The Peppertree Grill

After several ownership changes, this restaurant location continues to disappoint.  Unfortunately, the City of Sierra Madre cannot seem to draw a quality restaurant to a beautiful foothill community.  Do not waste the money on the Chicken Picatta.  I found that the dish was salty, wet, and sliding in a lemon juice "fresh" from the plastic squeeze bottle.  The service however was courteous and pleasant.  The chef (or cafeteria cook, if you will) does not seem to have any pride in his presentations. I'm sorry for the staff and owner.

My wife and I read a nice review of The Peppertree Grill in a local paper and decided to give it a shot, knowing that any number of new start-up restaurants in this town had been very disappointing.  NOT Peppertree!  From the warm greeting we received on entry through the superb service we received at our table from Meghan, it was a wonderful experience.  The food was superb - my wife had the Argentinian Skirt Steak, I had Beef Ravioli.  We were drooling over the dessert menu from the start - and had to make some difficult choices, coming down in favor of the Apple Tartan and Bread Pudding.  Again - five stars.  Their desserts are all made on-site.  And to wrap the entire "date night" experience up in a warm, melodic bow for us, background folk and soft rock music was performed with great skill by Len Mendoza, who we were very pleased to hear is a regular there every Saturday night.

The best thing we can say is - we're going back NEXT Saturday.  To continue our exploration of the menu, enjoyment of the ambience, and love of the music.

My friend and I decided to check this place out last night and it was amazing! Lots of great beer options and the empanadas are to die for! We also had deviled eggs which were amazing!

The staff was very attentive and friendly and the vibe and atmosphere of the place was very relaxed.
Someone above stated the owner as a lady, but they are wrong. The owner is Ryan and he was very friendly and came to check on how we were doing. I had been to T.Boyles and I love all the changes he has made.

Anyways back go the food!  We also order the piccata which was delicious and a Cesar salad which was really good especially with their homemade croutons!

I definitely recommend this place to everyone and I will absolutely come back again to try more food.
He also stated that there will be a band playing tonight! I'll have to go and check that out!!
