Now called Orange door, the food is still as good as ever.  But the portions are so small, I can't recommend it.

Amazing service and food! I've been here a couple times and have had consistently good experiences. Everything was fresh and flavored perferctly. Plus, the atmosphere is relaxing-set next to the park! This restaurant will quickly be a regular in the rotation.

I absolutely adore this place and the ambiance it has to offer considering what you get with other pho locations. I usually get the vegetable pho and my husband gets the beef and we both love it! Only reason not giving a 5 is because the poor girl who always waited on is there each time is the only one waiting on everyone and she usually Just doesn't even seem happy to be there. Overall awesome place to check out in downtown Tacoma.

    Not good.

The waitstaff was spacey and lazy, the vegetarian pho was flavorless with frozen vegetables in it, and the bum ba hue (spelling) tried to cover up awful flavor with excessive spice.

Nice decor.  Good for them.  Put some money into the product, please.

A nice atmosphere for a place with "Pho" in the name.  However, the food didn't live up to the setting.  The menu tried to cover quite a bit of ground and the items I and my dining partner had were all consistently poorly executed.  Salt and pepper calamari was an epic disappointment.  The squid was not fresh, the ration of squid to batter was 4 parts batter to 1 part squid.  The attempted vinegar pepper sauce was also not at all tasty.  But  I didn't eat here for that, how was the Pho?  The word that comes to mind is "instant", the broth tasted like an instant soup.  It lacked much in terms of depth and overall had one predominant flavor --- salty.  Combine all this with the pricing and I feel very generous rating this place two stars.

Like other reviewers, this place can be summed up in one phrase - "good food, BAD service".  Or you could say, "inconsistent food, and similar service".

Our third trip to this place was for lunch today - took over half an hour for 2 sandwhiches and some soup to come out of the kitchen.  The sandwhiches were cold, to top it off.  No apologies from the lady behind the counter.  The other times we have come in, the food was good and kept us coming back.  Finally after today, we will search for a new place to eat.

Do you have a lunch hour...? Yeah, it's been used up watching your car for parking tickets while people who came in after you sit down and get to eat.

This place is a bit over-priced, but I felt the pork sandwhiches were worth it - of course that's when they were hot, and also when we didn't wait a ridiculous amount of time for them either.  Not sure why service isn't a priority anymore... a simple apology and/or explanation goes a long way.  I suppose the lack of CS along with inconsistent food and/or higher than normal prices will lead to yet another new restaurant at 701 Pacific Ave in the next year or so.

I'm hadn't had Pho in many years, and tried 701 recently. I ordered the Pho with round eye steak and meatballs. I'd forgotten what to do with the condiments and the server was helpful suggesting I add some plum sauce and sriracha sauce to the soup. Definitely made it tastier (careful with the sauce though, it's hot). I liked everything but the meatballs. I thought they were kind of spongy. Overall, pretty good. I'd go back.

Great little spot to grab a bowl of Pho in downtown Tacoma! Atmosphere is a little more upscale/clean than a typical pho joint. Expect to spend an extra buck or two as well, but the cost is justified, as the food here is great. And a large bowl, is in-fact, quite large here. I didn't drink any alcohol here when I ate here, but the fact that they have a bar here is a plus.

A nice little addition to downtown Tacoma - I'll certainly pay them another visit in the future.

The service ruined the experience here. They were friendly, but very disorganized and therefore slow and they had many issues running the bar. The place only had 3 tables of customers and yet they could not keep up with the pace. Too bad... the food was not bad.

still four stars for prices but the Yelp Deal which can be used three times per individual definitely helps.

When Pho 701 went in I was thrilled to have a Pho place downtown and more restaurants for lunches. I've gone there many times, each timing wanting to give it 'another chance' and each time I've been there I've left disappointed.  The food is only ever okay, but the customer service is really what gets me.

When you serve lunch downtown, being able to be in and out in a reasonable time (60-70 minutes) is important. (I like relaxed lunches, but 80-90 minute lunches for a table of 4 ordering Pho isn't really reasonable).

Each time I've come, the service has been PAINFULLY slow. And just plan negligent. They forget to take our order. Then they forget to bring the drinks. Then it takes nearly 30 minutes to actually get the Pho.  If it were a complicated menu I could understand -- but it's not.

Today I called an order in (spring roll and Pho) and was told 20-25 minutes. I went there at 25 minutes and my guess is they hadn't even put in the order. It took nearly 15 minutes for my order to be ready, by which time I didn't have time to eat it before my meeting. And the two women working at the front were bickering over who had to do what. After a year in business, they should have this down by now. My guess is that it's the lack of competition that keeps them in business, because it's not their customer service.

Awesome service, great atmosphere, and okay food. I decided to try this place because my coworker recommended me. I drove from Auburn for Friday lunch.

I saw their wi-fi network, but it was locked. I didn't ask for the password either.

Parking is on the street so it requires to keep track of the time so that you can go put more money if you needed more time.

I dont like giving bad reviews unless i have a horrible experience, which i didnt, but yelp asked so what can i do?   Its a pretty cool location being downtown on pac ave, and the outside seating on a rare beautiful day like yesterday was a nice option.  The staff was friendly.  My issues came in with the limited menu choices, green service, and high prices.  I am no newby to pho and Vietnamese food i eat it literally at least once a week at different locations.  I dont eat meat and was surprised that when i asked for a tofu vermicelli, instead of the meat filled one on the menu, which is way more expensive to make, i was told i needed to pay even more than the already outrageous price for "changing the menu".  The pho and other items were also overpriced.  They were out of some basic items so i had to change my original drink order, but they did have a mixed drink menu which is rare at this kind of restaurant.  Maybe youre paying more for eating in the location.  So if youre ok with spending more, directing your waitress for the most basic of service ( a drink menu, your check), and prefer your ethnic meals in a more Americanized setting, this might be the place for you.  Everyone should experience Vietnamese food one way or another!

My wife and I had lunch, here. We had the Calamari appetizer, which was an 8 on a scale of 10 (10 being the best). The wife had Lemon Grass Chicken stir fry, again an 8. I had the Pho Brisket with Sausage, which I would give a 9. All of the food was fresh without grease floating in the sauce or broth, like many Vietnamese restaurants in which I have eaten.  Nice setting with garden views. Modern clean decor. Reasonable service.

Good food and good atmosphere. I found this place while wandering around Tacoma. Turns out it was really good and had a "contemporary" atmosphere - not like a lot of the industrial feeling interiors of a lot of Pho restaurants I've been too.

I had a regular Pho w/brisket and flank and a soda (free with my Yelp check-in and it came to under $8.00.

They also had a full bar, but I didn't try anything from there.

I am totally recommending this restaurant if you're on that side of town.

Great pho and even better customer service.  The veg spring rolls are really good and I do love the atmosphere.  I have been here three times and each time have been pleased,  The owner is very personable and takes good care of his patrons.  Thanks!

We stopped in here while walking around downtown Tacoma and really enjoyed ourselves.  The inside was very light, with large windows and an airy feel about the place.  The wait staff was friendly and I got a free soda simply by checking in on foursquare.  My wife and I got the Pho Tai and it was on par with other Pho restaurants where we've dined in the past, and the prices were standard.  We would go back.

One of the best Phò places in Tacoma! Good food but a little higher priced then others, but not by much. It is really well designed inside with a very modern feel to it. They often seem understaffed but only when it comes to bussing old tables never on speed of helping customers. Very friendly staff also!

This has quickly turned into my favorite Pho restaurant in Tacoma.  I discovered it a few months ago.  My family and I try something new on their menu every time we go.  Their vegetarian and regular spring rolls are so fresh and delicious.

The veg Pho is full of delicious fresh veggies with a great broth (I think it is still a meat broth).  All the Pho is tasty, try your favorite, you wont be disappointed.  Their Banh Mi sandwich is also fabulous - the bread is crispy on the outside, but fresh and soft on the inside, with tender meat and veggies, YUM!

The manager and staff are very friendly.  There is a nice bar, with a flat screen tv.  So if you just want to get some spring rolls and a few drinks, your good!
Nice, clean atmosphere.   I highly recommend trying it out.

I just discovered this place today! And whoo hoo, is it delicious. First off, the location is great with lovely windows and views. The atmosphere is fancy and this place is just so cute. I ordered the vegetarian pho which has tofu and veggies. If you're a veghead, don't get the tofu pho! It's made with meat broth. My pho was delicious and it had mushrooms. I love mushrooms! This place also has a full bar and a pretty impressive looking drink menu. I will have to go back sometime and order drinks. I'm a bit curious as to how well alcohol and pho go together. I'm definitely visiting again.

Yummy tofu pho with veggie broth.  Floor to ceiling windows with a view of Fireman's Park.  Hip atmosphere and spotlessly clean, which is really bizarre for a pho spot, right?  A little pricier than most places, but not by much.  Friendly service.  Don't order hot tea -- they'll just give you an assortment of Stash.

Finally a restaurant to rave about in Tacoma!   The amazing flavors of the food and the fact that the dishes were made with unbelievably fresh ingredients, as well as the artful presentation, hip decor, friendly staff and attention to detail make Pho 710 my new favorite restaurant.  If you like Tamarind Tree or Monsoon in Seattle, you will LOVE Pho 701.  I especially like that the dishes are healthy, not fried like Chinese food, and utilize a diverse range of herbs, including lemongrass, mint, Vietnamese mint, long coriander and Thai basil leaves. The vegetarian spring rolls are the best I have ever had and the Green Papaya salad and  701 Vermicelli rice noodles (served in a big bowl with skewered grilled pork and chicken, eggs rolls, grilled shrimp and herb fish sauce) were equally as good.  The best part about the dinner was that my 12-year-old LOVED the healthy fresh food and has already asked to go back!

We went to Pho 701 the other night because we had a Groupon.  I'm glad we did, because without the deal we never would have known the place was there!  It's easy to miss as you enter downtown Tacoma from Schuster Pkwy.  On a Friday night at 8:00, there were very few other tables and no wait.  That made us nervous at first.  The service was also a little....awkward.  We were never asked if we wanted a drink and overall our interactions were just....awkward.  I don't know how to describe it, but it wasn't comfortable.  The food, however, was great!  I had a shaken beef rice dish, sort of like a deconstructed Vietnamese sandwich.  Everything was fresh and flavorful.  The meat was very tender.  My husband had a basil chicken dish from the specials board and he really enjoyed it.  The prices seemed really reasonable considering the upscale vibe.  Was really into the decor.  Almost forgot to mention, we had a calamari appetizer that was some of the best we've ever had.  Light, tender, perfectly seasoned with peppers and garlic, no need for sauce.  We will definitely be back, if this place sticks around!  It's never a good sign when you're empty on a Friday night.

Sorry 701'ers but I'm downgrading your rating after visiting this past weekend.
It wasn't about the atmosphere, it's pretty, clean, and calm.
It wasn't really about the service, our servers have been pleasant.
It was the food. And the prices on the food.

It's not just me, the pho just didn't taste that great to either my friend or I. The beef was pretty chewy, the broth wasn't smooth, and the noodles undercooked, almost crunchy.
We also ordered pho tai, without meatballs, and we still got meatballs in the soup.
Like I stated before, the sandwiches were sub par and the portions of the sides dwarfed in comparison to other pho places I've frequented.
The prices are slightly higher than other pho restaurants which just drove the nail in the coffin.

The pho was good, but I've had better. The inside is sleek and elegant. There appears to be a full bar. They have good hours.

The service was so horrible, it was honestly hilarious. I was laughing about it hours later. Our waitress barely spoke English and we couldn't understand her.

I think Pho King on MLK has better prices and pho, but a sketchier interior.

Been to this place twice and both times I was equally impressed. The atmosphere is like of a posh pho place. The dining area is has a simplistic modern style with views of the park that provides a lot of light during the day.

PROS:  Has a full bar which is a nice spot for dinner and drinks. The menu has all to choose from in  viet dining. It has outdoor sitting which is nice for those sunny days. The restaurant is clean and spotless and the food is delivered quickly. The staff is nice and inviting.

CONS: Not open later. I wish!!

Overall I will be returning here often and is now on my list of restaurants to frequent!!

What an adorable little space!  I think I will award the pho a slight boost in points solely based on the great ambiance of the restaurant and the clean presentation of the food--I'm very used to eating delicious pho at really scrappy-looking establishments.  The pho was really tasty though (I got #16--the beef round eye and brisket).  Broth was not too salty or too bland (of course I slather on the sriracha and hoisin regardless).  I was disappointed in the extremely small amount of basil/sprouts/limes/greens/etc. served, but I suppose they would have brought more if we had asked.

The spring rolls and egg rolls are delicious, as are the corresponding sauces.

Overall, I would absolutely return here, even though it's off my beaten path. Sitting at a window table gave us a great view of the old Tacoma town hall tower and the little Fireman's Park next door.  Did I mention it is VERY reasonably priced ($5 egg rolls, $5 spring rolls, and I think it was ~$6.50 for a regular pho or ~$7 for a large).
Plenty of street parking out front during lunch hours (metered but $.50 will give you enough time for lunch).

I visited during their soft opening with my hubby and a friend when everything on the menu was $5--so needless to say we went a little crazy trying multiple items.  We tried the spring rolls (excellent), egg rolls (awesome), banh mi (soooo yummy), chicken and pork skewers over noodles and veggies (YUM-O), the green papaya salad (Um...try this...i think the sautee the papaya in bacon grease...its soo good) and chicken wings (meh...chicken wings are only good with blue cheese).  Everything came out quickly and was really tasty and fresh.  The decor is trendy and streamlined and felt really comfortable.  Looking forward to trying the pho!
