The Old Town Patio is a great place to hang out and have a cold beer & a bite without having to spend very much. Â The hot dogs & the chili are worth the trip alone - especially together. Â And where else are you gonna find Coors original on tap? Â Nothing better than a banquet beer on draft.
Review Source:After 24 years of owning and running the Old Town Patio, my mom Olivia, has sold the business and has RETIRED!
The Old Town Patio was sold to a new owner, so who knows if the OTP will be the same OTP as before, so just know that now if you are a returning customer.
Olivia, the founder of the OTP, cannot be replaced and will be missed by all her regulars- although she may now been seen on the "other" side of the bar! hahaha...
I've gone to Old Town Patio a few times when the neighboring Richmond's was closed, and a couple times with workmates for team meetings. This is a good, no-nonsense bar with some decent food, and great drink prices.
Having a patio is always a nice addition, as it makes for a great area for friends to sit around, have some drinks and some smokes. I had the salmon burger the last few times I was there--not on the menu at the time, but still available. It hit the spot. I've never seen this place crowded, and there is always plenty of room to join a few tables together and fit in a larger crowd.
If ever just looking for a place to lounge around and kick back some drinks, this place will not disappoint. Cash only.
Had a night on the quiet town of El Segundo and went here on the recommendation of a friend who ends up here often. Â We made our way to the back patio and found some tables for our group and got down to business. Â
The night was a bit of a blur, but I had a turkey reuben with no mayo, a cheese quesadilla, and 2 very big beers. Â The turkey reuben would have been much better if I asked for it with mustard, but it was still really good. Â Plenty of sauerkraut and turkey and nicely toasted bread. Â The quesadilla was standard but with the little extra of being served with a nice cup of standard, canned, salsa and a cup of guacamole that was half mashed up avocado and half chunks of avocado. Â Definitely not canned, definitely homemade with lots of avocado. Â That was a very nice touch indeed! Â I used a lot on my sammich. Â
The beer I got was shocktop, a good hefe all around. Â But it was CHEAP! Â 11 bucks for 2 huge mugs, that's really good. Â
Overall I was super pleased with the place. Â It had good bar food. Â No fryer, which was crazy, but just get a quesadilla on the side and you're not breaking the bank at all. Â Very nicely priced, great service although they could have come around a little bit more often. Â I'm a big fan. Â I love dive slash local places like this, and it might be one of my new favorite El Segundo hangouts.
I absolutely LOVE The Patio! El Segundo has some really great bars tucked away and this is one of them. Â No fruity cocktails with umbrellas, no happy hour, no techno crap music, just HUGE glasses of ice cold beer for $5 and a great patio you can lounge and smoke.
Now that's my idea of a bar!
My friends band was playing there. <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DTjiNkzFEpiQ&s=110228c914f1e411c4c12989e0f2d78c1aeb8de3824c4b77e0be625a1af93ab4" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.youtube.com/w…</a>
I have never been there before since El Segundo isn't really known was any happening place. A nice neighborhood bar. LARGE patio area. Beer price was way way way CHEAP! Â CASH ONLY
On a Sunday, came to the large patio that you can reserve for private parties. Â El Segundo is weird. It's 1950s middle America Mayberry surrounded by LAX, Chevron, and a Sewage Plant. Â There were anti Obama stickers in here. Â Really?
Cheap good beers. Â But I don't know how the food was because they decided to stop serving food at 4p. Â They said that's when the kitchen closed. Â But they never told the party renters this fact. Â We heard later that they wanted to close the kitchen because there were too many people ordering food. Â So which was it?
This place is in a great little area of El Segundo. The area looks like it dates back to 90 yrs ago . Who knew El Segundo had this kind of charm in the shadow of the Chevron Refinery? Well, it was the oil company that built the town, then Standard Oil. This refinery was Standard Oil's second facility, hence the name, El Segundo (The Second). Enough of the trivia lesson.
-Beer bar with a divey feel...not a bad thing.
-Definitely get a lot of people wondering who you are when you walk in if you're not a local.
-They are friendly natives!
-Food is surprisingly good!
-Spacious patio in the back for enjoying a nice day.
I'd come back. There was an enthusiastic crowd watching the Master's Tournament and ignoring the Baseball game. I'm not a gold fan but at least the crowd had interest in more than looking tough in the douchebag Affliction shirts.
It's funny reading reviews of people who complain about the location or about the food being "bar" food. Â They shouldn't have entered the door. Â Duh - it's a BAR with food. Â
This is a patio in the back of a dive-y looking bar that ONLY takes CASH. Â Not to worry, they have an ATM in the Bar. Â The bar is full of locals from ES and Chevron and is strictly a blue-collar crowd. Â Don't go there thinking that you will have a "dining experience".
Here is the reason to go: burgers and beer and very cheap! Â Burger for $5 and a whole schooner of beer for $5! Â The patio is surprisingly large (walk through the back of the bar). Â Reminds me of some of the places that I used to love in Baja. Â
The waitresses are awesome! Â They don't take crap though, so respect them and you will get great service. Â So kick back, have a brew - and lose the attitude. Â You will like it here.
I occassionally hang out at lunch on thursday with my bud Tom and his co-workers. Â The atmosphere here is very chilled and the service is good. Â Since Tom is a regular here, our waitress really takes care of us. Â I've ordered the pastrami burger and it is pretty darn good. Â Also, the draft beer in a Big Dog for $5. Â Where in the SouthBay can you get a deal like this.
Review Source:This isn't a place to come if you're in a rush to get in and out; it can be quite popular and crowded at noon, especially when the weather is nice (which it often is). Rather, it's a place to sit back, relax, have a drink and a bag of chips while you're waiting for your food to come out, and enjoy the Southern California sunshine.
After a long absence, salmon burgers are back on the menu, which are both healthy AND tasty. Another new item, their Greek chicken sandwich, is a favorite of my wife's. And any sandwich or burger can be put onto a salad if you don't want it on a bun or bread.
They sure could use a deep fryer (although I understand all of the problems that restaurants have with disposing of used cooking oil). Coffee for us non-alcohol drinkers, especially on those cold days out on the patio during the winter, would be nice, too.
This is one of my favorite hangouts for a laid back lunch with my coworkers on a beautiful Friday, which are thankfully quite common here in So Cal. Â I've been here dozens of times and have only ever sat on the large back patio, never in the indoor bar area. Seems to be popular with both the Chevron blue collar workforce and the local aerospace white collar workers. Â
Friday's recurring specials feature chili, by itself or on a burger, hot dog, or a plate of Fritos. Â The chili's okay, but I almost always crave either the Patio Burger (1/4 or 1/2 lb burger topped with a big tasty spicy sausage) or the Pastrami Burger (1/4 or 1/2 burger topped with a pile of thick-cut, tasty, lean pastrami). Â Oh, yeah! Â I keep forgetting to look at the changing specials on the ardoise, but I usually know what I want before I get there anyway. Â And of course, a large cold drink to wash it all down makes the experience complete. Â
It's more than just a restaurant. Â It's a lifestyle.
Only bar I have been officially thrown out and told to never come back. And if it was a for a good reason, I would have given them 3 stars. When they expanded their patio, they never expanded the kitchen, so they just had more seats for you to wait. When we complained about the time and that one of our people had to leave, they said tough #*$@ and served the food for the person who left anyway. They then refused to give the bill, so we figured the bill to the penny (Minus the person's food that we left) and exited the place. The owner chased us out and said to never come back. So we followed his advice. Besides, Richmonds half a block down is sooooo much better. I could only recommend this place for refinery workers that like to smoke, but being next door to the refinery, maybe not so much. ;-)
Review Source:Patio's got one thing going for them: the best of the worst bar food EVER. Where else can you get frito pie, a disgusting mess of fritos, chili and cheddar cheese. Everything else there that can be covered with chili is pretty good too, in that "the first bite tastes good so i keep thinking it's good when really my stomach is about to riot any minute now" kind of way. Had a really good pastrami burger there though. With lean thick pastrami. However, if like potatoes with your sandwiches, all they got are bagged chips. And eating a bag of Lay's just doesn't compare when you know Richmond Street Grill and their homecooked potato chips are just a block away.
So go here if you want to sit outside and drink beer. Go to Richmond Street Grill if you want good grub.
