So i went here the first time thinking it wasnt that bad. The second time I went here it was super busy and i did not like it at all.
I went with a group of four and we were seated really close. I am talking our tables were like 2 away from the next table. It felt even more cramped because they were like really really big dudes and they were there to run this buffet into the ground by eating a whole mess of food. Besides the fact.
The food was just not good at all. Maybe it was because it was super busy or I dont know. I kept having to ask to refill my drink. The food was just a typical low class buffet. I would not recommend this buffet. I have been to much better all you can eat buffets that have a bigger selection of food that tastes good. Their sushi, I wouldnt even bother eating. I never get sushi at a buffet but their sushi looked like the fish was really old and it was sitting out the whole day. The crab legs took forever and a day to restock and they were very salty.
Overall I would not come here. You pay for what you get.
i have gone ther many times, and still didnt learn my lesson. if you king crab legs, don't go!!! they are not fresh, and you actually have to fight with a line in order to get a decent amount on your dish. when you ask a worker, politely, when the next batch is coming out??? they reply "no english" when it comes time for the bill. the english is clear. honestly, there is not one person in that place that is a legal, or has tried to become a legal american. eight years is all i can say. do yourself a favor. there is a new place that opened, that i hear is great!!!!! lets try it.
Review Source:My girlfriend and I are here at least once a week. I only eat the healthy stuff. First is salad then I make my own soup using the wonton broth. I add sliced chicken from the chicken and broccoli and some lo mein noodles. Then I go to the Mongolian bar and throw in some bean sprouts, green beens, carrots and celery and corn. I also get the Mongolian Bar as my entree. The carved turkey is usually good. Fresh fruit is hit or miss but getting better with the season,
I do not eat anything fried and do not eat seafood so for what I get, I am satisfied.
The servers are very friendly except for the woman that change the food. They are rude and loud..all they do is scream into the kitchen. They are very discourteous and will bump you out of the way to put the food out. They have no manners at all.

What kind of meal can you get for $12 these days? Some kind of chicken dish at your local TGIFridays? A super-sized meal at a fast food chain?
Well, at Newburgh Buffet, you can get SEAFOOD X INFINITY (to the infinitieth power). They have it all: snow crab legs, blue crab, calamari, steamed clams, raw bar and more. In fact, Newburgh Buffet takes the best of Chinese take out, American comfort food and Japanese(ish) deliacies, jumble them all together and supply them in mass quantities for your convenience.
Now, to be fair, it would be crazy to expect expertly prepared, fresh-out-of-the-ocean fare from a restaurant with such a low price point. But even so, what you do find is that the food is always hot and the selection always appetizing. Some of my favorites include the coconut shrimp, the snow crab legs, the salt & pepper crab and the stir-fried green beans.
If I ever get stranded somewhere without food, Newburgh Buffet, I'll be thinking of you. Â
Yuhe's Suggestions:
- Come on the weekend! Because there are more people on the weekend, you can always expect fresh food to come out of the kitchen. However, there may be a bit of a wait and you might have to fight some people for the good stuff (crab, shrimp, anything on the half shell).
- Skip the sushi. Sushi that's been sitting in a Chinese Buffet should never be trusted.
- Get your hands dirty! It may be tempting to just stick to the "spoonable" dishes but the variety of crab and shellfish is really what separates eating at Newburgh Buffet from eating at any other Chinese take out place.
We come here about 2x a month. My husband likes the crab legs. I like the wontons, cold shrimps and believe it or not they have the best spare ribs ever.
I don't really like the atmosphere it tends to get loud and The way some people act just make me not want to go back. We use to go almost evey week then something would happen and I would say I'm not coming here any more. Â If you get there earlier its better.
We came here after apple picking nearby and this was a recommended location. After trying this, I will not be returning. Of many Chinese buffets I have tried this would not rank in my top 30.
The buffet area is nicely decorated. The rest of the place is mediocre and feels more of a larger take out restaurant. There is a variety of food but most of it was soaked in oil. The salt and pepper crab wasn't bad and neither were the sushi rolls. The faux ice cream was a good end to this meal. The food overall tasted like it was from a small Chinese takeout joint rather than a large buffet spot for the amount of money charged for this.
My parents are Chinese buffet connoisseur's, they travel near and far looking for the best and once they deem one no good we no longer go there! Â Their current buffet hard on is this one and it is quite tasty!
On a weekend when DH was away for work I spent the weekend with my parents and they took me here and I couldn't stop raving about how much better it was than to one we were frequenting! Â I felt the meats they used were better quality especially and that is high on my list of importance. Â I made DH so jealous that he insisted my parents bring him to this mecca which they did and he happily agreed that it was a good buffet.
It was our fuel up station after a long walk across and back the Walkway Over the Hudson. Â A great reward after some hard work ;)
Wife and I really like this place, though we do find the dinner pricey compared to lunch with not much of a difference at the buffet. Â Lunch specials are good (about $7 per person) plus drink. Â Waiters keep the tables clean as you go for food. Â Once you get desert they bring the bill.
