Great for the younger crowd. It is most excellent to watch bands here. It was the favorite place for sooooo long. I feel a little bit too old to be in here now. So I moved on to less exciting places. Peabodys is legendary and you owe it to yourself to spend at least several wild nights here. I wouldn't do anything illegal when you walk outside. There will be VBPD all over you. Or they might run you over with a horse, like they did me, haha. But yeah, hot girls.
Review Source:If you're in your late teens and early twenties, Peabody's will probably seem like the most awesome place ever. Â You will probably want to spend every weekend there with your friends. Â But eventually, you will grow older, and see how skeezy Peabody's truly is. Â It's kinda like when they turn the lights on at the end of the night. Â Everything is bright, glaring, and ugly. Â That "hot guy" you were dancing with two minutes ago turns out to be old enough to be your father. Â
That's called Reality.
PFFFFFFT. I was on a wak ass pub crawl and literally had to be DRAGGED here. Why this establishment was on the list of stops is beyond me, but I suppose that's what you get for leaving a bunch of drunk dudes in charge. Maybe its because I am nearly 30, and I cannot stand night club type scenes.. This is an all ages club so, ill say no more about the level of annoyance I experienced here. Not only that, but the waitresses were bitches. Sure they all have huge fancy fake tits and glitter all over their bodies, which is nice to look at but they are NOT NICE to female patrons, at least not on the night I was there. It took AN HOUR to get a drink. Bitches, please. If you like partying with children, DJ's with no specific genre and black lights, by all means, come here. Dont expect much, especially if you have a vagina.
Review Source:Peabody's is the perfect place to go when you want to get out and dance but you don't want to get dressed up. From my personal experience there (which has been several times), they do not have a dress code. (As far as a "dress to impress" dress code goes). Their drinks are reasonable and they have dollar Jell-O shots. There are plenty of places to sit if you want to take a break which is always nice. The dance floor can get really crowded and it is 18 and up, but overall it's one of the best places to chill and dance without having to get dolled up.
Review Source:I venture a lot of places, but I have come to find Peabodys is all around fun. Hot girls, great music, and drinks of course. I like how they bring in different entertainment from around the nations. The flosstradamus show was sick. The crowd was hyped up and the poison was flowing w/out any issues. Definitely will be back there!!
Review Source:Wow I really did enjoy this club on the three occasions I wound up here. First off its 18+ so do beware, and not get totally turned off by the baby parties you might encounter through out the night. The venue itself is really big. There are always admission specials, drink specials, shot specials, and VIP specials. Thursday night is ladies night, meaning ladies don't pay admission... not sure if that means open bar at any point, but I'm sure they offer discounted drinks. Friday night is college night, which means if you have a college ID you get in for free (of course mine was back in NY). If you have a military ID I believe you always get in for free, or maybe it's half price admissionnwhich would be like $5. Regardless, I've never seen admission more than $5 or 10 each time I went; it's fairly inexpensive.
The specials they have are great. All night theres a $6 super cup which you get to keep. You buy the cup you get discounted drinks. $6 double shot vodka redbull, $5 mixed drinks (such as cap't & coke, vodka& cranberry), and lastly $3 well made drinks- which is anything the bartender wants to make you. Peabody's drinks are strong, no lie; it's well worth the money spent. I had the bartender make me a drink that was blue, sweet, and strong. Even if you don't buy a super cup the drinks are still strong. The margarita was also really good. The $2 red or blue  jello shots were delish, and they came in these awesome little suck and blow containers, which I of course took home.
The Friday I went it was half way to Halloween, meaning the whole staff was dressed up in funky  Costumes... had I known I definetly would have brought mine too. It's cute how involved the staff was...girls, guys, young, old...
I guess the only thing left to comment on would be the music and the dancing, and boy was there a lot of that going on! For the most part the music was real enjoyable. The DJ certainly mixed it up from hip hop to country. Seriously though some of the songs were totally out there -like Madonna here and there, some Texas country, and the rock songs (i DO NOT enjoy rock/country music what so ever). Everyone was having a genuinely great time. They played mostly hip hop, dub step/ house, and like remixed iish which allowed for the dance floor to be packed. I liked how the middle section was the whole dance floor,  and you would actually have step up to get on it. I like this set up because this makes the dance floor  a designated area, and if you want to dance you'll have to be with everyone else, as opposed to grinding in a corner somewhere. Then there's a stage. Of course I love stages so long I'm dancing... I was a star in Virginia beach. In NY I blend in well but- in VA I have TALENT! It felt great to have people cheering ME on.
Around the dance floor are tables where you can actually sit, and chill, drink and what not; not effin VIP - just chill out spots. In NY they don't offer that option at a night club. Â It's either give the club your bank account just to sit in a sectioned off area with a $40 bottle of liquor, or stand all night. I hate sitting anyways, but I love options.. options, options, options!!
I think Peabody's is one of my favorite spots to go to in VA Beach. Quite a good mix crowd and the bartenders/waitresses are actually good looking. Security dude was super hot though! There is also a DJ and dancefloor! When my cousin's from San Diego are in town they always want to go to "Peabody's!"
Review Source:I hate this place. I was kind of forced to come here because visiting friends weren't 21 yet. The dance floor was small, the drinks were overpriced, and the men were creepy and sweaty. Granted, I can't base a review off of the people- however, the people that attend this place says a lot about the club. Especially when the club is 80% creepy men and the other 15% are 16 year olds borrowing their big sister's IDs and shaking their underaged booties on the stage. Now, don't get me wrong, I knew what I was getting myself into- I've heard things. So, I got trashed and danced. The music was fun and while I spent a lot of money, I was good and drunk. There's an 80% chance I won't be back.
Review Source:I've lived in Virginia Beach my whole life and Peabodys has always been the only real dance club. Last time I went about two weeks ago they had completely renovated the place. Not only is it still one of the biggest spaces in Virginia Beach but they now have VIP lounges!! Not just one but three! My group and I reserved the main VIP area and had bottle service all night! I can't thank Peabody's enough for hosting such an amazing night!!!!
Review Source:Drink specials were so good that I was enjoying myself enough to venture out near the dance floor and shake what my mama gave me. The crowd and music was mixed, anytime you play Drake followed by Drowning Pool and do so with no awkwardness from the DJ, you have my attention.
Loved that they invited women on stage to dance just to toss them off a song later....I wasn't going up there but the women invited looked like they enjoyed themselves immensely. That night, the DJ told everyone if you weren't dancing that you would be kicked out of the dance area, and sure enough, people were being bounced out left and right.
I have to say that anyplace where you lose your coat, debit card (due to drunkeness) and give descriptions of both and they find it and call you back to come get it the next day and all is accounted for...means that they care if you return and have good employees. Cheers!
Disclaimer: I'm a sophisticated bitch. not stuck-up, but I have class.
This was my last night in Virginia Beach and I was quite disgusted by the "nightlife" here...untiiiiiil we found Peabodys. This place is HUGE. There were plenty of people in here dancing and getting trashed but there was still enough room to just stand there and people watch without people stepping on my feet! Yay! I was only with a male friend and we decided to go in the back left where there was supposed to be a private party. We walked straight in and got a drink very easily at the bar. We got gin and tonics. Usually at these type of places, I don't order liquor because it can become quite watered down but our friendly bartender poured enough cheap gin to satisfy my needs. The DJ was actually not bad. I wasn't expecting to hear current music and I did (can you tell my expectations were low going into this?)
Fellas beware: the locals like to come to the club straight from the beach. I'm talking sandy vagina and all. Heck, ladies beware too! I'm sure the dudes got sandy butt cracks as well!
THE HAPPY HOUR HERE IS NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING!!! From 7pm-9pm for only $1.50 you can get almost any drink. WOAH! I can actually have a great time drinking without breaking the bank for once! The mixed drinks are incredibly watered down, but if you play it smart, you can order say, a rum and coke and get a double shot of Captain Morgan to go with it for $3 to liven it up! So you get an awesome drink for $4.50!
The night was pretty slow at the beginning, but it was nice to just chill out with our friends and chat and drink in peace. Then they brought out the giant jenga game and it was super fun! More people started filing in as the night went on and then we danced the night away!
My only complaint would be the male employees who were the drinking police. They kept coming to our table and clearing away our drinks before we were done!!! That was really annoying to be having a good time on the dace floor only to realize that the drinks you paid for were cleared away! If possible, have someone at the table to guard the alcohol!
The Venue:
Starting off let me talk about the atmosphere of this place and the building. Â Â The building is actually pretty large, although the dance floor is pretty small, they had to many people go on the dance floor and just stand there all creepy like watching a few girls and couples dance. Â There was two large bars and a small station that seemed to be for jello shot which it appears that the Virginia population seems to primarily drink beer. Â Â So the jello shot girl was not to busy.
The majority of the staff appeared to be younger girls some of which probably werent 21 yet; the exception to the staff being women were the  bouncers of course.  The attire that the cocktail waitresses and bartenders were wearing would be pretty skimpy similiar to what a gogo dancer would wear.  I'll admit that I didnt mind actually. ; )  Half of the waitresses were nice and some of them seemed to be a bit  to stuck up for being from Virginia. Â
They did have a larger bored looking girl that didnt seem to enthusiastic at the front taking the money for the cover fee which I believe was probably ten bucks or something. Â
The bouncers kind of ran the place like a cattle mill and definitely were not as well experienced in maintaining customer service at the same time as order as the OC bouncers. Â However, I imagine with that many drunk underage or young peeps they had to run it like that.
The DJ was actually really good. Â Every now and then they would throw in a song that everyone would know and could yell out words to like the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Theme". Â But they kept having a bunch of cornball guys on the stage that must have been friends with the staff doing pull-ups and crap to try and make themselves look muscular and pumped up for the girls and jumping around like a bunch of monkees. Â Unfortunately, blocking the view of the sometimes attractive girls that would be let on the stage.
Drinks were actually pretty cheap. Â Think that night I ordered six long-island ice teas, three shots of something that tasted like an irish car bomb, something in a vial and two beers. And I believe it only came to like eighty bucks or so. Â Â One cute and nerdy girl bartender would charge me about $5 for the long-islands. Â But the guy bartender did charge me $9 once. Â Which still wasnt that bad in my opinion.
As far as the crowd -  The majority of them were running pretty young up to late twenties.  Some earlier thirtiers in there but not many.  A lot of attractive girls dressed good old fashioned night club skanky and guys dressed like crap since there really isnt much of a dress code here.  No one seemed to be smiling, laughing and having a good time for some reason.  Everyone seemed so serious and just trying to be more  cool than trying to have a good time.
Overall, I enjoyed the place myself thanks to one of the employees that I met the day before whom invited me there. Â And another shorter blonde cocktail waitress who seemed genuinly friendly. Â The people I brought with me had a good time as well.
Hope this helps. Â Cheers,
This club didn't impress me. Yea, there is a lot of pretty females in there, but it seemed  like everyone, in there was just standing around. I had more fun at Mc Faddens in Hampton, beleive it or not. I've only been there one time, but it just  seemed like it was a stuck up crowd that night and everybody in there knew each other.
Review Source:I feel like I'm just past the age to go to Peabodys and have any kind of rockin' time. I may have been able to do this when I was 21, 22 years old but going to a sweaty, packed, club isn't really my idea of a great time anymore. It does have the biggest dance floor at the oceanfront, so if you're really looking for a place to dance then you might want to check this place out. The drinks here are a bit expensive but the bartenders tend to pour drinks that are adequately strong. I believe they serve some kind of food at this location, but I've never tried it out. Another bummer, for the male population at least, is that you pretty much have to pay a cover charge to get into Peabodys on every night of the week. Â I think a college ID will get anyone in on a Friday night, but that's about the only break that us dudes are going to get. If you want to dance though, then definitely check this place out.
Review Source:Peabody's is a nice club. Â Compared to most places at the beach, this place is humongous. Â There's tons of space, plenty of seats or chill places and the music is your general pop and rock favorites. Â
I guess if you just turned 18 or are not yet 21, this place is probably a great place to come out and dance and meet people (mostly Navy guys, not that there's anything wrong with that). Â But for those of us who are a little older, this place feels like a playground and I for one feel out of place.
Ok, so Peabodys was the cool place to be ...when I was 18. Before I could get into a real bar, my friends and I would head down to the Oceanfront for a night of 'dancing' at Peabody's. I use the term dancing loosely because really we just got grinded on by a variety of weird dudes. I did have some really fun nights here at one time, but I've seen grown out of my club-going days. I spent many a night here when I was younger, and even remember when you could smoke in Peabodys (now it's outside smoking only). The bartenders here are never what I would call 'nice', the bars are usually jam-packed, but that's still no reason to be rude. The drinks are ,of course, overpriced as well. They're small and usually pretty weak, but you're still going to pay a pretty penny for it. It's a lot of girls walking around in skanky outfits and a lot of dudes with spiky hair and popped collars. It's just not my scene anymore.
Review Source:Peabody's makes me feel dirty just thinking about it and not in a good way. Unfortunately, they are going strong and will probably be around for many years to come.
The dance floor is tiny and the drinks are ridiculously expensive. Many of the guys there are way to comfortable with dancing with strangers, uninvited, and the college girls (truthfully, that age is a stretch in itself) only encourage the lewd behavior. When I left I felt like I needed to be hosed down just to get the aftermath off.
The only benefit of the existence of this establishment is that it means all of the entirely too friendly slobs and naive underage girls will be condensed in one location.
I love to dance. But not here. Never here.
Go here if:
You're a college-age girl with no self respect and you want to possibly risk getting molested on the dancefloor.
You're a douchebag who loves to prey on drunk college girls with no self respect.
You're in the military and want to give your fellow fine service members a bad rep by becoming a drunken meathead in public.
You're an unsuspecting tourist who just doesn't know any better.
Im surpised at the bad reviews that this place has recieved. When I was stationed in Virgina for 4 months I was told this place was a good spot to hang out. Since I used to work in the club/bar scene I figured it be best to call ahead and see if there is a guestlist. I spoke to the manager and told him im comming from a local Coast Guard base and he gave me and my shipmates free access! Loved the set up, lots of good looking girls, and saw a few people Ive seen around the base. Also meet some cool people I still talk to this day that still live down there. All in all when  I make the trip to VA Beach again, Peabodys will be on my list to check out.
Review Source:This place is wackkkkk!!!!!!! Â I would whole heartedly suggest not going to this place. Â I have been to many nightclubs/bars etc. Â This is a knock off club trying to be better then it is. Â They have undercover bouncers, and bouncers sitting on lifegaurd chairs. Â If you want to feel like you being baby sat and not want to get wild, then Peabodys is perfect for people who buy into that crap.
If i could give no stars I would
