50 cent wings on Sunday...and they were actually good (bone in OR BONELESS). They serve a yummy bottled ginger beer named Crabbies, surprisingly delicious. Wait staff was very friendly, space was nice, good jukebox....just missing a crowd...maybe it's the construction in the area but for a Sunday afternoon it seemed pretty dead
Review Source:Surprisingly more full than other bars in the area (Sunday night). Ordered the ginger lemon drop - a bit too sweet for me but good. BF ordered the dragon slayer. I liked it better than mine, not too sweet! Kamikaze drink - par. First time trying a grasshopper, tastes like an Ande's mint.
While we didn't order door the sliders and the wings at the next table over look and smell DELISH!
First impression...a neighborhood bar for either locals or after work drinking. Nothing fancy but not a rat hole. However, the service and food sucks. Don't go in unless you have some time to kill. Prior to attending a concert, we stumbled upon this place. The place we wanted to go was packed and so we decided to give it a try. After waiting a half hour for a chicken burger and a steak, while watching the staff stuff there faces when the swinging door was open enough, we finally got our food. The chicken burger was on the low end of bar fare and the steak was served with a Jack Daniels demi-glaze that was more like a Jack Daniels Jolly Rancher that stuck to your teeth! Terrible service and food, even for bar standards. Never again.
Review Source:Pretty good....we first heard about The Office Bar and Grill at last year's Tacoma gay pride event where they had a table advertising themselves. Â I dont know what ties they have to the LGBT community here in Tacoma but was glad to see the so supportive. We went in to get a margarita for National Margarita Day and it really looked and felt like any other sports bar...not really a gay sports bar-esque trend that is going on but like any other sports bar. You can spot a few gays here and there and overall it did have a mixed vibe which is pretty typical for Tacoma. Our bartender was nice, the environment says sports pub and we enjoyed our margaritas...not my favorite bar of all time but pretty much enjoyed myself.
Review Source:The Office - what a great name for a bar. Â It can be so many things - an after-work bar (hence the name), a sports bar (hence the many TV's and spread out seating), and a late night hotspot (hence the location on Pac Ave in Tacoma, similar to Fremont or Ballard Ave in Seattle).
It is all those things.
First, let me address that I completely disagree with Jay H about the service. Â I've been here many times and always served quickly and pleasantly. Â In fact this last weekend, being home for Thanksgiving, I stopped in with some friends and we sat at the bar. Â Everyone around us was lovely - chatting it up, we had a few drinks sent our way (which always makes for a good night, hehe WINK WINK). Â
But what REALLY made it great were the two bartenders, Jenn and Chris. Â They were extremely fast, helpful but not pushy, and just fun people. Â Pic included of the duo (with their permission), Chris rockin' a Movember mustache to beat the band.
The Office is really clean. Â The ladies' bathroom is a single room with a lock so ya get your space and time. Â ;) Â Basically I've stayed until close and it's kept up well.
Lastly the food - also included a pic of the *Happy Hour Menu which is AT ALL TIMES, OPEN TO CLOSE, if you sit at the bar!*. Â The HH includes a range of delicious items either $2, $3, or $5. Â Man, it is refreshing to see some freaking sliders with some freaking fries, man. Â In Seattle they like to give you a little baby slider a la carte and call it good. Â (I'm lookin' at you, Barrio.)
A fun crowd, comfortable bar, good for watching sports or just having a meal. Â And it doesn't hurt that there's another Office bar in Pullman, at WSU. Â Yet another reason I like this place!
What starts out looking like a cool little bar on the Pacific strip of potential hot spots ends up falling pretty flat on its face.
Like most bars down on Pacific in Tacoma there is roughly 1 million more people trying to find parking spots than there are actual parking spots. I never hold that against a business though. If their only option based on their location is street parking then so be it.
Where this joint falls dead for me... and I mean dead dead not vampire undead where it can still walk around and bring my slobbering face food... is the service. I've never had good service the few times I've been here. I've been here when it's been packed out and I've been here when there are, maybe, 15 people inside. Always bad service. Seats can be taken and 10-15 minutes can go by before someone comes by to say 'hi' or drop off water and take a drink order. You can order drinks and wait 20-30 minutes for someone to come by again and take your food order. Once your order is taken you don't know if your whole party will be eating together or over the course of 20 minutes or so as the food isn't brought out at the same time. Drinks go empty and remain so. And I know what you're thinking... why don't you just flag someone down?! Right? Yeah, maybe if I had the lit air trafficker batons, my head was on fire and I was singing the Mickey Mouse Club theme song with Adele's voice while doing cartwheels... then maybe someone would realize there are tables in need of food and beverage.
So now that we have the atrocious service out of the way let's talk about the good stuff. Their blue cheese bacon burger is awesome. They aren't shy with the blue cheese and the bacon is crisp, tasty and of decent size. Their french fries are good and go well with their burgers or sandwiches. They have pinball and shuffleboard for entertainment as well as TVs with sporting events cavorting about in dizzying fashion. The bathrooms are typically clean and the lighting is good... it's not too bright for a bar but I'm also not scared of being ravaged by a werewolf in a dark corner and being left for dead.
Honestly if their food weren't good I'd avoid this place like a zombie My Little Pony but the food is good so I'll come here when my friends decide this is the spot.
Meh.
I have heard about this place and know it's the local after spot for Comeback Sports but have to visit until a brief stop through.
Walking in the place reminded me of Meconi's down the block, so nothing fancy. The bartender was meh, nothing more, nothing less. I had to ensure that I wasn't going to get the "house" vodka for my drink, she didn't seem to bother much with assuring me that I wouldn't get monarh:(
The music was ok for a Bar & Grill but the crowd really detered from the overall place and I could definately see with some changes a much better overall atmosphere. After only having 1 drink we noticed that the tables stating becoming bare and soon the place was only half at the most vacated.
Started coming here more when I got a job next door. Â As a frequent lunch guest, and occasional after-work patron, I love and appreciate the consistency in quality of the food (pretty standard bar food, but yum!) and excellent customer service. Â Always cool and refreshing to walk into, great during summertime! Â I consider The Office a valuable and friendly member of the downtown community.
Review Source:I went back to my home town recently (Go 253!) and found myself in The Office Bar & Grill in between looking for some things I had to bring back to Halifax with me. For as long as I could remember I walked past this place a gazillion time (okay maybe more like 15 or 16 cause really who is in Downtown Tacoma a gazillion times?) and never even gave it a second glance.
I was only in Tacoma for a few short days and vowed to try places I didn't when I was living there. The office qualified and so in I went for lunch.
I think this place is more of an "after work" spot with it's multiple large screen tv(s) and sports memorabilia so it was almost empty when we sat down. As a lunch joint this place would be a gem if the secret didn't get out!
Offering up the standard salad / burger / sandwich menu the Office has a pretty sweet $5.00 lunch deal (1/2 sandwich and any side - of which I choose tator tots!!). Because it was pretty empty we didn't have to wait long for our food and get on with the rest of our day.
They also do a 253 happy hour which looked pretty awesome as well. Items for $2 (cheese sticks, tater tots...) / $5 (quesadilla, chicken strips...) Â / $3 onion rings, soft tacos...) from 3p - 6p and 9p until closing everyday and on Monday's have a 2 burgers / 2 brews for $20 (pretty much like getting a free beer and who doesn't like free beer?)
The service at this place can be literally terrible. I'm not one to rate based on service, but seriously. I found it very off-putting. After we ordered our pitcher, they didn't even offer to get us food after more than an hour. We had to flag down the server in order to get our bill. We actually wanted to get food, but after that long, we just went to Meconi's.
I have been there when it was alright, but I think they need to take a serious look at the importance of good service.
This is my boyfriend's cousin's spot. He can leave his drink on the back corner seat of the bar, leave for an hour, and come back and it'll still be there with a coaster on the top that says, "For a good time call XXX-XXXX."
It wasn't really a phone number full of Xs. I just don't remember the number.
Anyway... it's a nice little sports bar. Foozeball table & shuffleboard table in the back, nice natural light in the front. They have plenty of TVs so if you don't want to watch the soccer game going on (ahem... like me) then you can watch the playoffs. Their happy hour deals are pretty nice and I am in love with their salads and sweet potato fries. They come with this fantastic dipping sauce that tastes like strawberry jam mixed with a little bit of ketchup. It's close to a bunch of other bars and the train so you can barhop or uh... train travel...?
Check it out if you like a laid back place to drink and watch your particular sport. And try the sweet potato fries.
Went here about a month ago for happy hour, after reading the reviews saying how great the HH was...................SIKE! That was not the case the waitress was incompetent and did not even get my food order correct which was only three things. To top it off my drink, a vodka tonic, seriously tasted like water. I asked for another one and she brought it back and it tasted like tonic water. My bf ordered an AMF and everyone knows those are strong drinks, his drink literally tasted like watered down juice. It was the weirdest HH ever, I mean Ive had weak drinks but never this weak and watered down. Would not recommend going here..............waste of time and money!
Review Source:Usually come in for trivia when I have Friday off. Â Always a fun time. Â Stop in with your friends on the weekend or whenever for the 253 happy hour but you MUST try the Office Burger! Â I was skeptical, but there is a reason it's arguably the best burger in town. Â Roasted red pepper mayo, bacon and coleslaw...that's a real thing. Â Ask about Kerry's Chicken Philly, mildly crazy.
Review Source:I came here last night for the first time admittedly for one thing only. To try the Tator Tot Nacho dish I had read about either in the TNT or the Weekly Volcano, I don't recall which. I was not disappointed. It's exactly as it sounds, you can order their nachos, and have the option of having it with tots instead of tortilla chips. Normally I may have given a 4 star, but... unfortunately the service really hampered my experience at this place. I don't like really affecting my ratings on a place solely on the experience with the staff, but this is one of those circumstances where I had no choice.
I have not seen a place this severely understaffed in a long time. The bar was okay, with 2 bartenders working. It was a saturday night, so the place was packed. But there was only ONE lady working all of the tables. It seriously took a good 30 minutes waiting to get our tabs so we could leave. Making matters worse, there were no tables available, so we were standing there right in the middle of everything with people trying to get by us. To make matters worse, the waitress totally messed up everything as bad as is possible. Putting my order on my friends card, taking my cash payment towards another, etc. you get the drift. Normally I would just destroy the employee in this circumstance, but she was literally covering a good 20 tables or so, the place was packed, and I am sure she felt like her head was going to explode. I don't blame her for messing up severely on our checkout, or taking an unbelievably longtime to get things resolved (all an all from the time we asked for our tabs, and the time it took to fix the error, it was about 45 minutes of standing there looking stupid) I blame it on the management at this place with not staffing an adequate amount of employees. I really did feel bad for the girl, so I didn't give her a hard time. I might give this place a 2nd chance. But I doubt it.
I have to admit- i come here when Matador is way too packed.
It's not a big place- and it gets crowded on the weekends. The bartenders are awesome. Very entertaining. The have a great selection of beer.
Food- I like their fries, tater tots and salads. That about it. They had fried mac and cheese which was really dry. I tried their bonless hot wings- they were small. Maybe because they were on the HH menu?!? Fried mushrooms- no flavor.
I'd come back again not my first choice though. But if you're looking for some cheap HH they have a 2$, 5$ and 3$ menu.
We went tonight on a Groupon. Â It was not the type of place we would have gone otherwise. Â We don't venture into Tacoma often, but I guess we should - we've not been steered wrong, Harmon, Varsity and now The Office - all great places. Â The Office was more bar than grill, but since we don't drink, we were there for the grill. Â The walls are exposed brick - awesome. Â The music was loud, but good music, and not so loud that you couldn't talk at a normal level.
But, how was the food? Â Food was awesome. Â We started with a chicken quesadilla. Â The tortilla was grilled so it was very crispy. Â Very tasty with guacamole and sour cream.
My wife had french dip and she gave me bites and it was really good. Â She had tots with hers and they, too, were tasty. Â I had a Bacon Bleu Burger with onion rings. Â The burger was charbroiled. Â Juicy and really good. Â (I do think I liked her french dip a little better, but the burger was still excellent.)
Service was by a heavily tatooed guy whose name I can't remember. Â He introduced himself and said he'd be our bartender, waiter, waitress and a few other titles. Â When we started, the place was a bit quiet, but by the time we left, the place was really hopping, but the guy stayed attentive the entire time, keeping our drinks fresh and checking up on us. Â (And he even knew about the GroupOn from the beginning.)
Our two meals + appetizer + drinks was $38 before the $25-off GroupOn which was a good price for that excellent food.
PROS:
They have a great menu to choose from like The Office burger (w/cheese, bacon, grilled onions and coleslaw), The Office nachos (tatter tots w/cheese, bacon and green onion!), spicy wings (crispy and coated with a delicious chipotle sauce), Cobb salad (fresh, big and add chicken for a dollar... I think). The other stuff my friends ordered looked good and didn't hear any complaints from them, except from one--See Cons.
The Happy Hour menu is sweet! 3-6 and 9-12.
They're very football (soccer) friendly, FSC is always on and they even have the Sounders supporter favorite Brougham Bitter on tap.
The staff is super friendly and efficient. I was pleasantly surprised when I came in and the bartender stopped tending to one of his customers to greet me with a nice smile and when I sat down the waiter came over right away...it's the little things that make a place special.
The place is very clean and the decor cool and simple, it's kinda trendy but they're not trying too hard.
CONS:
Parking can be tricky on the weekends, not their fault I know...
The Mac and Cheese bites were pretty disappointing. My friend ordered them because they sounded so good but didn't even finish them. The actual M&C was very bland and the batter or breading was too heavy, almost tasted like it was fried, frozen and fried again. An easy fix would be to season the mac and cheese and maybe add bacon or ham and then use panko breading instead.
The pros outweigh the cons so in my book this place rocks!
Meh is about right. Came for lunch on a weekday. It wasn't busy at all, but we still hardly got waited on. The sandwich and coleslaw was just okay; nothing memorable about either. It's in a good location, as there aren't many middle-range dining options downtown that aren't fast food. I am sure it's a fun place to be after dark.
Review Source:The best thing about this place is the bartenders!  They were super friendly  and not in an abnoxious, won't you please let us talk kind of way either!  I loved that he asked our names and remembered them the next time we were in.  The happy hour is great and the beer and wine selection is above average for this kind of a place.  I do agree with one of the previous reviews that it needs a little something more to make it stand out and make you want to go there over the many other options on Pacific.
Review Source:i liked he enviroment. I loved there house ale, The office ale by pyramid. the TOTS are awesome. but it is your standard ale house. nothing special about it. the food is good and any place that has tos is going on my list. But the short haired brunette was a horrible waitress! But charging me a beer when you never delivered and I am only 6' from the bar. then you delivered the wrong burger then tried to convince me that I would want this instead. WTF! is this your first waitress job? Then telling me it will be up in 5 minutes, when anyone in their right mind knows no burger can be cooked in 5 minutes. So it shows up 20 minutes later.
I would recommend this place for a nice happy hour or a pre-funk place. but I would strongely recomment staying away from the brunette waitress. LOL
There really isn't very much to say about this place. Went there with a friend and had a Dos Equis while he had a rum and coke. While drinking, the waiter, who was as cordial as most ordinary ones should be, informed me of the Taco Tuesday $2 for 2 tacos. Well perfect for me since I wasn't VERY hungry but wanted to have a little bite. The tacos were, well, tacos...plain and simple. As I could care less about sports, the flat screen TV's and such made no diff to me. One of the bartenders, a girl, either walks with a major swish or tries to overdo her strut so much that she actually hit one of the tables with her hips....which was funny. Yeah, a place like any other...nothing special, not an amazing menu either. Like one other reviewer stated....they need to do something to stand out more in my opinion. So-so, OK and that's it.
Review Source:I liked this bar, and I've been once or twice now. Â In a strange way though, I'm a little concerned for it... it's just enough like all the other neighboring bars that there's nothing to make it stand out. Â I hope it finds a way to differentiate itself a bit more so it remains successful.
That being said, good drinks and pretty good food as well. Â The staff is also particularly nice.
Remembered something about the write-up in the Volcano terming this place "the ultimate man cave". Â Invited out to celebrate a friend's birthday and we arrived a little early. Â Was about 30 minutes prior to happy hour, no biggie. Â Went ahead and ordered a bottle of wine and took in the surroundings. Â A little quiet for a Saturday night, quite a few people out on the streets seemingly going between The Firwood and Meconis down the street. Â After the rest of the party arrived, we were able to put three tables together with the help of our awesome kick butt server. Â And he even was able to wave the corking fee when the birthday boy brought his bottle in from dinner he purchased elsewhere. Â
Happy hour was awesome, 1.99 basket of tots w/ your choice of sauce - doesn't get better than that. Â Hubby and I shared an order of Sliders for 3.99 and we nibbled on some other fare at the table.
Wouldn't mind making this the next hang out - the service was great, food was cheap, and plenty of weird people watching, just like I expect in Downtown T-town!!
Place just opened. Â 2 thumbs up. Â They have Hamms on tap for $1.50 in happy hour. Â It's equivalent to PBR, but....I might give it the nod. Â And that's hard to do being that I'm all time fan of the "Blue Ribbon Award Winning Beer". Â
I ordered the chicken sandwich they have and it was awesome, Â extremely tasty. Â For good measure, I then ordered the chicken wings. Â They were good. Â Not as good as the sandwich, but good. Â No one beats the Matadors wings, IMO.
As for the perks of the bar....the box with all the games (ie. Photohunt), a pinball machine, shuffleboard, a couple other electronic games like golf and bowling, and a nice juke box on the wall. Â The friendly customer service definitely stands out. Â Whether or not it's because they are new or not will yet to be determined.
Now, for the ONLY Con, and what will prevent me from coming back here as often as I can and would. Â It's all about what are you going to do for ME as the customer. Â I was a bit disappointed to see that the happy hour menu is basically just a BUCK off! Â I can get a nice sized buffalo chicken pizza for 5 dollars at the hub (normally like 9 bucks). Â So at the hub, the knock off 4 bucks, but here, just a buck??
For me, it's all about the happy hour bargain if I'm going out - Bang For Your Buck. Â Come on guys, really...a buck off the food is the best you can do? Â Despite all the other greatness, I'll still wind up taking my business elsewhere. Â And actually, I"m headed to the hub right now...5 buck chicken pizza, how can you beat it?
Great staff! Great New York Steak! The salad w/ blue cheese was tossed perfect and delicious.  Demi glacé for steak was amazing. Bartenders are friendly and willing to make anything you like. Both owners were present and made the whole group feel at welcome. Pinball, video games and shuffleboard were a welcome addition to a great bar and grill.
