. Most of the food was either way overcooked/undercooked-like the garlic bread and again my boyfriend had to ask them to make a fresh batch since the first one(which was stale) per his words were "It tastes like soggy a** like they got a loaf of bread and put butter on it and threw it in the microwave and called it a day". The customers who slowly came in were asian you didnt see any other ethnic group come in to eat which kind of reveals the nature of the people who run this place. You can buy food by the pound, and I wouldnt be surprise they price gouged the amount per pound. They also act kind of funny towards you and they're lucky to even get your buisness because the quality of the food speaks volumes.

Most of us who like buffets have probably been to better places like Golden Corral or Old Country Buffet where the food doesnt taste like someone threw it together and called it lunch or dinner. The Hibachi Grill in Matteson is better than this place at least the food tastes good, but what is up with the waitstaff asking for tips.....I mean come on you have to give good service to make a customer really serious about giving you a tip. It's tacky to ask for a gratuity and my boyfriend gets tips all the time from his regular customers from his job working at a grocery store, but he never asks for gratuities he earns it by giving good service. Are these people aware that if your service sucks then don't expect someone to give you a tip and I didnt tip the waitress since her service was craptastic and just low in standards for a decent professional.

She gave me a dirty look when I was leaving with my boyfriend after she noticed that I didnt leave a tip....why should I when she gave me the wrong drink I asked for root beer easy ice and my boyfriend wanted pepsi with easy ice and she came with two pepsis with easy ice. Unless she was too lazy to get a simple order right she must have had a major chip on her shoulder. These servers who have chips on their shoulders are going to really see how fast tips dry up because a paying customer doesnt want to deal with a server's nasty attitude.

I mean if you want mediocre and crappy then this is your spot and if you are one for good buffet food go someplace else where you know the service is to acceptable standards. They also have a party room for groups, but even then you wouldnt want to bring a group to eat there if the food is not up to par. When my boyfriend and I walked in the lights were out over the food area like they were closing early due to low patronage and some of the food needed to be changed on the bar and that's why I won't be eating at this place again.

The exterior and foyer are drab at best.
Bad prices which you pay upfront.
They were out of or didn't have most of what I think of as staples for Americanized Chinese food (sweet & sour chicken, sesame chicken, lo mein, wonton soup, etc) and the things they did have were bad. Sooooo bad.

They also had "pizza," tacos, and a bunch of other random stuff that didn't belong.

The decor is mainly comprised of signs that others have mentioned - threats to charge you $50 if you leave any of the food you take uneaten. Um, folks, I'm pretty sure the excessive charge for weekend buffets will cover any losses...

Seriously, they should pay you $50 to finish it. I'd only go back on a dare where I got money in return. Lots of money. And Pepto. Because based on the stomachache (and other things of which I will spare the details, but lasted well into the next day) I developed WHILE still trying to stomach the things on my plate, I know I'd need it.

There are not words for this horrifying experience.

Reading the reviews of other people, I seriously think they must have been to another establishment, because this place made me do something I rarely do - I spit the food back out onto my plate.  And that was a feat, because there are signs posted all around about how if you "waste" food, you will be charged for it, and on the slip they hand you when you walk in, it says "Over wasting will be charged $50".  I was in fear that my discarded mouth food would incur a charge; luckily, I was spared the fine.

Trust me.  I didn't go into a Chinese buffet thinking I would be served the finest in cuisine.  I did, however, think that there would be edible Americanized Chinese food in sight, like an egg roll or some sweet and sour pork, but that was no where to be found.  This Chinese food buffet included hot dogs, french fries, pizza, and even tacos (all disgusting)!  The Orange Chicken tasted nothing like orange and everything like someone spilled a bottle of vinegar and orange food coloring in some chicken nuggets.  The sweet and sour sauce was ketchup wearing a halloween costume.  The egg rolls were inedible.  The only thing that ended up being edible was the vegetarian pastas, and the fried buns covered in sugar.  They had a cold bar with what appeared to be some type of maki rolls, but I have a thing about eating "sushi" that has been sitting on a buffet for God knows how long.

And the clientele - well, I can't even begin to go into it.  Let's just say people who eat here are bowling on the Stereotypes.  When we walked out there was a wheelchair parked in front with a plethora of bag-lady bags attached to it, and I kid you not.

There is definitely a reason that you have to pay first before they will let you see what is on the buffet -- because you would probably decide to go elsewhere, maybe the McDonald's across the street, if you saw the slop first.

Seriously, one of the most egregious gustatory mistakes I have make in the last decade.  Don't risk it.

    Great Food. Great Prices.

Like a typical buffet, you walk in, pay first and then have as much as you want.
The food tastes amazing, authentic flavor and a variety to choose from.  If you go there, you absolutely must have their Thai chicken! Juicy, tender, marinated chicken leg/thigh cooked to perfection  I love their marshmallow salad and Sushi. We have been there 2 times and every time we were stuffed and very satisfied.

This is not meant to be a fancy place, just a place you go for good food. Lots of it. Definitely worth a trip!

Me and my husband have been going here 1-2 times a month for almost 2 years now.

I will first say the only reason we continue to go here is we live 1 block away and love buffets since we like to have a little of everything.

This buffet is ever changing I believe from the major changes that they must change there cooks often or whoever is supervising the cooks.
The Orange chicken changes often in its taste and quality sometimes its soggy and average sometimes its overpowered with real orange peels in it and sometimes its crisp with just the right tang and texture.

I love getting a bit of sushi and I must say expect the absolute worst here. It used to be 2* before they started putting cream cheese in every piece they make now its -1* as it boarders being too old to safely eat and so soggy it falls apart.

The Mongolian beef is one of there better dishes and we enjoy the fried shrimp but its not always there.

If you dare go here after reading the reviews the best times to go is around 4:30 any day of the week and better on weekends. The reason is to get freshly made food and all the hot plates will be full.
If you go during week days much of the food is put out over and over again accept the most popular dishes.

    The waitresses are nice

    Update---------------------------------------

The cashier who seems like she is probably part owner was very very rude with my husband. While he was taking the money out of his wallet she leaned over and grabbed it out of his hand while she was talking on the phone. When we walked in he said hello 2 times but she was so busy on the phone she did not care.

    Very Very rude !

The quality of the food overall was not that good, BUT they did offer a lot of seafood choices, like crab, lobster rolls, sushi (looked dry) and crawfish.  Also the garlic bread was good.

Overall, the food tastes as good as the restaurant looks---don't bother.

Sometimes I crave the most crappy of foods.  LoL.  I love crappy Chinese buffet when on hang overs, but in this hang over, I still realized that the food here is garbage.  I'll admit though I've had this garbage before, but any time I do visit I try to leave a space of a year in between visits, hoping it could get better.  But, that is never the case.  When a Chinese buffet opens its always best that first year or two.  Then it's downhill.

Where to start, the BBQ ribs were soaked in marinade for days.  You could taste the age of the ribs, it was the ripe age of old and nasty.  The marinated pork was gross as well.  I hate the taste and flavor of old meat.  You know when you are chewing into it, the taste of freezer burn and days of sitting idle.  It's a joke when they drop it in sauce and let it sit in a slow cooker for hours thinking they can fool you into thinking it's still fresh.  Some items were decent, but this isn't Old Country Buffet, why the hell do people come to a Chinese restaurant and eat cheese pizza and french fries?!!?  My friend answered that question, he wasn't happy with my choice for lunch here after sampling many of the dishes.  He quickly switched to sweet buns, pizza and plate fulls of steak fries.

The sign says $9.95, your receipt says $10.99.  WTH right?  Counter guy says it's all tax, pay it or leave.  Had I been Moe or Larry from the Three Stooges, I would've slapped the crap out of this guy.  Food was par, definitely not good.  If you are really in need of good Asian food, head to Eng's Asian food, its 2 blocks south on the West side of the street.

I'd say this is definitely the best Chinese buffet I've been to on the far north side of Chicago(not as knowledgeable about ones in the north suburbs), and equals the former Chinese buffet that used to be in Niles near Wal-Mart in quality. And of course, blows Hong Kong Buffet away. Friendly staff, very decent prices, food is changed often enough and never out too long, and of course it's has that inescapable but normal hit-or-miss quality about buffet food items that all buffet places do. :)

And located right by both a Dollar Tree and a Unique Thrift Store for your cheap shopping needs! What can be a better reward to work off all the food you eat than that?

This buffet has quite a selection from appetizers to ice cream.  Lunch is a bargain.  Unlimited soda is served to your table upon request.  You pay as you enter. Looks are deceiving.  It is a diverse neighborhood and residents know how to spot a bargain. Casual with a diverse economic and ethnic crowd.  Kid friendly since the food is ready and waiting for them.

I've been here a couple of times, my friend loves this place.  The lunch buffet is a great deal... all you can eat + drink for $7.  I don't know many places with prices this low.  The place is pretty busy for lunch and waitresses bring your drinks.

This place has all the typical Chinese dishes... sweet and sour pork, mongolian beef, seafood medley, etc.  They also have pizza, fries and other random food.  I like their fruit b/c it's fresh but I would never touch their fresh oysters (... don't trust the "fresh" part).

If you're up north and are craving Chinese food, give this place a try.

Rating only applies to the Lunch Buffet.  At dinner the place is often swamped with little kids running around and frankly I like what they put out at lunch better - it just seems fresher and I really like their Egg Foo Yong (especially with the ginger gravy/sauce on top of Fried Rice.)

LOTS of traditional  chicken, beef, pork and vegetable dishes and even some decent  fish and seafood items (like baby shrimp, bay scallops and fake crab. Also two variations on Mussels - one in a bean sauce and the othe topped with Cheese (?!) - both can be very good depending on the quality of the mussels...

Vegetarians can do fine here - nice fresh steamed broccoli and green beans, mushrooms, fried rice and a couple of meatless noodle dishes. Two soup options, a very respectable salad bar (usually with some good fresh fruit.) and even "sushi"!  A small but decent dessert bar and self-serve-soft ice cream.

I think the lunch buffet is still around $6.95  - which makes it a VERY good deal - especially if you choose thoughtfully (Also, if a dish you like is running low - they are usually pretty prompt about bringing out new fresh stuff, so it's might be worth waiting a few minutes while you nosh on something else.

Little kids and chronic junk food eaters will find such oddities as pizza, french fries, beef "tacos" (quite tasty - but more like empanadas) chicken wings and even those Crab Rangoon things some some people love. The buffet comes with your choice of beverage (soft drinks, tea and lemonade which they will refill if you ask - and you should probably ask for more napkins - especially if you're eating the mussels or chicken. They also offer two soups: Egg Drop and Hot and Sour (to which you can all kinds of ofher "accompaniments" like veggies, chix/meats or potstickers and dumplings. Two kinds of fried rice and two noodle dishes. There is certainly a great variety and selection.

This is standard fare, very competently prepared - they do have some condiments to spice things up - Dinner and weekends are a little more expensive (like ($9.95 or maybe $10.95) and much busier - but they serve more seafood options like  peel-yourself shrimp and snow crab legs. I've seen people who pile them high on plates probably eat  like 10 lbs of them.

It's a good idea to do a "walk through" before you start loading up your plate - so you get a feel for everything they have further up at the four large buffet "tables" (plus the Salad Bar!)

Definitely a good fill'er up cheap eats place with plently of free parking.

One note of caution: DO NOT try to sneak any leftovers on your plate into a plastic/doggy bag you have hidden in your purse. The staff has eagle eyes and you will be embarrassed when they catch you!
