This bar is literally perfect.
First of all, I would like to mention how AMAZING their food is! Not only were the fish tacos to die for.. but the french fries too? Wayyy better than Wahoo's tacos.
After telling the waitress ( who was super nice & attentive ) to give my compliments to the chef, he came out, chatted with us and even gave us some hot wings, how nice!
We came on a Thursday with beers for only like $1 and mixed drinks were $3.50...... not to mention that the food was pretty cheap as well.
Overall I would say this bar is one of the few gems in the Southbay that offers quality service, food, and drinks for a very reasonable price. I will def be back for some more shrimp/fish tacos and some dirty shirlys :)
Been coming here off and on for about 7 years and it hasn't changed much. Typical old neighborhood bar with reasonably priced drinks, friendly service and laid back clientele. If you come in a few times, the bartenders will probably remember your name and likely what you drink (Jen, Maggie and Cassidy are great). It is well kept (bathrooms are always in good shape) but hasn't seen a remodel in ages nor does it need one.
The only major change/improvement is Hector in the kitchen. His food is absolutely amazing and you can tell he takes pride in what comes out of his kitchen. His Mexican specialties are on par with many great restaurants but he also makes a mean burger complete with a "homemade" bun. I especially like that he is open to special (and in my case oddball) requests and will come out to see if he hit the mark.
$1.50 "ice-cold" bottled beers and surprisingly good $1.25 tacos on Mondays & Thursdays after 4pm.
Like any service based business they have bad days too, but I'd say 9-10 times I come in I leave very satisfied....
My buddy took me to this place letting me know he found our next watering hole near/around M Beach and at 1st I was like ... a bit on the ghetto side - dingy carpet, old tired looking TV and such ... but price and service is the great equalizer. The food is pretty good (try the 1.50 slider or fish taco 'has some kick to it') and the beers are hella cheap... I ordered 3 sliders 2 schooners came out to like 9 bucks or something.
This place is worth checking out if you like diver bars with Sons of Anarchy kinda feel to it.
