I've been eating here for several years because I can walk to it, but I think it's been going a bit downhill for awhile:
Wow, I thought it was just me, but was surprised that other people get diarrhea here too! Â Hamburgers, Calzones, etc taste great, but I only DON'T diarrhea if I get a pizza. Â If you ask me that's really, really bad. Â My wife seems unaffected though.
On the subject of pizza, they stopped serving their hand-tossed pizza in favor of an oil-soaked fried thin-crust about 6 months ago. Â First few bites taste great, but then I'm just disgusted.
I used to go here for a late happy hour for snacks. Â They stopped serving them in the main dining area and are only available in the bar, where the music is often too loud. Â Plus the snacks are such healthy things like pepperoni rolls, cheese covered fries, etc. Â Well, you get the picture.
Service has gone downhill too. Â My impression is they've cut servers, but I don't know for sure.
This is all not good, especially when a  BJ's Restaurant just opened down the street.
End result? Â I've pretty much stopped going here.
The good: they usually have a really good draft beer selection with pretty good prices. Â The World Beer Tour card is fun and is a pretty good deal with occasional freebies on it.
This is definitely one of the more "meh" Old Chicago's that I've been to. I love their food, and their beer selection, so I'm usually a fan.
This time, I went just for a drink at the bar, so I'll admit I didn't try the food. However, the bar experience definitely left a lot to be desired.
I ordered a gin and tonic and some pizza sliders to munch on. Our server was nice, but made some pretty rare appearances beyond getting our order and dropping things off.
Our drinks took about 10 minutes, which was a little long given the fact that there were maybe 4 other people in the bar area at the time. My drink was incredibly weak, and didn't even give me a buzz-kind of a waste of $6.
So despite friendly service, it was also slow, and the drink was weak and not worth the money.
I might come back again if I'm in FoCo for dinner, but I wasn't very impressed.
Used to love the thin crust pizza. Â Recently returned and they have changed the sausage and some other ingredients. Â No longer offer thin crust instead a fried disgusting crust pizza with new type of brekfast sausage. Â Pretty gross. Â Typical management cutting back on quality ingredients. Â If you liked the pizza before then dont expect the same as its now on par with Dominoes. Â Only at triple the cost. Â No thanks. Â Fire your management and bring back what made you a colorado staple.
Review Source:Yes, it is a chain and really the only place I can walk from my house in FoCo. Needless to say if you drink in drive in Fort Collins, you will likely go to jail.
I have been to OC in Denver and AZ and this one by far has the best staff. Attentive, friendly and they get the job done. Great happy hours, and specials on various days.
I used to be on the side of "How can those people let their kids act like that in public?" Â Now, I'm of the "If you have a problem with how the way my 7-month old throws her Cheerio's, you can take it up with the manager" set.
I love restaurants where we can meet our other friends that also have kids that throw things and meet for a beer and a meal of food, just before the tiny person meltdown sets in. Â And, Old Chicago on Harmony is just the place and has the patience for just that.
Families with babies and little ones require a little extra attention, and Old C's was right on top of everything for us. Â Extra napkins, carrots for the kiddos, servers completely uninhibited by the occasional scream from mighty little lungs. Â
Special beers always on tap, two happy hours a day, occasionally cheap eats, but always something for everyone.
Only thing that's a bit of the pain is the parking situation, but anything's better than street parking or the utter debacle that is Old C's Old Town FoCo Parking. Â I'll park at the bank and happily hoof it.
Great staff, good snacks, the only time I ever visit a "bar" anymore. Â Always a go-to though.
Two things always happen to me when I eat here, 1) I am always underwhelmed and 2) I always end up with diarrhea. Sure, you laugh but this is serious stuff people. Not your average run of the mill sh*t show but full blown explosiveness from down under. Trust me it's not pretty. So why you ask do I keep coming back...my friends are alcoholics. And this place has a great beer selection. Since I don't drink I'm not sure how many different beers they have but I know it's a lot. They offer a punch card of sorts as well and give you free gifts such as t-shirts and key chains for reaching a certain amount. And, get this, if you're anything like my friends and finish your "beer tour" you get your name engraved on a plaque. A freakin plaque people! That's no joke. So, if you're up for the challenge, loosen up those belts and give your car keys to a friend.
Review Source:Met the owner/manager at the bar and had a nice conversation. Â This place has a great vibe with friendly staff and patrons, as well as a great beer selection with tasty food. Â Parking was a challenge but it was happy hour. Â There's no doubt I'll be hitting this place on my future visit to Ft. Collins.
Review Source:You go where life takes you, right? Right. Well, that's what tends to happen when it comes to some of the reviews I write. I'm not always the one who plans where we go. Sometimes it's at the whim of whomever I'm following. And sometimes those places end up being chains that I'd otherwise not go to. Such is the case with Old Chicago.
We sat and talked, or at least I was able to hear those sitting right next to and across from me. It was so loud there that it was as if our group was split into two conversations because we couldn't hear each other. We should have started using the Baby Signs we use with our kids. We laughed about the music selection that was varied in taste and volume. For some reason, some songs were at a decibel low enough to hear yourself think, other times you needed to read lips.
My dinner was very average and nothing spectacular. The turkey burger had an odd charbroiled taste - metallic and chemical. The fries were...just fries. I was not impressed with the burger and there are much better options for better bar food around town.
After we ate, we hung out for a while. This is where service took a turn for the worse. While we were eating and ordering, it was fine. But, Old Chicago's prides itself on being a place where you can hangout with your friends, watch a basketball game while tracking your March Madness bracket, and not a place where you have to eat and run. We were pretty much ignored the rest of the night. I think our server actually left for the night (and it wasn't like we stayed until closing time or hogged a table during prime-time hours). If we wanted a water refill, we had to resort to looking around for unattended pitchers and fend for ourselves.
Overall, I'm not a fan of Old Chicago's. Some of their food is alright, but really, it's not that great of a place to hang out. 130 different beers or not.
The way my friends were talking about this place, it was awesome.
I have to admit, I was pretty underwhelmed.
The servers seemed a bit busy despite the amount of people in it.
The beer selection wasn't as impressive as I was hoping. 110 beers on tap (including Mike's Hard Lemonade?). The artichoke dip was excellent. Very creamy with lots of veggies and garlic bread for dipping. I found the pizza to be good. The crust was a nice consistency.
The meal ended up being pretty pricey. 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and 2 beers ended up costing us $55.
Just to let people know: I just moved here from Boston where the local beer bar (Sunset Bar and Grill) has 112 beers on tap and another 380 microbrews to choose from.
Nice happy hour specials and they have a kids eat free night. We like to go at happy hour (4-6) and get a happy hour pizza for like $2.25 with a beer that's $2.50 and play NTN trivia. Our kids enjoy the trivia as well. For under $20 we can all have pizza, mom & dad can have a beer and we can all play trivia. The pizza is good and the blue cheese salad dressing has nice chunks of blue cheese in it. Friendly service but I find regulars get much better service than those of us in every once in a while.
Review Source:Same old, same old. Â Nothing new about this place. Â
My one complaint would be that I asked our waiter his opinion of a special beer on their summer "mini tour" and he said, "yeah, it's pretty good" but neglected to mention that it would be like drinking liquid blueberries. Â Newsflash - that's an important piece of information!
Aside from the dearth of discerning waiters (don't count on any helpful critique) it was on par with any other chain sports bar.
