I love this place. Â GREAT beer selection, good food, solid jukebox full of decent/ecclectic music choices, friendly staff, and a REFRESHING LACK OF VIDEO MONITORS (thought there are a couple.) Â A relaxed place to have a really good beer with a nice sandwich that you don't need beaucoup cash to afford. Â Best place of it's kind on the east side of the state. Â It only get's 4 stars because it ain't The Hopcat in Grand Rapids.
Review Source:My friend and I went to One-Eyed Betty's on a Saturday night and we did wait about half an hour to be seated, but it was absolutely worth the wait! They have an extensive list of whisky, beer, and cider. We ordered Vander Mill Apple Blueberry Cider which was delicious. I chose to order the Scottish Salmon, blackened salmon, coconut rice and cilantro sauce. The rice and sauce were amazingly creamy and the dish was not overly spiced. Our server was so nice and suggested an entrée for my friend that she loved, the Chicken Tchoupitoulas, and kept coming back to check on us throughout the meal. I can't wait to go back to try more!
Review Source:I really enjoyed this place from the urban feel to the nice looking staff. The menu was on Trend for sure and the food was good. This place stays open late and just had a cool overall vibe. I was mad that they were out of the Scotch Eggs cause I really wanted to try one, next time for sure...
Review Source:Finally came in for dinner.
YUM!
It was super difficult deciding what to order because everything on the dinner menu sounded delicious.
I ended up ordering the Po Boy with shrimp and oysters and onion rings. Â Loved the o-rings and the po boy was also great. Â The bread could have been a little more toasted but it was fine the way it was.
Look forward to trying other dinner items. Â My friend loved her Betty Burger.
Was so impressed by this bar that I brought my friends back here again when I was in town this last time.
Service was great - love how they explain the beer menu and help you choose something that fits your tastes. Â I personally can't have beer, but they had a few kinds of cider which were great (the pear cider was delicious and refreshing).
Food wise, we ordered the bruchetta as a starter - 4 or 5 thick slices of baguette topped with mounds of goodies. Â Delish
Then for my meal I got the apple orchard salad. Â The flavors worked really well together, and the salad was a reasonable sized portion. Â
For dessert we ordered the donuts. Â I thought the peanut butter schiracha (I can't spell that word!) donut was not what I expected. Â it was just a powdered donut with peanut butter and spicy sauce sprayed on it. Â Was not super impressed by that. . .. but the rest of the donuts were yummy so it was all good.
Will definitely bring friends here again soon.
Prices were a little high for Michigan (but hey it's Ferndale and a "trendy" restaurant so i get it), but reasonable compared to NYC. Â (^_^);;;
My first visit was 7-14-13. Â I found it on Yelp. It surpassed my expectations! Â We came to enjoy some different beers and stayed for dinner. Â Our waiter was very helpful and we took his suggestions and ordered the Betty Burger? Â Who hasn't eaten a gazillion burgers but okay we ordered two and the stuffed "looney shrooms".
The mushrooms came so fast I think we were given someone else's order. Â I have to say that this was the VERY BEST burger I have ever eaten. Â The mushrooms are very tasty and the beer selection is not lacking. Â Although some might say it is a bit pricey 4 Soft Parade on draft, 2 burgers and mushrooms $60+ we will be back and bring friends.
I can't really comment on the ambiance because we were seated in the last booth at  in the back of the restaurant but since it was packed and a long wait list we were happy to sit anywhere. Â
I can't wait to go back!!!
Beer. Bacon. Bourbon. Brussels. Love the space, love the communal dining, love the decor. (Too many big-ass tv's, though. Detracts from the aesthetic.)
They have a great Sunday brunch that hovers under the radar enough that you can get a table when you walk in. The roasted veggie, arugula and goat cheese omelet is dynamite.
One of the best beer bars in Metro Detroit. I do wish they opened before 4p during the week.
(Health nuts will struggle to find something on the menu. FYI)
Atmosphere:
Open interior well laid out and able to hold a good crowd. Depending on the size of the groups, you might be seated with another bunch at common tables. I always get a kick out of this and usually meet great people. There are pinball machines to play while you wait for a table. Make sure to play a game or two and have a drink.
Beer:
The primary draw for most people. The beer list is expansive and well organized. On Friday, you will find a very unique beer option most other places will not have - a Firkin. This is a hand pumped beer and offers a very smooth and different experience. Firkins do not store well, so they must be sold quickly or disposed of which is why they are rare and only on Fridays.
Whiskey:
I am not traditionally a whiskey person, but you cannot beat their daily $3 whiskey special. You cant beat the price for a decent whiskey. Ask for a whiskey and ginger ale. The flavors balance out without too much whiskey bite.
Food:
I have only had some of the small plates, but they were always great. I always want to try many different beers, so I found it better to get small plates through the night rather than get full on a large entree.
Smashed a steak sandwich from here last night. It was awesome. I want another one. Right now. Onion rings were worth the upcharge as well.
Someone at our table ordered a few different things, so I tried the brussel sprout appetizer as well. Not bad if you're into brussel sprouts.
Great beer selection. The service was solid. Overall a good experience. Heard it's a pain getting in here most of the time, but if you can make it happen, I think it's definitely worth a try.
Even though this is away from the main drag of Woodward Ave/9 Mile in the Ferndale area, it is clearly well loved. A bunch of us walked in around 9pm and we probably stood at the bar for almost 2 hours before there was enough room for anyone to sit down. It doesn't matter which type of beer you like, they have it. Instead of tables and booths, they have communal tables. So, if you're there with a small group, chances are good you'll be sitting with strangers. But, who cares, bars are great places to meet new people. The biggest mistake I made was looking at the menu after we sat down. There were so many things that I wanted to try, but the two that really caught my eye were the Po' Boy (featuring oysters and shrimp) and the Pork Belly Poutine. Everything about the poutine is mouth-watering. Fries, cheese curds, gravy, pork belly confit, and poached eggs. There's nothing in that list I do not love. It certainly did not disappoint, it was better than it sounds. Next time will be the Po' Boy for sure!
Review Source:I've now been here twice, but never really ordered a full-on, belly busting meal... because who needs to when you have such amazing small plate options!? Â First, the crispy brussel sprouts are a must. Even if you're one those anti-veggie types, I guarantee you'll fall in love. My friend said she didn't like brussel sprouts, but lo and behold she chowed down right along with me!
Of course, the highlight of Betty's is the beer. Rotating, seasonal and lots of local taps. They also have very knowledgeable wait staff, so they can help you make a decision when your head starts spinning from all the glorious choice. Beer samplers are also always a great choice.
It's a nice space, very open and inviting. Kind of like being in your friend's garage that they've remodeled into a bar/patio because they prioritize partying over a dry, warm car.
Oh, and the prices: reasonable. I'm a big fan. Thumbs up One-Eyed Betty!
They may be known for their beer selection, but they should not be known for their Louisiana sandwiches. Their Po Boy with shrimp and oysters, was a failure. What was there was okay, but it's what wasn't were. The fries saved them from a one star rating.
The sandwich was suppose to have some shrimp and oysters on it right? I found a few and wish I could evaluate the sandwich, but it really didn't have enough to have an opinion. What was there, I suppose it was fine. The breading was fine, but the flavor wasn't outstanding and even good. It was, well, .... "I've experienced better".
Went here for the first time today. I knew they had an extensive beer list, but WOW! I'm not usually a beer drinker but I had to try one of them, so I asked the waiter to recommend a sweet beer. He recommended Soft Parade, which I've had before at a different restaurant and didn't like, but I ended up with a Clementine Lemon drink, and it tasted just like "beer" to me. Next time I will try the blueberry cider, though.
The portions are HUMONGOUS, as they should be for the prices, I suppose. I had the steak sandwich ($13, +$1 for onion rings) and it was delicious. The onion rings were also huge and I took about 2/3 of them home.
The service was very slow but luckily we weren't in a rush, otherwise Betty's would get 5 stars from me. I'd like to come back here another time to try more of their beers, too.
I love coming here for brunch on the weekends. I generally get their eggs beatrice with a veggie sausage patty because their veggie sausage is divine. On the weekends they also have bottomless mimosas for twelve bucks (I think) which is a good deal. Â If you are not into mimosas there is a giant beer selection which is the other bonus to this place. Also the wait is not as bad as other places in Ferndale for breakfast. If you go at 10:30 there is generally no wait.
Review Source:So there aren't many places that can so gracefully turn from well stocked tap bar to family friendly brunch place but Betty's pulls it off in a big way. I love their beer flights. You can pick from a wide range of micro brews of all kinds - if you can't find a beer here you like, then I think you might not like beer at all.
As for the food, it's pretty darn good. I've eaten here in the post Club Bart days when the menu was a bit more true to that tradition, but I welcome the change. The looney shrooms are really something yummy. We're not talking deep fried mushrooms. It's a more sophisticated than "just bar food"- with herbs, goat cheese and dried cherries.
The brunch options are really fantastic. I haven't tried them all...yet! But I really loved the omelet with goat cheese, arugula & veggies. It was so packed full of perfectly cooked veggies like zucchini squash and onions an carrots and the goat cheese made it creamy with a peppery kick from the arugula. Super delicious. It goes great with their bloody mary. This is one killer bloody mary. It comes speared with olives, celery, a pickle and it's in a ball jar with salt and pepper around the rim and it has just the right amount of kick...well done Betty's. Â
The atmosphere is super casual with pinball machines galore- don't forget quarters- and bench seating, european style. Which is cool, I like that I can sit down the bench from some other folks and strike up a convo. It makes it seem more communal. They have a sort of paint by numbers wall they are filling in with colored beer caps. It's pretty clever & cool. I like Betty's. It's easy. It doesn't try to hard. It's a great place to go drink some tasty brews and catch up with friends or show up for brunch and enjoy an easy sunday funday with friends.
One-Eyed Betty's has a truly unique breakfast/brunch selection. Â For instance, I had the Bacon, Banana, & Peanut Butter French Toast. Â It was quite rich and very scrumptious. Â The coffee, also very good, was smooth and had a slight bitter taste.
I also suggest trying the donuts with the Peanut Butter and Sriracha. Â I know it sounds like an odd combination, but the flavors combine so well.
The ambiance was special, too. Â A beer garden vibe mixed with hipster chic.
If you like beer, they have an enormous selection, including many Michigan and local brews.
This place is solid.
After eating here several times, everything has been great. Â From the bacon with a side of bacon to the massive drink selection to the amazing onion rings and burger with a bun so tasty that the girl who generally avoids buns (and other gluten-filled products) happily chowed down.
Great beer selection on draft and an impressive bottle list.
The pulled pork poutine was an entire meal on a plate and delicious. The maple bacon donut was also very good.
The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the peanut butter sriracha donut- a donut with a scoop of pb plopped on top & drizzled with sriracha. I guess I was expecting a little more imagination with the flavors.
It is definitely worth going for the beer and staying for the food.
This place is exactly what you would expect, a craft beer bar with what I like to refer to as "POP-CRAFT"beer. Meaning they carry some of the most widely available craft beers. Did not see anything on their beer menu that was one of a kind or rare, but I guess for most craft beer drinkers this place will do. I however LOVED their set prices for flights! Eve
Food was dissapointing, Meat and Cheese platter was severly overpriced for the portion size, and I am a restaurant manger myself, so I understand the concept of profit, however there is a line between profit and greediness. Asked for Oysters which were PRINTED on the menu and they did not have any, a better practice would be to either update the menu or make something that is not going to be available all the time on a table tent that is removable or something of the sort.
So even though their beer choices were nothing you can't find at your local craft beer store, It's still a decent place, not really anything I would hold my breath to go back to, maybe next time (if i ever go again) ill order a meal and see what that experience is like.
First let me start by saying I'm not a beer dude. Â I don't drink beer at all.....so this review has nothing to do with their beer menu. Â
My wife, son and I stopped by for lunch yesterday. Â The place is kind of quirky, but very cool. Â There's a public parking lot next to the place so it's easy to find parking during the day.
The food was really great. Â I had Sausage and peppers and it was wonderful. Â I also had the beer cheese soup which was also stellar. Â Nice Job is all I can say.
I'll leave the nightlife to everyone else to review!!! Â We will go back.
The service was not superb - it was ok at best.
Went there with some friends for after dinner drinks and was blown away with the amount of beer that they have on tap, I think it was around 40 or so. What I liked the most was that a lot of the beer is from local breweries, I got a lager from a warren brewery (can't remember the name) but it was very flavorful. My wife got the donuts, you get to pick three flavors and she got a powdered sugar, cinnamon, and a maple bacon one. I can only comment on the powdered sugar one and it was delicious! She liked all of them but the favorite one was the maple bacon. I would definitely recommend this place for dinner or just drinks.
Review Source:Only bummer here is the wait.
Food is fresh and delicious. Beer selection can't be beat.
I tried the salmon with coconut rice. Portion was just right and the rice was coconuty.
The boys tried fish and chips. Giant piece of fish cooked well.
Everyone was satisfied.
Only thing I'd improve is the attention to the classy bathroom during peak times and the size of the restaurant. It needs to expand...bring on a 2nd floor!!
Yes they do have an extensive drink menu. However I was not excited about the food. Everything we ordered was extremely greasy and I felt awful afterwards. (think the episode of The Simpsons where Homer tries to gain weight, Bart smears the chicken on the paper bag and says "If you cant see through it, dont eat it!") I could have probably used a half a roll of paper towel sopping up all the extra oil.
The beer cheese soup tasted amazing but I soon wished I never ate it! Of all four dishes we ordered two of them were just way too greasy/oily to finish. Wouldn't go back for food.
We heard about One-Eyed Betty's from a friend who hadn't been but thought it looked interesting. We went not knowing what to expect and all of us came away with a different "favorite" part.
We all loved the food, I was in beer heaven, my 9 year old daughter loved the really friendly waitress who had a t-shirt from a local store with a narwhal on it. My wife loved the vibe of the place and my 12 year old boy powered through the fish and chips (fresh cut fries) like I rarely see him do.
Good food, fun and friendly staff, cool place, can't wait to go back.
yumm pretty happy with this place! came here late looking for some food that was still open on a sunday night and it was trivia! wish we could have gotten in on that, but it was just food and beer instead. the beer selection is really great and i love the way they have it laid out on the menu - super informative! but the bartender was also really nice and knew what was up too, so there's always that.
i had their pork belly sandwich, which is a delicious take on a banh mi. you get a crispy, juicy bunch of pork belly with the grease seeping through your fluffy, crusty bread. a (un)healthy dose of creamy mayo really puts it over the edge into the indulgent fat food category. loved it. i wanted the pickled veggies to be a little more potent in the sour department, but they still were good for the much needed crunch.
i tried a bite of my buddy's poor man's plate, which was beans and rice and sausage and cheese. it's really hearty if that's what you're looking for, but i don't like rice and didn't love it too much. there are still other things on the menu that i want to try and i hope i get to. i want to come back for their trivia night!
I've never met the chef at One Eyed Betty's. I don't know his name, nor would I know his face if I passed him on the streets. But after eating here on a couple of occasions, I have a vision of him. And it's David Lee Roth circa 1983. Yes, there's no way that he's cooking for a restaurant in Ferndale. But after five meals here, everything has been so over-the-top, so ADHD, that the food could only seemingly come from the mind of Diamond Dave.
So far I've been to Betty's twice for breakfast and thrice for dinner, and to call the food hit or miss would be a little bit of an understatement. Both breakfasts I've had have sadly been misses, with whoever assembled them seeming to having seemingly declared war on the notion of using measuring cups. The Swetty Betty Breakfast should've been right up my alley, being egg, sausage, hot pepper and potatoes. But what the menu didn't mention was that it was drowned in a Pacific Ocean sized serving of tomato sauce. If that sounds unappetizing to you, well, that's about how it tasted too. The other breakfast dish I had was a Mexican omelet that's no longer there, but was seemingly followed the same principle. It was doused in a sea of salsa, and kind of came across as a taco kit pack
Even when the food has worked here, it still feels way too over the top. The pork belly sandwich is extremely tasty, but uses so much pork belly that it's bound to sit heavily your own belly. It's still a good take on a bahn mi sandwich, though. The woman really likes the fish and chips, which involves mass quantities of both fish and chips. The one outlier to the over the top trend here is, which is pretty much a burger.
The beer tap is pretty good. With 40+ beers on tap and 100+ bottles, you're bound to find you like. But again, the excess of the menu can lead to being overwhelmed if you're not really into beer and not familiar with most of the offerings. And they don't do as good of describing the offerings as most places with that kind of tappage.
Tthis is a pretty good place. But something just doesn't click on it being a really great. And this is coming from one of the biggest David Lee Roth-era Van Halen fans around.
With almost 200 reviews, I don't really have loads of amazing wisdom to dish out. Â However I would offer a couple points.
1) Get the Brussels sprouts. Â Yes, yes I know these are one of those dreaded foods in childhood that transfers to adulthood...but they are awesome. Â So grow up and eat them.
2) Their beer selection is something to be in awe of and their staff is very knowledgeable about their selections. Â My husband and friends are micro-brew/beer snobs and they love coming to Betty's. Â Plus I think it is great that you can get any flight you want for the same price. Â So many times flights are too restrictive.
3) Pinball. Â 'Nuff said.
Flatbread pizza, salmon, steak frites, stuffed mushrooms - all great. The steak frites is perfection. The apple brown betty is divine - share or you'll live in guilt forever.
Why is the service so terrible? I don't know. Servers are disinterested, perhaps fashionably so, but it's a bit intolerable. Both times I took friends our server would disappear for ages, wouldn't supply flatware, not all of us were given water. Yes, given the overlap of deficiencies you'd think it was the same server, but it wasn't
Overall, I enjoyed the apple brown betty and steak frites so much that I'd come again. And again.
I've been wanting to come here for quite a long time, but finally actually went for my first time. I almost gave it five stars, but there are a few very minor reasons for me not quite giving it that extra push.
Alright first of all, we got there at a little past 8 on a Friday. The parking is free after 8, so that's a plus. The wait, we were told, would be 45 minutes to an hour, and it took basically that long to finally get a seat. There were about 11 groups ahead of us, but more than half left ... I figure they saw that there wasn't any Bud Light on the menu, so they said "To hell with this!" and walked out the door. We wound up getting seated in the back of the restaurant away from the bar and everything. I thought it would suck, but there were two huge TVs with the Tigers' game on, so I was happy with that.
The waitress (Lanae ... have no idea if that's spelled correctly or if that's even what her name was. Renee, maybe? Lanae, I think... oh well.) explained the whole drink menu to us, which I wasn't expecting. Thankfully, it seems like One-Eyed Betty's only likes to hire people that know their shit... I hate going to places where a person has no idea what in the hell an IPA is.
The food? Oh, it was fine and dandy. This is part of why I knocked off part of a star though... we ordered pretzels, but never got them (turned out to be a good thing. This place has pretty big portions...), and my friend ordered a pork belly sandwich but got a portabello sandwich. He was too stupid to realize until he was almost finished that there was no pork on it... I guess that's a good thing though? I know portabello mushrooms can sometimes taste "meaty", but damn! "Portabello" and "Pork belly" can sound kind of sort of maybe similar in a loud restaurant, so I don't blame her for messing that up. I got myself the burger (awesome), onion rings (above average, but not spectacular), and beer cheese soup (tasty, but $6 is pretty pricey). Food was about what I had expected -- far better than typical bar food, but not legendary.
I also got a flight of six beers for $14 ... I'm not sure how many ounces were in each glass, but it was probably about four. For the price, and with the selection they had, I HAD TO GET THE DAMN FLIGHT. As it turned out, I made some good decisions -- only one beer that I decided to get wasn't that great.
I wanted to give five stars to Betty's. I really did. The service was good considering how busy they were and how long the wait was, the waitress was knowledgeable, and the food was delivered damn fast -- too fast as a matter of fact. We wound up getting our soup literally 30 seconds before getting our burgers. The waitress was bothered that another person brought the burgers out at essentially the same time, but it was a minor blemish, if you could even call it that.
One-Eyed Betty's is GREAT! Craft beer? Good area (Ferndale)? Above average service and food? Hell yes. The ambiance, the pinball machines, the many TVs... One-Eyed Betty's isn't flawless, but it is reaaaally close. I'll be going back soon... and YOUR ass should go soon, too... just be warned that you'll be waiting awhile, and you can't make reservations ("TARTAR SAUCE!", I know).
Mini-Update: I went again just last night, and while I still won't quite give this place 5-stars (it's just too expensive, really...), I will say that the waiters and waitresses know their shit. Whether it's food or beer, they know the menu extremely well. There was some woman next to me that had about forty-six questions about a beer and something on the menu, and he answered them all patiently and knowledgeably.
I REALLY wish they overlapped breakfast and lunch a little earlier on the weekend - sometimes ya just feel fried mushrooms at 10am. Â Â But other than that - Love the place -- great food, great beer selection. Â They make an amazing Bloody Mary. Â Â They also have a fantastic Whiskey menu, although I don't partake. Â
Try the Sriracha and peanut butter doughnut! Â Amazing!
I'm so happy to see some place challenging the douche-baggery that is Rosie O'Grady's. The food and beverages are exceptional and the service is always top notch! The fried mushrooms with goat cheese and dried cranberries are heavy (they're deep fried), but amazing. The Orchard Apple Salad is my favorite thing to order, with a side of mashed potatoes. :-)
This place can get loud, but it's a bar. Also, so happy they have continued the Club Bart brunch.
I took some friends here who are big beer fans here. They were impressed with the beer list and really enjoyed trying the sampler. I liked that recently they have had more hard cider options.
We also tried their poutine, which I must have missed last time I came. And I did miss out. I support this Canadian delicacy coming to the US. Bettys does a pork belly one with egg...and it is good. Â Worth coming and ordering and having a couple drinks.
If you like beer -- this is your place. They have an impressive list  on tap (40+ options) and in bottles & cans, too.  I'm not a huge beer drinker, so I was thankful that they also have a full bar.
I have had some really good food here. Tonight, I had the Beer Cheese Soup - holy mother of god - it was damn good! Also, tried the Steak Sandwich - really tasty with blue cheese, aioli, greens, onions, tomato and a side of fries. I've tried the grilled cheese - which was good but not exactly "ridiculously good" and the burger was a solid choice, too. The gumbo is another solid choice.
This place is always busy, but not so busy that you can't get a table. Want to go back and try breakfast soon.
My friends & I stopped at Betty's on Saturday. I've been here before, but it's been a long time. I wish we could visit more often just for the beer selection.
Naturally, it was super busy on a Saturday night. Our wait was about an hour at 7:30pm, which I expected. I overheard plenty of other people bickering about the wait. This isn't normal for a popular place on a Saturday night? The hostess said that a waiter was walking around and taking drink orders. It took awhile to figure out who that was since staff looks like the patrons. I finally got his attention, and he seemed pretty inconvenienced overall. Not sure if he was having a bad night or that's just his awesome personality. Having a beer in hand made the wait more enjoyable for sure. Fortunately, our 1 hour wait turned into about 35 minutes.
My friend and I ordered the Beer Cheese soup & split the Steak sandwich. My husband ordered the Betty Burger & my friend's husband ordered Fish & Chips. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. The soup definitely had a little kick to it. The fries were delicious. The steak had really good flavor & it was very tender.
My only (minor) issue is that we asked to split the meal & it came on one plate. We didn't get any small plates, so we just used the little plates under our soup bowls. That in itself really isn't a big deal, but they charged us 50 cents extra each for the split. The extra charge is minimal, but the whole point is, they didn't actually split the meal.
Service wasn't great, but it was super busy. Our waitress was very nice & she tried to be as attentive as possible. Â
I would love to go back when it's not so busy. The beer menu is a little overwhelming for a novice like myself. So many choices!
It literally pains me to write something bad about Betty's, as it has been my go-to place since it opened; but alas, what needs to be done must be done.
Over the past few months, what went from an awesome, quirky, lovable hipster fest of beer and upscale bar food with AWESOME service from the equally awesome, quirky loveable hipster staff, has declined rapidly. Â The place, which granted, is GREAT for business, has turned into a madhouse on the weekend. Â Good for Betty! It makes me happy that over 40 craft brews will be on tap right outside my front door. But, the service has RAPIDLY declined. Â I get that they're busy, but they really need to do a better job of managing the crowd.
Because I love coming here, I will happily wait; however, I come here mainly for the beer. Â I find that it should be without question that if I'm going to wait, there should be someone taking beer orders more than once a half hour. Â We had to grab the guy the other day to take our beer order, and get this... he was P-Oed. Â Seriously, dude? Â You work for tips... and Betty's is the one place I tip awesome. Â He rudely told us that he would take our beer order, but it was easier for everyone if we just gave him our cards/cash then, so he could cash us out. Â Ok, I guess no open tab. Â I wouldn't mind making it easier on everyone involved, but don't act like you're doing me a favor by doing your job, and then demand my debit card, disappear for the better part of 20 minutes, and then come back and tell us, "Oh just sign this and give it back to her (random point toward the hostess stand)."
I was really quite offended; it used to be that we would see similar servers and they would remember us. Â I always just loved the atmosphere, but lately, it's wearing out. Â Also, while the food is still pretty good, some of the things are subpar-ish. Â My favorite thing ever is the roasted veggie sandwich... I now have to tell them extra veggies, because a few times I had gotten a giant glop of goat cheese with a few random peppers and a piece of zucchini. Â
All good things must come to an end, I suppose.
Awwwwh shoot - I got a crush on One Eyed Betty's. This place is quirky & I Â can't wait to go back!
When I walked in it was sensory overload. There is a wall of pinball machines, a kick ass band playing which had a girl on the upright bass while being the lead singer (mind blown), it was packed, there were old time commercial/film clips of pin up girls showing, there were games on, there were people eating, drinking, and a little bit of dancing! So much happening!
At first I thought it was too odd a mix to work - the sports combined with the band and the pinball it seemed like they didn't go together - but somehow they work and create an awesome little spot with something for everyone.
Their beer selection is great - I ordered a hopslam and it was perfect. Even though it was so crowded the staff was really accommodating and didn't act like we're in the way but sought us out on the fringe of the bar to get our drink order. They were on top of refills and clean up, overall really cool staff who seemed like they were enjoying themselves and like what they do.
One eyed Betty's is a clean, happy, unique place -- really recommend it whether you're with a big group or out on a date - it is a lot of fun, and good drinks .. who could ask for anything more!
