Great Ka-Bob. The Pumpkin Borani was amazing, it sounds strange (Pumkin marinated in oil/pepper/garlic and topped with jalepenos) but it was truly incredible.

I love eating in their backyard oasis!! The food is great, although the service has some room for improvement. I've been here a few times now and love the atmosphere.

Great, great, great place!

I organized my fiance's birthday party in this location, it was a surprised bday party/dinner. Invited over 30 people, and required a lot of planning and organizing prior of the event to make this happen!

She was blown away and very surprised, the staff of this restaurant was amazing and went out of their way to make things go so smooth!

I originally wanted to reserve the small corner area for the event, but was told I had to reserve it all night and had to have a guaranteed amount on the check that night or I was responsible for the difference. Instead the owner of the restaurant recommended me to reserve another location in the restaurant (other side of the restaurant across from the bar) which actually worked out PERFECT.

We walked around the wall/corner not suspecting a thing, and SURPRISEEEEE!!!

The staff again was great and very attentive, they accommodated everything for us. The only thing is they did not split the bill for everyone, so gathering everyone's order was tough, especially such a high bill and orders of mixed drinks and food.

None of the less, the food, service, drinks were amazing.

I would most definitely return.

Something about our waitress just rubbed me the wrong way. Don't get me wrong, the food gets 5 stars, the pumpkin borani was awesome, but every time I interacted with our waitress she just had this attitude. Everything she said just had a little bit of stank to it, I can't really put my finger on it.

Our waitress was an older lady and the whole experience just wasn't that welcoming. From the "Oh, you so you don't want any wine?" to our great little conversation when I was ordering my entree, word for word -

Me: "Is it spicy?"
Her: "No, not too much"
Me: "Can you make it a little spicier?"
Her: "That's about as spicy as it's gonna get"

As she proceeds to just walk away without saying another word.

The vibe she gave off that night was just so...snobbish. I know I'm not old and white lady, but jeez it's downtown Pleasanton not Beverly Hills.

Oh Yelp. I have missed you so. Damn me and my exhausted mind. But just as physical exercise weirdly gives the body more energy, I will now exercise my brain by Yelping more. Let's see if I can't make this review a mental Crossfit session...

Now the main reason we're all here (and hopefully you still are)... Oasis Grille makes me wonder why I even bother living in the valley at all... it seems like more and more of my favorite places to patronize are farther and farther from where I actually live. FAIL... but a fail on my part. Oasis just rubs that fail deep into my face, starting with the cocktail list and ending with the desserts. Everything I have had here hasn't just been "OK", it's been "when can I come back and order that again???". Shrimp kabobs are my personal fave. I love the cilantro chutney sauce so much that if given the opportunity to bathe in it, I'd go headfirst with a spoon (yes, I'm a disgusting human being, DEAL WITH IT). And let's face it... hand me champagne with strawberries and mint and I'm yours (I wish that was a joke). And yes, in case you were inwardly questioning if "yes, Ali, but the service? What of the service?!".. relax, really anxious reader... the service was excellent. Water refills were plentiful, dirty plates were taken away with the quickness and everyone was very pleasant, polite and helpful with suggestions. Overall, the only way I could be more impressed with Oasis is if they promised to come find me every day and feed me.

Epilogue: That was not so much Crossfit as it was a Richard Simmon's "Let's Sweat" VHS workout. I'll get 'em next time...

The biggest issue with Oasis is consistency.

We go maybe once or twice a month and 75-80% of the time I would say it's a 4.5 star experience. But the other 20-25% it's a 1-2 star experience. That is inclusive of the food, drink and service.
Consistency would bring this up and I do recommend it because the chances are pretty good you will get the 75-80%.

I would say 3.5 stars.

I came here yesterday with my wife to meet up with a bunch of friends for dinner, 10 of us in total. First the restaurant itself is very nice, seems like a good place to take a date out to. For our group we were sat a big round table which was nice so everyone could talk instead of being sectioned at a long table.

The service was good as well, the server came around pretty soon after we were settled and looked over the menu, the food came out in a reasonable time, and all the orders were correct.

The food itself is ok, I had a a garlic lamb shank, and it was cooked and flavored well, but not the best lamb I have ever had. My wife had a mixture of the koobideh kabob and shrimp kabob. The koobideh was pretty good but the shrimp was about average.

The prices on the meals are not that bad as well. Overall it is a good place to try, and good date place to go if your in the neighborhood.

We have been to this restaurant 4 times in the last year and honestly would go more often because the food is delicious but the service is consistently awful and not worth going often. It's near impossible to get bread and water. They serve you 4x4 inch squares of bread in a small basket (approx 2 per person) and even if you order an appetizer that goes with the bread we have consistently had to beg for more just to finish the appetizer and it still takes forever for it to come to the table. They are definitely understaffed. You see your waiter when the order is taken and again when the food is served and that is about it until you've finished eating and your water glass has been empty for 20 minutes. This happens everytime we go and so we are going to find another place to eat Mediterranean food. It's not worth the aggravation. .

We had dinner here last week with some friends and we were saying that between the four of us we have always had a great food experience here.
I LOVE the chicken curry with brown rice and the gyro for lunch is more than enough.
A must have is the pumpkin borani, delish!
Keep up the good work Oasis, we will be back.

Happy hour everyday from 2pm-6pm? Yes, please.

My friend and I ordered three dishes and a drink each.

We ordered the flatbread with dipping sauces, grape leaves with yogurt and the pumpkin borani. The flatbread and grape leaves were $5 each and were on the happy hour menu. The pumpkin borani was on the regular menu but definitely a must do if you go here.

I grabbed a raspberry bellini and my friend got a mojito with pineapple. These were also on the happy hour menu at $5 each.

Overall, I dig this happy hour spot. It seemed pretty fancy and pricey during a regular hour.

Bring a date and claim a spot on the back patio if it's nice out. Staff were fantastic and we got piping hot flatbread. It was a little bit tough though now that I remember it.

For two drinks, two appetizers and an entree - we paid a little less than $20 each split between the two of us. Not too bad, considering a lot of the places in Downtown Pleasanton are on the pricey side. That's why I tend to not eat out in my 'hood much.

To me, this was just an average place.

-The location is nice. Located right on the street with a decent view depending on where you're sitting.

-The food is just OK. I'm fact, two people in my party didn't like the salad the ordered. We went for lunch for I had the gyro instead of one of their more filling plates. Gyros were good but I've had better at the gyro shop right next to my place in Seattle.

Don't think I'd come back if I had to choose but wouldn't mind it if a client or friend wanted to come.

Talk about some mediterranean food in a small town. I came too Pleasanton for my cousins wedding over the weekend. I never been too Pleasanton so decided why not walk around downtown Pleasanton get feeling of small town again. Not just Oasis Grille & Bar but found few more great spots for yelper too check out. It located in the heart of downtown Pleasanton. It basically one main road but talk about diversity of restaurants. You could keep going back for weeks and not eat at the same place twice. Other little antic shops even Primrose Bakery get too yelping soon enough.

I came here with my cousins so was able too try lot of different things. We started with sampler app. The five star was the garlic hummus. It was the perfect balance between garlic, chic peas, herbs, and smooth consistency perfect for spread on pita bread or just scoop all by itself. Yogurt based dip that was also tasty and the third good but nothing stood out since not remember.

Entrees I had the grilled chicken kabobs. I really enjoyed. The chicken was nice big pieces on skewers. All well seasoned and moist on the inside. The rice came with the dish was perfect compliment. My cousin guys ordered chicken curry and beef gyros. The gyros were ok. The chicken curry was pretty good too. It red based curry. It was nice hearty and perfect on cold day.

They have a cool patio area. One that you can people watch everyone walking along downtown main st. Some landscaping around with trees and just relaxing patio outside.

We found ourselves in Pleasanton yesterday evening and just happened to try this place since it was near our parking spot and had an outdoor table on the patio. We were so amazed how good the food was. We started with the spicy jalapeno hummus and it was fresh and creamy and delicious. We had a bottle of dry rose wine that was extremely reasonable and tasty. My friend had the shrimp kabobs which I got to taste and they were done just right with great flavor.
For my entree I had the eggplant borani and it was the best eggplant I've ever had. Cooked perfectly, so tender and flavorful, even the rice was delicious with slivers of carmelized carrots and raisins, so tasty. Good service too.
I'm definitely going back here next time I'm in town.

This place is awesome. The food is fabulous--very flavorful, perfectly cooked, and incredibly fresh. They have a great cocktail menu, and I highly recommend the Cucumber Cherry Martini, especially on a hot day. Our waiter Dominic was attentive, funny, and informative. He gave us great recommendations and was accommodating to one of our finicky guests. The ambiance is also perfect. It's romantic inside with low lighting, and the patio seating is great on a warm summer night.

We came for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The food is great and service is good.

For the food, the grilled lamb is very nice. The rice smell aromatic and taste so good we had to finish it all.

We also had sample platter. The pumpkin tasted so sweet. It is definitely memorable.

The only feeling I do not like is that the server did not charge me correctly on the final bill. The grilled lamb is listed on menu as $20. We were charged for $22. We asked about it, then $2 was deducted from the total but the tax and pre-calculated tip are still based on the wrong total price. Sure, it is only a few cents difference. But what should be right should be corrected. Who knows how many customers were charged incorrectly. Rule of thumb, always check your bill before you pay.

I got to say the server was at least very patient to make all the corrections afterwards.

Holy squash! Their pumpkin borani appetizer was so perfect! ::Italian motion of kissing fingertips:: LOL-- I'd give five stars for THAT alone. Make sure you order 1 plate of that, or 3 if you have a party larger than two. Believe me.

I must mention that the service was average for the romantic ambiance. Kinda expected a bit more since it seemed like a nice "date restaurant". I had the salmon and the hubs had the chicken pesto pasta. My salmon was ok but he didn't enjoy his dish very much. I don't think we ordered the right dishes, so I want to come back and try more of the menu.

I had a superb experience last night. My party ordered an aushak, chicken sabzi, and kabuli. For dessert we had tea (Tazo) and a baklava. Everything was great except the baklava, which was too brittle on the top and firm on the bottom, so I withheld a star. We couldn't even split the thing in half without using both hands. We came at the end of the day and might have had the worst of the batch, so I wouldn't be surprised if we were unlucky. I'll return their last star if I get served a better one next time. My aushak--like a mantoo but with scallion and cilantro flling and a spicy tomato meat sauce--was especially good. Great ambiance and service too. The tables are well separated so you don't feel cramped.

This place has much going for it. If I'm back in the neighborhood I'll glady return.

I think I ate the best salad ever - spring mix greens, grilled shrimp, sliced strawberries, pistachios and raisins (interesting!) with a honey-raspberry vinaigrette. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and had a good bite to it. All the flavors melded very well - sweet, tart, salty, burnt. The pumpkin borani with a yogurt sauce was also pretty good.

The prices are decent for a nice American restaurant.

What a great dinner experience.
From the Bartender during HH , to the food, the service , everything was superb.

Drinks:
Sangria- definitely order this. The bartender doesn't only put red wine to give it a little kick
Pumpkin Boriani- Really good appetizer
Stuffed cucumbers- good but wouldn't order again
Flat bread with different dipping sauces- yummy
Grilled Lamb - Really good
Garlic roast lamb- tender, falls off the bones.

Will definitely come back here if I'm back in Pleasanton

My boyfriend took me here on Friday for dinner. The place is fancier than any Mediterraneans restaurant, I've been to. I love the idea of it and that it has 4-star review. Fancier meant a more expensive than the usual too so that kind of give you a higher expectation.

I wanted to the Oasis Mix Grille Kabob Tiger Prawns and Lamb but did not have the lamb, so I settled with the Shrimp Kabob and Koobideh Kabob. The shmrip was good but the Koobideh which is a ground sirloin blended with other spice was very dry. I did not like it. The Pumpkin Borani was a hit, but my main course was nothing like it.

Every time i come here i always tell myself that i am going to try something new.... but once i sit down and the aroma of the room starts to hit, i always go back to my normal menu options.

** For starters i love the flatbread and dipping sauces. you get a basket full of warm bread and then 5 different sauces to taste with. my top 3 favs are the cilantro chutney, garlic yogurt and the classic hummus

** For Dinner i always have to get the Koobideh Kabob with seasoned rice. Their Koobideh is amazing (my breath not so much after the meal).

i am always looking forward to my next visit to this place.

Carissa's first day on the job and she was great. I had lamb chops and Sue had the lamb shank. Both were excellent. You gotta just grab the bone and eat it like a caveman or else you will miss the best part of the chop. The place is packed with an upscale crowd and everyone is so nice here. I love living in Pleasanton!

I came here about a month ago for dinner, showed up early and decided to sit at the bar for Happy Hour. Prices for happy hour are definitely affordable and the drinks are made strong. I had a nice conversation with one of the bartenders that night and he was sweet enough to teach me about some of the liquor they had there. My aunt finally got there to join me and we were seated immediately. Our server was polite and very sweet to us and offered us a bottle of wine because we were going to be having two glasses of the same one anyway. I ordered the flat bread margarita pizza and she ordered shrimp and beef skewers.

PROS:
-everyone was very nice and service was fast
-food quality was great and portions were huge
-alcohol is made strong and not watered down

CONS:
-prices were a little too high for my taste

I suggest you go here during happy hour, that way you get your money's worth!!

We enjoy Oasis, but there customer service does not always measure up to their food. I had never had Mediterranean food and was hesitant, but it's soooo good! We have had lunch, just appetizers, and dinner there. We really like the pumpkin borani, the bread with the dipping sauces, and the happy hour prices. Their pizzas are good and sometimes I get the chicken kabobs. I like that waiters can suggest menu items to me too. Their food deserves four stars.

Each time I go, I don't always feel that the customers are their priority. Sometimes we have had to seek the waiter out when we order, sometimes the waiter never checks up on us for drink refills, and one time the waiter told me I couldn't use the coupon I had from http://www.restaurant.com. I didn't fight it when she told us that, but her reason was so bogus: it had to be used at dinner service only and she said that since we came before six we couldn't use it. I was paying my bill at nearly seven and had ordered dinner, but whatever. I will use it another time. We enjoy the food, it's prime location downtown, and the energetic vibe of the place keeps us coming back.

We went to this place for a company dinner. It was good and service was good also. I just can't give the service a better rating than good. I will go again to see if the service improves. It can't be because they were over extended that night with business.

Came here for my best friend's birthday dinner on a Saturday night. We were seated way off in a corner of the restaurant. This meant the service was bad. No one came to check on us and we always had to physically go out and find a waiter whenever we needed something (especially as it got later into the evening and we needed the check).

The ambiance is intimate and elegant. As I mentioned, the service was a miss and it took forever for our food to come. Granted we had a big party (just over 10 people) but we waited a very long time for our entrees.

The food was overpriced and mediocre. We had the pumpkin borani which was good but I'm not sure what the big fuss is about. We also had the Tour of the Mediterranean (sampler dip). The flatbread was soft and warm but the dips were OK: spicy spinach artichoke, hummus and cucumber salata. Everyone liked the spinach artichoke the most.

I had the grilled salmon (and so did half of our table) and I was very disappointed. Yes, the portions are decent but for the price, I was expecting way more in terms of taste. The salmon was cooked well but there were parts of it that were way too salty and other parts that were very bland. The salmon came with garlic mashed potatoes which was actually pretty tasty--until you get through half of it and it becomes too much. I couldn't finish the dish. Afterwards I felt very heavy and kind of gross. The food is filling but not satisfying.

My boyfriend had the lamb shanks and it was also lackluster and disappointing. It had a lamb taste but the texture was weird. Maybe this is how lamb shanks taste like, we've never tried before.

The birthday girl ordered a glass of sangria which was terrible. It was so watered down and tasted like grape slushee. It even looked like grape slushee...

Overall, the food is alright and the service is alright, but the price is ridiculous for this type of food and service.

I decided to take my family here with some friends and we had a great time. The atmosphere was very nice and the food was amazing.

We tried the Oasis Curry and Mantoo. The curry was good and the Mantoo was definitely a dish I would order again.

The place was very kid friendly too. Margarita pizza was a big hit.

The service was very good. Polite, friendly and attentive. The food was disappointing. I tried the spicy masala pizza and the chicken kabob.
The pizza had a hint of masala and absolutely no spice (despite the jalapeño slices on top). The chicken kabob was moist, but the marinade was too subtle. The garlic yogurt sauce was so garlicky I sent it back and tried the cucumber salad (too minty). If they combined the two they would have at least had a decent tzatziki sauce ( which is authentically Mediterranean).
I was really hoping the place would redeem itself with dessert, but they ran out of the lava cake.
I had no idea the food was so bland based on the tables around us with people seemingly enjoying their food. Total let down. It had great potential but fell short in every way (except service).

Such a wonderful Mediterranean touch to the Pleasanton area.

Perfect for a brunch with loved ones during spring and summer as you have access to the gorgeously well kept garden.

Dark and romantic interior perfect for dates or anniversaries with a special someone.

An excellent list of wines and plenty of small to larger meals to enjoy.

The staff needs some work/training to bring this place to a higher level of elegance. Still though my waitress was kind and friendly, just perhaps to casual for the higher dining theater that could be expected from such a elegant atmosphere.

Being new to the downtown Pleasanton dining scene, the $10 for $20 Yelp Deal was a major incentive to give Oasis a go. The atmosphere was very lively when we arrived on Wednesday night. There were all walks of local life: families with children, business men at the bar, ladies enjoying girls night out. Seemed to be a real crowd pleaser.

We immediately ordered a couple "glasses" of wine, which arrived in cute little carafes equaling a hefty glass-and-a-half (score!) If you dig Mediterranean food, the menu here is inspiring with all sorts of hummus options, grilled meats, and interesting veggies like the Pumpkin Borani (an absolute must-order). But, after feasting on the Oasis Sampler and the Tour of the Mediterranean platters, I felt that only half the food was tasty (pumpkin borani & spinach artichoke dip were fab), the rest was just okay / somewhat questionable (stuffed cucumbers, bland hummus, stale pita).

Since the service was really friendly and attentive, and the wine list is better than expected, I've gotta give Oasis some love. Next time though, I'll skip the sample platters and go straight to the good stuff!

I decided to come here for my birthday after my mom told me about the wonderful pumpkin borani. So we made the trek from South San Jose on a Monday night. The place was relatively busy for a Monday night, so that's a good sign!

Our waiter came by and took our orders for drinks and appetizers - we decided on the Malbec and to eat, the pumpkin borani (of course!) and the dipping sauces sampler. When the dipping sauces came out, I was impressed with the bread (some of the best flatbread I've had - it was soft, crunchy and hearty all in one!) however, I was somewhat disappointed with the sauces. My family seemed to like the jalapeno one, but I thought it tasted too tart for my liking. I did enjoy the cilantro chutney and hummus, but nothing I would probably order again (esp since you get to chose a sauce with your entree dish). In any case, I think they should give the sauces out complimentary, since it def was not worth the $7 (or however much it was).

The borani did not disappoint, and everyone at the table enjoyed it - so much so that we ordered another helping. It is a very unique flavor -sweet, tangy, spicy all in one. We asked for the jalapenos, which I would definitely recommend since it adds an additional layer of flavor and texture.

For the main dishes, we went crazy! Here is a peek of what we got:
-chicken kabobs: HUGE disappointment! The meet was dry and not at all succulent. Some of the worst I've had at an Afghan place. It came with some mashed potatoes, which were decent though I would have liked them to be less garlicky (a first for me!)
-oasis curry w chicken: this was pretty good. It reminded me of chicken tikka masala at an indian restaurant, though not as good (okay, I am biased!).
-masala flatbread: my mom loved this, and she is not a fan of pizza. But i think the jalapeno topping is what really did it for her. Note, this is more of a PIZZA and not a flat bread. It comes with about 7-8 slices and it's pretty filling!
-mediterranean salad: Nothing spectacular...not worth $10 for sure.

for dessert, we got the lava cake which was AMAZING! 5/5 stars for this alone!

So overall, this place was okay. I would give them 3.5 stars because it's a more americanized Afghani place than I was expecting and it was more more pricey than what you would expect in terms of food quality. The ambiance is nice and the bread is a MUST! the waiter was kinda rude at some points and did not seem too welcoming.

The yelp deal was a plus! But for some reason, they added in a 20% grauity....we didnt ask why, but it was weird.

Would I come back here? - only if I'm in the area with my mom and she was craving some pumpkin borani. Otherwise, no I would not.

Great place in downtown Plesanton! Actually came here on back to back nights unexpectedly. My girl and I wanted to meet for dinner so i quickly yelped something within the area. There's not exactly a bustle of choices in the Pleasanton area but this popped up with it's deservingly 4 stars. Had a great dinner with her and what do you know my mom asks for my opinion on a spot she found the very next day on yelp for my dads birthday and it so happened to be my newly found friend. Came back here that night and had an equally great experience.

The first night I opted for the chicken while my friend had the salmon. I actually enjoyed the chicken but absolutely loved her salmon. Which is exactly what I ordered the next night with its creamy mash potatoes and side of asparagus laying next to the oh so fresh and tender grilled salmon. Another favorite of mine that was rounding the table was the lamb shanks. OMG so tender! And to top it off, they make their drinks perfectly.

Aside from being just on the tiny pricey side, it was an awesome experience and would completely recommend this location if you're in the Pleasanton area.
