Chips were a bit rancid, but the entrees were great and the staff was excellent!

Our first meal after a 7 day cruise on the Celebrity Reflection was excellent. The service, atmosphere and food were beyond my expectations. Afterall, Mexican food in Fort Lauderdale??!!! This was highly recommeded by TripAdvisor.

Been wanting to come here since it is right near my house and because of the good reviews. The place is very small and is located at the Publix Plaza. The waitress was very friendly and the atmosphere was nice. The food was nice and fresh,  but I found the menu to be limited, they should have a better selection. I would go back for quick bite after a beach day... very casual.

I usually don't five star anyplace that isn't a true five star. But this place deserves it, the staff is great, the food is great the owner is always there and truly cares about the customers and the quality of what is going out of the kitchen. I haven't had one thing that was bad. The prices are very reasonable as well.

Happy hour is buy one get one. But if there's two of you, both of you have to bogo! I can't buy one and let my friend drink the other. I have to drink two and she has to drink two. Little odd to me, but whatever, still a free drink. And my margarita's salted rims consisted of about 4 grains of salt. The food is good though. Enchilada, taco, fajita, Mexican pizza were all really good. But we felt rushed as we sat talking and the waitress ran back over and started to quickly box our food for us without even saying anything because we weren't doing it.....

Back again to Panchos. As usual, we sat outside and the service was great. My wife and I had beef fajitas ($13.95) and they were very good. Our friend had beef and chicken tacos ($11.99) which she said were excellent. Everything was cooked right and the portions were large. Always plenty of chips and salsa. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Good food horrible service. The margaritas pitcher is a ripoff and the waitress added gratuity at higher than 20% to our 2 person 2 meal bill, chips wee brought out late so we mistakenly paid $8 for gauc dip. Will never return here.

Not so good...disappointing.  Had the fish tacos, had no flavor and was likely deep fried.  Had better fish tacos at the food trucks.   They just threw together a few basic ingredients to make this meal, absolutely blah.  Maybe the other things are better, or maybe those who wrote the reviews know the owner, lol.  There is also a sharing charge for an entree for two ~ this is so passe, but they obviously need the business so they try to get ya this way.  Whatever.  I won't be back.

LOVE PANCHO'S!  I've been going here for years!  I don't know what's in the Tortilla soup but, IT IS AMAZING!!  The surf and turf is incredible, the crab and artichoke is great AND you can eat the tortilla bowl that it's served in, and the Taco's well I get those everytime.  When I get take out they always hook up PLENTY of jalapeños and sour cream!
I don't trust the bad reviews on here.  Perhaps those people judged it from one experience where something just happened to go wrong but, you can trust this review because, I've eaten there more times than I can count since they opened!
I'm very grateful that Poncho's Backyard is right here in my backyard!!

After a crappy Mexican meal on the other side of town on Hollywood Blvd. we decided to give this place a try. We hesitated when we drove up and saw that it was in a strip mall but we took the chance, anyway. Suffice it to say, THESE guys do Mexican VERY well and we ended up returning several times while vacationing there earlier this month. Good food at very reasonable prices. Two thumbs up!!!

Gustavo is a rude manager, lacks reservation etiquette and customer service. I have gone in the past to eat at Pancho's and decided to make reservations for my fiancee's surprise birthday dinner. Gustavo was not only unprofessional the day I made the reservation but also the day of the dinner. Gustavo had the worst attitude I have ever encountered at a restaurant. Overall, I remained calm and did not allow his negative attitude to ruin my experience and my guests who were invited to join dinner that evening. However, due to the lack of professionalism and service provided by management I will no longer be going to Pancho's even though they are located in shopping plaza next to my residential community. The food was delicious but the service received left a bitter taste our mouths.

We have been to Pancho's several times when we stay at the Sleep Inn across the street prior to a cruise. We keep going back because it is excellent. Service, menu, and specials are all great.

we were craving some mexican food while in town and stumbled upon this place. the chips and salsa were alright. we each had a glass of sangria and it was actually pretty good. we ordered the crab and artichoke dip and the chicken fajitas to share. we didn't care for the dip but the fajitas were amazing. they also have some spanish dishes on the menu as well as mexican.

Excellent salsa (not fiery, but delicious) and homemade chips.  Excellent service.  Save room for the sopapillas or fried ice cream!

Just ate lunch there it's been years since I've been there and I remember 'it as ok not sure why I havn't been back.

Had the Pork Fajitas and they where the best I've had since moving to Florida 7 years ago.  They really do marinade the pork before grilling!

Chips while not burnt had a slight burnt taste to them ...Maybee it was the oil they where fried in. Salsa was tasty but on a heat scale of 1-5 I would give it a 0

Poncho's is just about as good as it gets when it comes to service and food. I read a couple of reviews that were not to positive and all I can say is they need to go back to Toco Bell where they are more comfortable. The food at Poncho's is always made with the freshest ingredients. The specials are to die for using fresh fish bought daily. Even though it has Mexican flare don't pass on the great Cuban cuisine they also prepare. This place is a diamond in the ruff and you will get out of their wondering how they do it at such a great price.

Hubby and I  spent one night pre-cruise at the Sleep Inn and decided to grab a bite for dinner at Pancho's across the street.

We are from Seattle, and let me tell you, I wish we had a Pancho's here!  The service was excellent and the food soooo yummy.  We also ordered  Margaritas and they were excellent.

I had (I think) something like a fajita with strip steak stuffed inside.  I don't know what seasonings were used but the taste was phenomenal..not Mexican, perhaps Cuban or Spanish style?

Very unassuming restaurant that packs a wallop when it comes to great Mexican/Cuban/Spanish food at a decent price.

Just checked in here tonight, need to pen a follow-up. OK. So. I finally ditched my neighborhood US1 CVS (read my sun-shine filled reviews about that 'lil slice of heaven here on YELP) for the Publix on Sheridan. I like to get my drugs without being accosted by bums, dammit. So, while waiting for my prescriptions to be filled, we went over to Panchos for a quick drink and bite.

The place was busy for a Thursday night. We sat at the bar. A couple of bored young waitresses pretended we were invisible (really...I know it's a shocker...). The owner rushed up and to save us with a greeting, and took our drink orders. Two frozen margaritas, no salt please. We had a drinks in no time. Tasty, like last time.

We were a bit hungry and I didn't feel like cooking at home, so we ordered from the appetizer menu. Ceviche and Empanadas. The Empanadas were good, but more potato than beef. But super crunchy. The Ceviche was AWESOME. At least 3 solid cups of fresh squid, white fish and shrimp in a brisk light sauce of lime and bermuda onion. Mmm, so good. This was a wonderful light dinner, and quite enough to fill up both of us.

The owner was wonderful. Always nice, always fast, always on top of it.

Oh, and did I mention how badass the Yelp ap is on my HTC Evo? I was sitting there using the Monocle feature and Yelp reviews were being pulled up in front of my very eyes wherever I pointed my phone. Nice!

I was staying the night with my family at the hotel across the street a few weeks ago, and this place was the closest restaurant within walking distance. The waitstaff here was tons of fun and quickly refilled our pitchers of margaritas each time they got low. The owner was hilarious and came by our table a few times to make sure we were taken care of.

The guac is delish and they had some of the best veggie fajitas I've ever had. The other four people in my group all loved their food too and the prices are super affordable. Quite a nice find!

"Oh, if you like Guacamole, you have to go to Pancho's Backyard!"

This is what my friend who lives across from Pancho's told me. My husband and I visited less than a week later, the beginning of many trips to come. It was bustling with takeout orders and a mixed crowd. We started with the guacamole appetizer, which was indeed delicious. You can tell it's fresh, not the overly creamy stuff squeezed out of a tube at some places. Overshadowing the guacamole was the tortilla soup. Simple and amazing at the same time. It was perfectly seasoned with chunks of fresh avocado. I want some right now!

I've had the cevice a few times, and it's slightly spicy and very tangy, also well seasoned. It comes with yucca chips on the side, and it's a perfect light meal or appetizer. There are two stand-out dishes here: the lechon asada and any of the steaks. The pork is marinated in mojo and shredded into tender pieces topped with onions. The steaks also have a Spanish flavor and are cooked perfectly with a chimichuri sauce. I like rare and I got rare! This is not to down play their Mexican dishes, but I feel the Spanish selections really separate Pancho's from the rest. And of course, no meal is complete without a pitcher of sangria.

    Pancho's rocks. Believe the hype.

this has to be the worst Mexican food I have ever had in my life.

The place is an absolute nightmare.  Its a really awful place with a scary vibe and the food is nasty and gross.  we had the chili relleno which went right in the garbage.   The tacos were awful as were the enchiladas and everything else.

    Delicious.

    Very friendly staff.
    Chips and Salsa mmmm.
The Fajitas are great so is another steak Mexican dish which has a red sauce and jalapenos a little on the spicy side~but can't recall the name of it for the life of me.  So sorry, I'll think of it later and update.
    Moderately priced.
Give a try if you are in the area.
