Best pizza in Bergen County!!! We ordered pizza from here after a wedding and we were not disappointed with the recommendation. The pizza was cheesy and foldable. Two things New Yorkers like myself take very seriously. I don't normally eat the crust but even it was delicious. Great job Phil's!!!!!!
Review Source:The only reason I hated not working in Montvale anymore was not being able to go to Phil's Pizza.
I live in NYC now, and still believe Phil's holds up with the best. Specifically like the Chicken Rio and Buffalo Chicken pizzas, mostly because the ingredients are large and it's extremely flavorful/filling.
Every now and then I make the trek up since my folks are nearby. A little pricey, but well worth it.
The pizza here is always cold, even when they heat it up for you. I don't know why, they have plenty of patrons so you would assume they have some fresh pies going. I tasted the meat lovers, sicilian, chicken, and regular slices and they were all blah. The meatball sub here wasn't special either. And it's either take out or sit down. No sitting to eat your slices allowed. Don't agree with that policy.
Review Source:The King and I were house-sitting/dog-sitting for a very good friend of mine over the weekend and we quickly realized that we needed a plan for dinner. Â We don't know the area too well and we were going to venture down the block for a quick sushi fix, but the Yelp reviews for Gen Sushi were not favorable so we decided to stay put and order in some Italian food.
We ordered a Caesar salad, the meatball parmesan casserole, and the Aloha salad (arugula, strawberries, mozz, grilled pineapple, red onions, and grilled chicken with a creamy balsamic dressing). Salads with fruit really excite me so I was thrilled to see this option on their menu. Â We asked if they could add extra anchovies to the Caesar salad and they did not disappoint. It was chock full of those little anchovy bastards. The croutons were small and useless (as are all croutons, in my opinion). The meatball parmesan was just that - meatballs smothered in mozz. Â Not sure why they called it a "casserole" but what-ev.
Delivery was promised within 45 minutes but they arrived much quicker than that.
Their menu is pretty extensive. Lots of specialty salads, specialty wraps (served with a green bean salad...ooh la la) and a few low-carb options as well (pasta-free dishes that are served with salad). Â They offer your standard pizzeria fare as well (pizza, calzones, and the like).
We (as well as the dog) were glad that we decided to stay in!
Had a pizza (sausage, bacon, and olive) and salad (arugula and feta) delivered to my hotel last night. 35 minutes when they promised 45. Â Both were awesome with lots of toppings. Pizza was hot when delivered. Crust crisp and chewy and the sausage was long thin strips. Â Only mistake was they sent me a large for the price of a small (I had ordered the small) so a large portion of the pizza went to waste! Â Too bad. Would have been great for breakfast!! Â Would order here again if I lived nearby.
Review Source:I've been here a dozen of times for lunch because I work up in Montvale. Â Close proximity to my job. Â I would have to say this is the best place for pizza or any quick Italian food in the Montvale area. Â Is it the best I've ever had? Â No. Â They also have good wraps if you are in the mood for that. Â
The place is sometimes packed during lunch hour and the service can be slow. Â But that's normal for a restaurant during lunch hours. Â Place is clean and the staff is friendly. Â Prices are reasonable. Â I will definitely be back.
This place has been here forever and not much has changed, including the staff. Â I really like the set up, a big counter with plenty of stools and a no slice dining area in the back. Â The pizza is as good as I remember. Have only had the pizza so I can't rate anything else from the menu.
Review Source:Best pizza in the area? Yes...
Best pizza you have ever had? No..
There is a lot if corporate offices in close proximity so it gets pretty busy during lunch... They have plenty specialty pizzas once you enter which is cool... And if you are with a group you will be seated in the back... When the weather gets nice there is outdoor seating... The service is mehh kinda slow so don't expect to get special treatment... But you will leave Phils satisfied that's for sure
This place has delicious pizza and a pretty good salad. its very close to my workplace so I go there often for a slice. Â You can eat a slice at the bar but in the back you can't - we go in a group sometimes. In the summer there is outdoor seating and their pasta dishes are also very tasty and not expensive. Â If you are shopping at the nearby Tice Farms its a great place to stop since they dont have much as far as eateries in the shopping center. Â I am also a fan of the Chicken Vincenzo...chicken with artichoke hearts, roasted peppers and olives.
Review Source:Been going there for 20+ years, and it's still my favorite pizza on the planet. Something about this perfectly cooked crust and sauce have kept me very happy all this time... Â And it's not the huge slices like you would get in NYC, which I think is a good thing. Â
The rest of the menu is pretty good, but I never really come here for anything other than a couple slices anymore. Â Big, clean dining room that is perfect for families and groups. Â No slices allowed at the tables, which has been that way for as long as I can remember.
I literally grew up here, and hope to continue enjoying this awesome pizza for many more years to come!
I came here quickly to grab a slice with my mom after doing a little shopping at Tice's Corners. The place was hopping on a Friday night (but then again when is a pizza place not hopping on a Friday night). We wanted to just grab a slice or two so we had to sit at the counter. You were only allowed to sit outside if you had a purchase over $10 and you could only sit in the back room if you ordered a pie. The pizza was okay. They were very cheap on the soda. They gave you super small glasses and charged you for each time you had a refill. What type of pizza place charges you extra for soda especially when they give you 6oz glasses?!?!?
Review Source:I always eat at the counter, my standard order now is a couple of slices of pizza. Â I ask what they have by the slice that day and pick 2 that sound good. Â I used to order mozzarella sticks and/or zucchini sticks, but lately have come to a realization that charging $6 for an appetizer THAT small is ludicrous. Â So don't waste your cash on appetizer, get some pizza, get a sandwich and move on. Â The service is reliably fast.
Review Source:The main reason I get pizza from Phil's is because of its proximity to my workplace. The pizzas tend to be greasy, but they do make some excellent specialty pizzas. The buffalo chicken one is always good.
Dining in isn't too bad of an experience. The counter service is decent as is the food. The dishes I've gotten have been a bit greasy but not terrible.
They have a back dining room area that is good for groups. In order to discourage groups of kids from hanging out they don't let you eat slices of pizza back there.
I've had better from other pizza places in the area, but this place isn't bad.
