So, I actually come here on occasion. Come here to watch a game, have a beer, or a drink, and that's about it. I rarely order food here unless I'm starving, or drunk.
Last night I went in kind of late, but there was still a crowd of people. I met my friends so they had already eaten and had a few rounds. I sat and waited for a server, or the bartender, they are apparently doing it all here, and after 15 minutes I got up and went to the bar.
The bartender was apologetic and noted that he was sorry that he had left me waiting and I responded with a no problem I understood they were busy. It really wasn't a problem, but it was nice of him to acknowledge I had been waiting.
Anyways, I grab my beer and go sit down, and wait for the server. She walks by a handful of times, she still has not said a word to me. I continuously try to make eye contact, I just wanted to order some fries and maybe a salad or something. Then, after the 4th time she came up to the table and attempted to walk away quickly, I spoke up and asked if I could order some fries and she tells me the kitchen is closed she thinks.... and comes back a moment later to confirm.
I would normally be completely understanding of this if I hadn't been waiting for over 35 minutes and gone to the bar to get my own beer. SO FRUSTRATING. No apologies either... she acted almost irritated with me. Mind the restaurant is still full of people...
Anyways, not sure I'll be going back. Just a suggestion to maybe let people know the kitchen is closing in 10-15 minutes.
My family and friends really enjoy this restaurant and come here once every two weeks or so. Â The calzones are great and the wings are good. Â One recommendation i would make is if the short chubby girl is working behind the bar then sit in the dining area. Â We sat there for 10 minutes tonight and she walked by twice without saying a word let alone asking if we want anything to drink. Â She spent the whole time playing a bar game with customers sitting at the bar. This is the first time we've come here with her bartending and this is the first problem we've ever had. Â The normal two guys that work are always attentive and friendly! Â We ended up getting up and walking out and still she didN't acknowledge anything!
Review Source:Despite the stuffy, loud environment, this place may not be that bad.
I have been curious to check out this place for years now. Not because it struck me as anything special, but just for the fact that I have driven passed it for years now on prior routs to work and being I now live within almost walking distance from it, I of course had to check it out.
After having a really successful day at work, I decided to just stop in and have a drink and possibly something to eat before I headed home.
Located in the Safeway Shopping center facing Ygnacio Valley rd, this place is not hard to miss at all.
I would have never thought this place was an Italian restaurant due to the Name of Pavilion and the overall exterior of the building. Well come to my surprise, it was completely different than imagined.
I personally think the layout of the place is horrible. I first walked in to an extremely loud, stuffy bar, that almost forced me to leave. The bar area almost reminded me of a run down taqueria straight out of Mexico. Certainly not impressive. I did however, really want a Lemon Drop, so I asked the extremely friendly host If I could just sit in the restaurant area, which he said yes and assisted me to the back restaurant area, which was much less noisy and  certainly less stuffy...ugh..
I of course ordered a Lemon Drop. It turned out to be ok. I also scanned there menu, which appears to have a variety of  tasty looking dishes with most of them being your standard Italian dishes. I was not too hungry, however, II wanted something light. I then noticed they had tomato basil soup, which I ended up ordering a small cup ( you can order small or large).
They served bread to me while waiting, which I really did not need, but they were presented quite appealing to the eye, which lead me to take a small bite of one which turned out to be actually fluffy with a nice garlic taste.
Soup then arrived fairly quickly, looking absolutely delicious and it  turn out to be just that. Far better than I expected. Creamy, with nice thick chunks of tomato, slices of onion and just flavored wonderfully. I really was curious to try there special of the Chicken Cordon Blue ( I am a huge fan of Chicken Cordon) however, being I was not too hungry, I decided to end it with my soup.
My total for everything turned out be 11. and some change. Certainly not bad. Service throughout my visit, was extremely accommodating from both the server and the host.
Overall, if you enjoy loud, stuffy, packed bars, this may be the place for you (certainly not my style) which is why I sat in the back. The food for the one little item I had, turned out to be extremely fresh and tasty and my drink was decent. Prices seem to be fairly reasonable and I was really satisfied with how accommodating and friendly the staff were. Certainly decent enough to have me curious to check them out, however, at more of a less busy time and day.
Every time we drive by this place my boyfriend wants to go here was little hesitant because I had a so-so experience (although that was a couple years ago). We went on a week night around 8 and there was like 1 other table taken in the dining room. The bar was very busy and loud so they seated us as far from it a possible. We ordered a house salad and asked for an extra place and a large margarita pizza. Â They split the salad for us in the back and they were both pretty big. Â The salad was good it had walnuts and a kinda creamy balsamic dressing. Â The pizza was also good, kinda more restaurant style but they marinated the tomatoes on it which was different but yummy. We ate only half the pizza so we had half to take home for our lunches the next day. Â The service was very good, they were very attentive and it was an overall positive experience. I'm sure we will be back.
Review Source:Not the biggest fan of this place, not gonna lie. My dad orders take-out from them constantly. I would never describe their food as "amazing", but if you're in the mood for Italian food in a small and casual atmosphere, this is probably a good place to go. They are open 'til 9:30pm, which is nice, since most other restaurants in the area close at 9:00pm.
Expect their food to be mediocre at best; also, their bar seems to attract rough patrons (it's Concord, after all. Very hit-or-miss). Two stars.
Great, local bar with awesome bartenders!! I love that they have Stella on tap and I have been pleasantly surprised with pretty much all of the food I've ordered here too. The Mediterranean pizza is delicious and is definitely my favorite, but the other pizzas, calzones, sandwiches, pastas and salads are all pretty damn good too. Great prices and the owner is almost always here, working alongside his employees, which is nice to see. They have lots of TVs and a great outdoor patio plus a whole restaurant area that can be reserved for parties. The bar is my favorite spot to be though. So many "regulars", yet everyone is welcoming to the newcomers.
Review Source:We stopped by Pavillion Bar and Grill for a mid afternoon lunch on a recent weekday afternoon. Â I ordered a BLT half sandwich that came with salad and fries. Â My order was quite good. The fries were tasty and perfectly cooked; the side salad, which often can be a throwaway item, was excellent. Â The BLT sandwich had a generous helping of bacon, so definitely no complaints.
My wife had the chicken linguine with artichokes, zucchini and sun-dried tomatoes. She was disappointed with her entrée, however, as it was quite bland needing salt and more sauce.  This was a bit discouraging, as it was expected that pasta would be their specialty.
So, overall, a mixed experience.
this is one of those local bars that have great food and ice cold beer!!! was visiting from sd this weekend and ended up here on sat. they have a beer trough that has tons of ice cold beers ready to drink. the service was awesome i had the flat bread pizza as an app and the beef sliders with the garlic aoli were amazing if im ever in that little town again ill def stop by!!!
Review Source:FAIL! Twice may i add. Â a few months ago, I looked at their online menu and found a greek salad. i called in and ordered it to go. ( the menu did not say there was bacon in it) when i came home, i found there was bacon in it, (i dont eat bacon) Â and first off, i have NEVER, heard of bacon in a greek salad. i called the restaurant, i told the lady there was bacon and she rudely said that "the menu online was wrong." what is the point of having a menu online if it is going to be wrong? Fail two was today, i came in to to eat and stood there waiting to be seated. a waiter came up to me and said, "can i help you?" no "hi" or anything, i said i would like to be seated. he said there was a party in the back so to either find a seat in the bar or patio. ok... so i go outside, he comes and takes my drink order, and NEVER came back to bring it or take my food order. i can guarantee he forgot about me, bc it doesnt take 10 mins to bring a diet soda. i got up and left. It is very unfortunate that i have been having such horrible service with restaurants. again fail. not wasting my time with these people.
Review Source:The people that work here are SO incredibly nice, the place looks nice...the food on the other hand is so bland!! Ive ordered take out there 3 times now. The food looks appealing and it smells wonderful but everything Ive ordered now just wasn't as good as it looked!! All I can say is break out your salt shaker.
Review Source:The atmosphere smelled like alcohol right when you walk in due to the bar. The host was friendly. The person refilling the water was on top of it. I asked to have my dish customized when our waiter, who was actually the owner (name is Hamid) gave me a hard time. I asked if it would be ok and he said "oh well, the order makes it more complicated for the kitchen but I will tell them." Guess I should have known from there that it would go down hill from that point on.
The food was bland and some of our orders were microwaved. My stomach doesn't feel good. I will never return to the restaurant and will make sure to recommend others NOT to try this place. I feel for the workers at the restaurant because they are hard workers, but the way we were treated by the owner of all people there, made the experience distasteful. The owner should take some restaurant etiquette courses to get a refresh on how to provided great customer service. Otherwise he will continue to lose business.
When I went to pay, apparently the owner thought my tip was too small.First he sarcastically said I was too generous. Then he took me aside & scolded me,telling me that a tip should be 20%
I'm pretty sure that tipping is optional, did that change?
Instead of of thanking me for coming into his restaurant & spending way too much money on overpriced drinks & average food, he insults me & tells me that I did not give him enough money?
I tip according to service,he took our order & brought the food. He really automatically expects a 20% tip?
I don't think so.
It was incredibly uncouth for a server, let alone the owner of the restaurant to treat a PAYING customer that way.
Service is/was slow the night I was there for $1 taco Tuesday. The tacos are delicious! You get your choice of chicken, pork or steak. I chose the chicken. They were served with sour cream and salsa on the side. with white onion and cilantro mixed in with the chicken. I was going to ask for a lime wedge but didn't need to. Yes, I usually take them with a lime wedge. Our tacos took forever to reach us, almost like 20 minutes!
We sat in the bar area. We had a large group (there was 9 of us) so we pushed 2 round tables together. No problem. The outdoor patio was occupied with a few couples. The restaurant area was busy with one waitress.
I noticed the bar back was also our waitress/server and bus person! It took forever to get a drink refilled and even to get a water! UGH! Not the greatest first time experience for me.
The service was okay, Â the food was edible. The biggest problem I had was finding a short and curly hair in my dessert. I approached the owner about it and he offered to get me something else. Which I appreciated but who in their right mind could eat after that. I was very disappointed that he didn't comp the meal or even comp the dessert. I guess he figured I wouldn't be coming back so he might as well get money out of me while he could. I have never written a review on a restaurant before and felt I had to warn anyone from wasting their money and potentially good health here.
Review Source:Gave this place a try to see if the $21.95 dinner for two was worth it. Not! I had the lamb shank which turned out rubbery and had a strange gravy poured over it. My wife had a chicken pasta dish that had a very bitter/burnt taste to it. We are by no means picky eaters, but even at this low price I would not return.
Review Source:We too stumbled onto the Pavillion Bar & Grill after leaving the Concord Pavilion up the street. We wanted lunch and it was a great choice. They have a wide variety of lunch items to choose from, the staff was very friendly and funny, the ambiance was great and the food excellent.
I had the patty melt, my wife had the Gorgonzola salad, my friend had the Cobb salad and his girlfriend had a pizza. Every one of us enjoyed our meals and would love to come back for dinner. It was truly a delightful lunch!
We just happened to spot the place on our way home and being hungry and thirsty we thought we would check the place out. It was happy hour and thinking were were just there for a drink and an appetizer we sat at the bar and immediately we ran into the reason we took away a star. Really it should have taken away two stars. The bartender was so busy talking to the regulars and taking an occasional snort that every single time we needed attention we had to ask for it with never a please or thank you. Just abysmal. Other reviews have given high marks to the service so I assume it was just this individual.
Anyway, when we got the menus we immediately saw a dinner for two for $21.95. It was a choice of one appetizer (out of about 6), two entrées (out of 9) and one dessert. Tiramisu was one of the desserts so they could have had a list of twenty and it would not have mattered. The appetizers were uninspiring (I don't even remember what we had) but there were enough appealing entrées that we had a hard time deciding. We settled on the braised leg of lamb and tilapia both of which came with potatoes and broccoli. At these prices we anticipated small portions which would have been just fine with us as we are not big eaters. Well, the portions were anything but small. The lamb was well cooked and tender and covered with a very tasty sauce. The tilapia was just as it should be. Miraculous to relate the broccoli was perfectly cooked. Not raw, not mush and piping hot. The meals were so good neither of us stopped when we were sated as we normally do and when the tiramisu arrived we groaned a bit. The tiramisu was not really tiramisu. It had no coffee flavor to it or alcohol bite but it was a delicious, creamy, sinful dessert.
We do not go that way a lot but if we do we will probably visit again, just this time we will try to avoid that jerk of a server.
After trying to find another Italian restaurant that had just opened, but unable to, the husband made me decide between here and Skipolini's...so I picked here.
We hadn't been here in probably two years, the last time being for a less than spectacular brunch. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Nothing memorable.
Tonight was WAY different and I am so glad!
Focaccia bread and marinara brought to the table.
Spicy Romano chicken for the husband with a side salad.
Fettucine Pescatori with a side salad for me.
Spaghetti with marinara for the 7 year old.
Meat Lover's calzone.
The bread was very soft, it was almost falling apart. The marinara could've been homemade, or from a jar, kind of hard to tell.
The salads were sooooooo good. Chilled perfectly, nice and crisp, a LOT of flavor. My only complaint is that there was a ton of onions on top. They were delicious, but I ended up picking some off.
The husband's dish was good. Sun dried tomatoes, chicken and quartered artichokes that were so fresh and bright tasting! The sauce wasn't very spicy, but it had good flavor. Â
My pasta was DELICIOUS. The only issue I had was that the calamari was a little chewy. Maybe just slightly overcooked, but still good. The 7 year old even had a chunk of tentacles! The sauce was obviously NOT the same used for the Spicy Romano chicken, which I was curious about. It was loaded with clams and calamari rings, a few shrimp and some mussels.
What can I say about the kid's spaghetti? It was spaghetti with a red sauce. Nothing special, but really, do you want to give somebody who takes 3 hours to eat a REALLY good sauce? I suppose letting them have that taste would only increase the odds that they'll appreciate good food more, but whatever.
The calzone was really good. It wasn't greasy, the crust was crisp and soft, with a really, really good flavor. They put caramelized red onions in with the meat and cheese and boy...it added this flavor that was beyond caramelized onions. Delish.
The service is fine, they don't hover, and they don't ignore you. They are attentive enough that you know they're paying attention. That is what I like. Don't come ask me a million times while I'm still eating if everything is ok. If you notice that my cup is empty and you ask if I want a refill, that's good. If you see that I've set down my fork and I'm not eating anymore, don't wait 20 minutes to bring me the check. They also treated our daughter very well. They didn't defer to us for her order, but treated her like a person and let her order.
I was surprised that the bar was the busiest place, we had the entire dining room to ourselves. I don't understand it, if I get sick at some point tonight I suppose I will. I hope that tonight was just an off night and that they do a slammin' business on other nights. I love to see local businesses succeed, especially good ones. I think we'll try and hit this place more often.
Went here for the first time for a late dinner on Saturday. Â They're currently running a special dinner for 2 for $19.95 Â You can choose from one appetizer, 2 entrees and a desert.
The fried zucchini was crisp, fresh and lightly breaded. Â I had the chicken alfredo with broccoli which was some of the best i've ever had. Â we also had a sausage/pesto/pasta dish, which I can't remember the name of, but it was really good.
the Tiramisu is the best I've ever had.
It's a nice, quiet place. Â Good for a casual family dinner or even a romantic dinner date
I want to like this place, I really do. Â It's close to home and it looks friendly and inviting from the outside. Â But I have had very inconsistent experiences here over the years. Â Personally, I liked it better when it was an old-fashioned family style Italian restaurant. Â But that was quite some time ago and we were excited when it was bought and became Linguini's. Â But we started having the odd experience of walking in for a table and having to stand and wait at the door, even when the place wasn't full. Â The staff behind the bar would stare at us, the waiters/waitresses would walk by and stare at us. Â We actually had to walk up to someone and ask them to serve us. Â We ended up walking out at least twice. Â Why did we keep going? Â The signature salad dressing which is kind of a slurry of spices in oil and vinegar, is really good. Â And we almost only do take-out. Â But then it became the Pavilion and changed again. Â But we still continued to have some issues. Â And it didn't only happen to me, it happened to other people I know. Â However the food has also changed and gotten better I think. Â We love the Gorgonzola salad, which is exceptional, and the tomato soup. Â Don't care for the dry sort of foccacia style bread they offer. Â The pasta can be inconsistent. Â The calamari appetizer is very good. Â But they still have the great salad dressing. Â On the other hand, it's pretty darn noisy on the inside. Â It's one thing to have tv's on in the bar area for watching sports and such but I think they should turn them off in the dining area unless it's super bowl or something. Â And improve the acoustics in general as it's just plain noisy. Â But it's still worth a try, especially at this end of the world where we don't have a lot of choice unless you want to drive.
Review Source:I went there last night and they had a special: $19.99 for a dinner for two. Â We got our choice of one of many appetizers, two entrees from a decent selection, and dessert of our choice. Â We got the nachos for the app, and they were great. Â My mom (yes, I went out to eat with my mom) ordered the cobb salad and loved it; I had the chicken alfredo with broccoli and it was decent, but not spectacular. Â
All in all, the service was great, the patio was a surprisingly nice atmosphere (no fumes from Ygnacio Valley Rd), and our meal was VERY cheap. Â I recommend.
I don't know what happened with the people who reviewed below, but this ranks highly in terms of what a 'Bar & Grill" is! Â Great service and good food at decent prices.
The GF and I have been coming here ever since they re-branded (I forget what they were called before) so maybe 2007. Â
Okay pizza, great seafood (they know how to cook some calamari!) good pasta dishes and a spectacular salad you do not want to miss. Â My GF would make me drive from Walnut Creek to get the Field Berry Salad with their House Balsamic dressing. Â If you are nice and come often, the owner might give you a pint to take home... Â My girlfriend ate nothing but salad with that dressing for the next week!
Try it out, you won't be disappointed. Â Also, their bar area gets going occasionally, especially on sports nights.
I went here with my daughter back in '07.
I hate when people write reviews of places they haven't been to in years...
Years...can change everything.
But, I never knew exactly what this place was called, till tonight.
No wonder..
No one had reviewed it, 'til recently.
My Aunt had just died, and my daughter and I were on the way home form my cousin's and hungry.
We stopped in, and ordered a Caesar and a thin crust pizza.
The Caesar was nothing spectacular.
The pizza was a joke!
I think the server was embarrassed,
As, when he brought the pizza, he asked if it was too thin, and that they would make another...
Needless to say,
YES it was nothing more than barely baked cracker bread that was soggy and swimming in grease.
We each a a piece and did not take the rest home.
The server never asking us again, didn't offer to take it off our bill.
To "chef's"
And I use that term loosely..
Don't be a smart ass.
Absolutely horrible.
And service was less than friendly, prompt, efficient, etc.
This is one of the places that needs to bee seen. The staff is awesome and the food is to. We had a gorgonzola salad with shrimp on it. It now is hard for me to order anything else when i go there. The full bar is fun to. They have an outdoor patio to hang out on, flat screen TVs. The bartenders do not skimp on the stiffness of your drink. Definitely give it a try. They also have a great Sunday brunch. I would say if your going to see a show at the pavilion come early for dinner. Then after the show stop back buy for drinks and some great bar food..
